Ambiance 4 STARS very nice atmosphere. Service 4 STARS staff were nice and pleasant Waitress had good customer service skills. Drinks 3 STARS the happy hour drinks were just ok. I ordered a pear martini off the regular menu and enjoyed it. It was uniquely different. Food 3 STARS everything tasted average. The nachos were plentiful. The salmon cake was ok average. Tacos had a good presentation. Overall nothing was great. No wow factor or no exciting flavors and seasoning. The food was somewhat disappointing. Attended for a friend's birthday party. Food was absolutely horrible. Too salty, uncooked. Had to send my appetizers, yes plural, back as well as my entrée. The drinks were skimpy on the alcohol. The service was an absolutely disaster. Waiting 15 to 20 mins for drinks. Waitress,who was not new on the job because I asked, did not know the menu or specials. She didn't even know what was on the happy hour menu. And was rude about it too. Maybe the one in Dallas is better but this one in The Colony SUCKS!!!! read more

This place was pretty good. I'm in town for work this week and we had a pre-planned dinner at Thirsty Lion last night. About 25 of us. Had a buffet style dinner with Cesar salad, burgers, spicy chicken patties, and veggie patties, mac n cheese, and house made potato chips. The food was decent but not great. I'm sure the buffet style setup contributed to some of the quality. Spicy chicken was good but the burger was a little tough since it likely sat in a warmer. The bar staff and wait staff were excellent. Very attentive and professional. The vibe was cool in the main dining/bar area downstairs and was very open upstairs where we actually ate. I'd love to sit down at a table and try some of the food I saw coming out of the kitchen next time I'm around. read more

3.5. A chain - and I've been to another Thirsty Lion location and my experience was also 'ok.' They have a seasonal menu. I was surprised to see that they had ramen... the menu literally has everything. Asian fusion, burgers etc. It's a wide menu but tbh not much stood out to me. I would try the korean fried rice next time.. Weekday night was busy enough. Calamari was standard - a lot of breading imo. Cauliflower bites w/ orange sauce was good but mainly due to it being drowned in sauce (lol). Drinks tasted good. Ordered the halibut (~$35, panko crusted), cilantro rice, veggies. The panko crusted was light which I liked. The rice was tasty. the issue was... the center of my halibut was cold!! And it was the last dish to come. I didn't bring it up... and I didn't get sick the next day, but this is a miss for sure. Overall, I think most people would enjoy it! Not somewhere I'd be dying to go back to though. read more

Thirsty Lion is a chain, and I am glad to have the opportunity to come to this one. I have eaten at several on my many travels. I appreciate the consistency of this location. We had several selections from the standard menu and the summer special menu and were pleased with them, including both the cocktails and non-alcoholic offerings which were creative. The service was courteous and professional. They even offered us to pick our own table! I am a fan of their mac n cheese. While they do not have any vegan options, I am happy they have a consistent non-meat fan fave. Fair warning, their plates are humongous. We do go in for plate splitting here. read more

Met a friend for brunch and everything was fantastic. Edith provided exceptional service, even though we were catching up and took longer than normal to order. We both had espresso martini's and they were top notch, one of best I've had recently. My avocado toast w eggs was even better tasting than it looked. Had slight sprinkle of red pepper flakes to amp up the taste. My friend had the southern spicy chicken Benedict and raved about it too. I came here for a book club meet up. Over all, ok experience. Our server was over all responsive and helpful with menu questions. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich lettuce wrapped. I did appreciate that they were able to do that but the lettuce was wilted so I ended up taking it off. Chicken itself was bland in my opinion and fries were soggy. Our kids took us to the Thirsty Lion for dinner while we were visiting them! The table enjoyed the calamari as an appetizer. My hubby got a flatbread while my son got the French dip and they both said the food was good. I had the salmon with double vegetables and it was delicious! It had a lemon butter on it and was so flaky! It is definitely a hopping place even on a week night. The service was great! We've been here a couple times and the menu has many items to keep you coming back. Kitchen hasn't been consistent on temperature of the burgers. I order it medium rare everytime and it could be perfect one day then medium well the next time but taste is always good. The patio on a spring day or evening after the sun goes down is fantastic. Hostess we have had each time is a little frumpy unfortunately but waitstaff has been extremely friendly and helpful. I would love to see some live music on the granscape location patio. read more

We were looking for somewhere to go that had a nice outside as we plan for the evils and cold of the impending winter. We decided to go back to the Lion for a second visit to try the upper outside balcony even though I'm not a huge fan of how busy Grandscapes can be and was as usual. Parking was very full and decided to take advantage of the free valet parking in front of the restaurant. They give you a virtual tag for your keys and you can even use it to call your car up to the front when you are ready to go. When we walked in the down stairs dining room was very full but asked to sit outside up stairs and they sent us up the stairs to visit the hostess in that section and got an immediate seat outside on the railing with a great evening view. You are right above the merge lanes on the street so lots of action to watch near accidents and driver indecision with some angry honking. Free entertainment is always great. So the good news if they look busy go upstairs!! I was going to try most items from the limited time summer menu. I started with their fresh juice iced tea and went with the blood Orange and ginger. It was very good. The ginger took away from the sweet of the orange juice and worked well. I wanted to get the cedar plank salmon but they were out of the cedar planks so i had to pivot to the orange chicken. They chicken is noted as a tempura better. The orange sauce was very sweet but had a little spice but thought it was very tasty and well done and would recommend it. It came with white rice and an Asian style bean and carrot and pepper salad. To finish the meal decided to try the peach cobbler from the summer menu. It tasted very fresh and was a solid cobbler. It was a great dining experience and would recommend. read more

Took the family here for a Friday night dinner. Our waiter was outstanding; however, the food was a C- maybe D+. Let me explain. Our appetizer was the spinach dip which was just standard. My wife and I split the $44 ribeye steak. It was cooked to medium which can be perceived as dry but It was not easy to slice (grissly). My daughter ordered a wagyu burger and it was not bad but not great either. My son ordered the orange chicken. It was served slightly cool and not really that great. I guess that's my main complaint. Everything was really average and after tipping for great service the bill was north of $155 and our table only had 2 beers. I do want to reiterate how good the waiter was at taking care of us. He had good timing and I watched him immediately pick up his area's food as it was placed on the service line. He did not waste time. Cool vibe inside and outside dining, which was cool. We ordered our food, Asian meal for my daughter, which she loved. I was able to get a taste and it was very good.. something I'd get next time. Food: We started with the cauliflower appetizer- good flavors, I thought it was salty and could have been crispier- a little but raw on the inside.
