Every coffee shop should have the one coffee three ways option! I love this! Aside from that, service was super great. We had a 7 drink order (including my one coffee three ways, which should probably count as 3 drinks!), and the drinks were made quickly and accurately. My espresso shot, cortado and coffee were all perfectly executed, and they showed the versatility of their house blend. I also tried my wife's espresso tonic - it was refreshing, had strong espresso flavor, but still very smooth to drink, and left me wanting more. This is a special place. Would definitely come back here.
Funnily enough, I lived in San Francisco for over 2 years without visiting The Coffee Movement. It was always on my radar though. Recently changed that and stopped by. The menu is quite minimalist and straightforward. I ordered an orange vanilla latte with oat milk along with a pair of almond croissants with raspberry filling for my friend and me. The latte wasn't very strong, and the vanilla and citrus notes were light. The baked almond croissants, however, were quite good with whole, fresh raspberries. Both my friend and I really liked them. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This place was popping off when I arrived.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] While the rest of Richmond was chill, this was the spot to be.
I've never had a coffee flight, have you? One coffee served 3 different ways: filter/latte/cortado or 3 different coffees. So fun to try yourself or share with friends. You can ask for steamed oat or regular milk to accompany your flight. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful and the baristas are friendly. It's definitely worth a try.
They definitely know what they're doing at Coffee Movement! Tried one of their lighter roast filter coffees and it was very pleasant and enjoyable - had all the taste notes listed. Service is very friendly! You get welcomed with a smile and they're kind to talk through their menu with you. The Coffee Movement - Balboa/19th TLDR: [[HIGHLIGHT]]Satisfying Craft Coffees and Teas with decidedly friendly service and a natural clean and bright (almost monochromatic) ambiance.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]While waiting for my car to get some preventative maintenance done, I walked a few blocks over to The Coffee Movement. Located a couple of doors up from the quiet intersection of 19th and Balboa, this cute little shop was buzzing (get it? LOL) in the early AM with people coming in constantly and lining up before the counter where they serve you assembly-line style with a succession of specialists behind the counter[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. They definitely greet you with a smile and a welcome, so be sure to return the same! My needs are simple when it comes to coffee, so a simple hot filtered coffee (house blend) was my beverage of choice. That said, they also offer espressos, piccolos, cappuccinos and lattes and six different teas when I went. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Though the seating might look a touch limited, the turnover here is rather rapid amongst customers, so an empty chair or spot along the windows will shortly appear before too long.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restroom was also very clean too.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Quality napkins too.. wow.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was a bit noisy during the morning with tons of conversation and some house music thumping a bit through the speakers, but things calmed down a touch after 11am...[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I enjoyed my time here, and would not mind coming back here at all. They also offer several types of coffee beans. There are three workers behind the counter preparing drinks, and they work very efficiently. Orders come out quickly. We ordered the tasting flight, a cocoa cappuccino, a latte, and some pastries. I really enjoyed the tasting flight -- it's a unique way to sample three different coffees or brewing styles. It was a great experience. We usually stop by whenever we're in the area. The prices are reasonable and affordable. I also really like their espresso machine. Parking is on the street and could be challenging near the shop.
While walking with my family from the Richmond to the Sunset for lunch, we stopped at The Coffee Movement on 19th Ave. and Balboa. Only two of us decided to get a drink. We tried the house blend from Honduras & Guatemala (Tasting Notes: dark chocolate, dried orange and shortbread). Mine was a bit too sweet, so I asked the barista to add more coffee, which improved it a lot. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The space is cozy, inviting, and very relaxing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Next time, I'd love to come back on my own to relax and enjoy the atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I'd also like to try most everything on my list--cocoa cappuccino, seasonal drinks, teas, and pastries. It will take several visits!

This place is great for buying beans as their roasts are always so fresh. I like their house coffee and I'm glad it's nearby. With that said, they do tend to roast lighter and I think their coffee lends itself better to drip/pourover/french press. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The seating is minimal inside and a little stark but on a nice day, it's nice to sit outside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They're located in quiet part of the Richmond which is nice if you want to have a leisurely coffee trip.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Definitely delicious coffees. I'll probably need to find alternatives for the version of espresso I want. Either way, if you're a coffee aficionado, you'll enjoy it.
Coffee here is 5/5! I usually get the house blend americano and it's great. Their pour over gesha coffee was really good and unique; it tasted like tea, light and easy to drink. The only thing I didn't like was the ham & cheese croissant, which was cold and stale. It's a small spot and the inside is very aesthetic with some seating. No lines if you come early in the morning before 8:30am.

Anyway, I'm usually in Richmond and I hit up my friend to grab caffeine and walk since he lives in the area. We met at The Coffee Movement which is so unassuming. It's in a very residential area and a little hole in the wall, which makes it even more vibey. There's a decent amount of communal seating inside and a few seats outside. Service was superb and felt very personable! Everyone working there was kind, courteous, and happy to help. Drinks are made on the spot, they have their own system which works effectively! I got an Iced Matcha Latte with Oat Milk and Seasonal Syrup. At this time, the syrup is orange vanilla. This was a wonderfully well-balanced drink. The zesty orange and hints of vanilla balanced well with the earthy matcha. It was lovely to sip on. My friend got the flight and he was impressed and enjoyed it. We got our drinks here but some people got theirs to go. If you live in Richmond, The Coffee Movement is a neighborhood favorite and worth a visit. Perfect to hang with friends at, work from, or just grab a drink to-go. I look forward to patronizing their establishment again! It's off Balboa Street, a little hidden, but if you see a group of people outside that's the spot. Residential parking only.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]very cute spot for coffee![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] they have their process downnn. order when you first step in with the barista on bar so they can start your drink, and by the time you pay, your drink is basically done. solid price for a specialty latte! $6 flat, so what you see is what you pay. no extra $ for oat milk, and they use ghost town oats if that means anything to you! i got their seasonal orange vanilla latte and it personally wasnt for me. it tastes like what it's advertised, but i just wasn't the biggest fan! would come back to order an iced americano or a regular iced vanilla latte or something :p service was good!! all the staff were very kind and chill read more

This amazing coffee shop is more than superb coffee but a movement in striking conversations with random people who are waiting for their coffee. It is a shared common place to sparking up a conversation. I offered two kind people my chair while waiting for my Togo order. A ten minute exchange of small talk, happiness and smiles made me feel more connected. I left with my order of Cocoa Cappuccino (dark chocolate dusted), black sesame pastry (a signature sweet), an iced black tea and a great smile with a warm heart that I met two kind people. Thank you! The ambiance has clean lines and warm birch woods with light pastel paints. Accents of the black coffee cups and delicious pastries make the product stand out. read more

Word on the street this is the best coffee in SF. One step in and you will see why. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's legit equipment, it smells really good, and it's always bustling.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We got two cappuccino dusted with dark chocolate and although the chocolate was subdued, we still really enjoy our coffee. This shop is one of the few that will give you the proper portion of an actual cappuccino and not in a standard coffee cup. read more

The coffee movement is one of my go to spots in the central richmond area! The staff is always nice and helpful and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the set up of the space gives a modern/minimalistic feel.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They have some seasonal drinks and the most current one is good, I also tried the orange spice latte last season which was really tasty. This is one of the coffee spots I'd recommend trying . (P.s. the line gets a little longer on the weekends but usually goes by quick!) read more

Been one of our favorite coffee places over the past 3(?) years since they've opened on Balboa. Consistently delicious and everyone working there is always so lovely to chat with. Coffee Movement was the second cafe I'd been to at the time where I could finally taste all the notes in a pourover or even the drip (first one was a place called Pinhole Coffee in Singapore!). Blew my mind that coffee could be as floral and delicate as a high-quality tea. Comes through even in the drip coffee (which is honestly SO good and miles better than other cafes' best pourovers). Espressos are pretty on point also and the crema on the cortados is always super silky and perfectly sweet still. I will say though in the past several months, it hasn't hit quite the same. Not sure if it's the roasters they're using (which rotate all the time) but the pourovers generally have been muddier. Overall still one of the best coffee places we've been to anywhere, not just in SF! Whenever we travel, Coffee Movement is the benchmark we use for other coffee makers. read more
One of the top coffee places in the city and this location was not as busy as the Chinatown one. They have an open layout with an easy ordering process. The dirty matcha was strong, but it didn't overpower the matcha flavor. The teas here are from Song Tea! It's a local business in San Francisco. They have window seating with space for individuals on their laptops. Overall, this is a must go whenever in the area. read more

A friend recommended this coffee shop and it definitely hit the spot! I ordered the vanilla lavender latte ($5.75) and an iced coffee ($4) for the fiancé. I'm 99% sure I requested an iced drink and didn't realize I got a hot drink until I was back in my car... silly me. Regardless, I enjoyed my drink. It wasn't super sweet and the latte art is always a nice touch! The iced coffee wasn't too bitter and was pretty smooth. I appreciate how staff set aside the lids you'll need for the drinks. Sometimes I get a little iffy because you have randoms grabbing at lids and who knows how clean people are. read more
You know a place is good when there's a line even on Monday morning. Not to worry, the line goes fast! And it's definitely worth it. Maybe one of my favorite espressos I've had. Plenty of space to sit indoors and outdoors (maybe not to post up with a laptop but to sip a coffee with a friend). Really knowledgeable baristas. Cappuccino test: failed Don't get me wrong-- I love this neighborhood hot spot. I've had great, uniquely flavored coffees and teas here. I'm a big cappuccino girl and know it's hard to find somewhere that properly pours a cap. Sad to report that coffee movement didn't pass this test. A cappuccino is mostly foam (if not bone dry). Steamed milk & espresso is a LATTE. Word to the wise- don't fall for paying more for a cappuccino if they're just gonna pour you a smaller latte. HIGHLY recommend: coffee cream soda, carrot tea. read more

There was a line outside, about five minute wait, but very aesthetic and cute in there. The baristas were super social and kind, and the latte was sooo good quality. I love the latte art. my bf got a normal cup of coffee and he liked it. Seems like a legit cafe, the cappuccino was true to its size, i wish i would've asked for sugar and stuff since i like my drink sweet. if you're a true coffee and latte fan who likes quality, this is your place! read more

Different coffee shop set up then what I'm used to. They have a limited number of things. It's like an assembly line. One person does one thing and only one thing. Went in June (it's now October) and nothing is standing out. Also very small size. High quality though. read more

Big fan of Coffee Movement and so glad they opened in the Richmond! The line can be long depending on the time of day, but honestly--totally worth it. The baristas are super chill, everything moves at a steady pace, and the quality of the coffee makes the wait feel justified. The space is small but really cute--minimalist, warm, and coz. It's not really a spot to post up with a laptop for hours, but perfect for grabbing a drink, chatting with a friend, or just taking a quiet moment with your coffee. I've tried a few of their drinks and they've all been consistently solid--smooth, flavorful, and not overly sweet. My favorite is always going to be their seasonal, orange latte. Definitely a go-to when I'm in the area. read more

Was recommended this spot by a barista at Moonwake Coffee Roasters in San Jose, and it did not disappoint! We ordered the Geisha pour-over and an espresso tonic. The pour-over took a bit of time (as expected) but was brewed beautifully--light in body with fruity notes that became more pronounced as it cooled. My fiancé also really enjoyed his espresso tonic! Definitely worth a stop if you're a coffee lover! read more

I've been wanting to come here for a while after hearing so much hype. M The cafe is small with a very clean minimalist vibe and only a couple benches for seating. They make the coffee in front of you on a bar counter though, it was really cool to see. I got an orange cream latte and my bf got the coffee cream soda. Orange latte was whatever but the coffee cream soda was soo good. Would definitely go back for that and to try other seasonal drinks. read more
