We contacted Theodore Robins Ford via email, after dealing with a few other Ford dealerships. In the email we specified the model of car we wanted including the options we wanted. The internet sales rep we dealt with is Courtney Cox. From the moment we spoke to her, it was obvious that she took our request seriously, unlike the other dealerships we had spoken to. She was great the whole way through. She even stayed late to accommodate us, charged the vehicle, had it fueled and washed, and answered various questions we had after the purchase via text message. Terrible dealership... they are not straight forward nor do they try and help understand what is within your price range. Sales managers have no critical thinking skills at all it's like they don't really care to make sales. Oh well I went over to Cadillac suburban down the street where I received quality service. Oh and they ran a full credit check without even collecting my signature or explaining to me what they were doing. When I pointed this out to one of their managers he flippantly said "well it's only a couple points just dispute It if you care" so unprofessional. Courtney Cox is the best salesperson we have done business with when buying a car! She did not pressure us or "hand us off" during the whole process. She obtained answers to all our questions in a timely manner. Her follow up after the sale was outstanding. I felt completely confident that she would help us, whatever we needed. In fact, I had trouble one night getting my keys out of the ignition and she helped me immediately. I also got a little scrape on my side mirror and she took care of getting me over to the body shop to touch it up for no extra cost. I have always wanted a Ford Edge but thought it was more than I can afford but they were able to get me into one and I couldn't be happier! My husband and I have had our fair share of experiences with car dealerships. Most are sub-par or too "sales-y." While searching for a particular car we wanted we dealt with many other dealerships. Some overpromised and underdelivered when it came down to it. However, our experience here has stuck out. By far they have the best prices and inventory. The staff was very friendly and helpful from the very beginning. Ed was who we worked with and sold us our car. We test drove with another man (but I don't recall his name unfortunately, but he was also very helpful.) We took our baby with us (who slept majority of the time) and while my husband test drove I stayed with Ed who was very personable and kind. I imagine most people would see a couple with a small child and be annoyed but the staff didn't seem to mind. I noticed they even had an area for children and a fish tank that kids seem to like. While getting everything in order and ready we talked with Ed getting to know him and hear about his life and family. He even introduced us to the service department. It was nice to see genuine happy people who love what they do from the sales, test drive, financing until we left the lot. I would definitely recommend this dealership! read more

Service Department- I had a maintenance issue which was covered under warranty. I showed up late Saturday afternoon and even though Ned Shortsleeve was slammed he greeted me and said he would be right with me. He explained they are busy and would have my car issue resolved no later than Tuesday, since they are closed on Sundays. Service was completed at no charge and on time. He sent a driver to pick me up since I didn't have a ride there. Mike picked me up on time and dropped me off back at the dealership in time to make my 2pm appointment later that day. Finally, they fully charged my car for free. I leased this vehicle here a year and a half ago and was impressed with sales as well. Great Job! read more

Having been driving Ford Family vehicles for 60 years. This is far-and-away the worst service department ever. Visiting California in January 2017. Had an accident, and chose this dealership to do the work. It became quite apparent to me that they had little interest in providing timely repairs. My guess being that, as I was not from California, they new they were not dealing with a potential customer. I just shrugged it off. Last week, I contacted them to request they email me the work order/service order. Received an immediate reply from a lady there, who promised they would get back to me. Three days later, having received two more promises, and still no paperwork, or calls, I contacted Ford Motor customer service. Lo and behold, one day later I received an email from the dealership advising they had SNAIL-MAILED me the paperwork. The final straw appears to be that some of the work they supposedly did, has failed for no apparent reason. read more

Very disappointed. I had purchased 2 autos from Bob Robbins many years ago. Some of my older neighbors knew Bob's dad, Theo, the founder of the dealership. Years back, I worked with Bob relative to community issues in Newport Beach. He was very active in city issues. He was iconic. He passed away a few years ago and the culture of doing business at the dealer has changed significantly. What brought us there was that I received a letter from the dealer offering "up to" about 3k+over book and 0% interest through 4/14/19, so, my wife and I went there today. First, the young salesman who helped us actually embellished on his answers when he did not know the answer to a question. We then met the Sales Mgr. who was unaware of the 0% offer. He said"those things can change". I showed him the offer which was valid to 4/14-he shrugged. Although my car is pristine, I did not really expect them to offer the 3k over book, however, I did not expect it to be only about $350 over kelly book. He said my leather seats were cracked. They were not cracked, not even close to being damaged. The seats, like the care were pristine and cared for quite deli What really made us walk away was when the Mgr. said because new car sales are down, they cannot make the good offers. I asked, rhetorically, I have to pay more because your business down?" He shrugged again. I suggested that perhaps I should contact a larger dealer. I purchased my last two cars from Lake Elsinore Ford. It's a drive out there, however, they understand loyalty and I trust them. It's truly unfortunate that things have changed so drastically since Bob's passing only a few years ago. UPDATE 4/12/19 I did contact Chris Lancaster at the dealership as he requested. He is the GM, and candidly, he is the true professional. He made certain representations to me re still keeping my mind open for doing business with this dealer. I am away right now and there are 21 emails between us working on a deal. I think there is a very good probability that we will get there, but if for some odd we don't, I am very much impressed with him. He does what he says he is going to do, when he says he is going to do it and he does not push. We are meeting in 4 days when I return. UPDATE 4/28/19 I met with the GM Chris Lancaster and the sales rep Chris Alcocer on Friday 4/26 after work. It all worked out well. I did purchase the vehicle at an excellent and very competitive price and the ultimate amount that they paid for my trade was exceptionally fair. They both took the time to complete the process very appropriately. At my request, we are working on my purchasing upgraded rims and I suspect it will work out well. After I came home with the car, I noticed a deep scratch on the trunk lid by the emblem that I could not buff out. It may actually require a replacement of that piece. I called Chris Lancaster right away who said not to worry, it will be taken care of without issue and based on my experience with him, I completely trust his word. I have no reason not to. I was nervous about taking my car to a dealership, but the Fusion I have had a couple of minor recalls. My service advisor was Frank S. whom I will absolutely trust in the future. I had a number of questions for him, which he took the time to answer. He is not the typical pushy service writer and I agreed to have the oil changed, filters etc. frank did call me (always the dreaded call) and suggested that I change my wiper blades. Took my car in to get a repair for the recall placed on my vehicle on Tuesday morning. The repairs were over saw by Pete. Thursday night 5:30, when I came to pick my car there was a crack in my windshield, that was not there when I dropped off my vehicle. I called them as soon as I noticed it but they had already closed for the night at 6pm and I was told to call the next morning when they opened at 7 am. Next morning I called at 7:30am.", I spoke with Frank in the service department who told me he had to speak to his manger, who got in at 10am. Frank told me he'd call me back as soon as he spoke with his manger. I missed a call from him he left a message explaining the manger wasn't in yet but wanted to know the location of the crack in my windshield. I called him back got the voicemail left a message giving him the details around 9:30. Still never heard back tried calling Frank at his extension again and reached his voicemail again. So I called directly to the service department once again at 5, because I came to the realization I still hadn't heard from anyone and now I was told the manger left for the day and wouldn't be back till Monday. I was also told there was nothing anybody could do till after they spoke to the manger. I am extremely upset with the customer service here. Zach Dawson did an amazing job getting me the best deal on my 2014 Focus ST by over $800 on the next lowest bid and I called 10 different dealers. I got the exact color and options that I wanted and love the car after driving it for a month now. Zach always immediately responded to my questions and gave me his full attention and operated in a respectful and appreciative manner. After deciding that I didn't want the alarm that the dealer offered, they adjusted the price and refunded the cost of the alarm. Additionally, when the refund amount was accidentally messed up, Mr. Robins himself contacted me and offered a $100 gas card and I got a check in the mail for the difference on the payment right away. All in all, this dealer is one I would definitely recommend and I would suggest any potential Ford buyer to contact Zach Dawson to see what he can get you on price. I'd be surprised if he doesn't beat any price you've gotten. The next Ford I buy will most likely again be with Zach as I can't imagine getting better service... Beware! I got a Coupon in the mail for "The Works Vehicle Checkup for $39.95, FREE Battery Testing and FREE Complimentary Car Wash. Sounds GOOD RIGHT? But quickly after arrival and checking in, my car now in this dealerships hands, the sweet price of only $39.95 begins to grow. First, "Your car takes six quarts of oil, not the 5 offered in the deal". So, "Cha Ching!" Price just went up. Then there's the charge to dispose of the "old oil" and again "Cha Ching!" Price just went up again. Then the man tells me my car purchased in late 2013 has a "Filthy Cabin Filter" (this is to filter the air for our air conditioner) and again "Cha Ching!" That will be an extra $90! I DECLINED this service since they sell the Cabin Filters right across their own lot for only $25 and it takes simply 2 screws undone, switch out filters and replace screws! So NO DEAL! Then I am told that my FRONT Wheels are "Out of Alignment". So "Cha Ching!" That will be $90. Again, I DECLINED and think I will have my "less expensive auto mechanic friend check them out for about $15 IF they need alignment. So after all these attempts to "ADD ONTO MY GOOD DEAL" and ALL I COULD DECLINE to, they STILL MANAGED TO JACK MY BILL UP FROM THE ORIGINAL $39.95 to $48.95!! REALLY? I forced the Rep to DISCLOSE to me how it got to the new amount EXACTLY and he got all flustered and just couldn't EXPLAIN IT! So he dropped my bill back down closer to what I should have paid and I finally agreed and paid it. About 2-3 weeks ago went to the service department for the very last time. Went in for the standard 60K mile maintenance, and left with $400 worth of unneeded service. They went through and cleaned all the fuel system, and intake system, but somehow it didn't cross their minds to change the intake air filter??? The intake air filter and the cabin air filter were the ONLY two recommended services according to the manual. Additionally: They wanted to change the coolant ($140), the transmission fluid (140$), and Oil (50$). Oil Yes...Coolant and Transmission fluid? Those are supposed to happen at 100K and 150K respectively. The service guy was very hard to understand (Very quiet), and had a bad attitude. I guess I cant ask for my money back since I ignorantly trusted them and signed for it (it being service that was not required or suggested). Definitely never going for a dealer service again. Let me start by apologizing. I used to take my F350 here, but got a great deal on a Mustang somewhere closer to home. I went to that other place for service and drove away before letting them even touch my car, the service was so bad. I apologize because I should've stuck with Theodore Robins. I brought my mustang in for its first service and a few warranty issues. To be honest, I told Greg my advisor, that it might be difficult to duplicate two of the concerns. Not only did they track both down, but got them taken care of. They are still working on the transmission concern, but Greg calls to update me every day! ABHORRENT CUSTOMER SERVICE After 3 1/2 years of dealing with this dealership, giving them chance after chance, I am drained. They do not respect their customers. They take advantage of first time New car buyers and treat customers coming in for service as if they were idiots. I am not an incompetent person, I am really rather mechanically savvy, but when I leave this service department I feel like my brain is going to explode. I take meticulous care of my car. I've purposely taken it to get the brakes checked 4 times and up until the $1,400 maintenance package expired, my brakes (included in package) were fine. In fact, over the last 2 years and 10,000 miles, my brake pads have even gone up in thickness from 6mm to 8mm, magic! But as soon as my package expired, and only 3,000 miles later, my brakes need changing, they're at a 5? Weird. My transmission is slipping and the window motor is slamming the window going up, but no one can seem to figure those issues out. Upon getting the recalled airbag replaced, my steering wheel was banged up, but no one will take the blame for that and they even have the audacity to offer to show me how simple the process is and how it's impossible for it to have happened then. I don't care how it happened! I just know I didn't damage it and they did. My perfect car is scarred from them, not me and they don't care. The insulation around the battery is disintegrating, but I'd have to pay to have that replaced. After only 3 years, for 1) it shouldn't be turning to powder in my hands and for 2) fix the poor quality item you are selling. The Owner, David Robins responded to my complaints one time in April asking what I thought would be fair regarding my "service nightmare experience". Since my reply to his email, I have heard nothing. My car is there now for one final shot, I even emailed him to let him know this is that chance to fix this "service nightmare experience", I have not heard one thing. Don't be fooled. This dealership is out to sell you a car, all the bells and whistles to go with it, and then point and laugh when you actually maintain your investment. The sales department will say anything for their commission and I'm not sure how the service department is compensated, but for how I've been treated the last 3 1/2 years, they should be paying me. The service advisors will ignore you until you walk up and practically beg for help. At this point I would rather drive the extra 10-20 miles away for the next dealership just to stay away from them. Service department desk really needs improvement. Took a 1989 F-250 in for an inspection after purchasing it from another owner. Was charged $180 for a one-hour inspection, which is fine, but it ended up taking 29 hours (turns out my truck wasn't even at the dealership, they moved it off site somewhere?). While the truck isn't in the best of shape, I expected a write up of critical issues that should be taken care of. I only received the invoice, no list. Went back another day to request the inspection write up, but Pete wasn't in that day and the other employees couldn't find a digital record of the inspection notes. Went back another day and found Pete, who eventually found the inspection notes and handed me a piece of scratch paper with bullet points on it....I initially told Pete that I would probably not be able to afford all the repairs at once which may have affected the follow through. Nonetheless, a subpar experience compared to Toyota of Huntington Beach. I'll take my rig and cash elsewhere - I recommend the same for others. read more

I purchased a used 215 Fusion in July 2015, since owning this verified used vehicle I have repeated dead batteries and no resolution from the dealership service department. Every time the service department can not find out why the vehicle goes dead. They even called Ford corporation to inquire. I have finally resolved to call Ford toad side assistance. So fact since July 2017 and today they ( ford roadside) have come 12 times. I am at my wits end. Maybe this review will get the attention of the upper management team at the dealership! ; not kist the service manager. We'll see. read more

I went into Theodore Robins Ford with a coupon that I received from the Auto Show with the intention of test driving a truck and to receive the $50 incentive for the test drive. Without introducing himself or shaking my hand, the guy saw the certificate and said do you really want to test drive or do you just want the sign off for the free $50. I said that I really did want to test drive. He went into another room with a certificate and I could hear him complaining about getting all these certificates from the auto show. It was clear to me he did not want my business. He came back to the main room and asked what kind of car I wanted to test drive and I said the Ford Raptor. He said that wasn't an option. I told him that I presently have a newer model Chevy Silverado LTZ and was a serious buyer but clearly he didn't want my business so I left. I bought my vehicle in June they mentioned to me that the car went through a detail service making sure nothing was wrong with the vehicle and at ford they strive for great service. Well here I am a couple months later dealing with the check engine light its a 2015 Vehicle I should not be dealing with this issue this soon. When my lease was up, I was lucky to meet Raffi who not only made every effort to facilitate a smooth purchase of the vehicle, but hooked me up with a bumper to bumper extended warranty at half the price quoted by other dealerships. In addition, Raffi resolved the previous warranty dispute and got my repair completed at no charge. He even had my car washed.
