So my physical hard drive failed with 512Gb of stuff not backed up because I let it slip. I have many places I could go, some right across the street but I go to WrightPC because I've gone to them for about 8 years. I looked up online to see if they could do data recovery and read some of the other reviews. Some people didn't seem to like them so I thought, "get over yourselves, The WrightPC does the right thing and they get it done." They couldn't recover from the Hard Drive because it was a serious failure, but they put in a solid state drive and revved up my machine. Now my old hard-drive is mounted on a wooden base I made labeled: "Tomb of Dreams." Five-hundred and twelve gigabytes is a lot to lose. Maybe I'll try a GoFundMe someday. Afterward, the WrightPC sent me a card; I thought, "thank you" card? It was a card reminding me to write a review and it had a crisp $20 bill inside. I thought, "how thoughtful." I took my granddaughters to the candy store and when I went to use the $20 bill, the store manager looked at it kind of funny and said I had a counterfeit bill! The police came and my granddaughters cried and I thought I was a goner until one police officer noticed that the $20 bill had the words "copy money" on it. Whew, I was so glad to avoid the slammer but I used my debit card and the granddaughters were happy. A Treasury agent did visit me at home but on an unrelated manner. read more

This is going to be a long review. Let me start out by pointing out that there are 41 1 star ratings for this company and 5 good reviews. Two people that I personally met have filed complaints with the BBB. The owner goes through and hides his mistakes. Story: I used to work at the Staples down the street at Chandler Blvd and Alma School (I was moved there to team up with another of the district's best techs). During my time there, I dealt with a few head shaking experiences involving computers with "The Wright PC" stickers on them. These involve an extensive collection of massive overcharges and inadequate knowledge of TWPC employees. Two experiences stand out among the rest. The first of these was a woman (whom I came to trust, and came to the conclusion that she clearly had a genius level IQ as well as did her children) who claimed that she had taken her desktop to them to have some work done (idk, software or something) and it had come back infected with viruses. I did an intake, and it did, so we had to charge her for a virus removal ($149.99). When she brought it to them, it was a fresh install of Windows 7, so they clearly had sketchy motives and did SOMETHING to it. The second person brought in a "brand new" business class laptop that he had bought the day before from TWPC. I looked at it and then looked at him with a concerned look on my face; it was clearly not new. I later looked up the model and verified that it had not been manufactured by Dell for over 2 and 1/2 YEARS! He had paid $650 for a $350 laptop because TWPC had exploited his ignorance. IN ADDITION to that, he also had several hundred infections on this "brand new" hard drive and thus forked out another $150 to us to fix it. Final cost of going to The Wright PC: $450. I urged him to never return to that place before he left. Take my advise as a genius tech, pay the little extra up front to a trusted retail store. "mom and pop" computer shops are not to be trusted. In 2015 I brought a computer in for a HD replacement that had an authorized copy of Office 2007 on it. They replaced the HD and upgraded my copy of MS Office to 2010 but they did not give me an activation code. 2.5 years later I get a pop up that says my Office 2010 is not activated. The store says it's a virus and directs me to sites that try to hack the activation key. I called Microsoft, paid the fee, and they remote'd into my computer to verify that the ONLY issue with it was that it needed an activation key. I reported the store to Microsoft as possibly selling unlicensed versions of MS products. I don't know if it will do any good but I for one m never going back. On the plus side MS gave me an authorized version of office 2013 for $50 and now all is well. read more

He recommended some parts to upgrade with me being a gamer but made me go home and check his work first to make sure he fixed my issue from first bringing my computer in to get fixed. I brought my nearly new PC to them and got the unfortunate news that it would be double its worth to repair. The instead sold me a superior used one for a great price. It wound up having an issue immediately upon me turning it on, but they quickly swapped hard drives the next morning and gave me a different one. This place is just a NO! Turn around, go back, don't stop. I work with EMR systems. I know computers but I'm busy working 2 jobs and taking care of a kid. All I needed was help with my battery port. This place is a joke. I got lied to, the $50 coupon on Yelp is bogus (I got maybe $30 off). It was one story after another, plus they never call, I had to call them every time. They said it would be ready in 3-4 days, which turned into 2 weeks. I call on day 4 and they said they had to order a part but it would be there Friday. Hey how about calling me to see if I even can wait that long and wanted you to order that part, hmmmmm? I call on Monday, "no we had to order your part and it just came in so it will be ready tues". What happened to Friday? I call Wed and it's now suddenly the mother board?!? Then he has the nerve to give me the option of buying a refurbished laptop! I'm like NO, I paid A LOT for mine, so I'd like it fixed. "Oh yeah I can see that". Finally I go down there Saturday just asking for it back, repaired or not. "Your laptop isn't put together and I'm the only one here". You are the only one ever here. Well instead of saving me money this place has cost me money and I want my laptop back! Miraculously I get a call Monday that it's all fixed. That they got my part in and it's working. Isn't that odd, guess it wasn't the mother board after all. Funny how they just got my part in too. This place is just fishy, I don't trust them and will never recommend them ever. Which is sad because in the medical EMR world we could use a place that could help us out in a jiffy. read more

Bought a laptop for my daughter here. The hard drive failed but luckily I had the warranty. I took it back for them to install the new hard drive, but found out later that they didn't activate Windows. I called them and they said I'd have to bring it in or ship it (now living in California) because there is nothing they can do over the phone. All I needed was the product key. Luckily, I started taking the laptop apart and found the key sticker in the battery compartment. The activation is something that the tech should have done, or at least tell me to look for the sticker in other places. Seems like a way to get extra business from someone who doesn't deal with computers much. I wouldn't recommend this place. By the way, there are 3 positive reviews. 41 negative reviews that fall under "not recommended" so they don't show up initially and don't affect the rating. I visited here about 3 years ago. They have a fantastic selection of parts, but their service kind of left a bad taste in my mouth. I went looking for a very specific part after being referred by a nearby shop with fantastic service that didn't have what I need. This shop also didn't have the cable, but when I offered to show them the issue they quickly said, "As soon as we touch your computer it's a $49 service fee. We're not like other shops you may be familiar with". All I was trying to do was plug in the bad cable to show them my issue. The other shop spent 30 minutes working with me troubleshooting with various parts and didn't charge me a dime. Sure, they lost some time with me, but when it comes time to refer friends and family to a shop, which one do you think I'll refer them to? I realize that this industry has service fees, but seems like they could have not been so hard-nosed about it. I repair computers myself and would love to have a local shop to buy parts from, but I'd have a hard time going back unless I really couldn't find a part anywhere else. read more

Took laptop into have hinge fixed. Young kid at counter said it could be done for $100 flat fee in 2 days. I asked about malware charge on invoice he said it was included in the fee and madde it seem like I had no choice in the service. I did not need any software help with the laptop, my Mom has a Master's degree computer programming. After 3 days it still was not fixed they said they couldn't get parts and I asked about a refund since it wasn't done. I took my PC their to be built, it costs 100 dollars which included a short warranty. I was a little taken back from the price, but it was my first time building a PC and did not want it to get ruined by my hands. I actually already had most of it built but some things were VERY tricky for me so I had it taken in, I had already spent 700 dollars on the parts and Windows 7 so i said screw it, another 100 wont hurt. After about 3 day-I thought it should have been faster-it was complete. It was fine at first, but very quickly I was getting all kinds of BSODs (blue screens of death). Anyone who owns a PC knows that this is bad, really bad. and it started happening after my warranty expired. So rather than take it back, I tried fixing it myself. BSOD are not something that is easy to diagnose right away, even with help from the internet. And I would get atleast 2-5 BSOD a day! But after persevering I figured out the problem. I went into my BIOS and increased the voltage to my motherboard and RAM just slightly, like a few tenths of a degree. And I have not had any BSOD since. My problem comes in the fact that THEY (the wright pc) are the experts, they should have known that not having the proper voltage would cause problems for me. I believe they didnt tweak it on purpose, so I would have to come back in and charge me another 50-100 dollars. I even could tell they thought I was a total newbie to computers right when I was explaining to them if they could build my computer, so they thought I would be dumb enough to bring it back in! HA! So technically its not what they DID to my PC that caused problems, its what they DIDNT do, and that is why they recieve one star from me. read more

I drove all the way from Gold Canyon to their Chandler store where I was told they indeed did not have it, but could order it for nearly twice the price of what it is online. NO STARS!!! This is a horrible company. They do not service their new sales all. They outright insulted me, lied, deceived and were very argumentative. They sold me a new computer, when all I truly needed was a new fan. Then refused in a timely fashion to service ( transfer) documents to the new computer. I made numerous calls to store , only to be stonewalled. This was a horrific experience and I would not do business there again. I agree with Drew, their service sucks and they have a bad attitude - it's all about greed to sell you a refurbished PC with problems, then try to extrapolate a $99 service charge every time you bring it back for the same problem. Within 6 months, I've spend $400 trying to find out why my PC keeps shutting down and corrupting my files. At this poiint, I could have purchased a new PC with a decent warranty. I've been going here for 3 years and everytime I went there they treated me like a new customer. The first time I brang my wifes $500 HP Laptop it had crash and needed a new keypad, so the work was done no problems 2 weeks later the laptop crashes again,take it in a 2nd time they call me and left me message that the hard drive failed, so I OK a new Hard Drive. Financialy I wasnt ready to make another $160 dollars so I let them know this, and they agreed on me making payments.I made a payment of $20 on May 17, I stopped by June 13 to let them know I still was going to continue making payments sometime in August or September. When I go on September 1st they told me my $500 laptop became the stores property In August. My question is this Why Did The Company Call Me When My Computer needed a Hard Drive, But No Call About My $500 Laptopgoing to become there property. Rude, rude, rude! I've never felt so disrespected in any business. Firstly, upon pick-up of my computer, I noticed they lost my Microsoft Office and Microsoft Works... gone forever. When I asked about both, the rudeness was obvious. I was basically told I stole my Office and Works because I did not have the disks to replace them. Then after using computer for a few days, I notice my Windows 7 had a expiration date. My computer cost $800 and came with Works, Office, Windows 7 and more pre-installed. Unable to read my product key on the bottom of my computer and after calling Microsoft tech support, I was told that my new Windows 7 was a trial and would expire and I needed to buy a new operating system. I take my computer back and rude guy is there again (who I believe is Kirk). I explain that my Windows 7 will expire soon. His reply was to tell another coworker, "he claims his Windows 7 will expire and to 'try not to laugh too hard." Of course, no one is laughing. After more smart-ass remarks, I ask to work with another worker and he walks away. I also had to ask for another worker on pick-up. He apologized for being an ass on pick-up, only for the first thing out his mouth to be, 'don't laugh too hard.' I accepted his apology then, but he clearly didn't mean it. They do restore my Windows 7... not using my ineligible product key, but going to the Acer website. As I leave, he now has a customer with him, he taps her and says, 'watch this' and tells me to 'have a good day.' I reply, 'I'll try,' but the customer has a laughing fit on the spot. He clearly was trying to get at my goat. I will never use The Wright PC again and deeply regret giving them one dime. read more

DO NOT take your computer to these people!! They will rip you OFF. The service is terrible. I took my computer in for repair, brought it home and unfortunately didn't plug it in for a month because I was swamped. I paid $100 to have it fixed and when I did get it up and running it was NOT fixed and had the exact same problem. I then took it back and they told me that I had to repay to have it fixed because it had been 30 days. So I repaid the money to have it fixed again.....left it there more than 45 days because I was working late and they were always closed and I was out of the country. I called to see if I could pick it up and they stated "it was now their property." Apparently in the very fine print it states that after 45 days it is there property.......WHAT?? That to me is stealing someones property. I got the FBI MoneyPak virus today while on MSN of all websites and used another computer to look up what to do to correct it. Since I could not do what the various remedies available were, it appeared my infection was worse than normal. I took it to The Wright PC in Chandler who two months earlier had worked on that computer and said Microsoft Security Essentials should keep me clean. The guy (unnamed here) immediately knew what was wrong before I told him. He said it would be $150 to get it off of there. $150?? Are you kidding?! I asked if I was supposed to pay $150 everytime something got by the software they recommended I use to stay safe. He said yes. He said it would be $300 anywhere else. I told him I knew I could get it fixed cheaper. He became very flippant in his comments back to me and got kind of cocky in saying there are no solutions to the problem on the internet. None of those work he said. I called my brother who is a programmer and has some knowledge of the technical side of computers. Within a few hours on the phone he had it back up and running. Cost. $0. I have no problem paying for service, but $150 for something I was able to accomplish for nothing other than my brothers time and mine. The charge should fit the degree of difficulty in repairing it I say. We actually found a way to fix it not even found on the internet. So now there are several ways to do it. read more
