    dream burger and steak fries!
    Jessica V.

I came here after hearing a lot of recommendations and I am so glad that I did. I got the Dream Burger, steak fries, coffee milk, vanilla coke, and soft serve and EVERYTHING was a 10/10. The burgers were so flavorful and the onion jam was actually insane!!! The vanilla coke was also so amazing; I believe they use vanilla bean for both the soft serve and vanilla coke which made the flavors so rich and delicious. The workers are also so kind and inviting which made the overall experience even better. I also loved the restaurants decor; it's super cozy and screams community honestly. My favorite part was that they had a board with meals that were prepaid for, so people who can't afford meals can come here and get one. This spot is seriously the epitome of community, and the fact that the food and drinks are DELICIOUS makes it even more great. I highly recommend (-:

Was in the Federal Hill area of Providence and went to There There for a burger. Arrived shortly after 11, was told they were serving breakfast but would be happy to start the burgers a little early. This place is awesome! Menu is small but the burgers are delicious. Added salt potatoes instead of fries and they were a new favorite. The whole meal was fantastic! I know your reading my review and saying to yourself a burger is a burger, how good can it be? If you don't go, you will never understand!! A few things- this is in a neighborhood. Parking is very tight. Grab whatever you can close by. Also not much seating, it is a small place. We arrived a little after 11 by 11:30 on a Saturday there was a line and seats were tough to find! Yes, there are challenges but don't miss this place!!

Love this place. So simple, so good. They only have 3 burgers on the menu (and maybe one chicken sandwich?), which is how you know it's a good classic neighborhood place. Each burger is slightly different but all pretty greasy. So if you're not into greasy burgers the this place is probably not for you. But they are smash burgers, so they're very easy to eat and despite the grease don't feel toooo heavy. The place is pretty small with only 3 indoor tables and a small countertop space, and they're usually pretty busy so sometimes it can be hard to get a seat. But usually while waiting for your burger a seat opens up

Enjoyed this popular burger joint of RI. The CNY Salty Potatoes are golden Yukon potatoes with chives and sour cream. They were great including the dream burger which I could've had two of. Looking forward to trying the TT Bird crispy chicken sandwich next time. The menu is very small and semi-pricey. The restaurant is small with outdoor seating. Liked the esthetic of the sticker table art and the decorative bathroom. The nearby ice cream shop is the perfect combo to this place, just to give you a heads up

While walking around Providence (around Fed Hill) looking for a place to eat (many spots were closed), we stumbled upon There There, which tucked away in a nondescript building, a few blocks away in West End. Inside, the place smells incredible, so we knew we came to the right place. This spot is simple and low-key, but they do one thing really well: smash burgers. Each smashburger comes with two thin patties, making it the perfect size and easy to eat without a mess. The patties are soo juicy and well-seasoned, and encased in soft, squishy buns. And when they say sesame bun, they really mean SESAME ALL OVER THE BUN. We decided to stick with smashburgers and ordered the Dream Burger and the Oklahoma Burger. They also serve fried chicken sandwich (TT Bird), vegetarian options (Kale Roll and Filet O' Chz), and a hot dog (Wurst Dawg). You can also opt for no bun for an extra charge (over lettuce, potatoes, or steak fries). Their secret menu is pretty small, mostly focused on specialty drinks, as there was only one special burger. We also got the Chili Burger (from their secret menu) and Steak Fries. Counter service was quick and friendly, but the place got packed quickly. There was a line out the door by the time we finished ordering. I loved my Dream Burger!! I really enjoyed the onion jam and the flavorful sauces and lots of shrettuce. Two patties definitely made a difference. Despite how thin and simple their burgers are, it still fills you up. The Oklahoma Burger was also a good choice. I think I would get this next time because it's a step up from the classic Smashburger with the sweet mustard and pickles combo. Compared to the smashburgers, which are mess-free and easy to hold in the hands, the Chili Burger is much messier. But tasty, nevertheless. As for sides, the steak fries are thick cut and well-prepared, though I wasn't in a fries mood that day. Seating is a bit tight, but there are plenty of options: communal high-top tables, booths, and even outdoor porch seating. They have water and bathrooms available, too.

Amazing smash burgers and their seasonal drink "Ginger LimeADE" is so good if you love a good ginger drink!!!

Fun spot, though tight seating if you can't get a booth. Porch seating with counters outside and a community table with hightops inside, in addition to the booths. Easy ordering over the counter. Friendly staff. Burgers: Very similar configuration in the two burgers, both with double patties, Martin's Big Marty sesame seed buns, plenty of pickles and lettuce, and some form of onions. Tried both. Similar in the burger results: very fresh bun, generally pleasing but with dominant sour/pickle flavor throughout, and the beef got lost among the bun, toppings and condiments. Even with two patties, you could barely notice they were there. Steak fries: Simple yet effective. Coffee Milk: Oddly iced, but very intense and enjoyable coffee flavor.

Rating: 4.3 I've came to this place few times but experience is always good. It's a local burger shop that offers mainly burgers and sides. It does require street parking and there are out door seating as well. Inside is pretty small but offers few seatings. You can order at the counter upfront and choose to eat there or take it to go. I've ordered few things from here before but I tried their new menus which were fillet o chez, salt potato sides, and the classic dream burger. Fillet o chez was interesting as it was basically a take on fillet o fish but with cheese instead. Fried cheese made it feel like more elevated grilled cheese. It was good but feels like would have tasted better with some sauce. Salt potato sides were ok. Buttery salty flavored boiled potatoes with some scallions. Sort of an elevated potato with butter. Dream burger was good as usual. Juicy burger with some onions jams and lettuce with cheese. I did notice after I ordered that there were specials but too late hope to try next time. Overall the place is pretty good and one of best burger place around RI area. It's also nice to see some changing menu here and there. I did like their hot dog so I was a bit sad that it was gone. Anyhow I would come back again if I crave burgers.

I rarely order burgers in restaurants because I am typically underwhelmed. I had the opposite experience at There There. I tried a burger special and was really impressed by how soft and squishy the bun was yet did a great job holding the burger together. The burger patties were juicy and all of the toppings were perfectly portioned and delicious. My burger game with jus for dipping on the side and it was so good it didn't even need it (but it was also really good with the jus). I also got the salt potatoes and they were tasty. The space is small and I could see seating being a challenge during busy times but overall it was a totally worth it and I would definitely recommend it.

We went to this place for lunch on a rainy Sunday. You could drive right past it because it's in the middle of the neighborhood, but it's such an adorable place on the outside and inside. We waited in line to order and we're one of the first people there. After we sat, it got packed with people sitting at all the tables and the bar. I couldn't decide between the dream burger and the kale roll so we split both. I love the burger, but that kale roll was one of the most phenomenal sandwiches I've ever had. The meat and the burgers was great, and the bun was just perfect. My other friend got the Oklahoma burger and said it was delicious. They have a beer, selection and wine, soda, and other local NA beverages. I'm so glad that we made it to this place as the service was great, the ambience was too, and the food was phenomenal.

My husband googled best burgers near me. I'm so glad we found There There. The people are friendly and helpful. It's a casual place with outdoor and indoor seating. We were lucky to find 2 seats at the counter with a view of the guys whipping up the food. We had the CNY Salt Potatoes, Pickle Plate, Dream Burger, and TT Bird fried chicken sandwich. Everything was delicious! I definitely recommend There There!!

Luckily, there was a perfect corner of the bar had just opened & we grabbed the seats. The atmosphere was convivial, upbeat & super comfortable, despite the crowd. Service was fabulously friendly & competent - the bartender handling the packed house with ease. We decided to go with an array of small plates to try as much as possible. The menu it designed perfectly for grazing & the prices are super reasonable! The selections are definitely on the comfort-food side with a strong southern hint. Ingredients are often locally sourced - something I greatly admire. We began with the a small plate of Pimento Cheese Toast. Just a few bites each but a nice start. Duck Drumettes. The horseradish-y white sauce was delectable! Even my non-duck loving partner was blown away. I was happy to hear that the salad was available in a half portion - enough for a light fresh break to our heavy selections. Next came a much heavier choice - the gravy fries with duck confit. We left off the cheese, but it wasn't missed at all. These were decadent, delicious & super filling! Next time we'd get a half portion - that would have been plenty! Our final dish was the Shrimp & Grits, but we'd already filled up on the other dishes & ended up asking for this to go. Even reheated, it was a perfectly delicious accompaniment to our brunch the next day! I'd be tempted to order this to-go again for just that purpose. While we didn't imbibe, the cocktail list looked wonderful & the bar was very well stocked. We did enjoy a nice selection from the interesting beer list. The sandwiches that we saw come out looked delicious & huge! We'd love to try them as well. We will be back - this is certainly a new favorite for us!

Service was friendly & helpful, and the menu offers many delicious sounding options. Food is fast casual style (order at the counter, get a card - here all were west side street signs, not the usual numbered placards, food will be delivered to your table. I had the avocado shakshuka, my husband had the lox omelet (see the photo). Despite the large menu of fancy coffee options, we each had a basic iced. It was served in a glass, which was a nice touch. Self serve milk was at a station in the dining room area. Coffee was good, cold but I would have traded some coffee for a bit more ice to stay that way as I drank it slowly. Both of us were surprised when our meals were delivered: the plates were beaut! In particular his omelet was absolutely gorgeous! Now for the flavors: the omelet had a generous helping of perfect cooked eggs (not sitting in a pile of grease, as restaurant omelets frequently are). It was so fluffy that we both thought "that's way more than the advertised 3 eggs," and the lox was thickly layered whole slices nestled inside the fold. Most places chop the lox like vegetables, add it to the eggs, & make it like a veggie omelet - meh. This iteration was perfect; the lox tasted like smoked salty fish, losing none of that flavor to the omelet itself. The potatoes? Fabulous! Great spice mix, cooked until they were crispy. That was a tasty bit of marble rye toast too. My shakshuka was very good, but a bit less successful. The elements were all excellent; the avocado was actually guacamole since it was mashed & there were tomatoes and spices in the dish. The combination worked, except for the bread element. The dish as presented was really more of an avocado toast with shakshuka on top. It might have been more successful to add the avocado/guacamole as a unique base on the plate, with the tomato sauce and eggs on top with toast on the side (as is the way shakshuka is traditionally served) because halfway through the bread got really soggy & less appetizing. Still, the first few bites, while everything was still warm? So good!

I've eaten my way through quite a few things here over the years, and while there are plenty of good choices, I keep coming back to the Smokey and the Bandit smash burger. At this point, I probably know what I'm ordering before I even sit down. There's just something about that combination that keeps winning. The food here is consistently good. Everything I've had has been fresh, hot, and full of flavor, and the kitchen seems to have that part figured out without making a big production of it. The menu has enough variety that you can come in with different appetites and still find something you want, but it doesn't feel like one of those places with a menu the size of a small novel where you need twenty minutes just to decide what you're looking at. The beer selection is another reason I enjoy Chomp. There's enough variety to make choosing a beer part of the experience rather than simply grabbing whatever happens to be on tap. Prices are also pretty reasonable for the quality and portion sizes, which is increasingly something I notice because restaurant prices have a funny way of creeping upward when you're not paying attention. The location is another part of the appeal. Chomp sits in a great little part of Providence where you can easily make an evening out of being in the neighborhood. There are plenty of other restaurants, shops, and places to wander around nearby, so it doesn't feel like you're making a special trip just to eat and then immediately getting back in the car. Tonight, though, I have to give a special shout-out to Bella, who was our server. She was outstanding. Friendly, personable, attentive without hovering, and genuinely helpful. She suggested adding bacon to my Smokey and the Bandit, which I probably wouldn't have thought to do on my own. I'm very glad she mentioned it because it was an excellent call. Sometimes the best recommendations are the simple ones, and she nailed it. One piece of advice if you're planning on coming here: make a reservation if you can. Chomp can fill up quickly, and given how good the food is, that really shouldn't come as much of a surprise. It's the kind of restaurant where people come back because they already know they're going to have a good meal, and I'm certainly part of that group. Five stars from me. Great food, good beer, reasonable prices, a fantastic Providence location, and genuinely good service. I've tried enough of the menu over the years to know that Chomp has plenty of options, but apparently I'm still incapable of walking through the door without ordering that Smokey and the Bandit. Add Bella's bacon recommendation to the list of reasons I'm going to keep coming back.

The brussel sprouts I ordered also lacked flavor and seasoning aside from the char, and his Cajun fries were so salty they were nearly inedible. After driving from Massachusetts to Rhode Island as a special Mother's Day treat, it ended up being a very disappointing experience, especially given the overwhelmingly positive reviews. First off it's a super cozy spot, perfectly lit with a high end tavern type feel. Service is always prompt and friendly. Ask anyone working and they're happy to help you out. Getting into the city can be a pain sometimes but it's so worth it coming here. They buy their products from local sources and they're a local business. I love to support it and can't wait to eat here again. For me to take the time to write this is saying a lot but the guys and girls who make this place run, really deserve the recognition. I hope you try them out.

Not overly sweet. A little heavier. Then we got the chicken with biscuit. The chicken was corn meal fried and a little dry. The biscuit wasn't flaky but was grilled. The potatoes and eggs were decent. We also got the brioche French toast and that was pretty ok. Nothing overly special but I like that it's farm to table style. Also we got to sit outside and that was nice. Over all 3 stars.

Every detail feels intentional and creatively combined -- from the beautiful art screens on the windows to the barstools made with skateboard backs. Favorites are the vegan bahn mi (with fried tofu and cashew pate, crunchy picked vegetables) the cardamom pancakes and the cheddar biscuits. Biscuits are huge and buttery with a moist interior and a crunchy outside. The pancakes are the biggest pancakes I've ever seen! They were bigger than our heads. We got three to share for the table but honestly one would have been enough. Cocktails are strong and the bloody mary was perfectly spicy. Service can be a little slow at times but was friendly and helpful. The music can also get loud and voices echo when it's busy. So don't bring your noise sensitive friends. Make sure you have a reservation as it can get crowded!
