The only thing I think would complete the experience is if they had silverware and reusable dishes. Tried this place for the first time today. I got the grilled turkey and swiss. I forgot to take a pic, but there's a pic of it on another review. I just don't think the value was worth it at all. For $10 you get meat, cheese, and bread with no sides or drink. The sandwich was nothing special. The turkey was clearly just deli meat. It wasn't grilled in any way. It seems like it's the cheapest deli meat they could find also. The turkey had that sheen on it like a lot of water had been added. The sandwich is more like a large snack than a meal. I think it would be good as a kids menu item. The Dijon was the strongest mustard I have ever tasted. Maybe I just haven't eaten enough variety of mustard in my lifetime, but it tasted more like horseradish than mustard and was burning my nostrils the entire time I was eating. I think there's a lot of other little things they can improve on like; putting napkins in the bag with a person's order, and having toasted bread as an option when ordering instead of needing to type it in the comment section. I personally won't be visiting this establishment again. You could easily find the same level of quality on a sandwich from a gas station. And I'm sure it would be less than $10. read more

Sought this place out on a trip to Stevens City from Fredericksburg. The staff were so sweet and the vibe welcoming. The place was tiny - only about 6 seats inside, but it does say it's gourmet to-go. They had lots of drinks in the cooler, tasty looking deserts, and lots of deli options. I got an egg salad sandwich, but was disappointed to find it had celery in it. I picked out all the bits and ate it anyway. He got a Reuben and his brother got a ham & swiss. Finally got a chance to stop in while they were open. Cute little building just off Main Street. There are a few seats inside and several tables outside. They have a pretty decent sandwich menu to choose from with some of the sandwiches already made for grab and go. I went with the grilled cubano and my wife chose the grilled mango. We both chose sourdough for the bread. They have several drink options to include fresh lemonade and canned beer. We decided to sit outside and enjoy the weather. Our sandwiches came out fairly quick and we were pleasantly surprised with them. The flavors for both were very delicious. I highly recommend giving this place a try. read more

Friday is She Crab Soup day...count me in ! You have the choice of small, large and jumbo. The jumbo is $15 bucks. The large is $5 and quite adequate for a meal w/ a sandwich. I had the turkey with swiss on whole wheat; a winning combo. Best for takeout, parking can be a challenge. Renee is a pleasent lady and she is quite proud of the soup variety she prepares. Tried Third and Main Gourmet to Go today for lunch. We ordered the 'Shrimp & Corn Chowder', 'Classic Chicken Caesar Salad' and a 'Cubano' sandwich. The Shrimp & Corn Chowder (Large $7.95) was disappointing. It was rich with good flavor and very black pepper which I loved! But 'chowder' to me is a very rustic and hearty stew, which this chowder was not. Very small diced potatoes, vegetables and corn but one key ingredient was missing......whole SHRIMP......There were ZERO, NADDA, NONE in the entire bowl. (did I get the bottom of the picked through pot?) It did have shrimp flavor and a miniscule amount of finely diced shrimp. Their Shrimp and Corn Chowder was more of a chunky bisque than it was a chowder. Good flavor with chowder ingredients, just not prepared like a chowder. Classic Chicken Caesar Salad ($8.95) was what you expect in a good Classic Chicken Caesar Salad, 'Simplicity'! The chicken was fresh, moist and very flavorful...the menu said it was grilled but it did not taste grilled. Regardless, the chicken was GOOD! The croutons were fresh, crunchy and garlilcky! All placed on top of a nice fresh and crispy, very light handed bed of Romaine and drizzled with a delicious Caesar dressing. The nice twist was the grated Asiago instead of the traditional Parmesan, I liked it! Cubano Sanwich on Sourdough ($6.95) was good although not a traditional 'Cuban Sandwich'. The 'Cubano' consisted of ham, turkey, Swiss and mustard on Rye, Sourdough or Whole Wheat. I opted for the Sourdough which of the three breads offered was the closest to the traditional Cuban bread used. Before I go further, let me say the sandwich was good and I would order it again! But I would simple ask for a ham and turkey with Swiss because that's what it was, not a Cuban sandwich! I know, I'm being finicky! But I don't want people to believe this is a real Cuban sandwich if they have never had one. A Cuban sandwich is Pork on Pork, not Pork on Turkey although still tasty. If they would ditch the turkey and replace it with roast pork (traditional), pulled pork or Salami then it would be worthy of calling it a quasi Cuban sandwich! The sandwich needed some fat versus lean turkey, fat equals FLAVOR! The bread was toasted very nicely, I just wanted more butter on the bread! The bread and butter pickles were very good and I would guess homemade! If not tell me the brand, I want some! The iced teeeeeeaa..... NOT GOOD! To be fair, the vessel holding the unsweetened tea was almost empty. It was cloudy, well let's be honest it was muddy bitter iced tea. Like I said it was at the bottom and almost empty, so maybe I got the short end of the iced tea and the shrimp and corn chowder.....but it was only 12:15 on a Tuesday. Overall our lunch was good and reasonably priced. I WILL certainly have lunch here again! read more

The Roasted red pepper soup is absolutely delicious! Very warm, and comforting - especially on a cold, rainy day. I also ordered a veggie melt- which included spinach, a tomato slice, Swiss cheese, and a sauce- which I could not determine what it was. It seemed like a cross between tartar and mayo- kind of. My first experience at Renee's - & it was a good one! I had The Raging' Cajun sandwich on multigrain bread (no onions). Yummmm! It's jalepeno pepper jelly, pepper jack cheese, & turkey - served warm. It's the perfect amount of bite if you like spicy food. I also tried the Spiced Iced Tea (labeled as sweet tea). It was interesting, but pretty good. After I ordered, I read about the she-crab soup. I'll definitely try that next time! Just a side note, it is a more expensive lunch option. The food is good, but it'll run you about $10 for lunch. I stopped by this little sandwich cafe to have a look and pick up some lunch. The grilled sandwiches were most intriguing but they also had quiche and tomato pie on the menu which were also tempting. I settled on a grilled turkey with pepper jack, pepper jelly on sourdough. When it arrived it had the press marks of being on the grill but did not have the color, telling me it wasn't on long enough. The sandwich itself is dainty and also thin. The veggie melt sandwich is delicious, and husband reports that the tuna salad and turkey sandwich with pepper jelly are great as well. Brownies are also very tasty. We came back two days in a row. The second day they were out of the spread that they use on the veggie sandwich, and my makeshift grilled cheese + veggies was fine but significantly more bland (no spread of any kind on the bread). WOW! My husband just brought me a cup of she-crab soup for lunch. OMG it is wonderful! Thick with large chunks of crab and a slight hint of spicy heat. Homemade soup at it's finest! He said the ladies in there were the friendliest, sweetest ladies he has ever met in Warrenton. Bear in mind, this is the same guy that freaked at the slab of pork butt in the BBQ place and refuses, still, to go to Frog & Friends, so for him to say the ladies were great is a huge event. ( The she-crab is only available on Fridays according to the menu included in my lunch bag) This is tiny little building on a side street in old town Warrenton. They are are only open from 10am to 3 pm Mon-Fri. Sandwich prices range from $4.50 for grilled cheese to $5.50 for hot turkey reuben. They also have desserts and pies. If you're looking for a place to grab a quick lunch in Warrenton, STOP HERE! We took a detour off 29 South on our way through town, and it was totally worth the extra 10 minutes. You can taste the love in the freshly made soups, which were sausage and collard greens or chicken and lime the day we were there. We had one of each between two of us. Our hot sandwiches, the veggie melt for me and the Cuban for my partner, were both delicious and refreshingly appropriately-sized on excellent bread.
