I ordered the Corn Beef hash with potatoes and poached eggs. Well, what was served to me was, cubed sauage that was like a piece of rubber, with huge chunks of potatoes and white gravy. I can not fault the staff in any way. In fact I would hope that OSHA would intercede on thier behalf as they are truly martyrs . The issue is not that this place has as much charm as a bennigans, or that it is as soulless and generic as a restaurant can be. That can be forgiven, its a generic restaurant near the train station; why expect more than an airport restaurant level of ambiance? The issue is this place smells BAD, and I mean vile.. at the outer periphery it is tolerable as you approach the center where the bar is, the smell of sewage gas or raw garbage could be bottled as a nerve agent. The bathrooms were unusable without holding your breath and hoping not to pass out - both mens and womens... The issue I have is with their customer service. My card was charged a different tables bill. We waited for 30 minutes for them to figure out how to solve the issue because we weren't charged the full amount of what we had. I didn't have an issue paying for the rest of what we owed. My issue is that it took them 30 minutes to try and work the issue. My card was eventually ran 3 times and ended up paying an extra $100 over my actual real bill. Never going there again. read more

Great atmosphere and a beautiful view of the whole city. Our server was attentive and very nice. We listened to her recommendations on beer and the Avery (IPA) did not fail. Highly recommend the Scotch Eggs for an appetizer! The Gastropub Burger did not disappoint, although had we read the menu better, we'd have gotten it without the ciabatta bread and opted for a more classic bun. The Mac & cheese w/breaded chicken was almost a miss until the chicken breading flavor kicked in, it totally made up for the lack of seasoning in Mac & cheese, and ultimately tied together well. On both occasions, we noticed that there is the smell of dirty dish towels immediately upon entering. The kitchen is right near the doorway. I'm always turned off when I smell that sewage smell. I wish the food had lived up to the atmosphere! I was excited about the spicy mac n cheese - if they didn't build up the spicy part it would be an excellent mac n cheese. I also dabbled in the fish n chips which was fish in grease. Maybe I'm being a little hard on the place but the staff and locals built it up a little too much. Lack of respectful communication and inappropriate profiling done by the waitress and general manager. We were denied service with zero explanation. We came in to grab some food after a hockey game, we were not being loud, argumentative, and treated the staff with respect. After already placing an order the general manager approached us and said they will not be serving us. We attempted to ask why they came to that decision and no clear explanation was provided. We believe we were profiled inappropriately by the general manager. No one in the group was drunk as it was a Sunday night and we all had work in the morning. I have never been denied service in all my years, the lack of clear communication and lack of respectful exchange we received from the waitress and the general manager made me and my friends feel inappropriately profiled and uncomfortable. Went on a little sight seeing trip to Union Station in downtown Denver. I asked the valet for lunch recommendations and he said Thirsty Lion was a good bet. He was so right. By the way, Thirsty Lion validates parking right in front of Union station. $10. Supert deal for downtown parking. Great service, nice atmosphere, indoor and outdoor seating galore. I started with The Tap Takeover, a sample of six beers for just $10. Each sample is 5 ounces, so it's a killer deal. They have a great beer selection. I didn't know I could have chosen any six beers to sample, so I had six IPAs. I'm not a fan of IPA, and they were all too hoppy for me. Just know you can pick your beers for the Tap Takeover and you'll be delighted. The food was fantastic. All of it. I split the beer battered fish and chips with my dad. They were so cool, they split the plate for us before they served it. Very cool! Also,we had some pulled pork sliders, yes on those. Waldorf chicken salad, another winner, and the rueben sandwich delivered! For desert we had caramel apple cheesecake. I don't even like cheesecake, but I actually enjoyed this and so did the rest of us. While we were dining, Randy, the manager came by our table. Me and my friend came in on New Years Day. They had a sign posted outside for brunch but then it was only available on the weekend so we didn't get to try it. A disappointment because we also got confused about the day since it was a holiday haha. We waited about 5 minutes for a booth and once sat it took quite a while to get waters and even longer for coffee. And the lemons that I asked for for my water took even longer. Besides all that confusion and waiting the food was pretty good. We had the quo's I dip for an appetizer, it was a smaller portion than we expected but tasted great. Next, my friend got her beer cheese soup, she ate 3 crouton out of it and didn't like the soup at all. She said it was definitely a waste of $6. The restaurant is quite large and it looks like they did a good job distancing tables, except the patio looked like the tables were still pretty close. The menu is so eclectic and varied in the types of food offered. We started with drinks, an Old Fashioned for the hubs and a Pear Martini for me. That martini was worth going back for any day! We also enjoyed a warm and delicious pretzel with 3 sauces before dinner. The cheese sauce was a little grainy but the other 2 were so good. The husband had a pizza that looked and smelled so yummy. I had the park carnitas salad bowl and loved it! Such bright and zesty flavors! The pork was tasty and tender. I would order it again! Having enjoyed a few different Thirsty Lions, I am happy to share that they are consistent. We walked in last night with a party of 16 and they were able to accommodate us on the fly. The food was reliable but far from incredible. Our waitress did a decent job of keeping up with us, even though we had a few bloopers and MIA orders that required redoing.
