No places to sit - grab and go. While we were ordering, the person working there was super nice and we had a chill chat. They also keep your punch cards for you, so you don't even have to remember to bring it with you. I decided to get myself a mocha. Wow... it was incredible! The couple who run Third Wheel Coffee were super friendly and helpful with suggestions. They also have some pastries you can buy to complement your coffee. CAPPUCCINO - 4.75 +0.75 for oat milk, but it's worth it because the creaminess works well with the espresso. This was a good choice for me because I wanted something with a stronger espresso flavor. I am pleasantly surprised that the espresso shined through and it had the strength more like a cortado which I liked. Still, the drink is on the smaller side so I finished it pretty quickly after. CROISTOCK - 5.50 Essentially, this is a soft piece of toast with ricotta and thin peach slices. I really liked that it wasn't too sweet, and the ricotta's savoriness went well with the tangy and sweet flavors of the peach. I would prefer a "toastier" slice of toast, but I'm OK with less crumbs and mess. An absolutely amazing and totally underrated gem tucked away in Lucinda's. When I'm having even a slightly bad day, I'll stroll over here and grab a chocolate pistachio croissant (I almost cried the first time I had one) and a bev. If I had less self-control (or more money), I would be here every day! The punchcard says it all! Compared to other coffee shops in the area, I like that they have a robust non-coffee menu, in addition to the usual offerings. What also sets them apart is the "small-town" service - while I'm sure they see a lot of new faces, being a block from Alamo, I feel special when they remember who I am... and my obsession with the chocolate pistachio croissants. Incredible! Got two cappuccinos: one regular, and one with rose+cardamom syrup, and both were amazing! The flavored one was because I was between a latte with their homemade syrup and a cappuccino, and he was kind enough to offer that he could make me a cappuccino with syrup :) The taste of the coffee beans themselves in the plain cappuccino was wonderful--reminded me of a fruity + earthy dark chocolate with a touch of cream. In the flavored cappuccino, the syrup wasn't too sweet at all and the cardamom even had a nice earthy and even slightly bitter taste, making me think of a cardamom amaro. For over a year, Third Wheel Coffee has been my go-to place for a pick-me-up. It is a pop-up that is open Thursday thru Sunday inside Lucinda's Deli, near Alamo Square. They are also at the Noe Valley Farmers Market on Wednesdays and also do special events. I am an espresso drinker and was eager to try their wares when I walked into Lucinda's on a Friday and was eagerly greeted by the owner, Tom. He and his spouse/partner Vida have become friends due to the friendly conversation and their expert barista-ing. Their espresso is on the strong side and always freshly made and then served with a smile. Prices are reasonable and they accept credit cards. Their tech is current--you can tap your card to pay or use Apple Pay, too if you don't carry cash. (I don't know if they take AmEx or Discover though.) Their beans are brewed locally and their espresso drinks are expertly made with a small version of the iconic La Marzocco espresso machine. My wife enjoys their cappuccino and chai, depending on her mood. Other hot drinks are available, too--I need to try their hot chocolate on a cold damp day. Something to look forward to this summer, I guess! To conclude, Third Wheel has my enthusiastic thumbs up.
