I really wanted to rate this place 5 's! The food, service, and Ambiance all deserve 5 's! On top of live jazz music brunch hours on Sundays I wish I can give them 4.5 stars. If you and someone special want to enjoy the experience me and my lady had here I would recommend you come at least 5-10 minutes before opening on Sundays (12pm). It's very small inside. My guess would be 20 people capacity. The service is fast, but also get crowded very fast. We got here 5 minutes before opening and within 15 minutes of sitting they was already at capacity. I've been to The Yard a few times. The food was good... but, the vibe detracted from the experience. It seemed hard to know what was available and when, some times you couldn't eat inside whereas others you could. Then some visits the place was so cold inside that it made eating there a challenge. Oxtail Burger is everything they said it was. A very different take from other cuts of beef. They definitely added different ground meats but the taste of the oxtail is very pronounced. Sweet potato tater tots are awesome. Service is kinda slow. I went in with only two other tables there but it took a while to get to my table. Took the long drive from Philly, got here so hungry that I didn't see the closed to private party sign and still walked in! ‍ got to the counter to order and they politely let me know and still offered to make me a plate of the prepared food they had for the event. I am not sure where to start. I decided that I would take a chance and patronize this establishment because most of the reviews seemed positive. For me, I experienced nothing but disorganization and probably one of the worst dining experiences that I have had to date. Apparently, the time to not patronize this place is on a "Jazz Sunday". At least that is the excuse that I was told. I was seated fairly quickly but none of the normal dining courtesies were extended to me after that point. After sitting for roughly 45 minutes, I had to ask a server to take my drink order. Simple tea with honey. I then had to wait another 15 minutes to receive...a cup with hot water....a tea bag...and honey. Another 15 minutes later, the waiter brings out one of the two orders.....and this I have to bring to his attention. When I call another server over to inform them that we had two breakfast orders...not one....she looked at me as if I had done something wrong. After another 15 minutes of watching My Sweetheart eat her breakfast and me still not get my order, I decided that I had enough. I called for the check and simply left to get breakfast somewhere else....which is probably what I should have done in the first place. My hope is that no one else's experience is ever like mine but if it is, I would not be surprised. If I could give it "no stars", I think that would be a more accurate depiction of my experience. read more

Eight of us came into restaurant to eat. They give shot glasses for water. They need to be bigger drinking glasses. Waiters are new and don't have the sense of looking at a table and when the water pitcher gets half empty its time to bring out another pitcher of water. They still act as if Covid is around and give little plastic containers for dipping sauce and plastic plates and forks. Time to get back into the reality that Covid is over. Food was good but the description of the chicken sandwich don't mention the word chicken it just says organic breast, thats weird. read more

DELICIOUS! This was my first time ordering from this restaurant and the food was great. I ordered for my mother and myself, she got the Shrimp Burger with Sweet potato tots and I got the Oxtail Burger with fries and we got The Chopped Thigh (jerk chicken on roti) to share. Ugh everything was great! The shrimp burger was well seasoned and fresh, the oxtail burger was juicy oh and I can't forget the toppings because those pickles were the perfect crunch and the tomatoes were fresh normally I don't like tomatoes but these were good. And The Chopped Thigh was fantastic, well seasoned flavorful and the roti was soft and warm. Also, get the Walla Sauce it's perfect for the fries. The the shrimp on the burger is juicy, tender and full of flavor. Every bite of the burger is is savory and scrumptious. They didn't provide a place to eat outside either. I didn't realize till after I ordered and paid that I would have to look for a place to sit and eat. The Yard is quickly becoming one of my favorite places for a quick or long bite in Military park. The hot dogs are my favorite thing to get with the onions and the Walla sauce *drool emoji*. Celebrated my birthday here with Sunday brunch. The food and staff are amazing-the location, perfect! Between my friends and I, we ordered the following; salmon cakes with grits & eggs, challah @ me french stuffed with marscapone & topped with peaches & cinnamon, chicken sausage with sweet potato tots, the avocado toast, and the shrimp burger with sweet potato tots. The establishment is BYOB & we brought 2 bottles of champagne & ordered OJ for our mimosas. Our food containers were personalized with our names, and mine were even personalized with happy birthday Oh, and did I mention they put a candle in my challah @ me french toast & sang both versions of happy birthday! If I could give it more than five stars I would. The burgers (tried the oxtail and shrimp burger so far) are always on point as are the fries and sweet potato tots. The staff have always been super friendly and kind, which definitely does not go unnoticed. Small touches like how they write your name on your to-go bag is just thoughtful and often overlooked by other restaurants...which is another reason why they deserve more than 5 stars.
