It's hard to find good, quirky clothes on the peninsula, but there are a handful of spots that throw it down pretty well, and Therapy is one of them. A boutique version of Anthropologie+Urban Outfitters, only much less mass scale, so you can get something one of a kind, and don't have to worry about becoming accidental twins with a skinny post-teen hipster walking around NoPA. Check out the jewels and general odds and ends. Great hats selection -- especially if you like San Diego Hat Co or Goorin Brothers. I spotted my girlfriend sporting the most fabulous-est of sunglasses. I swear she bought them somewhere expensive but she divulged that she bought them at Therapy for only $14. I couldn't believe it! They looked expensive to me. She said they didn't have a brand, came in charcoal grey as well as black and were only $14. She said she purchased them at the MV location but I decided to try my luck at the Burlingame store. With only the information my girlfriend gave me, I called the Burlingame store and spoke with Janel S. I gave her the three descriptions I had to help me find them. Having never been to Therapy, I didn't realize that all their sunglasses came on one rack, had no brand, and were all $14! So my descriptions weren't very helpful. I told Janel I did have a photo of the glasses, and she asked me to email her the photo and she could look around for them. By the end of the day, I had a return call from Kelly who told me she and Janel had been working on locating these exact sunglasses. Kelly then started texting me photos of possible matches and even modeled them and sent me those photos as well. What great customer service! The end result of their very helpful customer service resulted in me driving down to the store after work to check out what they found. And yes, they found the pair I was looking for, albeit they only had it left in black. I was so impressed by their helpfulness and willingness to assist a customer. Thank you Janel S and Kelly! Therapy may be exactly what I need. Because I've been a shade OCD about weight loss recently, I've gone on several shopping binges down Burlingame Avenue. You thought I meant psychotherapy, didn't you? Ummmm, no. Been there, done that. Retail therapy is much less expensive. Unique pieces that are a little on the trendy side and may be on the edge of what a 35-year old can pull off. It is a little expensive, but I'm cheap, so my assessment is by no means an effective barometer of affordability. I tried on things that actually fit and not make me look like I was trying to stuff my body into a sausage casing, but I digress. Le, the very helpful and bordering on over-solicitous manager, kept bringing me $184 jeans. Girlfriend. Did you not see me carefully combing through your 2 sales racks throughout the entire store? A modern day wonder shop located on charming shopping area of Burlingame. You'll be cute-ing everything on these fully stocked shelves. A person like myself can end up spending hours looking at the nicks knacks and distinctive fashion pieces here. But I was on a time restraint since I was browsing with my girlfriends. As for girlfriends everywhere, they are your cheerleaders and will "rah rah rah sis umbra" you into buying all things frivolous. I don't need it but just want it. I ended up buying a $8 contact lens holder in a shape of a nerdy black eyeglasses and a $6 owl eyes contact lens holder. Cheesy, don't need, goods. Just what I want, right?! Exactly! Customer service was excellent and the cashier knows how to make small talk of drinking mimosa's in the afternoon. She even provided tips on how to get more booze into your mimosas at a restaurant located next to Therapy shop. :) This is not a store to be missed, be sure to pop in to buy frivolous items, like ME! read more

Horrible experience. I went into this store with my girlfriend and asked the owner/employee for their store hours, and the owner/employee was rude and condescending to me. She went on about how she stayed open till 7:45 pm on Christmas eve and never answered my question. Not very good customer service at all. read more

Therapy store is a treasure on Burlingame Ave. Their merchandize is affordable and eclectic. I love their unique card selection. You can hear customers giggling out loud while reading the captions. I have purchased precious baby clothes, books, stunning one of kind pieces of jewelry, trendy purses and gorgeous sweaters. But what i was most impressed by was the outstanding customer care. We are all familiar with the decline in service since Covid. Most sales people are disengaged and look like all they want to do is go home. Not Gabrielle Clark! I was in the store last week and noticed a sweater in a medium that I loved. Gabrielle approached me to offer to take my items to a dressing room. I told her all the items I like were not in my size. Gabrielle immediately called other stores and told me that the smalls will be transferred to the store Sunday and she will hold them for a week. Can you imagine that kind of service! Gabrielle reflects the philosophy of Therapy stores. I will continue to be a loyal customer. read more

Cute little shop with random little treasures! I don't really look at the clothes here, so I can't really comment on that. They have lots of cute and quirky items perfect for gifts, like candles, books, cards, jewelry, funny magnets, even onesies for babies! This is what I've experienced. I went to this store after visting my boyfriend. My Boyfriend lives upstairs above Trapeze restaurant right next to the store. So I went in the store the employee said hi to me. But didn't even asked me if I needed help. The employee was on the P.O.S register that had a computer internet service. I seen her on the internet instead of helping a customer out. I saw something that I liked but I wanted to think about it. So after some thinking I asked my Boyfriend to get the purse that I wanted. So he went into Therapy today and tried so hard to get help and the people there couldnt help him. Here is a text that he sent to me I'll put it here. Boyfriends Text: Went in to get your purse and stood there for 1 and half mins before I announced myself to three employees. I explained I would have bought it but obvisously I didn't exist sorry! super cute store in burlingame! this is a bay area franchise that also has locations in mountain view, los altos, and campbell (and east bay, i believe), and each location has a slightly different set of offerings. whether you're shopping for a housewarming gift, a birthday person, your significant other, or just yourself, this is the perfect place to browse and shop. they have an awesome selection of shoes, dresses, hand bags and accessories towards the back, and it can easily be a fashionista's paradise! i picked up a cute headband accessory the other day and plan to wear it as part of a costume for a themed cocktail hour later in the week. the gals working there were super friendly and helpful in giving me suggestions for costumes. it's a good thing b/c i know so little about fashion, and even less when it comes to finding an outfit for a themed event. you can park along the streets by the meters, or in the city lots, or if you don't mind walking a few extra blocks, park closer to bayswater/peninsula where the street parking is free! read more

Love me some Therapy ;) They carry it all; men's, women's, kids, little knick knacks, accessories, greeting cards, fun gifts, everything but the kitchen sink. I went there today (03/18/14) and the 2 ladies working were absolutely wonderful. They helped me try on a few items and were so helpful and sweet. I initially purchased a colorful, flowy, sleeveless top ($43), and after a few drinks down the street went back and purchased another coral colored, knit top ($32) lol. In any case got 2 gorgeous tops that I absolutely adore while putting about half the store on my wishlist. Therapy is one of my favorite stores on Burlingame Ave! read more

A much smaller version of Urban Outfitters on all scales. Clothing selection is okay compared to the stores in LA but for norcal, its pretty decent. Prices are a bit higher than I'd like but much better than Anthropology and Urban. I wouldn't say they're clothing is the most fashionable or the best quality but it's still a fun place to visit. Some of there items are found to be priced at higher than retail value and their discounted/sale section isn't always much of a sale. They have some trinkets in the front of the store (home decor, frames, clocks, etc.) and also have a small section for guys. For men's they don't have much choice in shoes. They only supply Toms. When hitting up Burlingame Avenue, this is definitely one of my stops. read more

Therapy reminds me so much of the little neighborhood boutiques sprinkled all over West LA and Pasadena. I adore browsing through little boutique shops for quirky finds and amusing trinkets. Think: darkly humored kitchen tools, antique storage boxes, anything-but-cookie-cutter clothing, saccharine-sweet bath products from Miso Pretty and Dirty Girl. BUT... as it turns out, Therapy is just not quite up to par, as set by my beloved LA finds. The prices at Therapy are a little higher than would be expected, but I can see why- rent on Burlingame Ave. must be vicious. read more

I love this store. I come here every time I shop on Burlingame Ave, and sometimes I go just for this store. It has the best cards! I went to Papyrus around the corner to check out their selection and if stores were people, it made Papyrus look like a square. Therapy also has gifts (frames, stationery, gag gifts) and a decent men's selection. I think it always has a sale rack of $9.99 or up -- most of the stuff is "or up", but you do find some cheap things. The price range is all over the place, from $10 to a couple hundred. I think the purses are most expensive, a lot are almost $300. They also have great jewelry. I got some really pretty turquoise hoop earrings for $12 last week. It's a hit or miss sort of place, but it's always fun to look around. I hate to admit it, but I think Therapy is kind of like a cuter, quainter boutique version of Urban Outfitters for people like me who like things at Urban, but feel like a part of them dies every time they step into the store. So if anything, here is your solution to a longer life. read more

Geez..........I pass by this store EVERYDAY for as long as I live in Burlingame, and yesterday I just found out about it was THE MOST IDEAL money burning spot for me. There are so many hidden gems in Burlingame downtown it is not even funny, I am a supporter of local business, I hated it when DIRTY LAUNDRY went out of business (bad bad bad mouth!! *knock the wood*), so i spent 130$ yesterday on my first visit, and on planning to spend more..in the future.....after the pay day...... The store carries more of the Urban street wear style brands like Obey, Paul Frank, Imaginary Foundation, Betseyville etc. both for men and women. I didn't know they closed at 7pm, I stepped inside around 10 to 7, didn't leave the place until 8pm, I felt so bad that the girl who works there had to wait for me, but she will forgive me because she will see me coming back often. read more

This place is fun(ky), hip, ultra modern home decoration plus retail therapy all in one!! This place is badass and you can get into some serious trouble here. From the cute little trinket decorations, to the fun books, magnets, sunglasses, to the boots and apparel..this place is heaven rolled into a little shop. The jewelry selection here is fabulous, the hat selection is vast and the clothing just plain gorgeous. I LOVE their shoe selection, though they can get a bit pricey!! I have yet to pop in to the SF store even though i live in the city, but i'm trying to stay away since i hear it's even bigger and the selection of fun stuff is even better. Ok so anyone who has been to a Therapy store knows how awesome the merchandise is. It's like crack for clothing! So this review is about amazing customer service. So I had been at the store in the Mission on Sunday and saw a dress I absolutely loved. But unfortunately they didn't have it in my size. A super friendly sales associate named Dom said he would call the other store for me to see if they had it in my size. (Sweet!) Turns out they did at the Burlingame store which was on my way home. Well I got wrapped up with dinner and wasn't able to make it that day and kinda spaced on it till wednesday. So then I finally called and a girl named Simone looked dilligently all over the store to help find the dress (I guess they usually only hold for 24 hours). She called me back later and was genuinely bummed to report they no longer had it. I told her no biggie since I had lagged on calling anyway. She said "i'm gonna still call around and try to find it for you" I was super amazed at how sweet and determined she was to help me. I work in customer service and totally notice when someone goes out of their way for me. On thursday night she calls me and says "yay I found your dress!" then she even texted me a pic on my cell to make sure it was the right one. I was again flabbergasted at how nice she was to do all of this for me. When I went to the store, ALL of the girls working that day were so sweet and helpful. Part of me wanted to just jump back behind the counter and kick it with them. It seems like all of their staff, at every store, is super happy to be there and really take pride in the clothes and other fun variety of things they sell. They are also very knowledgable about the designers and artistry that goes into the production of the goods. I will definitely be doing alot more of my shopping with them from now on! BRAVO THERAPY! This is my kind of Therapy! What a great, fun store right off the Avenue. I always assumed this place was just an apparel store; but after reading a few yelp reviews, I finally decided to peek in on my way home from Powell's Sweet Shop just down the street. What a treat for the unfocused shopper! Aside from apparel, shoes, bags, jewelry and accessories, they have all kinds of other fun... stuff. Some of the funniest and unique magnets, gadgets, greeting cards, postcards and gift items here - you know, the kind of place where you can spend 30-45 minutes going through every little thing within the first 10 feet of the store. The racks of apparel in the back of the store were organized by color - mostly muted earth tones - filled with unique styles and when I visited a few weeks ago, they had a great stock of reasonably priced and sale items. They also had some beautiful wall clocks displayed along the left side of the store (as you enter), with other household items such as flooring, picture frames, albums, place mats, etc. This is easily one of my new favorites, along with Anthropologie, in the downtown Burlingame area. read more

This place is fantastic and definitely provided a bit of a therapy break for me : ) I came here on a whim before heading into a work related assignment nearby, and really didn't anticipate on walking out with anything. It was a few little cute home decor items peaking through the window that initially drew me in. Little did I know upon entering, that they not only provide some cool little home accessories/ knick knacks, but they also provide a quite excellent selection of some stylish quality clothes. I was immediately impressed with the outstanding colors of the clothes provided; unique classic colors that are hard to come by. I was drawn to several different tops that called to me,but what specifically called my name, was a forest green, beautifully well made, short sleeve sweater top. Form fitting and just beautiful. I tried it on and it fit perfectly! Woo hoo! It was priced $52.00 and well worth it. The service I received from the girl working here this day was Phenomenal!
