    Cupcakes!!
    Shaquilera A.

I stumbled upon this place as I was walking after lunch and had to stop by! The girl at the front was very sweet and totally convinced me to go for a box of 6, as you save the taxes (about 5$). I just had the salted caramel cupcake, and OMG. The cake is soft, the icing is very light and airy but flavourful, the salted caramel on point. I bought this box to share but not sure it will make it there, definitely recommend!!!

Delicious cupcakes, including Cookie Dough and Carrot Cake flavours!

This cute bakery has a mix of all the goodies and it's a family go-to for us because my brother has a peanut allergy, leaving him usually unable to enjoy baked goods unless they're homemade. ThimbleCakes is completely safe for my brother to eat though, which makes picking up a box of cupcakes an easy surprise to bring back home to him. They have so many different flavours to pick from, too! The cookie dough cupcake is a favourite. Other than cupcakes, the brownie is a chocolatey delight and their pumpkin scones are always a hit. ThimbleCakes boxes your goodies up nicely for you and will even add curled ribbon if you ask. I highly recommend checking them out, especially if you or one of your loved ones has food sensitivities or allergies. My brother jokingly says they are never allowed to close because they're so good!

We called to see if they were open and the lady said they were, however, mini cupcakes are to be ordered two days in advance. So just a heads up! We arrived and ordered the carrot and banana gluten free cupcakes. Wow! Moist and absolutely heavenly! The only reason we deducted a star is for the lady's disposition in the store. Could work on being more friendly, especially when customers are coming out to support local businesses during Covid-19.

I purchased cupcakes twice from the website. They were AMAZING! I would highly recommend :)

We ordered our wedding cake from here. The process was kind of all over the place. I think the girl who was helping us, usually doesn't do wedding cake orders and was filling in. Never offered to try any flavours, so we had to guess at what it was going to be like with her description she gave us of some flavours. (We never ordered anything from here before, so not sure how things tasted.) We ordered one 2 tiered cake and one large slab cake. After we made our deposit, she offered 2 free cupcakes, which was surprising, because nothing was mentioned at the begining. Wish we would of tried something before placing our order. The day of the wedding, my husband and I were cutting the cake and serving the guests as they formed a line. We noticed some guests were coming up for seconds and some even coming for thirds. It was sooo good and moist. Probably can say it was the best cake I've ever tasted. I was nervous at first because we weren't too happy over the one really dry cupcake we tried the day we placed our order. The girl that was helping us out for the order, was really good at judging the amount of cake we needed based on guest size. It was just the right amount. Will order from here again.

The place is really nice. They had lot of options for cupcakes. I went on a hot sunny day so had an ice cream at this place. Ice cream was good but the cone was little hard.

So I scored big points treating my wife to a cupcake as a starter for a night on the town. A little lady like my daughter, who has been known to wear boas, tutus and fairy wings would absolutely love the girly dainty vintage presentation here. My wife's only complaint was that it was hard to find - as in she didn't see it when we drove by. The easiest way to find it is to look for the huge green Herb & Spice sign. Thimble cakes is right next door. Finding parking can be an issue. Thimble Cakes scored points with the little details at this little shop: - elegant seating - chandeliers - teacups - plated cupcakes with dessert forks We appreciate the little indie shops with gluten free offerings as a staple. My better half wife was impressed with the quality. She was very happy that the GF cupcake wasn't dense. While it wasn't necessarily light, she found it to be moist and beautifully presented. I'm surprised that there are so few reviews. We came away thinking Thimble Cakes looks very well put together, and very appealing. Presentation matters, as do the little things.

I just moved into the village and have already been here twice! The cupcakes are definitely to my taste - the cake is moist but not oily, while the icing is light and fluffy. There's a Bridgehead just across the street but I like picking up a tea to go along with my cupcake. The customer service can improve a bit. The employees take your order with less enthusiasm than a fast food employee and don't seem to be very open to questions or discussion about cupcakes! It's a cupcake shop - I know if I was surrounded by cupcakes all day I'd be pretty happy or at least on a constant sugar high. Also, they should totally let you sample the candy. All that being said, I'm assuming that the owner of the shop is not a total witch and I love the cupcakes enough to overlook all that and visit 1-2 weeks. And so should you!

Not only does it look nice but also the cupcakes I purchased tasted amazing. Very helpful staff. Keep it up

Left to right - Gluten free pumpkin scone, chocolate love cupcake, lemon tart, and chocolate mint cupcake (not gluten free).

Helpful and knowledgable staff goes a long way! Having a gluten intolerance, I always have to ask about the ingredients... the woman I spoke with was able to answer all of my questions, which shows she knows the products - a win in my books! I tried the gluten free pumpkin scone and it was delicious! Moist and chewy and filled with pumpkin spice flavour. Also tried the gluten free chocolate chip cookie. It reminded me of a sugar cookie with chocolate chips - not my favourite, however, it was soft and chewy. Others I was with tried the gluten free lemon tart and thought the lemon custard was spot on. However, found the crust to be a little dry. It also didn't travel well... the custard slide out of the tart by the time it got home even though it had been boxed (the photo will show evidence of this) As for what they are known for cakes... I tried the gluten free chocolate lovers cupcake and it was sooo good! Filled with chocolate ganache and melt in your mouth moist - highly recommend, whether it's gluten free or not. Great little bake shop that has a lot to offer. Worth stopping by!

What a treat! I can't eat dairy anymore and my Husband surprised me with vegan cupcakes! I've had good and bad ones in the past but these took the cake! I never like chocolate and the chocolate one was amazing omg. The lavender one was refreshing. The strawberry tasted so real. Every one was delicious. Best of all, you couldn't taste they were vegan. I will definitely be back for cupcakes again. Maybe for my birthday!

This place is adorable, popular, and has great service. I just wasn't wowed by the quality of the cupcakes, unfortunately. They're quite crumbly. I ordered a cookie dough cupcake (last one of the day, because it's a big seller) and I don't think it tasted like cookie dough at all. Cinnamon cookies, maybe. Generous with the chocolate chunks, though. What I do like is that they reduce waste. They sell cupcakes that are a little messy at a discount and call them "Ugly Ducklings." You can also buy discounted day old cupcakes as well. I will consider going back to try another flavour, and/or to check out the (expensive!) ice cream.

The cakes and muffins are moist and tasty, but on the oily/greasy side and very sweet. The cookies are also tasty, but very rich and full of butter, and also very sweet. I know that "real baking" is full of sugar and fat, and this is how most people like it, but I personally prefer reduced-fat and reduced-sugar baking, lol. That being said, I can still appreciate full-fat and full-sugar baked goods, haha. They are a nut-free bakery, so if you are allergic to nuts, you need not worry about eating items here. I was in the mood for a Sfogliatella (lobster tail pastry), so my husband and I went to Little Italy to get one. Pasticceria Gelateria Italiana has been around since 1979, but I had never been there before. They had a large selection of desserts and gelato. We took our pastry to-go, but they have some seating both indoors and on their raised front patio and street-level side patio. The Sfogliatella was $7.49 which is the most I've ever paid for this pastry. Fortunately, it was delicious. Very crispy and flakey on the outside and softer on the inside with a generous amount of cream. I prefer the ricotta cheese filling slightly more, but I like the cream filling too. It was light and airy and not too sweet. Service was efficient and pleasant. The shop has a one way flow, you enter one door and you follow the arrows and exit a different door. The area to wait for service is narrow, so this process prevents congestion and crowding. I like it. Great for the occasional treat, but a bit too spendy for me. (77)

I got 2 Portuguese egg tarts (Pasteis de Nata) $2.50 each, 2 cannoli $3.50 each and a cream filled horn pastry $3.50. I didn't like that none of the items had prices listed anywhere, so I had to ask how much everything was. The egg tarts were not fresh, as the pastry was all soft and chewy. The filling was sweet, rich and smooth though. I love Portuguese egg tarts for their flakey pastry with that crispiness to them when they are fresh, and I did not get that here. The cannoli fortunately were not soft nor soggy, but rather crunchy, despite being prefilled. The shell was a bit too dense and oily tasting for liking though. However, the filling was tasty. The cream horn was filled with a smooth custard, which I enjoyed, but I didn't really like the dry crumbly pastry. Overall, I enjoyed the fillings of the items I bought, but not the pastry. Service was neutral. I don't think they take credit cards because when I went to pay by credit, the man asked me if I had debit instead. The bakery is co-located with Syrian Kitchen. Now also known as SYRIAN KITCHEN (says on their new business cards)…read more Based on what I have overheard and read, this place is now owned and operated by Syrian families, employing some recent refugees. They have retained the Portuguese name and products from working with the previous co-owner. This is currently the only place you can get Syrian falafel in town. They gave me and my partner each a sample falafel to try - the falafels were flavourful, crispy on the outside and moist inside. I liked it much better than a lot of other falafels in town!!! $0.65 each if you were to buy. Looks like they are made to order, or the pre-made ones are within the hour and fresh. We tried the Syrian falafel wrap ($6) and Beef steak sandwich ($7) and both were delicious. Don't expect the food to come super fast like other shawarma-type places because they don't have an assembly line. For the beef steak sandwich, they sauteed mushrooms and onions along with the beef on their grill until caramelized, which took a while, but it tasted so homey and fresh. Beef was a little tough but the flavour was good. We got a bunch of natas (Portuguese egg tarts) and they were really good. $1.75 each. We also got a bunch of kibbehs (beef croquettes) - which I have just reheated and am eating right now on Day #2 - and they are flavourful and still juicy inside even after reheating. 5/5 would buy again. And of course we got extra Syrian falafels to go....because they're so good and we eat them like cookies (except healthier...I think). Lovely people, homey food at very reasonable prices. Cannot wait to come back again.
