This place is ABSOLUTELY AWESOME! I just recently visited for my second trip. Both times I visited around 9PM so the shop wasn't too busy. The barista was more than helpful both times in trying to help me find a good drink. I had the Mochanut on ice and it was GREAT! You can't leave here in a bad mood. I really like the vibe of Third Street Stuff. It looks so happy with the bright colors and creative touches inside and out. My usual is the Ahman Joy which is meant to taste like an Almond Joy candy bar. It's dark chocolate with a hint of coconut - very soothing on a cold day. Sitting outside is ideal and very comfortable. It seems a bit small inside and the staff at times seems dismissive. So, I like to get it to go and sit outside. But, I'm happy to find such a cool coffee house in Lexington and so close to my workplace. read more

I don't know exactly what I was expecting to find in Lexington, KY, but this independent and brightly colored coffee-shop-and-artsy-boutique-in-one was a pleasant surprise. It has a funky, sort of west coast vibe, from the front of the shop with its cute trinkets to the sunny back room with ample seating. Their outdoor tables were iced over when I went, but look like a great spot to hang out in nicer weather. On the recommendation of a friend, I tried the Hot Monkey (cafe au lait with chocolate and banana) despite my wariness of banana flavored syrup. I thought it was delicious, even though I don't usually take my drinks that sweet. They have a tasty-sounding and vegetarian/vegan-friendly menu of sandwiches and other café fare, and if I move to Lexington (a distinct possibility), I am certain I'll be back to try more of their offerings and camp out with homework. read more

What is there not to like? Funky, quirky, and it is brightest spot on Third Street. This independently owned coffee shop / boutique is a conversation piece. It is a venue for when you want to find a unique accessory, books, and trinkets that are not stamped from a cookie cutter. The owner Pat, who is an artist, has added a lot of the liberal right-brain creativity to the decor. Her wardrobe choice also brings yet another level of artistic creation to this place. Third Street Stuff is one of my favorite lunch venue in downtown. The staffs are very friendly, and of course, we are on first name basis. If you prefer a lighter flare for a midday snack, I would suggest the 3-Cheese Sandwich or the Fresh Mozzarella Sandwich. This place is more than just a coffee shop / boutique. It gives out the vibe of independence, inclusiveness, and creativity. Make a purchase at the boutique, sip the coffee, bite into the sandwich, and you would think that you have been transported to Pike Place Market in Seattle. read more

So cute! Absolutely loved it here. One of the most creative & unique coffee shops I've been to, and I've been to quite a few. They really won me over with the Black History Month specials- I had the Angela Davis (basically a cayenne spiked mocha) and it was absolutely delicious. All the drinks were super reasonably priced for hand crafted coffee. They carry lots of cute trinkets and gifts (like Blue Q socks and totes) and the decorations & art alone are worth a visit. It's a small hip coffee shop in the downtown area. Don't plan any birthday parties here because it's hard to fit a lot of people in the store since it's so small. But, that gives it a lot of character. Also be careful, their tea is hot! It always burns my tongue so my mouth feels weird all day. read more

This is probably my favorite place when I lived in Lexington. The coffee is great but it's the attitude that rocks! You will find the coolest art, music, and people there. It's an awesome place to just be yourself, meet old friends, and make new ones. This local sanctuary is for the young, the old, and everything in between. It looks great, both inside and out. And then you realize it's cold in the tiny interior, so you'd better be in the mood to sit around outside. And the you get your drink and realize it's just...meh. It's not bad, it's just unexpectedly average. Take a jacket and go for the atmosphere and it's all good. It's the hip place to be, sure, I know that. I stop here everyday and I always get decaf but today when I asked for decaf, the young lady with gauges in her ears gave me caffeine. Once I asked for an iced macchiato and she said there's no such thing. I work at a coffee shop myself and I know there is such a thing because I've made them before. I tend to expect a let down from any place that looks this cool, but once I got my mouth around a Hendrik I stopped caring that every surface is hand-painted in psychedelic colors and covered in magnetic poetry. 6 weeks later the owner knew my name & everyone seemed to know I like my London Fog (no seriously order this) searing hot and topped with a veritable lily pad of cinnamon. read more

That said they were open until 11:00 PM. A coffee shop of all places ought to be tech savvy enough to post the correct operating hours. So I'm visiting Lexington on my spring break and this little coffee shop happens to be a few blocks away from my friend's apartment. I've been frequenting it while she's at school and oh man, I love it. It goes a little beyond your basic artsy-fartsy coffee shop in several ways. For one, there's a little quirky store in the back (front?) that sells shirts, candles, post cards, etc. Kinda like Strange Cargo for all my Chicagoans. The coffee shop part is three, maybe four times as big as the store part. The decor fits the atmosphere well. First off, there is SO MUCH COLOR!! No place in Chicago would be able to get away with this palette unless you combined a head shop with a coffee place but it still wouldn't work. The walls are adorned with those poetry things you usually find on college student refrigerators except these are huge. There's a few overhead lamps with those also. There is free no-password wifi which is GREAT. I hate having to put in passwords every single time I visit a place so this is convenient. Outlets are spread out here and there but there's a sufficient number of them so I didn't have to struggle with finding a place to sit. The fellers that work here are SO NICE. Oh gods. I wish half the people in Chicago were this nice. I think this goes for most of Lexington however. People that work here actually seem to enjoy working here as opposed to people that just can't wait till their shift is over. FOOD/DRINK SELECTION. MASSIVE. Huge props for not only having Jolt, but for having pretty much all flavors of it (unlike the three most commonly found in the wild.) That and a full range of Jones soda flavors. There's a myriad more of bottled/canned beverages (Naked Juice!) but those two are my favorite carbonated sugar waters. Third Street also offers awesome Italian Soda in a ton of flavors (even sugar free!) There's a decent coffee/tea selection, nothing too pretentious. You want a cup of Joe, you get a cup of Joe. There are also Espressos and Lattes (hot and iced). There is happy hour however, in which I think either bagels or coffees are half off if you get both? I haven't taken advantage of the deal so I'm not too sure. SEGUE into food! I've only had the bagels during my short stay here but they were delicious. You get your basic selection of plain/seeded/asiago and I had mine with ham and swiss. They're toasted and cut in half and delicious. Third Street does offer a ton of sandwiches however, all decently priced. There's also a decent selection of salads and baked goods. Anyway! I fell in love with this place and I'm gonna try coming at least one more time before I go back to Chicago. Upon my return I'm making it my mission to find a similar place to go hang out at. The funkiest coffee house in Lexington. Serves Sayre School quite a bit; not as much Transylvania University as you would expect. Unusual menu items include a PBJ sandwich with "everything" (anything they have). Also great for waiting while Lowell's fixes your Toyota. read more
