Fly By Night Cattle Company Steakhouse - Country atmosphere and great food

Amazing as always…read more This review is for the last 2 times we ate here. On December 5th, Earl was our server. On January 16th, Teresa was our server. To start, the service here, every single time has been outstanding. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. We've had their Beef Filet, Beef Ribeye entrees as well as their Chicken Fried Tenderloin entrees. Each time, the food has been cooked perfectly - 3 times out of 3. And the sides - oh my, so good. We've had dessert one time - their Banana Pudding. Very good. While Fly by Night is a bit off the beaten path, it's worth the drive. And while we're moving away from the area, we'll still make the trip back here.

It was incredibly tender, with just the right amount of marbling to make each bite indulgent. On the side I had the whipped mashed potatoes. They were creamy and buttery, a perfect complement to the steak. My in-laws ordered Calf Fries and they were also good, just a little salty in my opinion. Nonetheless, they were good and my first time eating them... if you know, you know! The atmosphere added to the meal's enjoyment. The rustic ranch setting, with a big window view of the pasture. Unfortunately, there were no livestock out to add to the fun. The staff were friendly and attentive, making sure everything was just right. Our waitress was awesome. Theresa was on top of things. This is a spot I'd happily return to, not just for the steak but for the warm ambiance and excellent service. Highly recommend taking the time to visit this Texas eatery if you're anywhere near Cleburne! My in-laws had been here months prior and it was cool to see how their waiter that served them approached them and carried a conversation with them. I love this place.

The salad bar is HUGE and has so many options--but don't fill up because it's very easy to do! If you're gluten-free, definitely ask. They were really good about letting me know what I could have. And the little "muffin bread" is actually cheesy bread and gluten-free, which was a nice surprise. The filet mignon was by far my favorite of the meats. The chicken was okay, but some pieces were a little dry. With the steaks, I learned it's worth waiting for the cut you actually want rather than just taking what comes by. Definitely get the sauces from the salad bar--they make a huge difference! The service was the only slightly odd part. So many different people came by our table that I wasn't really sure who our actual server was. Everyone was helpful, though, and overall we had a really good time.

Our server was also wonderful and provided great service throughout our meal. Unfortunately, our experience took a turn when another server was clearing plates from a nearby table. She had too much dip on her chip, dropped a plate right in front of our table, and it sounded like it shattered. Mashed potatoes ended up all over my boyfriend and even in my hair. To make matters worse, some of the servers were laughing afterward, which was incredibly upsetting given the situation. Accidents happen, and I understand that, but laughing while customers are covered in food is unprofessional and made an already embarrassing moment even worse.

Amazing meal! We've…read moreeaten at Meehan's 3 times before but it's been nearly a year since the last time. Tonight, we celebrated our 31st Wedding Anniversary there by having a very nice meal. On this Wednesday evening, they were filling up fast. We asked to be seated in a quieter part of the restaurant. We were seated near the door that goes out to the enclosed back patio area. It was perfect for us. Our server, William was out quickly to greet us. Others came by at the same time to fill our water glasses and leave some warm bread and salted butter. William congratulated us on our anniversary. My wife must have mentioned it when she made the reservation. William was very familiar with the menu as well as the wines. And he presented the options very well. You could tell he's a veteran server used to working with Meehan level clientele. We started with cocktails. My wife had a Cosmopolitan and I had the Butter Pecan Old Fashioned. It was real nice. About 15 minutes later, we were ready for William to take our order. We share the following: - 10 oz Beef Filet Mignon, medium rare, Au Poivre style - kitchen split - Wedge Salad with Blue Cheese Dressing and lots of crumbles - kitchen split - Baked Potato with Butter, Sour Cream and Chives - kitchen split - Brussels Sprouts - Complimentary slice of Raspberry Cheesecake - thanks Meehan's! - Slice of Carrot Cake to go With dinner, we each had a glass of Camus Suisan Walking Fool red blend Everything tonight was perfect. The ambiance of the restaurant, the table staff, the waiters, the kitchen, the food - wow, all so great. We'll be back. In fact, we're already working on brining a party of 7 to Meehan's in a few weeks.

The interior is elegant, warm, and inviting, and honestly, Meehan's gets an 11 out of 10 for the design alone. I originally came in for a steak, but the roasted New Zealand rack of lamb with pistachio mint pesto caught my eye instantly on the menu. The presentation was top notch, and the mint pesto was divine. The lamb was cooked perfectly medium rare, and the quality was outstanding. Without question, it was the best lamb I've had anywhere in the DFW area. Our server was Johnny on the spot the entire night and easily one of the best servers we've had all year. I highly recommend Meehan's Chophouse for a special night out. This is the kind of place that can turn a regular dinner into one of those meals you'll be talking about for years.

As soon as you walk in, the atmosphere feels upscale and welcoming. The greeter promptly took care of us and got us seated without any delay. Our server was exceptional--she clearly explained how the dining experience works, stayed attentive throughout the night, and made sure our drinks were always full. The service was seamless, and the food matched it. The sides came out quickly, and the variety of meats--especially the lamb and sausages--were absolutely delicious. Every cut we tried was flavorful and cooked perfectly. Overall, this place delivered on both service and quality. Easily a 10/10 experience. Highly recommend for a special occasion.

The mushroom risotto & lobster bisque are some of my favorites, with the bisque having a kick to it. Meat Selection - I'll be honest it was all good, picanha was delicious. Their bacon wrapped sirloin was my #1. Dessert - we had the lava cake & walnut cream. The walnut cream was something different & I recommend you try it, almost a butterscotch/toffee taste with fresh strawberries on the bottom. Service was excellent, Nelson was our main guy & he did a great job. Very attentive, all of the staff was truly wonderful. Easy to make reservations online, we got there a bit early & they seated us right away. Nice ambiance & lots of space to walk between tables/salad bar area. Clean establishment & pricing is very fair.

We ordered a lot of food lol We had a 6 mile hike so we were hungry!! Anywho, we ordered the shrimp for our appetizers. We each got one. It was good. That's one thing I was craving. I enjoyed my meal but I felt the corn wasn't that sweet and the mashed potatoes weren't that creamy but I still ate them. The only thing that kinda threw us off was the waitress asked if we were ready to order and we said yes. Then walked away lol ehh not a big deal but everything was good and not many complaints. She took our drink order and came back immediately with them. We order an appetizer and the 19oz steak, and an order of 12 grilled shrimp with rice. Sweet potatoes all around and side salads. The salads and appetizer of fried pickles came out. The fried pickles were piping hot and with a side of house made ranch dressing! Yum! The salads were so fresh and crisp... croutons, grape tomatoes, eggs. It was a wonderful salad! I think next time I'll get a bigger one! The steak came out perfect temp and exactly Medium Rare. The grilled shrimp also came out well! Perfect temperature and color! The rice was piping hot. The sweet potatoes were also great! My friend also tried the strawberry margarita and said it was delish! I was driving, so only ice tea for me! Emily was on point bringing us refills and didn't bat an eye, when we stopped her for a water and artificial sweetener.... She brought it promptly. The table we sat at was a booth and chair combo. The company that I was with sat in the chairs, they did complain that the chairs were a little low to the table and they sat really hard.... Padding on the seats would have been preferred. I sat on the bench, which was comfortable since it was padded. The manager, Bree, made an appearance at our table and greeted us, asking about our experience. This was a really nice touch. Now let me say one thing, if you are looking for a quiet dinner, this place is not for you. This is what I consider a Family restaurant, children and loud noise from everywhere. Not my favorite kind of place to eat, but the quality of the food made up for the racket. Also, if you have a peanut allergy, get your food to go. There are bags of peanuts on every table. I DID smell peanuts while there. I have an allergy but can take the smell in small doses. It didn't last but for those with severe sensitivity, beware. Would I eat here again? Definitely! But I think I will go when most people are at work.

No refunds issued even if the person dies…read more I booked this venue for my mother's 80th birthday party for 2/2023, unfortunately we lost my mother unexpectedly on 5/1/2022. I reached out to get a full refund...to now use this money towards her headstone... but all I got was a lack of empathy! They are not understanding at all, my heart is broken, my mom is gone and all they care about is a contract. Contracts can be amended....if you choose to do the right thing...as this was out of our control. They chose to stick to their guns and look the other way. I had already paid $921 towards her party....after several weeks I received a partial refund of $361...I really don't understand why a full refund could not have been issued, as they still have 9 months to rent their venue out. This venue is nice.....but I would think twice about renting this place out....because you will not be refunded if one of your loved ones...are to die or have an accident. No empathy, no understanding, and no heart.

Any time I leave a 3-star review, feel the need to point out that Yelp defines 3 stars as "A-OK.",…read moreand that's exactly what I thought this event space was, A-OK. I was here for a wedding, as a guest. Despite being an odd location, and a bit of a drive, I liked the adventure aspect. As we pulled up, we could not help but to wonder what is inside this rather non-descript building. Inside we found a large seating area, a stage, a bar, and doors to more rooms. One room was additional seating, that lead to a small outdoor area. This is were the ceremony was, and except from the sound of race car motors (I was told there is a racetrack nearby, in fact there are two - Texas Raceway & Kennedale Speedway Park), it was rather pretty. After the ceremony we returned inside, where I had the chance to wander a bit. I should have taken more pictures. The pinball machines, on the walls was interesting. The Airstream trailer being used as a stage was quite clever. There was another large red truck against one wall. Not sure what it was used for, and I forgot to take a closer look. There was also a pool table, maybe two, which many guests took advantage of. The line at the (cash) bar got quite long at times, and it actually deterred me from getting a drink. I only saw one bartender at the bar, so I stuck to the self-serve iced tea. Being a cash bar (i.e. not open), I would have thought it would have been staffed better. When prompted, we lined up for food, and were served. I thought the servers did a good job and gave off a friendly vibe. I'm assuming the food was catered, in-house, by Red's, and so your experience may differ based on the menu. I thought for what it was, chicken and beef tacos, with beans and rice, it was a little sub-par. Not horrible, just not all that great (for being in Texas). Also, the re-fried beans seem to have been a little scorched, leaving a slightly funky flavor. Apparently, in the past, Red's used to be a full time restaurant and bar. I think they lost their touch, or maybe never had it. I would seriously consider other food options, or perhaps have it catered from outside. It would be worth the extra fee. So, as a funky Texas event space, A-OK. Bottom line: Good choice if you are looking for a road-house feel for your special event.
