This was our first stop of the night, right on the south end of Silver Lake. Our game plan was simple: start here, then walk north and pop into anywhere that looked fun along the way. Thirsty Crow was the perfect place to kick things off. They've got different daily specials (see photo) and all-day happy hour on Wednesdays and Sundays (until 9 p.m. the rest of the week), which is basically unheard of in LA. $9-$10 well crafted cocktails that actually taste good? Hard to beat. They don't serve food, but they encourage you to bring your own or order delivery, which I love. It keeps the vibe casual and neighborhood-y, no frills, just solid drinks and a good atmosphere. Overall, a great starting point for a Silver Lake night out....easygoing, well-priced, and just the right kind of buzz to get the evening rolling.

The vibes here are immaculate. I thoroughly appreciated Taylor, was able and ready to make me my favorite cocktail - The Last Word. It came out perfectly! Would recommend to meet up with friends or make new ones!

Gorgeous lounge with strong character that felt like a romanticized version of shrek's shack. I mean that as the most sincere compliment. This glorified swamp bar is still vibrant in warm dim lighting, whimsical wooden features, unique seating space and great drinks! I had never been to such a cocktail lounge and I was definitely there for it. It was easy to unwind and catch up with friends about the day and so on. As we gabbed, we had delicious cocktails, bummed a few cigs seated outside, and got some bread from a local baker with a setup outside their bar. My Carajillo was made beautifully. It had a creamy top and boozy espresso fill. Their mezcal marg is also tasty. Its smoky and savory dressed finish with the tajin had been done well and was a favorite of mine from the happy hour selection. The vibes were authentically charming, and designed for what felt like a great escape from the city yet somehow still in the mix of Silver Lake, make it make sense. Their happy hour prices were great and would consider this spot in the future for sure. We all enjoyed the bar, service and Middle Earth aesthetic, our visit was great!

As an LA native, this is my favorite bar in the entire city! It's rare to find a place that still has a dive bar feel and such a strong sense of community. All of the bar tenders are super friendly and easy to talk to and get to know! Wednesday nights are my favorite since there's karaoke, and bartenders Kalani and Noah navigate the chaos so effortlessly. Kalani makes a kick ass whiskey sour, and for all my sober friends, the best prickly pear mocktail you've ever had! I've met many of my now very close friends at Thirsty Crow, and every time I enter the thresholds of this fine establishment, it's always a grand time. I, like many others, have found love at the Thirsty Crow.

Great bar in Silver Lake. Went late on a Thursday night and it was lively. The music was great and the drinks were even better! Street parking was tough, but found a spot further up the street. Definitely recommend the Winter Margarita.

Came to this hip ass bar in Silver Lake for the good happy hour. If you like dark bars with charm, this is one. Thirsty Crow is known for the great drinks and specials. Hand crafted cocktails. You can get top notch stuff at cheap prices. A cool place with an old look to it. It's kind of like throwback hipster if you want to call it that. The place only has drinks, with a crap ton of whiskeys. Go at happy hour. These are seriously incredible specials. It's $8 for bourbon, including good ones. There's plenty of classic cocktails they can make as well. It's $10 for an Old Fashioned. That's pretty good for around here to be honest. For sure it's a place to save money on great cocktails. It's got an old but hip feel to it. This gets crowds for the happy hour specials.

$10 happy hour. Beer and shot.

Drinks and service is good. Great happy hour and chill ambiance! Bartender was nice and attentive.

Drinks & service are ok. I'm giving a 2 star because I was forced to tip 20% off six drinks in a span of two & a half hours, which is ridiculous. It was just my husband & I in our own world. No one attending to us. We ended up paying nearly $20 in tip. I think it's a bit excessive.

Great atmosphere and vibe. It was a little hole in the wall while we waited for the sushi restaurant nearby. Service was a bit slower because they had 1 bartender and a rush that came but nothing too bad. The happy hour menu had a small selection of manhattan, old fashioneds, margaritas, beer.

I first came to Thirsty Crow last August for my birthday and I've been coming back ever since. Most if not all celebrations have taken place here. It's a really social spot--easy to strike up conversations, whether you go alone or with friends. You won't find better bartenders, DJs or managers ANYWHERE, sorry not sorry. I usually go on Wednesdays for karaoke, which is always a good time, and there's a chicken nugget stand called Nugtown right outside that night that's honestly amazing. They also have other events throughout the week like game nights on Mondays and Sip & Sketch on Thursdays. The drinks are solid, the vibe's always good, and it's just one of those places that keeps you coming back. A time will always be had when it comes to the crow !

Went here for a happy hour drink while here for a weekend trip and really loved the decor, the service was welcoming and helpful, and they had great beer!

(A lot of thought went into the acoustics & speaker system.) This chic establishment serves up European-inspired small plates, and their cocktail program melds inspiration with a respect for classic structure. The sultry pulsating bass lines that ooze through the speakers set the tone for a chilled vibe, and the tropical motifs provide an escape from reality. It's a great spot to relax and catch a game or hang with friends, which I did. I met some of my favorite Yelp peeps here for Sunday Brunch. We received a warm & friendly welcome from Rasheeda (bartender). She was darling, as was our server, Mason. They were both fantastic. We settled into the cozy couches tucked in the corner and ordered several dishes to share: Hummus, Prosciutto Panino, Eggplant Panino, Mediterranean Eggs, Green Shakshuka, & Fries. Drinks consisted of: Nitro Cold Brew, Bloody Mary, Age of Aquarius, & a Lavender Gimlet. The fries were tossed with rosemary salt and came with garlic aioli & ketchup. They were addicting & delicious. My Lavender Gimlet did not disappoint. Everyone enjoyed their selections, and we had a great time together. This was the perfect meet up spot. I'm looking forward to coming back. *Street parking (can be tricky.) Metered parking across the street. *Happy Hour 2 pm - 6 pm daily & all-day Monday.

The decor was a garden type setting with floral designs throughout the venue. There are pub tables with high-top stools. We snagged a corner couch with a coffee table in the center. It was very comfortable, like we were visiting someone's home. It's a perfect place for small or large groups. We ordered: - Prosciutto Panini - on focaccia with mozzarella, spinach, red onion, olive aioli and pickled veggies on the side. - Eggplant Panini - on focaccia, feta and provolone cheeses, tomatoes, arugula and pickled veggies on the side. - French Fries with dipping sauce - Hummus Plate - with sliced pita bread - Mediterranean eggs - on burrata cheese, topped with secret glaze and garnish. The employees were super friendly and helpful (Mason and Rashida), they really made us feel welcomed. Bookmark this place for a date night, birthday celebration, or cocktails with friends. They have a full bar, the mixologist has a specialty drink list and all your favorites (tequila, rum, vodka, whisky, etc). There is a DJ station for night-time live entertainment. They do not have a parking lot, there is street parking in front and at side streets (next to Starbucks). Sincerely. Rosemary

We decided to get a drink to celebrate Father's Day, only to strike out at the first two bars we tried--I guess a lot of places are closed at 9:30 on a Sunday. This is how we ended up at Thunderbolt, a buzzy bar in Echo Park, just far enough away that we'd never made our way over. I loved it immediately. Thunderbolt has the friendly, comfortable atmosphere of a neighborhood bar and the hip aesthetic and high-level cocktails of a millennial boozer destination. (Not that young people can't or shouldn't hang out here, but it seems especially geared toward people like us, who drank at Walker Inn a decade ago.) We ended up sitting next to a guy who regularly drives up from Palos Verdes. I guess the place gets pretty busy, but it was ideal on a Sunday night. Happening but not crowded, with just enough space at the bar for us to grab two seats together. The bartender was great, super helpful and welcoming. He also made excellent drinks. Thunderbolt is one of those bars with an encyclopedic illustrated book for a menu. Not a long menu, just a detailed one, with a lot of information available about each drink. We got a Liquid Picnic and a Barcelonnette--just one round to close out the weekend. Both were delicious. The Liquid Picnic was a smooth, savory gin martini made with London dry gin, tomato, citron, vermouth, rosemary, and black pepper. I learned from the book that it used clarified tomato water. (There was also further reading about the clarification process.) The Barcelonnette was a mezcal sour with Suze, passionfruit, and lime, the foam made without egg white through some geeky mixologist process. Thunderbolt is not our neighborhood bar, but we plan to go back when we can to check out the rest of the menu. It's a wonderful place, well worth a jaunt on the freeway.

The bar itself has a cozy atmosphere, and the photo booths are a great touch. We first ordered drinks from a female bartender who was friendly, professional, and served us quickly. The restrooms were clean and spacious. Having only two stalls for such a busy venue isn't ideal, but it could always be worse. Later, we went back to order another round. An older white bartender wearing glasses started serving us, and while he was preparing our drinks, he was also taking another group's order at the same time. I completely understood that since the bar was very busy. We ordered two Whiskey Sours and one of the bar's signature cucumber cocktails. The Whiskey Sours were served in margarita glasses without ice instead of traditional whiskey glasses. I assumed they had simply run out of the proper glassware because the bar was packed, so we didn't complain. The real problem started when it was time to pay. The bartender placed the payment terminal in front of the other group instead of us, and they accidentally paid for our order. Instead of acknowledging that it was his mistake, he immediately acted as if it was somehow our fault. We tried to resolve the situation calmly and even offered to pay the other group's bill and buy them an extra drink to make up for the price difference (their bill was about $31, while ours was around $45). When it came time for us to pay, I chose not to leave a tip because of the multiple mistakes that had already happened. At that point, the bartender completely lost his temper. In the middle of a packed bar, he raised his voice and started yelling at us, saying it was disrespectful not to tip him. He also complained that we had ordered drinks that weren't on the regular menu and that making them had taken him "so much time." As a bartender myself, I know exactly how long it takes to make a Whiskey Sour, and it's certainly not an unusually time-consuming cocktail. If preparing it had been a problem, he could have simply told us before taking our order. He continued shouting that the bar was extremely busy, called our behavior "disrespectful" and "f***ed up," and finally told us he would never serve us again. We were honestly shocked. This was the first time we've ever experienced someone reacting this aggressively simply because we chose not to leave a tip, especially after such poor service. I've worked in customer service for years, and I always tip when I receive good service. I would have had absolutely no problem leaving a generous tip if our experience had been pleasant. After that confrontation, we no longer felt comfortable staying in the bar, so we left immediately with a very negative impression. Looking back, I wish I had read the reviews beforehand. It seems that many of the negative reviews mention the exact same bartender. A truly disappointing experience.
