Conveniently located on Mill Ave. Although a bit tricky to find if you're not familiar with the area. It's tucked inside a small courtyard around some other buildings. The lobby was so fun, they set up puzzles so you can get your brain warmed up while you're waiting. My group did The Inheritance. Very fun room. Tricky puzzles but we managed to escape with 2 minutes left. The theme of the room was perfect for the story behind the room. We want to try Jailbreak next, the group ahead of us sounded like they were having a lot of fun with that room. Definitely recommend trying this venue. read more

My group did "The Attic" and though it wasn't as scary as it appeared to be online, the flickering lights and spooky decor set the right mood. I've never tried an escape room until this one, and I was nervous that I wouldn't be able to figure everything out. HOWEVER, now I think I'm super smart!! LOL! My group finished pretty early and the staff took our photo! (I cannot remember their names but they were SO SWEET!) this was genuinely the worst escape room i have ever been at in my life. like it genuinely pissed me off to no end i was dying to be done. so basically one of the staff members stays INSIDE the room the entire time and literally walks around and basically tells you wtf to do. like we were trying to figure a task out and this guy told us what were missing and just stood over us until we got it right and this was for every single part of it. this was not an escape room like this was genuinely just someone telling me what to do. and another thing that PISSSSSSED me off was during us doing everything he would start CLEANING UP OUR STUFF. like we would put a puzzle together and then find the code and then he would clean it up immediately after and we couldn't go back to look at it or see if we could use that clue for anything else. he literally told us how to do every single thing like i am so angry. such a waste of money and time. pls don't go here. idk how tf they have almost 5 stars because they suck. i wish i could've recorded how he was doing the room for us like it was his escape room not ours. if i could give this place 0 stars i would. read more

I had an extremely awesome experience here. I went with my research group as a team bonding activity and it was awesome. We got to be in the Inheritance room while the other half of the group was placed in the Jail Break room. We were given approximately an hour to escape and to find our Inheritance. There was a bunch of puzzles, where outside the box thinking was required which made it tons of fun and required many brains to work on it. Even though we didn't escape in time (it was really difficult to escape) it was still tons of fun. read more

I hI have just finished "The Island" puzzle at The zone Escape Rooms and had an 2/10 aweful experience. I have done The island twice. the first time I completed this puzzle in early 2019 I enjoyed the difficulty of it and the hands off guide that allowed us to complete the puzzle and ask for hints as we needed. I am an avid escape room-goer and enjoy being able to explore and come up with conclusion to the puzzles. This second time I have done it with a different group and was planning to keep my mouth shut about puzzles I knew the solution to. it did not matter. This was an aweful experience. The guide for our puzzle would not stop talking and giving us hints without being promoted to give us help. it felt like we didn't even get an opportunity to solve the puzzle. Even upon being asked to give us a chance to solve the puzzle and limit his hints to just times where he is prompted twice, our request was ignored and the guide continue to walk us through the puzzles like we were clueless idiots. it was both insulting and made the experience feel like a huge waste of money. ONE OF THE MECHANISMS INSIDE THE VOLCANO WAS ALSO BROKEN and the only time we asked for help with it, we were ignored and no help was given. The guide kept refusing to believe that anything was broken and the issue was that we could not simply figure out the code. We had the code correct and wasted alot of time because of the BROKEN MECHANISM. regardless we still finished with 15 minutes to spare because of all the unasked and unwarned spoilers from the guide. MY RECOMMENDATION IS for anyone who does this puzzle (which actually had fun puzzles itself) to ask the guide to only give hints when prompted. I personally like solving puzzles and seeing if I can complete them without any hints and that opportunity was stolen from me multiple times. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE ALL RUINED BY THE GUIDE read more

Really enjoyed this escape room. We decided at dinner to do an escape room and this one was the closest to us with the best reviews. We were able to reserve a time within a few hours We did the Rush hour room. I did like how it's not linear, meaning you can be working on different things at different times. There were 3 of us in the room and I think that was enough. It is a small room, but it's meant to be on a train. They had screens that showed the city of Tempe passing by like you were on the light rail. Very nice touch. We all enjoyed the escape room and made it out with 10 minutes to spare and didn't even use all our clues!! WOOHOO!! Can't wait to try the other rooms there. This Escape Room was our first experience ever enjoying a new, different and fun activity to do as adults! I really enjoyed the venue! So, an Escape Room is simply this, a small store in a strip mall or business that rented out a space and created 2-4 rooms. These rooms are empty. Then, the business decides which theme they want to use. In our case, we went into a room that was decorated as Grandma & Grandpa's attic. You are then told what your objective is...so for us, it was to find the inheritance that the Grandparents left for us in one hour. We were told that somewhere in the room there was jewelry, cash and stocks & bonds to find. After that, we then saw a short video of the Grandparents telling us their wishes in a humorous and fun way. This was kind of exciting & it felt somewhat real. Also in orientation, we were told the rules of what you can and cannot do. You can touch everything that is not nailed down, open everything that could be opened, keys were found, they opened locked cupboards, jewelry boxes- even a secret room we never expected! There were hints & clues in the heating and cooling vents. Each time we discovered a clue, more was revealed. Also, there was a phone and we could call our, old Uncle Clive who gave us some help as well. We were able to do this in a little over an hour. It was really fun! It was very, reasonably priced. They don't allow anyone to take pictures on the cell phone because they don't want to show the rooms they created. We enjoyed the experience. We plan on going again! There were 8 of us and we first did the inheritance, followed by jail break. The location is a bit hard to find at first. It's in those back alley shops on Mill Ave. The employee who walked us through, explaining everything was really nice and quite entertaining in himself. We had done a couple other rooms at a different place but I have to admit I wasn't expecting these to be that hard and they were SO hard! We barely made it out of jail break! Oh my gosh. I went to my first Escape Room at Escape Zone AZ, and now I'm an addict. I've done both the Inheritance and Jail Break now. Jail Break was my favorite, even though my team lost. We were so close! These rooms are multi-stage clues; it's not just "solve a puzzle and get out." I love how detailed the rooms are too here; it's like you're being dropped straight into a story. The Inheritance was a little easier, but we still needed a good number of clues from Grandmother Ghost to make it out at the end - 30 seconds to spare! Either one is great for both beginner and expert Escapers; we're pretty new to the games, but we ran into someone who had done over 100 (!!!) escape rooms and she still thought these were top-notch. We did Jail Break with 8 people and Inheritance with 5, but the rooms are possible with anywhere between 2-8 people (harder with fewer, but also maybe harder with more since these games rely so much on communication). I can't wait until the Lunar Lab and Catacombs open up. If they're anything like the first two rooms, they'll be highly detailed complex environments. Escape Zone has gotten me hooked! read more

Nothing like a night out with friends where you are trying to escape a room in an hour. This is the newest addition to Mill and I think it's a wonderful addition. The business is owned by a father and his sons. They personally designed the puzzles and crafted the rooms themselves. We had the pleasure to talk to them about the experience and you can see the pride they put into each one. We tried our hands at both the Inheritance and Jail Break. Each one of the rooms had its own little charm. The best part is that items move and it's amazing to see the chain reactions you can set off. Between being chained to your teammates in a prison or perusing some scary old dolls in grandma's attic, it is bound to be a blast! It keeps you thinking on your feet and wondering if everything and anything is a clue. So go check this out already and see if you can escape. It helps to keep your mind in check and comes along with the bragging rights for winning. Now let's fast forward to June so I can play Lunar Lab! I'll be waiting! read more

I just finished the jail with my husband a few minutes ago and I played the inheritance yesterday. I'm really tired because I played 6 escape rooms today (and 5 yesterday) so I'm not going to elaborate on everything right now but I HAD to put up my 5 star review because this is one of the best escape room companies in the Phoenix area. Actually the inheritance is one of my favorite rooms I've played and I love the jail too...and coming from a gal that's played around 125 escape rooms that pretty high praise. The decor, creativity, design, storytelling, immersiveness, hint systems, and even the location is top notch. The owners are passionate and dedicated to creating an amazing memorable experience and they do. I can't wait to play their next rooms...and I'll be driving out from Los Angeles to play them because they are THAT good. read more

Last night we experienced an hour long rush to escape the room. Most of us had never done one before so we all imagined scenes from past horror films or haunted houses. However the owner was to reassure us that this was not the case and was very personable, explaining his vision of the place and walking us through what was going to happen, including an exit button if the panic set in. Also, it is an hour in the room so if you need to use the restroom, use it when he asks prior to going in there. Our group of 6 were led the Inheritance room and an elaborate immersive setup was in store for us. When the timer started, we immediately all dispersed and it became an hour of semi-ordered chaos of finding clues and solving clues that led to more clues (with shouts of joy). Overall they want you to have fun so we were allowed a certain number of hints if we called out, which we used in the last 15 minutes to finish with only 3 minutes to spare! Needless to say, it was a fun experience for all of us as none of us could have expected the complexity of that room. We have already started telling friends about it and hope others enjoy this as well! read more

This is probably the 15th escape room we have done (both in the US and internationally), and this was by far one of the most well constructed and creatively put together escape room we've done. We really loved how intricate and surprising many of the puzzles were, and how cool many of the contraptions the owner created for the room. I was a little leary about being trapped in a "box" but was encouraged by my family that we would survive. We chose an adventure that would require our family of four to actively participate together. Damn! We had a blast.
