Thelma's cafe has been around for many many years. It appears to have many regular customers. Thelma's serves breakfast and lunch. The menu is very extensive. Crepes seem to be one of their specialties. The restaurant was full at the noon time hour. The wait staff was busy and professional. We ordered the three stuffed crepes and the classic eggs benedict. The food was good, ordinary - nothing special that stands out. The prices are in line with the cost of eating out. I cannot put my finger on it, but I was not overly impressed with the food. In fact, I was unhappy with the poached eggs as they were undercooked, the whites were still runny. I do not typically send anything back so I only ate one egg and it did not set well with me. Me and my boyfriend came Sunday morning it was slow not to busy. The waitress who helped us wasn't helpful, and was rude and not aware of what on the menu. I ordered chilaquiles vegetarian style as listed on the menu and she responded "I don't understand what do you want on it then?" Very rude. We asked her three times if the ice coffee that we're ordering comes with refilled she said yes and then when we asked for a refill from another guy because she never came to check on us he said that "they don't do that here." Then when we explain it to the guy what she told us, she comes and tells us "I clearly said it doesn't come with it." I absolutely love finding gems like this restaurant! My sister and I came to have breakfast today and we sat down right away. The service here is super friendly, it really had the happiest vibes! It was such a beautiful start to our day! We started with water, coffee and strawberry mimosas. Ok, so I this is something people probably don't notice or pay too much attention to, but the water, ice and glass was clear! So clean and tasted so good! Usually when you go out to breakfast places and get water, their cups have water spots and the water or ice is on the cloudy side. This water and ice was noticeably filtered/clean. The coffee here is also perfectly brewed! I like my coffee black when it's made right and theirs was! It was so smooth! The strawberry mimosas were so tasty as well. I'd love to have a pitcher of that haha! It was so hard to pick something from the menu because so many things looked so good! For our breakfast my sister and I both had the green chilaquiles and we shared the Nutella crepes. The chilaquiles were the best I've had aside from my moms. These really are better than all the other ones I've reviewed hands down! The tortilla chips were perfectly crispy and held the sauce so well! The sauce is sooo delicious! The chicken was tasty and cubed for the perfect bite. The flavors, authenticity and love that was put in this meal was well received! Love this local spot, especially for breakfast. It is family owned with such great service. Our server Danny is always very attentive in that our coffee cups are always full. There is lots of comfort seating inside and outside with umbrellas to help keep the sun off your face. The restaurant has a nice cozy home feeling with delicious food. I rarely go to Santa Clarita. I'm glad I found Thelma's Cafe. I hear this place has been around since 2007. Well that's a big plus... it survived the recession! The ambience is casual with earthy colors with indoor/outdoor seating. Workers are professionally dressed in black uniform. I was quickly seated and offered to take a drink order. To my surprise, Thelma's serves Micheladas and Mimosas! Although, I ended up with just coffee, I wouldn't mind making another visit in the near future for a mimosa! My dish was a simple Waffle Deluxe with two eggs and two sausage patties. Was it the best waffle combo ever? No. But I wasn't looking for that. My brother told my sis and I about this place and I went today with him. It was really good YUMMY!! A cute cafe that makes you feel at home. Our server Thelma/owner was so friendly and made sure everything we ordered was right, she took care of us. It's a family owned establishment, so everyone is very welcoming, their son as well. He is very humble, amicable, pleasant, and down to earth. I see why my brother have bee going 3 days in a row. Very Good customer service and great food. For food I ordered the chicken pesto and it was soo delicious. Very flavored and just enough amount of pesto. The portions are not that big, but it gives you room to order more. I've been here a few times and every time I've been, the service was ok. I do see that they have regular people who go in and they are a lot more welcoming to them. The first time I went in, one of the workers was cleaning the tables by spraying them with Lysol. Even the black placemats were being sprayed with Lysol. The smell in the restaurant was so strong. The morning I went wasn't too busy but my friend and I felt like we were being rushed out even though there were people who were still there and arrived before us. They may have been some of their regulars but still that's not how you treat new customers. The few times I've gone here, I ordered the salmon Benedict with potatoes. I came here with a friend earlier this month and I'll say it wasn't what I expected. The ambiance was depressing, not sunny and vibrant the way a breakfast/brunch spot should be. The service was just ok. They sat us next to the kitchen when there were so many other tables open. They also seemed friendlier to some of the guests and not as much to us, probably because we weren't regulars. When I asked the waiter if the lobster omelet actually had real lobster, he gave a matter-of-fact answer as if he was irritated by the question. His saving grace was that I appreciated how my coffee cup was never empty. The reviews must be locals who know the owner or people who've been coming since it opened. My service and food was horrible! I came with my group of 4 for breakfast before my sons Senior pics. A plus was we were seated right away (came at about 9am). We were handed menus immediately and told we'd be given a minute. Maybe 10 mins in, no waters offered utensils provided. When our order is taken, it's an older woman, we provided our order and I asked for waters. 10 minutes later, no waters but our drinks come. When our food arrives: My food: I ordered Chicken Fried steak breakfast. It came out last because I immediately sent it back. I ordered my eggs scrambled with cheese. I was very specific as I do not typically eat outside eggs (eggs not made by me). My hashbrowns , mush. The top and bottom were burnt but the inside straight mushy. And my chicken fried steak, COLD and bland. Even when I sent this whole plate back it came back cold! My little one: the kids plate was the saddest thing I've ever seen. We orders the happy face pancake. You would LYAS if you saw what this was. A Mickey Mouse shaped , over cooked pancake (it was 1 shade away from inedible) and they use some cheap strawberry sauce to make a smile face on it. Now what really upset me was the BACON. Oh My... who serves burnt bacon??? BURNT! And like it was normal, like they didn't look at the plate and say there's no way we'd serve this to a child. But they did! I bit into it just to ensure it was and yep. The lady acknowledged I was displeased and advised the cook. They have a young male waiter and he took it away and tried to make light advising that it's just extra crispy bacon and he likes his burnt and would eat it. Again with the eggs, I specifically said cheese because it's difficult to get him to eat eggs so they have to be flavorful. And here's his plate, burnt bacon, overcooked pancake and eggs with no cheese. I sent it back. They didn't provide a new pancake they tried to reheat the one they gave us, happy face is now 50% melted in, it's so hard the spatula marks were on the underside which was burnt at this point, no butter provided. McDonald's would have sufficed, Dennys even! My husb: He asked for his pancakes LIGHT. They came well done. Turkey sausages didn't look appetizing at all, 2 little dry bricks. My Senior: Teenager ordered lobster omelet. He was fine with his food. I had to assertively advised , we were still waiting for waters for the entire table. My son and I were in the area and decided to stop by for breakfast. After we ordered, I sat in the booth looking at my surroundings. Honestly the place was kind of dirty inside. There was food on the walls, the floor looked like it hadn't been swept or mopped, and there was a stack of dirty dishes right next to a customer table. Also when we were finished with our menu the waitress picked them up and dropped them off at the next table. Maybe I'm wrong but shouldn't they at least be wiped down before giving them to other customers? (Not sure if this is how most restaurants do it). On a positive, the food was actually very good and the waitresses were working there butts off. Maybe they just need more help. No one can tell me those sausage pattie's aren't mass produced and come in a sack of plastic in the freezer. There was some kind of odd flavor to the home style potatoes that made them inedible. Two people in our party had them and both couldn't eat them. The oil tasted old. We had cranberry juice for our child and it came room temperature and tasted old. The coffee was extremely weak. Overall, it gave me free-hotel-breakfast vibes to gauge the quality. The place was clean and the service was ok. As a graphic designer, I should have known my fate when I arrived and the menu had papyrus font on the front. Is this an Egyptian-themed restaurant? No? Don't go if you aren't a regular apparently. My husband and I went on 4th of July as many of our regular spots were closed and we'd heard positive reviews from a family member. We were seated right away and ordered within 10 minutes of being seated. Our waiter never checked on us while we waited for our food causing my husband's coffee cup to be sitting empty for quite awhile. We waited at least 30 minutes before noticing how long our food was taking, then started to notice 3 others tables who came in some time after us receiving their food. Still no visit from our waiter to apologize or explain what happened. I'm assuming he either forgot to put our order in, or they were getting their regulars served first. Friendly staff, just felt the prices are inflated for what was received. Underwhelmed with portion size and the menus images didn't reflect what was served. I substituted sausage in my ham and received three or four deli thin ham slices that were warmed on the skillet. Other dish, the image shows a whole banana on the pancake, received 1/4 banana. The biscuits and gravy was a single biscuit and gravy. The side of potatoes were seasoned and cooked correctly just wish it had been more than 4 spoonfuls. My girlfriends ordered the NY Steak and Eggs, and the Chicken Pesto Panini. My girlfriend that had the Chicken Pesto Panini loved her sandwich. It looked and smelled delicious. NY Steak and Eggs, she said was okay but she ate the entire plate so it was good. She said she's had better and is on the hunt for a great NY Steak and Egg. The Breakfast Burrito did not have any kick. The salsa did not have much of a kick either. The burrito was filling but just very plain tasting. The burrito also did not have much hash brown in it, which I like the crunch in my breakfast burrito. I only ate half of the burrito. Thelma's was busy and had a steady flow of customer for both dinning and pick up. Everyone seemed happy with their plates so they had a strong following. We sat right away, which thank goodness but took about 10 minutes just to get menus... Unacceptable already. Bringing out plates individually is beyond me how they think this is okay. Bringing all plates out at once is restaurant 101. We waited 50 minutes just to receive our food and as someone who worked in a fast paced kitchen, this was incredibly sub par. My partner ordered the country fried steak and I ordered the chicken pesto scramble. My scramble was decent, however the hash browns were tasteless, my toast? One was barely toasted and the other was what seemed to be taken out of the loaf bread bag and placed on my plate. My partners country fried steak was flavorless as well as his hash browns and his toast was not toasted at all and cold. What I will say is our server, a gentleman with a tattoo on his neck did continuously come to check in with us which I appreciate in any good establishment. I met a friend of mine for breakfast. I hadn't eaten there in ten years, don't know why. After our breakfast, my wife and I went back the next day for breakfast. I thought the food was very good. I had their California omelet with my friend, and the pancakes with eggs and bacon with my wife. Of the two, i preferred the omelet breakfast, but both were good. Coffee was hot and good, service was excellent and everything tasted great. My one complaint, easily rectified if ownership wants to, is the annoying "Customer Pricing Policy", where the restaurant hits you for a 4% upcharge for credit card use. News flash: 80% of consumers use credit or debit cards, 2% use app payments and only 18% pay with cash. Cash usage is declining year after year. Why make your credit card customers feel like they're being punished for using plastic? Yes...I know there are fees that come off of the top for the merchant (not as high as 4%, but it definitely is an expense). It used to be a planned cost of operating your business, but if you feel like you need to cover it, just build it into your pricing. My omelet was $15.26. Just make it $15.79 and take that annoying sign off of the table. I'd recommend them...a little pricey compared to comps, but food and servide was worth it. read more

This is a great breakfast spot. The staff is attentive and welcoming. Plenty of seating indoors with some tables outdoors and ample parking. Today everyone enjoyed breakfast to the sound of The Beatles playing on the TV. We ordered the Waffle Deluxe, the Chorizo Egg Scramble, and the kids had pancakes with fruit and Mac n Cheese. No one complained about the food, possibly a first for the youngest critics in my fam bam. As for my meal, the waffle was cooked perfectly with enough softness to part ways with a swipe of the fork. The applewood bacon was crispy but not burned and I had plenty of it. Scrambled eggs are a hit or miss for me but Thelma's did not disappoint, they were again cooked perfectly for my taste- enough to not be runny or dry and over cooked. We'll be repeat customers!
