    Smash burger and Guinness
    Jonathan E.

Cold and super tall beer ! I went in just for a beer and was told there is a special $11 combo with smash burger. I was expecting a tiny dry burger because it was too good to be true lol. This burger definitely exceeded my expectations.

I honestly have to update this review. Haven't been back probably since shortly after they opened but I feel like they literally took everything I said in my review and gave me exactly what I wanted and that doesn't happen often. Saw a happy hour sign outside when I went to pick up some Yelp hand wash around the corner and it boasted of $5 pints till 7pm. Ingrid swings around after my pit stop for a peak inside. Twinkly lights are now hanging from the ceiling. I get a more warm and welcoming vibe. The beers on draft now are all craft selections and a wonderful variety to suit everyone's desires: stouts and dark beers, ipas, ciders. A few selections I've never heard of or tried. Gosh darn it, Wolfhound, you make me so proud. Now I will always remember this as a great other option from Judy and Punch if I'm ever in Astoria again.

Wolfhound is a modern looking Irish bar in a busy part of Astoria. We were told by the bartender that this place no longer serves food but they are working on it for now. So, at the moment this is just a place for drinks. They do have live music on certain nights though. And they have a decent drink special - $10 for a beer and a shot.

It's a Mets bar. What's not to love?

I was there recently for a Mets watch party that my friend hosted. There were a few groups of people that weren't there for the party, but engaged with some of the party attendees without issues. It was a really cool spot for the event where we easily watched the game and mingled. They had great drinks and I heard great food. I didn't eat there, but the food looked great. The staff were really nice and were Mets fans, so that helps lol. Def a cool spot to hang out whether you're watching the game or not.

After midnight and you're on the plantation with no other chores and can't sleep what do you do? If you answered take a walk and find a dive bar you're absolutely correct! At least that's what I attempted to do. I'm not sure Yelp knows what a dive bar is though, this one ain't as divey as I like them. It's actually pretty decent and a bit trendy. And clean and serene, nah, I won't call here a dive bar. Go to BKLYN or LI Yelp. You'll see. Cool staff. Eclectic music. Darts. Non problematic patrons. Guinness! Suki-Suki! The End.

The Wolfhound is a sweet little bar to get a drink. I ordered the Moscow mule and my friend got an espresso martini. Both of which came out quickly and were very tasty. There are some dart boards in the back to play and plenty of seating!

Great neighborhood bar. I've come in for the burger and beer special for $11, great price! I've also tried their Crispy Chicken Sandwich and it's also delicious. Good food, good music and good bartenders. Can't ask for more!

The positive grungy vibe with the decorated walls and wooden furniture gave the place a unique charm. However, the ambiance paled in comparison to the food laid out in front of us. I loved the rich flavors of the broth and the quality of the food was high. Definitely going to be one of my go to spots for hot pot. Seriously, there has to be something wrong with you. My sister is one of the pickiest eaters that I know. Always has been and always will be. She just started eating raw onions several years ago and still doesn't like cooked onions. Even she was able to find something at Jacob's Pickles and it delicious. With regards to the rest of what we ordered, we ordered the Hog In A Blanket as our appetizer and both my daughter and sister ordered the Grilled Salmon Salad. I ordered the Turkey Leg braised in white wine and served with whipped potatoes, Rosemary Biscuit Stuffing, homemade cranberry sauce and gravy. The Hogs in a Blanket were their version of Pigs In a Blanket. The major difference being that Jacob's Pickles are served in puff pastry and with their own house made pickles. Yummy! The salmon salad was served with baby greens, sliced oranges, red onion, cilantro and a light orange vinaigrette. Everything and I do mean everything was delicious. It was a gut-buster of a meal and everything was perfectly prepared. The salmon was expertly cooked and the turkey literally fell away from the bone and tendons of the turkey leg. Just plain old good food in an attractive homey setting wins out all of the time! It's a must go!

We ordered the fried pickles appetizer, which were pretty good. I ordered the smash burgers and the ratio of bun to meat was laughable. The bun was 3" thick and all I tasted was bread. I have no idea how the meat was because I was eating mostly bun. The fries were nothing special, just whatever they order in frozen. My friend ordered the Buttermilk Biscuit Sandwich. It came with burned bacon and over-fried green tomatoes that I tried, but were so chewy they were inedible. She said the chicken was also over-fried and dry. She said the cole slaw was spicy and flavorful and so moist that it made the dry chicken edible. Our third friend ordered a salad (I forget which - some kind of wedge) and she said it was pretty OK.

With so many places hanging roast ducks and chickens in the window, it's hard to know which one is actually worth trying, so I usually stick to the places I already know. I'm really glad I decided to order from here because it introduced me to a great new spot. I ordered the half roast duck, the Sichuan spicy stir-fried chicken, and the preserved egg and pork congee a long with a youtiao. As expected with delivery, both the duck and chicken needed a few minutes in the oven to crisp back up, but once they did, they were absolutely delicious. I especially loved the sauce that came with the duck, it really brought the whole dish together. The biggest surprise of the meal was the Sichuan spicy chicken. I normally don't enjoy the numbing Sichuan peppercorn flavor, but whatever they did here was just incredibly tasty. It had plenty of flavor without the numbing sensation overpowering everything else. I can definitely see myself ordering it again. The preserved egg and pork congee was decent. I'd seen reviews complaining that the consistency was off, but I actually thought the texture was exactly what congee should be. My only complaint was that it could have used a bit more seasoning and more preserved egg. The youtiao was also very good after a quick trip through the oven. Overall, this was a very enjoyable meal and a restaurant I'll definitely be visiting in person. I'm already looking forward to trying the soy sauce chicken and the other roast meats, and I'll absolutely be ordering that Sichuan spicy chicken again.
