Tried to get me to fix a 25 year old vehicle for grands. I have to say they were very nice on the phone and when I got there the lady was extremely nice. However I did not appreciate being barked at by one of the mechanics about some sort of break situation, some pad thing that he was yelling at I have no idea. I wasn't happy with the quote for all of the work that needed to be done. I actually ended up taking it to another shop that spent about $400 to unwork on the caliper and make sure everything was done. They checked all my brakes and transmission and everything. In his opinion it didn't need that much work for it to be a functional vehicle for the next 6 months. So mixed reviews because I really did like the lady she was so helpful. And I thought that it was going to be a good shop for me to go to. However the cost for me was just too great for the age of the vehicle. So unfortunately I did have to take the vehicle home. I don't know how their work is because I did not get any work there, but they have great reviews for their work. Was just too expensive of a shop for what I needed done. If I had a newer vehicle and I wanted to put the money into it I would definitely go back again The customer service of the lady was wonderful. I had my car towed here after speaking with Matt over the phone, who originally made it sound like there was space and that my car would be looked at in a reasonable amount of time. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. It took four weeks before they even looked at the car, and another four weeks before I finally got it back. When I mentioned towing it out due to the delay, I soon after got a call saying they had looked at the car and they found all the parts they'd need, and that other shops would take just as long getting them delivered. Wanting to move things forward, I left my car there, but the same cycle continued: every time I called, I was told "tomorrow" or "by the end of the week." Even my insurance agent got fed up and stopped by in person because the communication was poor. Since my car had been broken into, not all of the damage was found the first time. Because of insurance ties, I brought the car back again... only to deal with more frustration. I was told my car was "ready" for me to pickup while we waited on a part, but when I arrived, I waited 25 minutes while they scrambled to find my keys. One again, disrespectful of my time. Apparently they had about four other broken into cars brought into the shop around the same time which of course contributed to the delays. Overall, I handled this experience with a lot of patience and I unfortunately learned the hard way. So if anything, do your research. read more

I got some terrible work done at this shop, but at least it was also really expensive. I originally brought my car in for general maintenance and to deal with lit TPMS and Check Engine lights. They charged me $3,000 then did a really sloppy job. They misaligned my steering wheel after doing work on the suspension, drained my 12v battery so much I had to get it jumped and a replacement swapped in, and removed the battery cover without replacing it or telling me. Just a few weeks after Jeff's serviced it, my car broke down in the middle of the road. For some reason, their recommended tow company is based 20 miles away in Renton, so towing 7 miles to Jeff's cost me $355. There's a tow company less than a mile from their shop that would have charged $185 for the same distance, but joke's on me for trusting Jeff's! They quoted me $1,500 to get the car running again, but another shop a few miles away only charged $500 for the same repair. Now it's been two months since the original work, and both my TPMS and Check Engine lights are back on with the same error codes I just paid Jeff's to fix. I could use the warranty, but why would I pay them another $200 to misdiagnose the problem and attach a different part of my car wrong? As a new resident of WA I had to get new plates for my car. The problem: couldn't my get the old ones off! Called Jeff's, they told me to come down and handled the problem. Stay away at all costs! Please read to save yourself time, frustration, and money! We brought my daughters Subaru to Jeff's for a water pump/timing belt. Simple job. They put a hole through the block and damaged the engine. It gets worse! They took responsibility and replaced the motor with a trash motor from another car. Several weeks of waiting. After a few months the valve covers they just put on started to leak and the car started to over heat. I chased my tail for a couple weeks working on it replacing sensors and thermostats to no avail. We took it to Greg's Japanese Auto (Highly recommend!) and they diagnosed the car to have head gasket failure. Same head gaskets that were installed when they put the new block in. Another trip to Seattle, showed them the report from Greg's and they took responsibility and said they would replace the head gaskets. Another couple weeks of no car for my daughter. We went to pick it up and every warning light, check engine light, etc was illuminated on the dash. My daughter was in tears! We left the car and Jeff told us the codes were from the transmission and NOT the motor he just worked on. These codes never existed before another half-assed session of poor workmanship. We would have to pay him to work on the transmission. I brought the car home and took it back to Greg's to have it diagnosed again. They concurred that the transmission was an issue and would need to be replaced but they also checked the work on the head gaskets and block. They said the coolant was still testing for hydrocarbons which means the head gaskets are still bad or the block was cracked. We need a new transmission and a new engine! The car is a total loss because they couldn't do a simple water pump correctly and compounded the problem by not being competent mechanics. Please do not use this shop. read more

If it was possible to give a negative rating, I definitely would!! I paid for a transmission service and an oil change for my Infiniti QX30, which WAS running perfectly fine. Afterwards, it began running roughly, had jerky shifting, etc, so I called back several days later to request a copy of the invoice for the transmission fluid that they'd had to order, so that I could confirm that the correct type had been used. I was rudely TOLD that the right type had been used. During my next oil change, at a differt shop, several minutes after I arrived, the mechanic and shop owner showed me, took pictures and videos of them finding that oil was leaking, because of an improper oil change...and when I described the issues that I'd been experiencing since the supposed transmission service, they immediately knew what had happened. I had to pay for another transmission service, during which they showed that the fluid was only at half the level that it should be and was filthy. They made a point ofnnoting that they could not guarantee that the transmission would work properly, because of what the previous shop [Jeff's Auto] had done. Several months later...and guess what? The transmission needs to be replaced...over $8,000.​ Called and spoken to Jerry, the manager. Hung up on me when I asked for his last name. I called back...he refused to give me the District Manager's name!! No choice but to file a lawsuit!!.and continue paying for a rental car until this is resolved. Took my car into have it looked at. They seemed nice enough over the phone however after dropping my car off Monday. No call, so I checked in they said they needed more time. Drove by later that day car hadnt moved. Then came Tuesday, no call so I check in again. Had Matt and Steve trading my call and I needed to repeat the background several times for each person despite talking to both of them previously. "We need more time" again and then excuses for the delay and when I called them out out on why this why this delay wasn't brought up nothing but bs. Don't go here. I've never written a negative review on a local business before as a local business owner myself, but they left me with no choice unfortunately. I decided to take my BMW to Jeff's to save some money instead of going to the dealership. I dropped it off on a Wednesday and on Friday I called and asked for an update. I was told it needed a new battery and it would cost $500. I called on Tuesday asking for an update and never got a call back. On Wednesday I was able to get ahold of Matt who was surprised no one called me. He went out to the car and said, well it turns on it must be fine, come pick it up. I then went to get it the next morning and my bill came to $900 for a battery change. I was very confused and Matt said he could knock a $100 off and blamed the lack of communication on them being busy. I immediately called BMW and asked them how much it would be and they said $550-600. I then called Matt back to say this isn't ok and he said he would call me this week. It's Friday and clearly that never happened. I'm extremely disappointed in all aspects of how they treated me. Ironically as I told my neighbors about this, they have all had similar experiences, so it was not just me. You go to your neighborhood shop to save some money and get good service, not get ripped off. read more

Please reconsider taking your car here if you have the choice.  This was not my first time taking my car here but it will definitely be my last time! To summarize, they were not willing to put in the time and effort to diagnose my car but rather just made a guess of what the problem might be and wanted to charge me over $1000 to replace a fuel pump! Let me tell you, the fuel pump was NOT the issue.  I am glad I decided to take my car back home and dodge the bullet! It turns out to be an easy fix, just a wire issue. If they actually took the time to take a look, they would have known where the problem was.  I've had bad experiences in the past with Jeff auto quoting me twice the cost that somewhere else was able to do the work for half the cost. However, this time was by far the worst experience and I want to put my experience out there so others can be aware and choose wisely.  Just to provide some context: I have been having issues with my car (no cranks, but does not start). Initially I thought it was a starter issue and had that replaced myself. That did not resolve the issue so I got my battery replaced and had my alternator checked and still my car would not turn on.  I then cleaned off the battery terminals. Still no luck. Then I bridged the connections between the battery and the terminals with jumper cables. Then it started to crank but this time still not starting. With no options left, I decided to have my car towed to Jeff Auto so that someone can take a look and give me a diagnosis. Jeff auto did not take the time to find the source of the problem and immediately defaulted the issue to being the fuel pump. They were not 100% sure that this was where the issue originated from but they still wanted to charge me over $1000  and SEE if this will work. When questioned what happens if it doesn't, they did not want to talk about it, nor were they going to take accountability for the misdiagnosis and reimburse me for the cost.  Instead of finding the root cause of my problems, they simply made a guess of what the problem might be and were going to charge me an arm and a leg for something that could potentially not have been the problem. As a mechanic, honesty and transparency is what I value and Jeff Auto did not deliver that.  I have raised my concerns multiple times to the mechanic and the manager and my concerns were not heard nor were they addressed. Instead, I was met back with the comment of what I do for a living and them making a comparison as a mechanic to my job as a healthcare professional. First of all, as a healthcare worker I will never make an educated guess of what a patient's diagnosis was without having to run different tests to confirm my findings. To do so is just negligence! As a healthcare professional, I am transparent with my patients and I tell them what we are doing and what they can expect!  I decided to take my car home and against their recommendation to change the fuel pump. They charged me for a diagnosis but there was no transparency with what they diagnosed and what they identified the issue to be, but rather it MIGHT be a fuel pump issue. One thing they did was change a battery terminal free of charge, which I greatly appreciate. After all that, it turns out  NOT to be a fuel pump issue. It was just a loose wire that needed to be reconnected. I reconnected the wires and my car is now up and running. I hope Jeff's Auto  can learn from my experience and reflect on their practice to provide more transparency and honesty to their customers. read more

I took my car in for a synthetic oil change with filter for special price of $49.95 coupon. I even brought in my own oil filter because Brandon could not give me a quote till the vehicle is service. In the end I had to pay $102 I have no idea why. They use my own oil filter. The receipt clearly stated the extra part is only $9.99 which must be the extra oil please see the attached. Brandon said the coupon and filter discount are already factor in for final price of $102. Their practice is not transparent because the receipt clearly does not state that. They charged me $92 for the oil change rather than the coupon $49.95. read more

In my opinion, this isn't the place to take your car. Read the other 1-star reviews and ask yourself: With this many bad reviews, why take a chance? Why would someone leave bad reviews unless they really receive terrible service? JEff's may want you to believe these are just disgruntled car owners. But this many negatives should give you a heads-up: I've paid moderate to high prices at other shops, Salmon's for example-- but I've never questioned their integrity. At Jeff's, different story. I told them, it's either the battery or the alternator but I"m pretty sure it's the alternator. I'm still charged $79 for a diagnosis, even though Brandon told me (and I asked carefully when I brought it in), that they would not charge for the diagnosis. (Last time I paid for a diagnosis, in 2021, Jeff's failed to discover that I needed a new starter, which went out shortly after their "diagnosis.") IT COST $725 TO INSTALL THE ALTERNATOR. The labor cost alone was $175! He charged me $375 for the part! Mind boggling. It takes an hour to install an alternator? Maybe double what most places would charge. Then Brandon (who is actually a customer-service manager!) gets nasty: "well if you're going to have a bad attitude about it, etc." But I wasn't surprised; I knew from other reviews that he gets rude, especially with women, and it didn't bother me or intimidate me in the least. I said go ahead and fix it, because I didn't want to drive my car with the chance it could break down by the side of the road. I feel very ripped off. But ultimately, Jeff's Auto Repair is the loser in this transaction. I will NEVER go there again. So he is losing money from the repeat business he doesn't earn. Do yourself a big favor. I've been taking my 2005 Honda Accord to Jeff's automotive in Lynnwood for a couple of years now for general upkeep oil changes I had to check engine light come on just various things they've always been polite and accurate with their findings always had a job well done at lower than market prices that are being charged I've asked for estimates for things. And was told that actually isn't necessary right now you might want to focus more on your tires versus a repair on a control arm which I really appreciated. They know I don't make a lot of money so they're very let's just say they don't try to persuade me into getting something that isn't necessary right now and I appreciate that about them. read more

BEWARE, question everything cost wise with this shop! Very unethical. We took a company truck in for a simple window fix, the switch was bad. To remove and replace this window switch takes about 5 minutes and the cost of the part ranges from $70 (non oem) to $260 from the Nissan dealership. Steve calls us to let us know the repair would be $950+ after tax. He explained the process in such a way to deliberately confuse our guy and make it sound like this process was extremely complicated. Our guy not being familiar with auto repair okay'd the repair, this was our fault we admit but this cost to repair was beyond outrageous. After the rest of us in the office heard what the cost was on that window switch we decided we'd better give Steve a call to find out why. Steve attempted the same "confuse" tactics with me on the phone with talk of "computer modules" "specialty diagnostic equipment" etc. We are talking about a simple window switch here, very basic part. I asked Steve how much the labor was and he began to get agitated. I asked what the part cost was and he told me the cost was "very alarming!" and the switch was $650. (he didnt know I had already priced the part multiple places @ $70, exact VIN # match) After complaining without hesitation he dropped the final cost from $950 to $700, which is very odd he can do that so easily. Long story short we had them remove the "alarmingly" expensive switch and give us the truck back, he admitted to his cost for the part being around $260... I didnt understand why he felt the need to crank the price of that tiny little window switch up to $650, charge us $180 for diagnostic labor, plus another $80 fee he had on the invoice. He handed his technician the old switch to put back in, in less than 3 minutes the old switch was swapped back and the truck was out front.. that is how long this supposed $950 repair takes. The difficulty is similar to replacing a brake light bulb. Nice try Jeffs, you almost had us for $950. We had a list of other repairs to get done on a number of our trucks, youll never see our business again. I cant imagine how many people come into this shop on a daily basis and just fork over their credit card without questioning, thinking about this really bothers me. I reported them to AAA. read more

I'm very frustrated and disappointed in this company. After spending almost $9,000.00, and two Transmissions later. My Car is still not fixed.. I had taken it back to have them look at it, (this is the second tranny that they have put in). Steve at the desk said it was my Transmission and that he was going to take it to the Chevy dealer and have them put it in right. Steve told me it would take 2 weeks. It's been 1 month and no transmission. I was told that he had 3 of his professional mechanics test drive my car and found nothing wrong with it. So they didn't even look at the transmission. On Monday I was unable to start my Jeep Grand Cherokee. I hadn't established a mechanic relationship yet so I called a few places in NE Seattle, most were able to get me in 1 week later but Steve at Jeff's told me I could have it towed there and they would squeeze a diagnosis in the very next day between other appointments. Brandon and Steve were very friendly and take safe & sanitary contactless Covid procedures seriously and with respect. The tow truck dropped the Jeep off in front of the shop, it took 4 of them to push it into a bay. These guys are just as good as it gets. I am relatively new to the area, so I had the additional anxiety of finding a repair shop that I can trust. I have two little girls and my husband is away on military duty, so it was imperative that I get my car repaired quickly. I called the shop and they told me to bring it in. They were able to work on it right away. All of the staff was professional. I sat in the lobby while they fixed my car and observed many phone and personal transactions. I could tell that they honestly are concerned about customer satisfaction. It's now approximately 3 weeks post-visit, and I'm still as happy as can be. No more problems. I've had the same problem with two previous cars (Saturns are great, but their starters crap out like no other!). I think I paid approximately $400 to have this same problem fixed on my old Saturn about 4 years ago in Hawaii. This visit cost me just over $300 on a newer model Saturn. I guess what I'm getting at is I think their prices are very honest. I was in a position ripe for being taken advantage of, but these guys treated me like their daughter. They wanted my car to be in the safest running condition, being every bit as picky as my own father. They even changed the license plate light. I had no idea it had even gone out! I highly recommend Jeff's. It's conveniently located on the 75 Metro route just in case you need to be somewhere after dropping off your sick car. Doug took some time explaining why timing belts need to be changed,but that is long in the future for me. I had a coupon for an oil change,but I asked about synthetic oil and they told me whatever I have had before I should stick with-he explained about the oils and cost, also I was quite overdue for an oil change,which I think I could feel. This is the only place I will take my car from here on out. My jeep has had a bit of trouble recently and Jeff's Auto Repaid has done a fantastic job. Everyone I speak to is kind and willing to explain the repairs to me and the probably causes. They are honest and have even charged me less money on one of the repairs they performed because they had to use more expensive supplies than they expected. They even have a few loaner cars that they are willing to let me use for free! I've had a radiator replaced, the blower in my A/C, pan gaskets and seals plus more. read more

Follow up on Jeff's auto "repair" In the end, I went back to retrieve my van and Steve said he saw my yelp review and wanted to make things fair. He said he would entertain an offer to settle. I had feared they would try to get all they were trying to bilk me for which may have totalled close to $2k. I offered them $1k. Still to high for the work they did but I feared the worst because they had my van and had leverage over me. I needed to get my van back as it is full of our construction equipment. I suspected they knew I am a contractor and knew I had money. That's why the price was soooo high! Steve accepted the offer only on the terms that I amend my yelp posting. I have a fleet of vehicles that often need service and will continue to look for an honest mechanic to service them. As for Steve and Jeff's auto repair, all I can say is they did try to make it "fair" but only because of my post on yelp. Otherwise, I probably would be out another 1k. Thanks internet! read more

My son Michael decided to move from Bakersfield, CA to Seattle, WA. We packed his belongings in a trailer and he followed us in his car. 186 miles from Seattle, his car starts making a weird noise. We decided to risk it and keep driving. We arrived at his new home and had noticed Jeff's Auto repair across the street. We took the vehicle in the following morning (Monday) no appointment. Doug was up front about it taking a while to get it to it. We definitely appreciated the honesty. We had to get back on the road to California, but he called us and told us what was wrong with my son's car. He had it fixed all in the same day. I know if my son has other vehicle issues, I will make sure he takes his car to Jeff's. Thank you Doug for the excellent, efficient service. Had to have a new engine placed into my car after Jiffy Lube did a shoddy job with a simple oil change. My fault for going there in the first place, but I spent some time talking to Doug @ Jeff's today after visiting and was incredibly pleased with the attention to detail and the friendliness of this shop. They do competitively-priced oil changes ($35-$40 if I'm not mistaken) and are real mechanics that can spot other problem areas with your engine that simpler shops may not catch at all. They have a warranty on their service (36 months) in case something wasn't installed properly, which is something I've never heard of before. My engine had a warranty via OEM, but the work was warrantied by the shop since they're accountable for it. Very impressed with my first experience here and I can see why others would go here. I'm sure they'll make attempts at small upsells, but they're mechanics that will simply tell you what is recommended for your vehicle. If you aren't quick enough to ask for an honest opinion, then you're going to pay for services that you may/may not need anywhere you go. At least these guys take responsibility for their work, something that other shops aren't so quick to do. I'm keeping this place on my radar for future engine work, should I need it. read more

Normally I rave about this place, normally very friendly, helpful service and decent prices for regular upkeep maintenance. This was my first time calling this location though and asking for help. I called to ask a question that I know not many people do (but it doesn't hurt to ask right?.....) and was met with an impatient response and a snarky No, but then quickly followed up by if it was something different maybe I would help you. I was very calm and nice, reiterated that I don't know how auto shops deal with this kind of request, then asked if he would know of anyone else who could help me. Was met with another short answer and snarky tone of "it's a mechanics preference" This was all fine but I would have expected more patience and understanding especially with the previous experiences I've had there. Unfortunately this experience has made me very wary to continue going to them, at least this location. I know that they probably trade off workers for each location but at least every single person has been understanding and kind at the other one that I've interacted with. Customer service is very important to me and I want to be giving my money to people who care. read more

As if I'd agree to waiting that long for a damn headlight replacement. Also I've had a headlight replacement recently on my other headlight and it didn't even cost a quarter of what they charged me and took no time at all. So either these guys wayyy overcharged me or they really had to work that hard to replace it in which case you should avoid this place anyways. We live in Wedgwood and have been taking our cars to Jeff's for years. We would never go anywhere else. These guys are everything you want in a repair shop. First of all, they are great mechanics. Second, they are honest. In fact, they bend over backwards to make sure that you are not surprised! Third, their customer service is second to none. I took my Ford Fusion into Jeff's after it died on the road. Despite being a pretty involved repair - replacing most of the (broken) AWD system - Jeff's turned the car around very quickly. The service writer, Steve, explained everything very clearly. For part of the repair, they let me use a loaner since I would be without my car for some time. read more

When I took my car in for an oil change at an auto mechanic next to U Village, I was told I would need various fluid flushes which would total $300+. Thought this was fishy since I had a buyer's inspection done 2 months prior and the car came back with flying colors. So, based on a trusted referral, I took the car to Jeff's for a second opinion. They looked at everything, including the rear differential (which they typically charge for), and said there was nothing wrong with the car. Never charged me a dime, either! Glad my referral came through and I will definitely be using Jeff's again. Also, for any of you based in the U area, this place is conveniently located off the 75 bus route. read more

I didn't want to have to write a review on Yelp but couldn't find the owner of the company to write to. I don't know what happened to the wonderful people and service. I have been a loyal customer of Jeff's for 3 cars now. I started in Renton, WA and they were so good to me. They explained what was happening and always let me know the cost and ever worked with me on payment one time when I couldn't afford the total. Because of them, I knew I would stay loyal because they treated me well and with respect. Unfortunately, I got older and moved out of Renton and started taking my car to Jeff's on Sandpoint Way. Two years ago I went in and was not treated to the usual customer service and was charged more than I ever had been. That was OK because I had a better car but I started looking around for another service. Yesterday I went in for something I view as pretty simple for a Auto Service. My bucket seat in my Mini Cooper was jammed in the back position. I could not get it to move forward. Steve answered my 8am call and told me to bring it in, I did. I was not talked to, I was not given an estimate. He said to just leave it and they would take a look at it. I did. I called at 1:00pm to see what was going on and Steve told me "the guys are at lunch, your next when they get back" He wasn't going to give more than that and I could tell he was in a bad mood, so I waited. I called back at 4:00pm to see if I could get my car back today. Steve told me it was ready. Well, because I had to take the bus I was at the shop about 1 hour later and they were just pulling my car out when I got off the bus. I went in the office and observed the worker trying to get my seat out of the back position and pull it forward. He couldn't do it. When Steve came in the building to ring me up, I said, "its not fixed" he told me that it was and they had it moving back and forth before I came in. He said let me take a look. As he walked out the door with me right behind him, he closed the door on me as he walked out. I went out anyway. They tried a few more times to get the seat to move forward and it wouldn't budge. The worker in the car said the bar was broken. Steve said it needed to go to the dealership. Steve said he wouldn't charge me. Today, I took the car to the Mini dealership. Very nice guy, at 6:15am, said let me take a look. The he went in and got another person. They took my car in their shop and used a blower to blow out a pen that was in the track. All fixed. No charge. I want to thank Jeff's in Renton for all they did for me over the years. I can't help but wonder how much they would have charged me for not fixing my car. read more

I will not return or recommend Jeff's Auto repair. The quote I was given originally, doubled after I dropped off my car, and the diagnostic was not included in the original price (which is normally free through other companies). After deciding to go with another auto repair, I was asked to pay over 60 dollars for the diagnostic. My car was returned to me in the exact condition I brought it in with. No repairs were done. Before you bring in your car, it is worth looking at looking at other shops. read more
