Third Street Stuff is colorful and cheesy and so so fun! Their coffees and other drinks are so tasty! I always get a frozen coffee drink and it's amazing choice. The service has always been wonderful, friendly, and helpful. The shop sells a bunch of funky socks and little trinkety things, beyond just the coffee. The store is so colorful and covered in painted quotes, as well as posters for so many events going on around Lexington! It's not around too much else, at least to me, but I think it's worth the trip! read more

The perfect place to do homework and study. It is not too busy or loud, free wifi, comfortable seating. The coffee is good and there is also a variety of food available too. Beware of Signs! The first, asserting proudly, twice in their window, "Coffee Shop Open Until 11:00 PM," one including the addition, "every night." Well...it's just not so! We arrived at 10:45 PM, having located the shop via Yelp's Open Now filter. Lights on, all lit up, but locked tight. Two employees inside were in plain sight. Despite making eye contact with both, neither acknowledged our presence at their door. I pointed several times to their signage, but neither responded. Rude, disrespectful and lazy are words that come to mind. If you advertise open until 11 PM, stay open. If you're going to close early, put up signage explaining the change. Most importantly, walk the 20 feet to your front door and apologize to the customer for inconvenience caused. (We drove across town because this shop indicated they were open until 11 PM.) Consistent with other reviewers who have commented on being ignored by rude baristas, this would not appear to be a customer-centric coffee house. The other, perhaps, telling sign: A visit to their website, ThirdStreetStuff.com, reveals a page of unrelated advertising links, typical when a domain name has not been renewed. Further investigation confirms the domain is "pending renewal or deletion." This generally indicates the domain registration invoice has gone unpaid. You be the judge, but coffee shopper beware! read more

This is a cool shop; the people working there were very friendly and the coffee was really tasty, especially by Lexington standards. In fact, this is the ONLY place I would recommend getting coffee in Lexington. For a college town, Lexington is sadly lacking in good coffee shops, so it's nice that their good one, Third Street, is so damn cool. read more

Super funky psychedelic liberal coffee and loose tea joint that also sells unique accessories and gifts. Don't come here for a quiet coffee house experience. The place is brightly decorated and was rockin some Korn when I stopped in on a Saturday night for some green tea. I love that they offer a great selection of loose teas. I recommend the Moroccan mint green tea. If tea or coffee isn't your thing, check out the variety of bottled sodas they have as well as Italian or cream sodas. If it's your first time visiting and your walking from Transylvania's campus, note that the entrance is on the opposite side of the building and not the front door! Others have written about the fun atmosphere, friendly staff, and visual richness of this place. It is, they are, and WOW IS IT! You may not know that they are very earth friendly. They serve in paper products or washable dishes. They take recycling seriously, and even partner with Seedleaf to compost their compostable waste. Their prices are ok, a little steep for some things, however I understand they have competitive pricing for their coffee and tea products. They have healthy sandwiches and fare. Coffee shop and deli on an acid trip. And boy do I like that. Wait...what? They have free wifi. And a neat little gift shop. Sandwiches are good, nothing to write home about (think store bought bread, bagged salads, and pre-made salad dressings), but they're good. The shop has high ceilings so it can become very loud very quickly. Which is bad when you're on a call and the staff decides that their jokes are hilarious. Everything at Third Street Stuff screams "FUN!" It's the kind of place you'd expect to find in the Louisville highlands, which is exactly why it's the kind of place a lot of young people want to see more of in Lexington. The prices aren't the cheapest you'll ever find, but then this is the kind of establishment run by people you know are going out of their way to make sure no South American orphans are dying to bring you your coffee. Do with that whatever you so choose. Once you experience any of their assorted coffes and teas, paired with a delightfully unique pastry to munch on, you'll be hooked. If it's not to busy you might even get one of the barristas to share some of the house recipies with you. Of course, the thing that really makes a coffe shop great is it's atmosphere, which is what really stands out about Third Street Stuff. It's almost never as swamped as Common Grounds, and the vibrant, creative atmosphere will make you want to dance and laugh and write poetry on the walls and play games with your friends all afternoon, all of which are totally acceptable activities here. Had coffee here this evening. Atmosphere is great, the little shop is so much fun to poke around in. When I realized I'd locked my keys in my car the staff was concerned and made sure I was getting help (I called AAA, no worries lol) and were great at not pressuring me to order until it was resolved. Keys in hand, I ordered the mochanut, on ice, and it was REALLY good. I only drink coffee sparingly, because I'm rather picky and I would definitely some back here again. I'm only not giving 5 stars because I didn't stay for food or try the baked goods, so I don't know how EVERYTHING is, but the drinks and staff are top notch. read more

I've been to third street a few times since I moved to Lexington. By far the best cup of coffee Lexington has to offer. The shop is beautiful and the service is always great. The other day I went and received great customer service as always but I noticed when one of the employees went to the back the other employee would open the register and take some some cash out. I came in a separate time and left a tip in the tip jar. I was sitting at the bar area and I saw the same girl (blue hair) reach in the tip jar and put the money in her pocket when the other employee went to the back. read more

Cool place to study, work, or meet up with an old (or new) friend. Relaxing hipster vibe, colorful walls and eccentric decorations, and of course free wifi. I ordered a Turtle Mocha, and it was wonderful. Just the right ratios of coffee/chocolate/caramel. The place inside is huge and has several different style seating areas: the couches, high top tables with stools, bar area with stools, and more seating in the front and outdoor picnic tables. The best part was half price drinks during the happy hour after 5:00 PM until maybe 6 or 7. I will be back soon and check out the food next time. read more

I have passed this place many times before on my way to getting dinner from Grillfish next door but I finally decided to kick off the first perfect Sunday of this spring by getting a coffee at this place. I was in awe from the moment I parked to the time I left! The ambiance of this place is awesome. Inspirational quotes all over the place, colored artwork adorning the walls, each and every corner of the place decorated in an extremely creative style, so powerful that you fall in love with this place instantly! And I am still waiting in line to place my order. This place gets real busy on Sunday mornings and folks do not mind the wait at all. The queue was constant for the 1 hour I spent at this place and I feel I could spend my whole mornings here. The place gets your creative juices flowing and gets you to think in a broader view outside of the usual. I got the Mocha and the Smoked Salmon everyday bagel, both of which were perfect! Their menu is huge and they have a myriad of coffee flavors you can choose from. I am definitely getting the toffee nut next time! Also, one very interesting thing about this menu is that they have paired some of their drinks with popular personalities across genres to give it a nice twist! The indoor and outdoor seating are both equally beautiful but you got to sit on those lovely colorful benches outside on those nice sunny mornings! I really like their iced lattes and frozen lattes. They use whole milk by default and their drinks have a very creamy taste. The wifi is very flaky here, so expect to tether or not be consistently online. I've also had problems with various teas, even common ones like Earl Grey, being out of stock for days at a time. There's plenty of seating and there are some cozy spots. This has been a good place for meeting others over coffee. The staff are very friendly. read more

This is a great coffee shop to hang out at and work at; I have a friend who just moved to Lexington and after visiting Third Street, I felt like I knew he'd have fun in his new town. A great place for yummy things and a boost of inspiration thanks to the owner, Pat, who is prolific in her art. My favorite drinks are the toffee nut hot chocolate, lucky charm and hot monkey. They have a great variety of loose leaf tea. Try the garden treat or white peony, if you want something unique. As for food, I love a plain bagel with pesto cream cheese and a slice of tomato. There are also some gluten-free treats, if that's more your style. Need a gift or something to spark your creativity? Peruse the gift section. Easily one of my most favorite ever coffee shops. It was large with lots of seating, fun art on the walls, and chalkboards that patrons can write on. There is a great outdoor seating area and lots of fun colors both inside and outside. The staff was efficient and friendly and my coffee was so good, I got the mochanut latte. read more

A very unique, eclectic, fun, whimsical atmosphere. A "Mellow-Mushroom" of coffee houses. Coffee/desserts are fantastic. The reason for three stars is based solely for two reasons: 1) the place was not busy but it took a while for the staff to engage me, even standing right in front of them. I felt I was secondary to their personal conversation and/or to their noses in their phones. 2) the music is way too loud to be enjoyable. I actually stopped in to get a quick hour of work done and the music was just too much. Even with headphones in, I could hear the music over my own. I've noticed coffee houses lately forgetting that music is supposed to be in the background - it's not a concert - nor should it be at that volume. As much as I liked everything else. I love quirky, but based on the two reasons above, it's not enough to make me look forward to going back. read more

Stopped in here while my wife was conducting business downtown. By the outside it didn't seem like my kind of place but it was closest. I'm Not exactly the "hippest" person but was greeted with a smile and a drink recommended by the barista. This place is a sight to see! Bright colors and art is everywhere and they have a big selection of oodwala and jones drinks. The iced turtle mocha or caramel macchiato are my favorite things to get.
