I just love this Theme with a beaver with fork in one hand and a beer in the other hand! Screams out fun, food and entertainment! The smile on the Beavers face adds too the picture. Handcrafted bars with bark trimming and bright light colored wood adds to the warm ambience. Staff are friendly and prompt. Menu is original and drinks are fabulous. Fun time for all!! read more

The food and drinks here aren't bad at all. I have had everything from OK to pretty bad customer service depending on the time. It is a very lively place though! So if you are looking for a night out in a lively environment without leaving Cranston, this is probably the place for you! I just wished their staff is a little friendlier. Cute atmosphere but they leave a large garage door open so that an annoying bug lingered at our table ALL through our dinner, If I wanted to eat with bugs I would have chosen a table on the patio! Servers need to be trained on proper service. Pulling away plates while others in the party are still eating, that's a no no. She brought out my dish and there were regular fries instead on sweet potato fries. Instead of just getting me the correct side, she first tried to say that that was the KITCHENS fault, not hers!!! Are you kidding me!!! She came to the table too many times, it was awkward, and continued to leave the empty beer bottle. OK, so the blonde was "green", the burgers were good, but overall I would not bother to go back, there was nothing that was special. read more

This is a great local pub. Great food! Great drinks and great service. I'm in my 30's and I go there with my mom in her 60's. The staff is welcoming and greets you with a smile. The owners truly appreciate their customers and the support of the community. They are very into giving back, which in turns makes me want to support them even more. My mom and I have been known to eat there 3 or 4 times a week. Mondays are $2 drafts and Tuesdays are 50 cent wings, what a bargain. I am addicted to their Reuben sandwich and I never ate them until I began going there. Their sweet potato fries are the bomb and my mom swears by their chili. Karaoke night is a blast. Even though I can't sing well, who cares, it's a fun night. And for us ladies, there are drink specials on Thursday nights. Since i have started coming here there has been nothing but great customer service as well as always feeling welcome as soon as you walk in the door. Went last night for the first time. I was impressed and happy all around. Five stars for me is out of this world, fantastic. If I could, this would be a 4.5 rating. Chicken wings were excellent, drink selection good (Moscow Mules on tap was pretty sweet). I had the pulled pork sandwich w/ sweet potato fries. The sandwich was good and the fries were really good. For years I always said that RI needed a place to go grab good comfort food. I was introduced to this place by my wife's co-workers who are from Cranston. You can't keep me away from this place now. The wings are great. They are niced sized, great quality wings. You can tell they don't skimp on quality with their food selection. The pizza's are great. Don't leave without grabbing nachos. They give you enough to feed 4 people. We never finish them all. Everything on the menu is priced just right. The atmosphere is awesome. My fiance and I have been to Thirsty Beaver twice and really enjoyed the drinks and food. Our first time was a Saturday night and there were some patrons at the bar who were very loud and distracting which I expected at a bar but it was fairly early in the evening and some people were trying to enjoy a dinner. They have Angry Orchard on draft with cinnamon rim which is a huge plus for me as I can never find a bar that has my favorite cider with rim! They also had a large selection of IPAs for my fiance to choose from; both occasions he had two beers and was very impressed. Our food was better than average for "bar food" and we were very pleased both times. My only complaint is that it is extremely hot inside. Not sure if AC is available/not working but we came in on two very hot nights in the summer and were breaking a sweat over our dinner. Other than that, very good and reasonably priced! read more

What stands out the most about this joint is the almost beer garden feel on the inside - essentially picture a large walk-in garage with wall to wall white pine slats and matching booths and tables. It's a nice feel when there's clientele. The bar is spacious and very well-stocked - a blend of curiosity-factor taps (Moscow Mule) and standbys (Yuengling, ect.) Standard pricing - I'd say a little above the type of food you're ordering, but you will get a lot of it and it's very good. Bar service is great, table service is very good. Ordered a medium rare burger and my burger was a hockey puck. Fiancé ordered meatloaf that was overlooked and had way too much sauce. Manager offered to take off the burger but offered no solution for the meatloaf. A $65 bill that will definitely be spent elsewhere. Never again. read more

With a variety of cheap beer on tap, strong mixed drinks, and delicious food, it is a great spot to pop into for a quick lunch, an afternoon delight, or a Friday night out on the town. The staff is as good as it gets... they are friendly, fast, and good at their jobs... from the owners right down to the busboys. The atomosphere is relaxed and fun, and bringing a child in for lunch you never feel like you are at a bar. I love everything about this place EXCEPT the loud music. You literally have to scream to the person sitting next to you to have a conversation. If I am at a bar, I am there to have good conversation with friends, with soft background music, not yell to the person next to me. The only way there should be music that loud is if there is a dance floor! Other than that, the food is always good, the servers are always fast and extremely friendly. However most nights I am much more apt to go somewhere else if I am with a group of friends so that I can actually hear them! read more

I am a regular here! I am such a fan. Whether I come in with a group of 4 or a party or 20 (which happens often) the food is fantastic and the service is great. Justin always accommodates everyone and makes sure that everything is running smoothly. When I go in i always ask for Pete to be our server because he truly makes the experience much better. He is attentive and so pleasant! Every time my friends and/or family and I leave they always rant and rave about what great service we have had from Pete. Next time you are in there, request Pete as your waiter. You won't regret it. Also: The grilled pizzas are my favorite- must try! And lastly the only reason this review is getting 4 stars instead of 5 is because I feel as though the bar could use an extra bartender since Ryan is not so friendly and sort of ruined my last night in there. We go here often since it opened and never had a bad experience. The food is always very good and probably the best pub food around......their nachos are the best around and I've tried them everywhere. Burgers are fantastic also. Apps are always updated and also very good. Portions are outstanding and I'm always checking places to see if they skimp but not here. You won't be disappointed. Service is always great as well. I ordered the Chipmunk Cheese which was excellent. My husband ordered the steak sandwich which, according to the menu comes with cheese, mushrooms, onions and peppers but really they charge $1 for each extra so what should have cost $12 according to the menu really costs a lot more. And some of the drink prices have increased in price but you don't know that until you get the bill. Kind of a bait n switch. Food was good. Service was more surly than friendly. My wife and I also went to this pub for the first time last night. We traveled in from Foster to check it out for two reasons. First was I used to live right down the road and was excited to see something new in the area that would fill the hole of "no hometown type pub" since Challengers left ages ago and second, I wanted to check out the Log Cabin theme whereas I am in the Log Home biz. First let me be clear, I have zero interest in sports so if March Madness was on or not was a non issue to me. Upon arrival we observed the place to be packed and everyone seemed to be having a great time. With no available seats together, one of the bartenders went out of his way to grab stools from two ends of the bar (without us asking) and fit us in comfortably, we did not get the "you will just have to wait" usual line. After seating we were greeted and served at the bar by a nice young lady who was attentive, cordial and efficient. I had a great seat to watch the other people working in the bar and was pleased to see none of the usual chatting in the corner while the hungry hoards starve. They all were running like busy little beavers :) . Again, plenty of time to watch people whereas the TV has no interest to me. However, one of the owners came by 2 times, once to ask if we were ok with the TV selection and once to ask how the food and service was. Another welcomed surprise. While sitting, a gentleman knocked his drink over and broke his glass behind us, within moments a team responded to clean up the mess and bring fresh beverages. Not like the normal "kick it to the side and clean it up after closing". Another important observation was the bathrooms as well as the rest of the pub was spotless. They clearly spared no expense to have the finest details throughout such as the epoxy bark edge bar top and countertops. The food and beverage selection was fantastic for a Pub and I found the prices to be lower than they are out our way, considerably. Is it bright, yes....it is popular....yes, were there many TV choices.....yes. My tastes are more of the dark, drab, run down nearly out of business places so for me to be out in a "hip" place is sort of unusual. If you prefer sitting in the dark with 1 or 2 patrons eating reheats from BJ's, listening to the crickets and drinking Miller Lite, then you may be a bit disappointed. However if you wish to be where everyone seems to want to be, catch any and all games, get great service and a great selection at a reasonable price, then this is your place. I am usually not one to come to restaurants and complain. However, the series of events here pushed me over the edge. Typically, I go to the Thirsty Beaver in Smithfield, RI. I'm going to tell you right now, if you're thinking about coming here just take the extra 20 minutes down 295 there. The food in Smithfield is always phenomenal and the service is even better. My boyfriend and and one of our friends were in the Cranston area looking for something to eat and we saw the familiar restaurant. We came in and there was no hostess at the bar. We stood there for almost 10 minutes while waiters and waitresses started at us. Finally, a waitress told us to seat ourselves. Keep in mind, there were probably only three tables seated at the time at 5pm on a Saturday night. (This should've been the first sign.) We sat down for a good 20 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us. Three waitresses were giggling in the back looking like they were having the time of their lives. Finally, a man came over and asked what we wanted to drink. 10 minutes later he came back with our drinks and told us he'd be back to take our order. 10 minutes LATER he comes back and takes our order. We waited an hour for our appetizers. He came out with our food and my boyfriend asked for some ranch dressing which took 20 minutes to get to our table. After given our food, we were never checked on and the waiter didn't even come to give us the check for at least an hour after we got our food!!! He brought us the check and ensured us that he'd be right back. At this point, we were aggravated but what happened next pushed us over the edge. The waiter took a party of 8's order and went to the men's room, (Taking about 20 minutes.) We then saw him go into the back room and he disappeared for another 10. At this point, we were over it so I had my boyfriend go up the bar and ask nicely if someone could ring up our check. The girl behind the counter took our check and our card for another ten minutes then walked over to us and said, "He's the only strong one here so he's downstairs changing a keg." I've worked in the restaurant business for years and I know for a facts that the proper thing to do is to ask someone to watch your table while you step away. The girl was extremely rude and was giggling and talking with coworkers instead of just swiping our card!!! It's not that hard. So my friend and I went out to the car while my boyfriend waited for the transaction to be complete. To our surprise, our dear waiter was SMOKING A CIGARETTE! Not changing a keg!!! I was infuriated. Moral of the story, just spend the extra 20 minutes and drive to Smithfield. Horrible service and okay food. read more

My first visit to this restaurant wasn't bad, some co-workers and I were getting together for a night out. We sat outside at the picnic tables and had the $6 margaritas, the parking was tough but the waiter was consistently coming out to check on us. I returned with my sister on a Saturday night as I wanted to try out the food, it was a cooler night so we decided to sit inside. Upon entering there was one staff member behind the bar on her phone and no one else in sight, we sat ourselves at a table about halfway inside away from the open doors. Eventually a waiter came over and gave us menus, we both ordered a drink and the chip and dip appetizer to share. We also split a margarita pizza (though after placing the chip and dip order the waiter's response was "is that it or do you need more food" which I found to be rude) The drink was good, the chip and dip and pizza were just ok. The music was really loud and although the place was practically empty I had to keep yelling across the table, by the time we left I felt like I had been screaming at a concert all night long. Additionally they turn the lights off at 9pm, I have no idea why. They allow smoking outside which would be fine if they didn't allow it right on the deck, smoke and bugs were floating in all night. The drinks were pricy at $11 each, originally I had considered giving it another chance but it was a bad experience all around. read more

I absolutely love the concept here! The log cabin feel and the garage doors make this bar stand apart from others. The ambiance and atmosphere is one of a kind! Great idea by the entrepreneurial owners. I enjoy the fact that they have outdoor and indoor seating! Also the fact that their food is inspired by a variety of different pallets is very appealing to a customer like me who feels as though original, traditional, dishes are blasé! But you never get that here! As a bartender myself I was really happy with the drink menu because not many places master the perfection of a mixed drink. Needless to say the food is good. Friendly, helpful, attentive, down to earth staff, and always excellent service. However my favorite part is the unique atmosphere! Reasonable prices and I also like the variety of the crowd. I hate going to a location in which its either an older crowd or a young one- this bar has an eclectic bar. Variety is the spice of life! read more

This pub is a breath of fresh air. Cranston has needed a hometown bar for a long time. The food is creative and good. You don't need to be a Cranston resident to appreciate the variety of the menu, but if you are you will love the names of the dishes. I have been several times now and I have yet to be disappointed. Also worth noting is this is a great place to bring family for a bite to eat or a group of friends for a night of drinking. The bar offers well priced drinks to go along with the extensive menu and the service has been delightful each time I have been a patron. Lots of beer choices food was great when the first opened but started to go down hill shortly after. Ordered the loaded meatball sandwich and there was 1 meatball cut in half but loaded with peppers, should have been called the loaded pepper sandwich. Also had the steak sandwich and the bread tasted like it was 4 days old. VERY VERY loud in there due to open and high cealing. Will give them a try again after they work on these issues. read more

The thirsty beaver is a great place to have lunch, dinner, an after work beverage, or to catch a sports game on one of their 7 tvs. They have live music from time to time. My girlfriend and I love going here the drinks are great and the food is great. The menu is modeled after specific parts of cranston, whether its the st marys feast or the east/west rivalry. The atmosphere is upbeat and classy. I highly recommend checking it out and supporting a true local pub/bar. Try the Knightsville log rolls I promise you won't be disappointed. read more

we where a party of nine coworkers. drinks and food are average bar type foods nothing superior but also nothing sub par. drinks and food was priced average to slightly over average for a pub grub kinda menu. very loud due to the open empty space that the high ceilings give. but alas I probably wont go back, it may seem silly to some but one of us ordered a burger and when it arrived he asked for a little mayo. the server returned with a small plastic cup of it and said they would charge .50 cents for it . really the bill ended up with tip a little over $350 bucks and they charged us .50 cents for mayo . there's plenty of other places to go. read more
