Service was exceptional. Food was delicious and interior/presentation of plates was well done. If you can afford an expensive steak, this place is highly recommended! Filet mignon was tender and I savored every bite! I would like to return as soon as possible :)

I was sad to see Angela's go, and hadn't taken the step to go to what was in its place. Finally took that step and will say that I was pleasantly surprised by Moxie's. Service and Staff: - All of the staff members were very nice Food and Drinks: - Poached eggs on top of grilled sourdough, asparagus and lemony hollandaise: yes, this is the full name of the dish (they don't have set names). This dish was delicious! I was hesitant about the asparagus at first due to the difference in textures across the meal, but it blended in nicely. The flavors were good. Comes with two poached eggs and a good amount of smoked salmon. - Steak & Eggs: little but on the smaller side in regards to the steak skewers. The potato doughnuts are delicious (especially with the romesco sauce). Miscellaneous: - Parking available via a shared parking lot with the marketplace (as well as street parking) - If you have room, there are a few dessert options. They also have a donut cart - [[HIGHLIGHT]]Good for small and large groups[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] - [[HIGHLIGHT]]Indoor and outdoor seating available[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

First time visiting this restaurant and food was absolutely delicious! Our waitress, Crissie was so personable, she had great recommendations and she was very attentive without disturbing us too often. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is nice, love the decor.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's not too fancy, so you can come dressed down or up as a date night.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I'm definitely coming back when I'm in the area!

Caesar salad. Can youspot the anchovies?

Been wating to try Moxie for a while. Its a smallish restaurant so reservations can be hard to get. Party of 4 on a Sat night. They texted us 20 minutes before our reservation time to tell us our table was ready. Nice touch. Plenty of parking in the shared lot behind the restaturant. Arrived 5 mins early and our table was ready. 3 of us ordered the restaurant week prix fixe special of a caesar salad, steak and fries and soft service ice cream. The other ordered the 14 oz ribeye nad brussel sprouts. The caesar was very good and elevated with 2 anchovies on top. The french onion was quite strong so I watered it down a llittle and it was fine. The ribeye was cooked perfectly and the brussel sprouts were tasty. Unfortunately the steak special was a little too salty and was tought he cut and chew. I would have preferred paying more and getting a better steak. The ice cream came in a big bowl with a chocolate cap. Yum! Service was great - very friendly and checked on us to make sure everything was OK. Overall a good experience but didn't knock our socks off.

Brought my husband for his birthday and we really enjoyed ourselves! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Cozy, moody vibes, with delicious food.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our server was really personable and attentive too! We ordered: - 8oz Bavette - Brussel Sprouts with Spicy Orange Gochujang Sauce - Classic Mash - Mac & Cheese w/ Gorgonzola - Tableside Caesar Salad - Dungeness Crab cake with a Fennel Lemon Bibb Salad - 2 cocktails My husband loved the Bavette. The mash was *chef's kiss* (buttery goodness). I enjoyed the mac & cheese, but do not get it with gorgonzola unless you LOVE gorgonzola. Everything else was good too. My only gripe was the portion/sizing of the crab cake (for the cost and size, I think you should get at least two). I don't live in Alameda, but would go back if in the area again.

Salmon cake and salad! Very yummy. And perfect if you do not want a heavy dinner.

Food is awesome here! Large portions of the meat dishes! It is pricey! Service is great as well.

Came here on an early Sunday night, so it wasn't too busy. We were seated promptly (2 people) [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance is on the darker side, but we didn't mind.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] For appetizers we had: Mashed potatoes - small portion, but perfect for two people or one person if you are really hungry. We liked it. Brussel sprouts - cooked well, but we did not like the citrus taste Caesar salad - we ordered the small Portion and it came with anchovies, which I loved. I don't like a lot of dressing on my salad, so I would ask for less dressing if you are the same Entrees: I had the prime rib which came with mashed potatoes and asparagus. It wasn't bad, but Nothing life changing. For the price: I probably wouldn't order it again. Much rathe pay for the experience at a place like house of prime rib. My partner had the rib eye: medium rare, cooked perfectly so no complaints. Everything is made to share so be prepared to pay for everything extra including all of the sauces like horseradish and Chimichurri. They were about $4 each.

After slightly a year or so in their initial operations, I finally was able to give them a whirl. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a steakhouse but a modern one, not those old school ones with dark wood all around and black and white photos. It is dark in there (at night) but it is pretty stylish with urban flair[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. When I first heard a steakhouse was opening in Alameda, I was a bit skeptical. But now that I've seen it first hand, I gotta say I liked it...a lot even. Their menu is strictly a la carte, which is common for steakhouses. Everything has to be ordered individually. Soup, salad, starch or veggies to go with steak, all have to be ordered separately. I found getting 2 sides is very sharable for 2 diners. Their beef sourcing is also very modern. Instead of using basic USDA graded/fed meat, they'll use smaller ranches/farms right here in California. They may even feature 2 different farms, so you may even get an education on top of a full and happy belly. I'm actually leaning into this type of beef eating as it is more wholesome and sustainable. And since I have cut my beef consumption by a lot these days, I might as well eat more with choice and deliberation versus just what our government pushes on us. Templeton Rye on the rocks ($12/5*) Decent pour and loved how they carried this brand of bourbon. This is naturally aromatic and spicy with sweet fruit esters and a bold cinnamon tinge. So I often don't want to mask it with vermouth or cherries, just a little ice to make the spirit bloom. And that price, Iets just say it can turn me into a reg. Asparagus and Roast Garlic Soup ($10/5*) This was a soup special the night I went. Verbally announced. Perfect fine dining cream soup, silky texture and good asparagus flavor. And they garnish it with thick and chewy hits of lardons (OG bacon), small but garlic-y croutons and maybe some creme fraiche. Equally pleasing for the eye as well as for the palate. Abatti Farms Bavette Steak ($48/5*) Sure they've got filet, strip and ribeyes here, but I'm always looking for more not-so-conventional steak cuts like flat iron, flank, hanger or this, which is also called 'flap meat', But the french bavette just sounds so much more suave. Lol. This flap meat steak is pan seared very aggressively that a thick dark brown crust is achieved. Well salted that biting into the crust with the juicy beefy center was beef encapsulated. I heard angels sing in harmony in my head, as I closed my eyes to let the euphoric wave course through my senses. You can get sauces to try (extra charge) but for my first out, I enjoyed the steak just fine without any extraneous saucing. I had never heard of Abatti Farms but after looking it up, they are a small sustainable farm from the Imperial Valley in Socal that raises Wagyu breeds, so American wagyu. Definitely not as fatty as Japanese raised wagyu but still quality inherent fat within the bites. They also featured steaks from another farm that featured the Holstein breed for cattle. I totally want to take this educational ride with them. Classic Mash ($10/5*) Perfectly smooth and hearty texture. Didn't seem like Yukon golds as it wasn't yellowish, so just basic but enrichened with a good dose of butter and probably cream. Nothing to clash with the beef from being overly rich. Simple and solid. Wild Mushrooms ($10/4*) Good assortment of mushrooms all cut into smaller pieces. Intense mushroom flavor with a good hit of fresh thyme. They do more of a dry sauté, almost seems roasted so made it more intense, almost a tad crisp. Most other mushroom preps are more wet and saucy. But this paired with the intense beef, creamy potatoes and sips of their Rhone selection was just sublime. Cognac and Coffee ($13/4.5*) I was too full for dessert so I asked the bartender to make me one I could just sip on. I said I was kinda in the mood for an Irish Coffee type of drink but said you can do your thing. We settled on a variant by using Cognac, Martell I think they used. Just a touch of real soft cream made for a nice aromatic and slow sipper. Maybe next time I'll request a drop of Grand Marnier or some other liqueur to add another layer of flavor. But great finish to an epic winters meal. Regular status here I come.

Party of four on a Sunday night for a birthday dinner. Can you see Moxie on Instagram reels and decided to give it a try for a special occasions dinner. We made a reservation at least a month in advance, and that went well. We were seated probably once we arrive and the hostess was friendly and fast. The table that we were sat at was a perfect size for the five of us. It was comfortable and clean. The bartender was our server. I forgot to get his name. He was wonderful though he had lots of great recommendations. We started with cocktails that were all delicious. They gave us complementary housemaid chips that were actually really good too. For our main courses, we ordered three of the special Wagyu steaks a chicken pot pie and I myself ordered three appetizers to create a meal. Everything tasted great, cooked to perfection, and our only complaint was the sides were a little small. They were barely shareable. The facilities are extremely clean, so that makes me super happy as I like a very neat and tidy and cleanly restaurant to dine at. I would go back, but I don't think anything stood out as I need to go back to eat that unfortunately. The service was extremely great and that actually makes up for the things that were a little lacking.

I've been here a few times for brunch and dinner and my experiences have been pretty great. They have a small but well-curated brunch menu, which also includes a donut cart with fancy artisanal donuts. For dinner they offer nice cuts of beef at a variety of price points, delicious sides and cocktails. Service is courteous, attentive, and friendly and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the ambiance is lovely due to the moody lighting and mid-century modern art deco decor.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a perfect date night spot.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

My husband and I came here on a Sunday evening with reservations at 5:45pm. The restaurant was surprisingly small but got pretty busy by the time we were done with our meal. Our server was really nice and had good suggestions on menu items. We ordered the tomahawk steak to share along with broccolini, mushroom skewers, crispy Yukon potatoes with caviar, beef tallow fries and mashed potatoes. The tomahawk with chimichurri sauce was great. It was cooked rare/medium rare, which is just how we like our steaks. The appetizers/sides were all tasty, but I expected the portions to be a bit bigger for the price. Our favorite appetizer was the crispy Yukon potatoes. The sauce with the caviar was really good. I would definitely order the tomahawk again. Just note that it takes 40 minutes to prepare, so we did have to wait a while before it came out. Since the place was on the smaller side, the tables were pretty close to each other. That didn't bother us though. Our neighbors were nice. I'd be back again and probably order less appetizers/sides and just go for the tomahawk. 4 stars because of the prices/sizes of the appetizers/sides.

Beet strawberry salad was so good. Very fresh for the palate.

Moxie is a small family owned business on the popular Park Ave strips of Alameda. It's cozy and perfect for an intimate dinner, although, it can be hard to hear at times since you are closer to other patrons. The food and wait staff are excellent. Waitress was friendly and responsive and the food was great! We started off with duck crostini that were just perfect. The meat was smoked and the toast just the right texture and then a fig(?) jam on top to finish it off. I couldn't get enough of the beet and strawberry salad. It was fresh and colorful, with some crunchy caramelized pecans and goat cheese. The wedge salad was loaded and met the craving of a good wedge. We shared a filet minion that was served with an herbed butter. Each bite was tender and buttery and rich. We also ordered the chive fritters which were a perfect addition to the meal, crunchy outside and tender inside. Lastly, we splurged with an ice cream sundae with chocolate sauce and toasted almonds. So good. What a meal! We're eager to come back and try the tomahawk steak.

This orange Julius style cocktail was SO pretty, delicious, and just boozy enough.

Adding to my existing reviews, because returning regularly has given me a window into the deep thought processes, warmth and collaboration of the staff and servers, and attention to detail of those who make the food. I feel very at home there, extremely welcome and well taken care of! Come by and check them out soon!

I actually haphazardly stumbled upon this place a few months back after hanging out at a brewery…read morenext door. After scoping out the vibes of the place and the menu, I told myself to make sure to give this a shot. The place is in a redeveloped corner of Alameda right next to the bay. Probably used to be Navy base grounds back in the day. But now there's a couple of blocks worth of hip warehouse-y type of buildings, mostly restaurants, beer spots, some lofts and a little retail commerce. Very happening even though the surrounding area is a ghost town. Dining area not too big, maybe a couple of rooms that can hold about 20-30 heads each. Think there's another room for a private party/overflow. Decor pretty minimalist and stark. Service on the upscale side but in my stay, matched the decor, very minimalist and stark. Efficient enough but a little terse with little emotion. But I know service personality can differ from time to time or person to person. Just my obsy for one out. Daily Crudo ($20/4*) I think this rotates daily. Our choices that day was hamachi or a house smoked sturgeon. The sturgeon really piqued my interest but then it really wouldn't be a 'crudo' anymore would it, since I relate crudos to something 'raw-ish'. So I chose the hamachi. Very pretty plating, I love symmetry and balance. The thin slices of hamachi were indeed fresh, sitting in a stealthy pool of yuzu and olive oil. There are some fresno pepper slices and microgreens that garnish and a delicious nori cracker to break and accompany the crudo. This went really well with my glass of Fume Blanc. Caeser ($17/4.5*) We split this salad as their version sounded super cool. A miso-tinged Caeser dressing, lots of rustic garlic croutons and feathery soft grated parm and a soft-boiled egg. I love properly made Caesers and this was one of the best and unique versions I've ever had. The umami punch and the diverse textures just hit with me. A tad salty for a salad, but the crunchy and refreshing lettuce was able to absorb the salt blast. Huge salad too, like ideal for splitting and ridiculously large if for 1. Beef Short Rib ($43/4*) This was on special that night, and since I wasn't feeling Steak Frites (their only other beef entree option) this kinda fell on my lap. Very heavy and hearty dish. The short rib part was impeccable, super tender, gotta be sous vide. Perfectly seasoned with braising elements completely penetrated into the meat. There was a coarse gravy/sauce that covered which was okay, may have been the braising liquid just pureed. Served atop a huge pile of some risotto that I didn't inquire about. This risotto is what made the dish especially heavy. I ate most of it and it put me in a heavy carb coma. Lol. But there was a nice serving of perfectly cooked broccolini which helped balanced out the rich beef and carb heavy risotto. Chocolate Bar ($13/4.5*) Shared this for dessert as I really couldn't take more than just a few bites after the filling entree. But was this impressive, like high end dessert quality. Whoever does the desserts here definitely has some pedigree. The precision cut bar consisted of 3 layers. A brownie layer; a Bailey's mousse; and a salted caramel layer. I was loving the texture of all the different layers playing on one another. And every flavor was distinct without being overly sweet, which hit the right chords with me. A thick ganache garnished off to the side, which was good but just seemed a bit overkill with the already chocolate dominant bar. I think a cream element would have been a better contrast instead of rich chocolate on rich chocolate. But very minor quip on an otherwise skillful dessert. I finished the last few sips of my glass of Rhone with this dessert, and it left me one happy camper. I would definitely return as their style with flavors hits an accord with me. A little French, a smidge of Japanese and a lot of California. Rounding to a fiver, as this place made me more happy than not.

I ordered the filet mignon with potato purée that was loaded with bacon, chives, sour cream and blue cheese. Both of our orders came with a sparse selection of 3-4 stalks of asparagus that had some yellowish color. It didn't have the freshest taste. My filet mignon was rather small in size, not much flavor and the potato puree could be something better when made at home (I.e. nothing outstanding). The calamari and gnocchi appetizers were OK but not more elevated than what we could get at a conventional diner. The presentation was somewhat reminiscent of cafeteria food. We were disappointed though still finished our meal. The atmosphere at CK is lit just right for romance without being too dark, completely clean, relaxed yet unsurprisingly quite empty for a Saturday night. The value of the meal was not reflective of the high rating that attracted us to CK in the first place. We likely will pay what we did for a better overall dinner experience elsewhere and consider trying out CK for brunch.

We sat outside in their parklet and had the most amazing array of food. I had the salmon salad, which was so fresh, and tasted the rainbow rice and was blown away by the corn fritters. The staff at Spinning Bones were friendly, attentive, and helpful. Highly recommend this place for any meal really!

Been here for a few Father's days cuz my husband loves this place. So far in our visits we've…read moretried: corn fritters, beet salad, St. Louis pork ribs, Trip's Triple, Tsukune Sando, Fried Chicken Sando, Pork Roti, and many of the speciality sodas like POG etc. It's been a solid 5 star place so far, we've only come for special occasions. However last Thur we came for dinner and brought some friends who were excited to try this place for the first time. Beet salad: 5/5 Ribs: 5/5, coleslaw: 1/5 why is the coleslaw not good? It's very soggy and wet and taste old, not crisp and refreshing as it should be... Pls improve the recipe for this... Our to-go order was close to $40, for some ribs and coleslaw, coleslaw did not eat Chicken Sando: 4.5/5 Pork Roti: 3/5 good flavor but pork was chewy and fatty Corn fritters: 4.5/5 Trips Triple: Tri-tip was good 5/5, but not a fan of the chicken 1/5, pork shoulder ok 2/5 would only order the tri-tip again from this combo Service was fine and ambiance cool

10/10! Very cute small restaurant, with amazing atmosphere. Mufasa, who I assume was the owner, was…read moreour main server. I can tell how passionate he is about the food and he was proud we were trying new things. We went for a girls night and every person left satisfied and full. I had the salmon ravioli and chefs kiss! My friends love tiramisu, and I'm not a fan of it because I don't like coffee, but I had about four bites of it because I couldn't stop going back for more, I wish I ordered my own. I can't wait to go back and try more items on the menu.

We started with apps, garlic toast with special Marinara, asparagus wrapped in Filo , beets sprinkled with feto. For dinner we shared the entrees family style which was a delight! Buscatini with chicken, eggplant and lamb, stipe bass with white sauce, palella with seafood. Bucatini and sauce was delicious. The chicken that topped it was a bit dry. Eggplant was good! The lamb was a bit gamey tasting. My son thought it was from New Zealand as their lamb taste is more prominent. Stripe bass with white sauce and veggies good! We wanted salmon but it was sold out. Palella was flavorful and enjoyable. Everything on this plate cooked just right! To continue the celebration we ate dessert! Crème brûlée, raspberry sorbet, chocolate crème. Delectable and hit the spot finish :-) Thank you Asena for capping off a beautiful day with tantalizing our tastebuds.
