I've been wanting to try this restaurant chain for over a year now. I saw this place driving or walking around throughout the valley. We had an opportunity to stop in for lunch. It was so different than I expected, (I usually don't research a lot before I go into places, I don't want bias's). [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was shocked it's considered a sports bar. Had an enjoyable time at the Thirsty Lion. This was our first visit to this restaurant, even though we are frequent visitors at San Tan Village. Overall the experience and food were great with just a few areas of critique. I would definitely recommend a visit. Location: Located on towards the east side of the shopping center, you will find ample parking in the adjacent parking lot but if you score some side street parking, you'll be right in front of the restaurant. Price: Prices are average, ranging from $15-$25 per plates and drinks ranging from $8 (beers) -$16 (mixed drinks). Happy Hour: Daily from 3-6. The happy hour menu is actually worth mentioning as they have a good variety and all food items at ~$10 and some discounts on drink items. Food Quality: Based on the Ahi Tuna Bowl and White Queso Dip. The ahi tuna was fresh and was flavorful. The rice was a bit light and the dish is a bit on the spicy side. The white queso dip was extremely thick and would have liked that a bit more creamy. Service: Service was a bit off at the visit but may just have been that day. Our server didn't seem too interested as our drinks were mostly empty during the visit. Additionally, seemed a bit rushed even though the restaurant wasn't busy. read more

Waited forever for food & even when asked to bring out what is ready (had 2 kids starving), the waitress went to clean off old tables & deliver another patron's food EVEN after I complained to manager, who never apologized, thus left us all to STILL wait. Finally stopped back in after a few years for weekend brunch. Our server was on point, but the food was 50/50. We were going to split two sandwiches, and the 1st one we asked for was out. The ruben was not available that day. Super bummer. We grabbed a french dip and the green chile chicken & avacado. The French dip was a complete fail. For starters the sandwich was tiny! The meat was absolutely gross, and the cheese was off as well. Then to top it off, my fries were cold. All around a 100% fail. Now for the other sandwich. Complete homerun! It was bomb! Stopped in last night with my family . The lion lemonade (adult beverage) was amazing. The hibiscus drink wasn't my cup of tea. We did both vegetarian the bacon wrapped shrimp- great, the California rolls-okay - I'm not a huge fan of the crab salad version I prefer the solid piece of crab in the rolls - and the pear gorgonzola flatbread, which was wonderful. Great experience, walk in get greeted by front reception, seated shortly after, was nice didn't have to wait. Several different options on the menu to choose from American to some sushi..remembered to take some photos this time. It was my bday dinner celebration with just 8 of us. The server was very helpful and on top of anything we needed. Started with a Jalepino margarita and some cheese curds to share. The cheese curds was served with 2 different sauces each very different and great in their own way, one was a Jalepino relish, which was new to me served with cheese curds.. and I loved it! The other was a chipotle ranch which was also very good. For my main I did the gastro burger, always my go to and side fries, fries are really great and the burger is top notch! Guess my fam told them it was my bday, so server brought over a sweet treat to finish the night, it was big enough to share, it was two warm cookies served with ice cream and chocolate and caramel syrup. Went there yesterday to celebrate my son-in-law's birthday. Had a table of 10. service was poor at best. The food came out late and cold for quite a few of us at least quite a few of us. Mine was by inedible. I ordered the gochujang barbecued pork. The pork was extremely overcooked. There was an egg on top that didn't even resemble an egg and the rice was cold. It was terrible. There were some long gaps in checking to see if we needed drink refills, how is the food, etc. When the server stopped by she was very pleasant. There's a decent selection of beer and drinks. We had the spicy fried cauliflower to start, which was very enjoyable. It wasn't overly spicy but had a decent amount of kick. I had the Gochujang BBQ Pork & Kimchi Fried Rice for my entree. It definitely had some kick but wasn't over powering. The flavors throughout the dish were well balanced. It was very good, I just needed some more water which took a little while to get brought to the table. I'm happy we stopped here. We come to the San Tan or Chandler mall locations often for appetizers and drinks. The last few times we've been to this location at the San Tan mall, our experience with the hostess's (2 brunette females) have been very off putting! We always ask for a booth and we don't mind waiting longer to be seated if none are available at the moment. For some reason this request is a burden for the 2 hostess at this location and they make it very apparent with eye rolling and facial grimacing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When taking us to our booth, my husband noticed that the seat had some food, and sauce splatter on it which he pointed out to the hostess.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] (We understand mistakes happen and the busser probably didn't notice the mess, no big deal ) We just asked the hostess if the spill could be wiped down, ..the hostess was now visibly annoyed and didn't respond, she just walked away, grabbed a towel and wiped the seat, missing most of the area where the mess was. She then put our menus on the table and walked away. Me and my husband looked at each other perplexed, Like WOW! Once our server Chris S. greeted us we asked for a napkin and we just cleaned the seat ourselves. Our server Chris S. was very pleasant and made great recommendations. We have actually had him as our server before and he's great! My husband said the steak was okay but it wasn't a cut for it to be a ribeye. Our desserts I had the whiskey apple crumble burnt around the edges. My husband had the lava cake it was a little dry. I entered this restaurant with fairly high hopes after checking the menu and photos on yelp but the service was subpar and the food portions were not reflective of the price. Oh how I miss their Scottish eggs! They have a great beer selection and rotating menu of seasonal items. The spicy pasta is my husband's go to and portions are a decent size. Happy hour is a great deal, when offered, but service could be better. The parking situation is super rough, but this is a great spot while you are out and about! read more

My book club meets at this restaurant. The wait staff is always super kind and accomodating. I usually order a glass of wine, the list here of by-the-glass is small but with some quality selections. They have a happy hour menu. Several members of my club love the tacos and the sushi rolls. I like to order from the seasonal menu, thereby insuring that I can always try something new alongside that month's book selection. There is tons of parking. Reservations are accepted (a must have for a large group), they are usually not necessary if you are a small party, the place is huge. The outdoor seating is nice in the cooler weather. read more

Came to this location after the movies on Friday night - just wanted a couple apps and some drinks. We were seated inside immediately, it was pretty empty although strangely loud. Our server was nice; we ordered the hot honey pepperoni and sausage flatbread, a crunch roll, and the meatballs. Also, the Freakshow Cabernet. The pizza was just okay; lacking the hot honey I was looking for. The meatballs are Greek - they were fine. My husband liked the rolls, the wine was also just okay - definitely not a $15.5 glass of wine - the bottle itself costs that much at Target so making quite the markup on that. A few friends and I stopped by for a quick bite before catching a movie at Harkins. Right off the bat, the manager, who was super polite, greeted us at the door and made sure we were seated right away. Props for efficiency! Our server showed up all bubbly and friendly, immediately taking our drink orders while we stared at the menu like it was a tough life decision. There were so many good options! After much internal debate, I went with the Rueben with fries, but I couldn't resist ordering the Traditional Scotch Eggs as an appetizer. I mean, who wouldn't be intrigued by something a Scottish friend raved about? When the Scotch Eggs showed up, they looked amazing - two eggs, sliced up and served with a side of course-ground brown mustard. I tried one without mustard, and it was delicious. Then I dipped it in mustard... and boom, flavor explosion! Seriously, what kind of magic is this mustard doing?! Not long after, our mains arrived. The Rueben was a solid choice - everything balanced perfectly, no soggy bread in sight (thankfully). But the fries? Ehh... not my favorite. They had this weird sweetness, which made me think that Yukon Gold potatoes were involved. Next time, I'll probably skip 'em and save room for more Scotch Eggs. We have not eaten here since about 2019 and decided to stop by for lunch since we were out and about. The service was excellent. My husband had the Brussels sprouts, quinoa & roasted chicken salad and I had the Grilled burger sliders which were very good. For drinks, he had the beer flight, and I tried the Blood orange margarita. The margarita was outstanding! The restaurant is very well kept and clean, and I love the ambience of it. This was my first time coming here as my colleagues organized a get together and lots of laughter entailed when I said I have never had a Shepherd's pie before. The restaurant has a special menu for St Patrick's day right now so when I saw that I thought I might try it with my colleagues encouragement. To my surprise they also went and ordered the same!Despite our laughter throughout this experience, I'd say I was able to eat some of it but I don't think this is something I will ever want to eat again unless I had too. It had a comforting feeling kind of meal and came served on a cast iron round pan, pretty service, a nice one-time experience for me. My iced tea was great! Ran in here for some quick appetizers before a movie. It was quite empty for a Thursday night, but well lit and inviting. Ordered some fries, spinach dip and Caprese flatbread. The fries were fresh and came with ketchup and aioli sauce. The Caprese was tasty and actually had a peppery kick! The spinach artichoke dip was not well made, unfortunately, and the chips were also stale. We politely stacked it in the corner of our table and our waitress, Hannah, took it off the bill without saying anything or making a big deal. Her customer service actually yields the 5 star review as it's so rare to have exceptional service in AZ. She was so friendly and accommodating. Had brownie dessert, tasted like soap-seriously, something wrong with it. Still have soap taste in mouth 24 hrs. Later... considering going to doctor.
