I got the pad kee mao as per usual. Definitely don't get the medium! That's a mistake I always seem to make with Thai food. I could only eat one or two bites at a time haha. We also shared a pad thai. It was good, but tasted a bit overly sweet compared to other places. It was still good though and a great respite from the medium spice. This is one of my favorite Thai restaurants in Rancho Cucamonga, that I've recently put my family on, they love it here. Service is great, it's clean and cozy inside. My favorite dish here would definitely be the SHRIMP FRIED RICE. I would've given this place 5 stars if it weren't for their PAD SEE EW. I order this dish at any Thai place I eat at, but for some reason, at Thippawan it's mediocre. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy most of the food, but I skip ordering pad see ew from here because it's not that flavorful. Mild Spice Tom Kha: first of all the price is really high for Tom Kha (even the non seafood one), they used portobello mushrooms instead of enoki mushrooms which was the first sign that this wasn't going to be anything special. The broth was too sour, likely because of too much lemongrass, and it wasn't creamy and lacked a hint of pine sugar like some of the best Tom Kha's I've had. I would not purchase this again. Medium Spice Red Curry: My initial taste of the curry was good. It was creamy, spicy, and had a good thickness. The critique is I wish it had more meat and I wish there was more broth. It was a pretty small portion size given the price. It's definitely the go to dish over the Tom Kha. Service was quick and everyone was very nice. The place is clean. Overall I would not come back just because I was not blown away by the Tom Kha which is such a staple Thai dish. I want to give this place five stars, but I haven't tried enough items yet. However, I will be back to try other things and can update my rating then. Moving along, I usually write long reviews, but I'll be brief this time. I came on a Friday evening and it wasn't packed at all. I got seated quickly, and the host put me in a booth and wiped down my table before sitting. I liked that. Then my server came and took my drink order, and before I forget, this girl was awesome! A short cutie wearing glasses by the name of Marissa, we went over food options, and I liked her suggestions and honesty; she was attentive, helpful, and personal. I wasn't too hungry, so I got the wontons that Marissa said wouldn't be very filling and would be like eating chips. She was right. She steered me to a Stir-Fry entree with ground pork, and it was delicious. So I'll be back to try other things that are hopefully as good. I was truly impressed by how immaculate the bathrooms were, which really should be a standard at all restaurants. Marissa told me they put a lot of effort into keeping the restrooms clean as it reflects how you may think of the kitchen, and if the bathroom is dirty, you'll be thinking the same thing about the kitchen. All in all, this is a cool joint in the cut to find a new favorite dish. This is The Best Thai restaurant in the Fontana-Rialto-Ontario-Rancho area!! It's in an unassuming strip mall. It's a sit down joint. Although a lot of people order for pick up. It's spacious and nothing fancy or hipsterish. The menu has a lot of the usual Thai entrees. Some of my favorites are the pad kee mow (drunken noodles). The chow mein is SUPER good! The beef noodle soup (Thai boat) is amazing! Most people aren't even aware of this yumminess! When the server ask how spicy, I usually say medium. But is your butthole bushes easily, go with mild. Upon entering, we were warmly greeted and told we could sit anywhere, so we chose an empty booth. Our sever came over right away to bring us water and menus. After browsing for a bit, we ordered veggie spring rolls, pork fried rice, pad thai, orange chicken, and thai bbq ribs. Everything was THAT GOOD, served hot and freshly made, and in huge portions. We have enough left overs for dinner tomorrow too! To be honest, I kinda feel bad for our usual Thai spot, cuz we won't be back. We have dined at this restaurant for years, including picking to go during the pandemic but our experience tonight was extremely disappointing. The restaurant was not any busier than other night but the service was terrible. It took 15 minutes for the waiter to bring us the menu and then another 10 minutes before they attempted to take our order. Meanwhile the other waitress was catering to another table that took at least 10 minutes to order while we waited without any menus. She repeatedly went back to that table like they were special and totally ignore us. Treatment like that is how you lose long time customers. We could not wait any longer and walked up and left.
