This is about the food - the bar itself is fine. I had a Hound Burger, a pub style burger with a nice grind of meat. When it came out, however, the bun was so hot I could not hold it in my hand. The bun burned my hand. Same for the floppy opposite-of-crisp fries. Did they heat a fully dressed burger, and maybe the fries, in a microwave? It came out fairly quickly, I suspect it was ready to go but for a blast in the micro to heat it up. There was no pink left in the overcooked burger. My advice is to get a taco or pizza nearby and come here for the beer, drinks and trivia. read more

Came here just for drinks at the bar and was really impressed! The cocktails were well-crafted, balanced, and full of flavor. You can tell the bartenders know what they're doing--everything from the presentation to the ingredients felt thoughtful. The vibe at the bar is lively but relaxed, making it a great spot to unwind or catch up with friends. Only reason for four stars instead of five is that the service was a bit slow at times, but nothing that ruined the experience. Overall, a solid place for great drinks--I'd definitely come back for another round! read more

I honestly have to update this review. Haven't been back probably since shortly after they opened but I feel like they literally took everything I said in my review and gave me exactly what I wanted and that doesn't happen often. Saw a happy hour sign outside when I went to pick up some Yelp hand wash around the corner and it boasted of $5 pints till 7pm. Ingrid swings around after my pit stop for a peak inside. Twinkly lights are now hanging from the ceiling. I get a more warm and welcoming vibe. The beers on draft now are all craft selections and a wonderful variety to suit everyone's desires: stouts and dark beers, ipas, ciders. A few selections I've never heard of or tried. Gosh darn it, Wolfhound, you make me so proud. Now I will always remember this as a great other option from Judy and Punch if I'm ever in Astoria again. read more

Wolfhound is a modern looking Irish bar in a busy part of Astoria. We were told by the bartender that this place no longer serves food but they are working on it for now. So, at the moment this is just a place for drinks. They do have live music on certain nights though. And they have a decent drink special - $10 for a beer and a shot. read more

Highly recommend this bar if you want a sporty, homey, neighborhood bar atmosphere. My friends and I came in spontaneously last night and we absolutely loved the simple aesthetic. They have darts, food, and good drinks -- what more could we ask for? The service was fast, however, some bartenders were a little heavy handed with the alcohol in the drinks (which we didn't mind at all, but that's something worth noting). Everyone was friendly. Prices were reasonable. Worth going back to again! read more

Not too shabby! It was awarded as the best wings in queens and it was pretty good and well flavored. We tried the standard buffalo wings, bbq wings, and the super spicy ones (which were tolerable, thankfully) The drink deals and the service are pretty good for a standard bar! I do recommend to check out. Their nachos were okay and their pork chop was good. read more

I was there recently for a Mets watch party that my friend hosted. There were a few groups of people that weren't there for the party, but engaged with some of the party attendees without issues. It was a really cool spot for the event where we easily watched the game and mingled. They had great drinks and I heard great food. I didn't eat there, but the food looked great. The staff were really nice and were Mets fans, so that helps lol. Def a cool spot to hang out whether you're watching the game or not. read more

I think it's a great bar. Their drinks are perfect-- although the sporty atmosphere is not to my liking. That's basically the only reason for the less star. Otherwise, service is great, lighting is great. And spacious for seating. read more

Drinks are served quickly, super tight bar, usually packed to the rim with ignoramous hipsters. Bar tenders are nice and friendly most of the time. You will run into a lot of work witches and degenerate, uncultured yuppies. read more

After midnight and you're on the plantation with no other chores and can't sleep what do you do? If you answered take a walk and find a dive bar you're absolutely correct! At least that's what I attempted to do. I'm not sure Yelp knows what a dive bar is though, this one ain't as divey as I like them. It's actually pretty decent and a bit trendy. Came here the other night with a friend, was overall disappointment. Dude working behind the bar seemed to have an issue with us straight away, we knew that he had seen us come in as we nodded hello but still walked past us 2-3 times before we had to ask him for attention, while sitting center of the bar, then served us with a frown and hardly even looked at us as we ordered, very rude.. Long haired wanable hipster seemed too interested in chatting with his buddy at the end of the bar. Feels like they only wanted to serve / hang with their regulars who are their friends outside of work it seems like. Wont be back to what seemed like a chill bar to go to but staff make you feel unwelcome. Just miserable looking... Seems to be turning into a dive/punk bar also, not my scene. read more

If I could live at a bar, this would be it. Excellent bartenders who know their cocktails, whiskey, and craft beer, great music and theme nights, and a really friendly and eclectic crowd. Even the bouncers who check ID and vaccination are nice! That is so rare in NYC I almost wanted to cry. Last time I was there, they had two great movies playing in the background, Men in Black followed by Kill Bill. I usually go here solo to enjoy a drink and do some reading, but there are people there for dates, girls' nights, to play darts in the back, everyone just chilling and having a good time. It's not a "scene" and there is zero pretention, just people hanging out and having a good time. read more

We were passing by just after it started pouring, so we came in for a couple drinks. We had a good time with the jukebox and the darts in the back. The beers were priced about where you would expect for Astoria, (i.e. a little on the high side, but par for the course here) but the cocktails are a bit more. Nothing too crazy here. It is a pretty standard bar, seemed clean enough, and had drinks. What more could you ask for? read more

I came in after dinner nearby because I heard a live band playing. I'll stop for live music anywhere but in Queens it's especially rare to stumble upon. By the time I came back in the band was just finishing their set and the music did a complete 180 into rap/hiphop that was too loud to hear your neighbor over. Me and my friend stayed for a round then moved on. Crowd and bartenders were cool, we just came in expecting one thing and got something else. I'll definitely be back and update when I have time for the live sets. read more

After my friend's birthday dinner we stumbled upon the local joint by chance. We drawn in by the cute dog sitting near the window and went in. It was one best choice we made that night. We had such great time for ton of reasons. Reason number one, the bartender was awesome and crazy friendly. She kept all of us entertained and serving other customers with care. Now that's an amazing bartender. Second reason the super relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Like I mentioned before they allow dogs. They have darts and live music. The best best detail is that they have Prosecco on tap. That's right ladies Prosecco on tap . How can you go wrong with that, we were so happy we just drinking and enjoying our nights. The bartender found out it was my Friend's birthday and treated us to a new awesome around of shots. The place is little small because so many are love coming to place . I will be visiting this place soon again. read more

A real pub just off Steinway Avenue in Astoria. We were out for the first two nights of what I hope will be an annual gathering of some of the leading musicians from County Clare in Ireland with local musicians from the traditional Irish music scene in Manhattan and Queens. The pub does not serve food. The knowledgeable staff can point you down 30th to over a dozen excellent and reasonably priced spots for either lunch or dinner. The customers are all engaged in conversation, as fits the best pubs in our part of Clare. Not a television in sight. A good sound system carries the music from the rear of the pub along the length of the bar to the front. One of the better pints of Guinness is on offer here. As I understand the current schedule Sundays and Mondays have Irish music while Wednesday offers a quiz night. I wish success to the owners. The Wolfhound is open from noon until 4 in the morning. Very welcoming staff and ownership. read more

Stop 1 of our Saturday night bar hopping adventure. Came here and there was happy hour on a Saturday and we made 10 minutes before it was up so my friends & I ordered 6 beer & shot specials. The shots were all house liquor (whisky) and but it was not bad. After we took our shots we of course got more shots and we opted for our old Jack Daniels (honey flavor). The service was quick and bartenders were welcoming and kind. The only thing that sucked was that there was only one bartender for the entire bar. Definitely would want to come back here in the future for sure! read more

I've always loved Wolfhound, but now it's definitely my favorite spot. Had my birthday party here this past weekend, and they really made it special! Arrived to our table set up with complimentary champagne and munchies. Rory was so awesome and friendly. There was a DJ playing great music. The rest is a little fuzzy (haha), but I couldn't have asked for a better spot to celebrate a birthday with all of my favorite people. read more

The liquor drinks are priced high for Astoria and come in really small glasses. Beer prices are decent and that staff is really attentive/friendly. The bar itself is narrow but there are a few tables and darts in the back. It's a newer divvy local haunt on 30th in Astoria. Wouldn't make it my regular spot, but pop in occasionally. read more

I love this place. It's the perfect place for an after work drink and to relax. The bartenders are cool and chill and I can have a conversation with them all day. They always have some sort of live music or event which always changes up the atmosphere. And probably one of the best Guinness pours in Queens. read more

I stopped in here the other night with my girlfriend for drinks. We both thought that the bartender was friendly and we liked the concept of the place, but the drinks were pretty pricey. Most of their draft beers were $8 for a pint, which is more expensive than comparable bars in Manhattan. I saw that their happy hour is only $1 off drafts, which is also still pretty high. read more

Great addition to Astoria that is BYOF! I can't believe it took me this long to stop by considering they've been open for about 6 months now. Stopped in on a Saturday evening and it wasn't too crowded, but still lively enough to have fun. They have darts in the back. Bartender Joe was friendly and knowledgeable. Will definitely be back with some more friends. Great hangout in Astoria that I would recommend to others. read more
