I can't knock the Thirsty Lion, the food is pretty good here for being such a commercialized establishment, especially! They do also have a happy hour, but the prices are just moderately happy, I'd call it. The Gochujang bbq pork rice is probably the best thing I've had here. And I like their classic bloody mary pretty well. I'm not typically a dessert person, but last visit it was so hot and I wanted something that hit the spot. But, the whiskey apple dessert didn't hit it for me. There was not enough ice cream--it needs a lot more to be able to eat with the apples. The dessert itself was just ok, the flavor could've been better, the crumble could've been better or more of a crust maybe instead? Idk it just was not a home run and I've had much better apple desserts such as pies and crisps. read more

We came here as it was the meeting spot for our bus to Red Rocks. Service was incredible our service was excellent with timing and explaining the offerings with the bus. Spinach dip was pretty good. Fried chicken was in a jalapeño buttermilk and I was worried about spice but it was very very mild and really good. The mac and cheese was not really a cream sauce it was more just melted cheese with all just cheese pull after cheese pull so was very heavy and just not my preference. Place was very nice, great spot to have a drink and food before you head to concert or home after work. read more

My company hosted a few happy hour networking events here and were generally satisfied. If anyone reading this is thinking of doing the same thing, I would recommend it but they do not have private rooms just FYI. The location really can't be beat. It's in the heart of downtown steps away from Union Station. Again, great for getting people to come to your networking event. The food and drinks are all really tasty and well made. Prices during happy hour are very reasonable and selection during that time is also good with plenty to choose from. To complement the food and drinks, service has always been perfect. Huge kudos to the bartender that helped me the last time I was there. I would come back just to get served by her again. The one downfall I would say about Thirsty Lion is that the appointment booking process was very difficult and convoluted with different people saying different things. read more

I know we came in when they were busy, but the service was awful. We sat at the bar and we were not even acknowledged. After about 20 minutes we had to flag someone down just to get menus. Our server was not very friendly either. I ordered the Ruben and it was just okay. The meat seemed like it was deli meat and not fresh corned beef . It has been ages since we have stopped in here for food, and I have to say, was pleasantly surprised by how good the food was. It is conveniently located right by Union Station, and there is plenty of seating both inside, and outside (we opted for outside). We sat at a high top table next to the building, with a great view of Union Station, and the fountains. Our server came over right away, and took our drink orders while we perused the menu. I started with a cucumber rosemary gin and tonic - which was refreshing and delicious. For food, we ordered a bunch of appetizers and split them. We had the beer battered cheese curds - fried in tempura batter (light/not overly greasy), served with a sriracha aioli and jalapeno jam. The bacon wrapped bbq prawns (comes with a pile of sticky rice), were so flavorful. The tuna sushi role was also very good. The ahi poke stack was really good, with generous portions of rice, ahi, and avocado. The only downside to this dish was the wontons - they were sort of crunchy, but almost soggy at the same time - almost as though they weren't freshly prepared and were re-warmed up.
