My favorite were the chicken tenders - they were lightly battered in an IPA. I like the consistency of the product I receive when I visit the Lion. Stopped here after roaming around union station and the mall. $5 mimosas and Bloody Marys Saturday! I was sold! Bloody Mary was great not too spicy. Food was OK other than cold home fries and over cooked poached eggs. Service was awful! Waiter got drink order in, then vanished for at least half an hour before taking our food order. Water glass was cracked and took asking three staff members before it was replaced. On finishing again no waiter. Never checked in during the meal either. It's a chain, they have hh, there is a good sized bar, but it's really just an oversized pub. There can be a wait at time, and honestly it's not really worth it. The patio is nice in the summer, the staff is decent, the bar staff is amazing, other than that... meh... The kale salad is pretty amazing. The other food options are tasty. We stopped in Saturday night and it was a completely different experience Sunday morning!! They are as ready as ever to handle home Denver games with amazing friendly staff like the bartenders Jenna & Kimberly to the manager Kelsey! The food and service here is great! My mom and I were on vacation and we went to this place twice. The pretzel app is a must, you have to try it. I recommend mixing the cheese and the jalapeño relish together then dipping the pretzel. My mom and I also split their fish and chips. So good! After taking the train into Union Station, I popped into Thirsty Lion with hopes of having some great appetizers and beer. I was successful on both counts. The chicken tenders were well-seasoned and were accompanied by great sauces - above average. The Lion, staying true to its namesake, had an array of beer options as well, including a lovely Colorado flight for $12. I left happy and my stomach full and content. My only complaint is that the prices were high, even for a downtown restaurant. The service was average as well, especially for a place that encourages a hefty tip. Worst greeting I have ever received walking into a restaurant! I am visiting from Las Vegas and was looking forward to dinner ! Walked into this restaurant the guy throws the menus on the table and walks off. He comes back I ask him" sir we really don't want to sit by the door it's cold. "He says well this is your table. Actually not sir. Sat myself at another table. Then they brought me dirty glasses to drink out of! Server says " you all want to order when approaching the table. We say no we just sat we need a minute. Never comes back. I saw the two managers just standing there talking to each other and approached them and he didn't seem to think the behavior was weird at all. This is the standard of customer service I guess . No joke. Best burgers I have ever had. We were looking for the mall but headed the wrong way and found this jewel. Had a few amazing local beers and then got really drunk due to the altitude but managed to walk out fine. Okay burgers. The Gastropub burger is their signature burger. Yes it was great. Love the bread and the beef was seasoned beautifully. Fries tasted so fresh it reminds you of in and out fries. We also had fish tacos. Pretty good and packed with flavor. You get 3 corn tortillas double wrapped. Fresh veggies and you can pick from Cod or Shrimp. I love business trips to Denver because of the eats. Im gonna miss this.... Came in for some drinks, so I can't say much about their menu items. The drinks however, were strong and accomplished our goal of getting a little tipsy. I will say, they make an amazing Bloody Mary. I'm Not even a fan of bloody Mary's, but I enjoyed their mixture, it was made with sriracha, but i really couldn't taste it, whatever it is.. it's good. I walked into the restaurant knowing there were restrictions where guests can only dine outside. Fine by me, this is for the safety of everyone and I am more than willing to wait. There was a party of three women sitting in the waiting area inside waiting for their table when we walked in. The hostess put us on the list and walked away. We were sitting in the waiting area, masked up, when about 5 minutes later the hostess saunters back over and tells all of us we have to wait outside because it is against restrictions to be inside. I know it is not at all against restrictions for masked individuals to be inside a business, especially if it is only 5 guests waiting in a spot this large. It was 24 degrees, snowing, and no shelter available, so waiting outside was impossible. It was also 6:30 pm, so nowhere near closing time, but I have a feeling the employees wanted to close early. If they didn't want customers waiting inside the three women would have already been told to leave before we arrived. After being told to wait in the cold, we all left. If it is the owner's wishes for all guests to be waiting outside, better communication should be delivered at the time of guests being placed on the waitlist. If this is not the owner's wishes, your staff should be restrained. read more

The atmosphere was great, food was good except the eggs benedict I ordered did not have enough hollandaise sauce. I'm not going to go here anymore. It looks so inviting with the TVs and beautiful bar it seems so inviting. Problem is every time I've come it was with the hope of watching a game. Requesting to have a tv changed to a different channel is treated like the hardest task ever imagined. Once the tv is finally changed it generally takes even longer to get the bartenders to off to pour a drink. We went to Thirsty Lion after a baseball game. They weren't super busy, but there were a decent number of people in the restaurant. Our waiter was not very attentive. We ran out of water quite a lot and had to continually ask him to bring us more water. They bring a glass milk bottle of water to your table and leave it. That's enough water for me to drink by myself in a single meal. He expected 4 of us to share that throughout the meal - um, no. It was kind of frustrating having to continually ask him to serve us water. Like just go get 3-4 of those milk bottles and leave them on the table, I promise they'll be empty by the time you come back. Needless to say, not super happy with the service. We came during happy hour and they have some really good specials. My husband and I split a couple of happy hour appetizers. Everything we had was really good. Our friends ordered full sized entrees and said they were really good. We ordered a few drinks and everyone liked their drinks, but again, absent waiter and we couldn't order any more drinks. We stopped in here in the late afternoon for a drink and a small snack after some other afternoon events but before a dinner reservation in one of our favorite eateries in Union Station. The place was quiet, but not too quiet, and as people were getting off of work, they came streaming in. Our hostess/server was quite friendly, quick and informative. Just a really nice person to be in this job. Having fun while working, always a good sign. I opted for a cider that I have had before, that I really like, and though often in bottles in smaller places, it was on tap here. It makes a nicer option for me. And they added a slice of fresh fruit to it, a nice touch. My husband had a beer he likes but rarely gets around to buying for home. We shared the warm pretzel with cheddar beer fondue dipping sauce. Just perfect on a cold blustery day and not so much that it would spoil our appetite for our planned dinner. We plan to stop in for more treats or a full meal in the future.
