Not only is the customer service here awful, but things go missing from my car after an oil change and the service manager told me I shouldn't leave valuable items in my car. He told me point blank there was nothing he could do because the camera footage won't allow him to go back far enough to review. Purchased my fiesta st 7 months ago and referred a friend to this dealership. My friend then purchased a new Ford Focus st and was Almost back in to corner about the alarm system in his vehicle. Apparently the boss is who I spoke with and got completely aggressive with us and lying about being able to uninstall the software when it wasn't installed in the first place. Not a professional salesman or boss. I'm in sales myself, number one rule is full disclosure. As we where arguing another rep tried to butter us up by saying what a great apr percentage my friend got wrong time to jump into myself and the boss/ manager yelling at each other over him saying we as customers where holding him hostage- (exact words). "Let's be reasonable" was the response I received from Frank Serrao, the Used Car Manager at Theodore Robins Ford in Costa Mesa, when I asked for my money back on the used car they sold me. I bought a 2013 Ford Fiesta, Certified Pre-Owned for $12,540.00 in February 2016, $2,500 down with a $500 trade in. One month later, the rear window malfunctioned and the transmission began hesitating, rattling and lurching. I called the service department and was told that I would need to leave my car for at least 3 days for their technicians to diagnose the problem. I use my vehicle for my work so this was not convenient. I was assured that any problem would be covered under warranty (after you pay the $100.00 deductible!). I scheduled the service in April. A faulty clutch was the problem-replaced it and fixed the window. Took almost a week for the repair. I go on my way, driving my Fiesta for 3 weeks, when the car starts with the same symptoms. I'm driving in the middle lane of a 3 lane street that has a 45mph speed limit when the car stops accelerating. YIKES! Luckily no car slams into me, but now I am not a happy camper. Had the car towed to the dealer and heard the same thing...3 days for the technician...yaddy, yaddy, yadda. Complaining about being without a car again, they offered a rental car at no charge, WTF. That wasn't offered the first time! Anyways, the second time Robins Ford had my car for 7 days to replace the clutch. So, I googled Fiesta transmission problems and saw other Fiesta owners having the same problem with the "dual clutch" design. Uh, oh... OK, I had a defective car (my fault-didn't do enough research) I asked to speak with the Used Car Manager. Here's where Frank comes in to my story. I requested that Robins Ford take back the defective-dangerous car they sold me, pay off the loan amount ($8,000.), refund my down payment, trade in value and reimburse the 3 car payments I had made, all totaling $3,500. "Let's be reasonable" was not the response I wanted to hear! They had me between a rock and a hard place. We negotiated, Frank agreed to take the car back, paying off the balance of my loan. I left Robins Ford without a car, ripped off $3,500 for 3 months of driving an economy used car! Walking away from the dealership, I witnessed the Fiesta pulling out from the corner gas station, then entering the car wash/detail place across the street to be cleaned. I am convinced that this defective Fiesta was going to be available for sale later that day. In my opinion,Theodore Robins Ford-Costa Mesa is not trustworthy and is willing to repeatedly sell a defective vehicle. If you really want a Ford, go elsewhere. Buyer beware! read more

So my flex had a recall unbeknownst to me. As I'm driving home late on the freeway the car dies, I had my flex towed to the dealership and the next morning spoke to Moe. The part needed to be ordered and I was told that it would take a few days but Moe, my advisor said he will try to get it in sooner. By 3pm that same day Moe called and said my car was done and that I didn't owe a cent!! Wow! My car was finished in less then a day at absolutely no cost to me! I received a notice in the mail that they were looking for a 2013 C-max, which I leased from their facility. I only have approximately 4,200 on my lease and you think they would want to make a deal. Apparently not the case. Was told to keep the car for 7 more months until my lease expired and come back then. This isn't the first time I've had a bad experience with this dealer. I will not be back to purchase my vehicle with them when it's time. I will also not recommend friends or family since they don't work with even returning customers. read more

Service department SUCKS!!! Communication and customer service is NOT good. They have had our vehicle for almost a week and are telling us now that they can't aligned it right. Isn't this supposed to be their job? Left manager several messages he never returned my call then finally when I demanded to speak to a manager they are able to get a hold of him. He said he would look into this and get back to me in 10-15 min he didn't and had the same horrible rep we have been having to deal with call us to tell us nothing new and that he hasn't told us already. Horrible experience in the service department. I made an appointment for routine service on my car. The appointment was confirmed via email and they even sent me a text the day before to remind me. I arranged to leave work early. After arriving at the service department and standing for several minutes with no one even looking up from their stations, I asked a woman if she could help me. She very begrudgingly looked my name up and pointed me to the man my appointment was with (Ted). When I got to Ted's work station, after standing there for several seconds without being acknowledged, he finally asked what I needed. I told him I had a 3:45 appointment for maintenance on my car. His response was that he wasn't working. I replied by saying ok, who is my appointment with? His response was that his guys leave at 2 and I could leave my car for tomorrow. I again reminded him I had an appointment. His response was 'they' don't have a filter for that...I have no idea what this means but ultimately I had to leave. I don't know what their internal system issues are, but it's certainly not my problem. This guy didn't have a care in the world that I walked right out. I will not be back and they've lost a customer. I will continue to take my car to Auto Nation Ford in Tustin. read more

WOW... Where do I start? First, I brought my car in to be serviced for a transmission issue that seems to be very synonymous with my make and model (3rd time). Ford Motor Company had sent out a letter stating that because of the transmission issue they would warrant the drivetrain for 150k miles. However it seems that the "clutch" in an automatic transmission is not covered in this mess ($2,000.00 later). So fast forward 3 weeks and a new clutch! Guess what? Same problem!!! So I bring it back to have it resolved and the keep my car for 2 full weeks. I hear things like maybe it has a bad clutch again and we need to replace it with a new one! Really? I feel that the clutch the first time didn't even need to be replaced. I had to call every other day to get an update when they told me they would call me at the end of the day to give me a report. I felt like I was getting the total run-around. I called the General Manager and left a message on his voice mail and to no surprise no return call, not even 2 weeks later (that's customer service)!!! If the General Manager can't call on his customers then you better believe that the people below him won't either... "lead by example"! Guess I learned again that you don't bring your car to the dealership even for warranty work!!! Funny how all the sales get 5 stars but the service dept. only gets 1-2 read more

I live in Arizona and I had purchased a Ford Focus from Theodore Robin's in Costa Mesa and I will start by saying the salesman Chris was very helpful and professional but the financing department and lady that deals with the DMV are a complete joke. They lack communication and have no concern for you after they get your money. After almost a month has gone by, I had not received anything to help me register my vehicle in AZ and they didnt communicate at all with Ford Credit. I call the lady at the dealership that deals with the DMV and she has absolutely no idea what she is doing and will not send me any proof of registration so I eventually get so fed up I drive 3.5 hours just to grab a piece of paperwork that could've taken them 2 minutes to put in the mail. After 2 months of buying the car, I finally get my AZ plates and registration. read more

I have a 2018 Ford Explorer Platinum. It's the first non-German car we've had. I like it- the MPG is terrible, but the thing seems well-built and the cargo space is awesome for dogs etc. When the "change oil soon" indicator lit up, I called the dealer I bought the vehicle from- the first service is free, but there is a four-hour window for completion. I called Robins and a crusty guy answered the phone and seemed irritated that I adhered to Ford's guidelines on service/oil change, saying that I should have changed it at 5k miles (pre-synth standard, and definitely not Ford's current guidance). I decided to go into Robins because it was close and the wait was ostensibly 1.5 hours. Frank in service was really responsive and polite. I didn't want a wash because I had to get the vehicle detailed as it was pretty dirty. So Frank told me that it would be ~one hour. He also suggested that while changing the oil more frequently is recommended, Ford's guidance is valid. An hour later I returned to the office and my vehicle hadn't been touched because they're busy. Fine, It was the Thursday before Christmas. Frank told the mechanic to prioritize it, and, voila, in ~30+ minutes it was out. So- Frank was professional, as was the mechanic. The service was done relatively promptly, So for ~ $65 (as opposed to free with the dealer from whom I bought the Explorer) I saved time. Frankly(No pun intended), I'll probably look at buying future vehicles here (SUVs). read more

So i got my focus hatch back 2012 from Carmax on 8/2/15 and find out the cruise control isn't working the next day. After few days (8/7/15) carmax was not able to fix it so they deliver the car to Ford Theodore Robins for the "professional" repair. After leaving my car at Theodore Robins for about 3 weeks the problem is not resolved and i was asked to pickup the car until the PCM module arrive. Finally, the part arrived and I received a call from Andrew on 09/25/15. I scheduled an appointment with him on 10/01/15(Thursday) Here is the even worst story begin!!! I was there around 7:15am and was told that Ford will cover my 1 day rental from Enterprise. So i walked there to get the rental car (the other unfortunate story began, because i got a car with almost empty gas and i was already late at work plus I work at 50 miles away) and Andrew promise the cruise control will be fixed before they close. I drove the rental car from work which is 50 miles away and returned the rental car. Then Andrew found out the car is not ready for pickup. What a surprise!! So he couldn't have told me early because he was sooooo busy and promised again that the car will be ready on Friday (10/02/15) and said he will call me to update me with the car status. After getting off at work on Friday, no calls from Andrew as well. I called 3 times to his direct line and went straight to the voicemail. Then I called the service department and found out he is off on Friday!! What a surprise. By the time I realized Andrew was not at work on Friday, I was already on my way to Ford Theodore Robins. Anyhow, I called Service Department to find out my car's status and no one....NO ONE .....can find my information on their data base. SOOOOOOO pissssssssed. I have never ever ever been treated so disrespectfully. I kept being transfer to different person to find my car. Finally, i provide them my license plate number and realized the car was register under Carmax. For my point, whether the car is under my name or the third party dealer, Ford Theodore Robins should be able to assist their customers at all time. I felt helpless when they kept telling me they don't know instead of looking for other alternative to assist customer. I helped them to find my car by asking them to look into license plate!!!! and Andrew didn't let me know he will be off on Friday and didn't have his colleagues to follow up with me!!!!!!!!!!!! I have to ask questions to find out more information of my car ( I couldn't remember that person's name because i was very upset) when they supposed to provide outcome or solution like when the car will be ready or will they cover my rental cost. Over all worst customer service by far. I felt being treated disrespectfully and wished i have never ever gone to Ford Theodore Robins before. P.S. I don't even know when my car will be ready for pickup (they said maybe Monday or Tuesday (10/5/15 or 10/6/15) and will they even be able to fix the car!! read more

I purchased a "Certified Pre-Owned" Ford F-150. I was sold the story about how all the used vehicles on their lot go through a rigorous selection program, and receive a 150,000,293,820 point inspection before it is certified. To make a long story short, I noticed a noise in the engine that concerned me, so I took it in. They told me that my 3month warranty didn't take effect for another 30 days (how does this make sense), and that the car would be fine until then. It is now broken down on the side of the road, I can't even drive in to the service department. Please don't trust these con artists. With the ethics that these people do business with, it's a wonder that they are still in business. Buyer Beware!!!!! read more

Such a great dealership. Every interaction we had was enjoyable. Even when my father spilled his coffee a Salesperson was there to mop up. So great staff all around but I have to say that my personal specialist was nothing but class. Vernon took care of me from the moment I walked into the lot. The sale took a couple weeks but he made sure to follow up with me and we finally (I have a really busy schedule) set a date for a second consultation. Vernon was there at 9am to help us out and when we drove off the lot later that day he still had a smile on his face.
