If exceptional hospitality is what separates a good hotel from a great one, the Thompson absolutely nailed it. From the moment we arrived, every interaction made us feel genuinely welcomed. Isala gave us a wonderful first impression at check-in, and the valet team was consistently quick, friendly, and efficient throughout our stay. The standout of our trip was undoubtedly the pool experience. We spent most of our stay there, and Maurice made it unforgettable. On a packed Saturday afternoon, he immediately helped us find pool chairs, checked on us frequently, and somehow always appeared right when we needed another drink. What impressed us even more was that his hospitality didn't stop at the pool. The following morning, he noticed us waiting for our breakfast table and came over to ask if we'd like lattes while we waited. That level of attentiveness and genuine care is incredibly rare and made us feel like valued guests rather than just another room number. Breakfast was another highlight. My only recommendation is to make a reservation - we learned that the hard way. Despite the wait, the host was warm and welcoming, asked if we were celebrating anything special, and made sure our server knew. At the end of our meal, we were surprised with a beautiful slice of cake to celebrate, which was such a thoughtful touch. The property itself is gorgeous. The pool has an upscale but relaxed vibe, the Saturday DJ was fantastic, the grounds were impeccably maintained, and our room was spotless and comfortable. This was our pup's first hotel stay and she absolutely loved it. Pets also stay for free which is a huge plus. Though I highly recommend bringing shoes for your pups as the pavements can get extremely hot with the Palm Springs heat. I've stayed at many hotels, and it's often the small, thoughtful moments that leave the biggest impression. The Thompson delivered those moments again and again. Please ensure your staff is properly trained on your room upgrade procedures. An upgrade should never leave a guest in a room that is smaller, has an obstructed view, or offers less living space than the room they originally booked. I booked through American Express and was given a beautiful room with upgrade eligibility. When I asked about an upgrade, I was moved into what was clearly a downgrade--a smaller room with an obstructed view and noticeably less space paying $$$$ more. That was disappointing and not what I would expect from a luxury property. Your room service menu also needs to be updated. It states that room service is available until 11:00 p.m., but I was informed it actually ends at 9:00 pm. Housekeepers never came to clean my room I left for 2 hrs specifically for this. read more

As I'm writing this the Thompson is the newest hotel in Palm Springs. Beautiful property located in the mix of Palm Canyon Dr. The decor was bright, airy, modern with a lot of indigenous touches that I loved. Guest rooms were quite spacious with large bathrooms/showers and a private patio. The grounds were very clean and I enjoyed walked around the property to take in the architecture. All staff members were friendly, professional and helpful. The onsite restaurant has amazing Mediterranean food for breakfast lunch and dinner. Live Jazz music in the evenings on the 2nd floor in the restaurant area. Check with the hotel for the live music schedule. Hotel is very close to lots of shops and eateries so consider walking to explore the neighborhood. read more

Our January stay was perfect, not overcrowded and we were in a more secluded adult only part of the hotel with its own private pool area. This is a beautiful hotel. The grounds are wonderfully maintained and landscaped and the rooms (we were in the upper stories) have really nice extra tall ceilings and the finishes in the room are very nice. The bed and bed linens are super comfortable and made for a lovely deep sleep. Chromecast to the tv worked too, in some hotels we have issues with it. A few cons to keep it real; other commenters are correct, I heard someone sneeze in another room near us and the people above us seemed like they were stomping around up there all morning..So noise carries but not enough to bother us. Another con for me is the scent in the bedroom; it's a beautiful indulgent spa/ expensive smell.. I know the hotel experience they are going for, it's not offensive but I'm allergic to chemicals and scents so that was a major letdown for me.. however we had a balcony with a huge door that we left open to air the room all night so that helped. It did take me 3 days to recover though (again, that's medical for me, most people will find it luxurious). If I were to return to the hotel I would need a personal guarantee my room could be scent free. I liked the hotel and our stay so much, I do hope in the future I can come back! When we stayed most couples (diverse crowd; elderly, young, gay and straight: typical Palm Springs) were enjoying a relaxing weekend and seemed to be quiet and respectful. The hotel offered yoga class (assume complimentary) outside facing the mountain that looked exquisite but I wasn't aware and when I noticed, I had coffee in hand and a pastry from the courtesy help yourself station next to the private adult pool in the upper stories and so heading back to my room to leisure a little longer. Their orange juice is fresh squeezed and delicious and if alcohol is your thing, they had complimentary canned mixed drinks and beer available to guests in this section of the hotel as well as chilled bottled water and canned prebiotic sodas . I will review their restaurants separately but it was an exquisite stay. So happy to have experienced my first Thompson hotel as a Hyatt globalist. Parking; they offer valet and self parking. You will need to use the other parking structure behind the hotel if you have a tall vehicle ( which on this visit we did) $35 nightly. read more

This is our second time here and will not come back. There was a cockroach in the room that crawled behind the mirror and it's disgusting. I called and they seem to be nonchalant about the issue and response was should we send security to kill it?! I said no, as it is late and my partner is asleep. how about not have roaches in your rooms??!!! so just dealing with it hoping it doesn't go on our things. I had to move everything out of the bathroom. First thing in the morning I addressed the cockroach and was told it is a desert cricket and was told that it's not a reflection of cleanliness of hotel.. Bullshit this a cockroach! The excuse of being in the desert outdoor hotel it's normal is bs. I have stayed at multiple properties in PS and have never had an issue with this. ...We were at the pool earlier and ordered food and literally took an hour to receive it and it was not busy whatsoever. Once the food arrived the poke had no sauce whatsoever and the salad did not have crab as it was said on the menu....this hotel is beautiful and for our second time here definitely will be our last. Service is horrible and cockroach in the room?!! Wtf ! our experience here last time was not good as well waiting over an hour for breakfast and the staff was sooo rude..I'm a very kind reasonable person and by far the worst service in a hotel ever and the worst service at a restaurant ever. The only save and grace is Bar Issi which not even a part of the property, but conveniently located next to the hotel. Such a wonderful Thompson. It's trying to be the top one but still has some kinks to work out. Verne was wonderful w reservations and good check in because of overflow. Nice upgrade. But short on second room ! Overall Josh is amazing bartender /server for breakfast and the afternoon drink. One of the rooms was super clean. The second one was the lowest price point but also next to the Svc elevators. Etc. had some smell issue. overall front desk helped clean up some of the miscommunication during this first day. So for this reason any negative stuff during our stay went up in the ballon as hot air. My girlfriends and I came to the lobby area at Thompson for some dancing with Tina Turntables and wow we had a blast! It happened to be the Marilyn Monroe 100th bday celebration too so we saw some great Marilyns roaming through in their white dresses and wigs. Welcome to downtown Palm Springs Thompson Hotel! This hotel just opened in October 2024 and is pretty dreamy! Valet is $30 per night and check in was very smooth. Our room wasn't ready when we arrived at 2pm on 4th of July so we checked out the lobby bar/ restaurant called Hall Napa Valley and it was a great time with great service. Once our room was ready our bellman Tom took our bags and was very friendly. We stayed on the second floor in room 268. It was nice as we were right by the adult pool. We booked this resort in particular as they have two pools but one is 21 and over which was the vibe we were going for. The pool service was excellent and shout out to Andro who made excellent spicy margaritas and was incredibly friendly. The room itself was spacious and the AC was top notch which is appreciated in July. Otherwise I was pretty impressed with the mini bar they had great offerings along with eye masks and palm spring makeup bags/ luggage tags which was very cute! Our bed was a king and incredibly plush with divine pillows. We had a cute little patio which was great to sit and catch the sunset. The bathroom was also large and had an amazing shower with great shower pressure. They provided loofahs and shower caps which was appreciated. The Thompson also provided complimentary breakfast by the pool during the weekend. They had cinnamon rolls, mimosas and coffee which was a really nice touch. Overall, this hotel exceeded expectations as we tend to be a more boutique hotel couple but this place was everything and more. We will definitely be back! read more

What a fantastic escape--perfect for a holiday weekend! We stayed over the Fourth of July weekend to get away from the bustle of LA, and this hotel exceeded all expectations. From the moment we arrived, everything--from the atmosphere to the amenities--was top-notch. There was also a street fair Thursday night that was so good . Love that kids are allowed. Bring floaties to relax in the pool. I noticed the pool staff puts "reserved" signs on many of the pool chairs, but I think you have to ask if you can use them because i don't think they are actually reserved. The white daybeds cost money, so don't get all settled down on it unless you want to pay for it. Rooms are nice and spacious, we had the 2 queen room facing downtown (room 228), didn't hear any noise from hotel or outside. Food is good at Lola Rose, just ask for your meat to not be overly burnt. Everything is cooked over fire so I suppose some parts must get a little burnt. Manager is very good about helping you out if something is amiss. Food comes out slowly so be prepared to wait, don't come starving! Relaxing experience overall, I will return! read more

First visit, the night of the Festival of Lights Parade on Palm Canyon was so much fun. The rooftop deck/ lounge @ The Thompson was the best place ever for a birds-eye view of the annual parade! The streets were jam packed with people ...so upstairs at the bar was perfect. A nice variety of signature cocktails, and wines by the glass. The small plates and hummus caught our eye- what a variety...and we ordered about six...not one was alike - exceptional!... the pita bread is served fresh and piping hot...out if this world! We stayed at Thompson Palm Springs on Friday night because we were attending a concert in the area. I was amazed by how large and elegant the resort is! We were told it took 16 years to build--wow! It truly feels like an oasis in the desert, with very convenient access to the main street, Palm Canyon Drive, which is lined with restaurants, shops, galleries, and a museum. We booked the 1 King Bed Mountain View Room Walk-Up with Balcony (420 sq ft). The bed was very comfortable! I really liked the simple, modern interior, with earthy tones and natural finishes. The balcony was spacious, with a great view of the mountains and a partial view of the street. The bathroom was clean, and the shower was excellent--the water pressure was perfect! The complimentary slippers were high-quality. We also received two complimentary water bottles, which could be refilled at the ice machine room on the same floor. The resort has two swimming pools: one near the bar and breakfast area, offering a nice view of Palm Canyon Drive, and another near our room, which was quiet and tranquil. We had breakfast at Lola Rose on Saturday morning, which was good. The service was excellent, especially from Ivan, who was incredibly friendly and helpful. He recommended great shops and restaurants nearby and gave us all the important details about the hotel, including where to refill water and how to access our Globalist status lounge benefits. We felt truly relaxed and rejuvenated after staying at Thompson Palm Springs. We'll definitely return for our next trip to Palm Springs! read more

Booked a last minute trip to Palm Springs just before Easter weekend. We usually stay at the resorts in Rancho Mirage and Indian Wells when we visit Palm Springs but decided to stay in the downtown area. My wife found the Thompson Hotel and we gave it a try. Check-in was smooth and the front desk staff was welcoming and nice. We got our room right away and decided to head to the pool. They have a really nice pool area. However, if you go there in the afternoon, all the seats are usually taken. Only the reserved seats or cabanas were available. However it wasn't worth it to pay for a Cabana since it was already 3pm in the afternoon. We eventually got seats after some people left. If you are going to the pool, I recommend going early in the morning to secure your pool side seats. We enjoyed the pool and the great ambiance. In the evenings we explored the night market on Thursday. We also booked dinner every night in downtown Palm Springs. It was an easy 10-15 min walk to all the restaurants from the hotel. Overall, we had a good stay here and enjoyed the room and good location of the hotel. read more

Over the weekend we went to the pool for a bachelorette party. We rented a cabana Kelly was our server by the pool. She was amazing and so attentive service was prompt. She was very knowledgeable and patient. We will definitely be coming back and requesting her as our server. The manager also kept coming around and checking to make sure that we were happy. The pool is very chic and modern presentation. * Service: The valet staff is very nice and friendly. The front desk is hit and miss. We booked via World of Hyatt at last minute for a weekend getaway. We got the very last room available which turned out to be ADA room, 316. Therefore, the room's arrangement is not typical. The room is tucked on the back side of the hotel. It is quiet but no view. We were then moved to room 212 once it is available. This room is facing the street and downtown PS. I do like the room's arrangement, view and bathroom size. To be warned, if you are looking for quiescent, this is not it. We did not mind the street festive noise. The pool is quite nice and heated. It is very chic and sexy, definitely IG worthy. I'm a bit conflict in term of rating, between 4 to 5 since our first night check-in was a bit disappointing with the room and service. However, the following day front staff did recover and accommodate our request. Since the hotel is petfriendly and no fee, that alone gets extra star from my rating. Hard Pass! We have given the rooftop bar and lounge area 3 attempts. All 3 times have been huge let downs. The bartenders act like they hate their jobs. (They do not greet you or speak l. If you have a question they point to their menu.) We sent my allergy food back due to multiple errors. The manager apologized and brought new food out that was exactly the same! While we waited, 2 ladies asked for the fire place to be turned on but almost got burned by it because the flames were so high. The bartender's response, "I thought they fixed that." And shut it off. We went to the bar of this new downtown hotel last summer, but this was our first time staying in the hotel. First of all, it's a stylish, beautifully done, convenient new hotel in the heart of Palm Springs. The unusual architecture is worth the stay. Some of what makes it unique also leads to some significant inconvenience. It is hard to describe but several of the third story rooms sit on independent structures rising above the second floor plaza (with its lovely pool, jacuzzi, bar and restaurant). These rooms are only accessible by a set of stairs so even getting carry-on luggage to the room is awkward, I would not like to lug a large suitcase up those stairs.( We were trying to imagine how the staff deals with cleaning those rooms, with their cleaning carts parked a full story below.) Its all the rage in hotels these days, but I really don't like the so-called "barn doors" on bathrooms. They do not provide adequate privacy in my opinion. To the point, if you don't close the heavy barn door and use the toilet at night you will flood the whole bedroom with bright light because the light in the toilet area is on a motion-sensor and comes on automatically, and it stays on far to long if you don't turn it off with the switch. (As an aside, being exposed to bright white light in the middle of the night is well known to interrupt sleep patterns which affects many things.) They should provide a soft nightlight of some kind in the bathroom, not blinding white light. The bar/restaurant is convenient and very busy during the winter season. Both are fun, and we would have spent more time at the bar in the evening but the DJ plays music so loudly that it is very difficult to talk. I get it, the hotel seems to be catering to a much young crowd so this may be appealing, but for us who are long past 30-something, it is annoying, and we spent less money at the bar than we would have with a little less volume! After all of that, we will stay here again. Its a great place, our room was spacious and comfortable with a large balcony that had a great view looking out on Palm Canyon Drive, a local plaza and the distant mountains. read more

This Hotel came highly recommended by everyone we met, after the nightmare at the Hyatt Palm Springs. Before checking out of the hotel, we decided walk down to the Thompson for breakfast. Even though breakfast had just concluded, they served us anyway. One of the Execs saw to that. The breakfast was impressive, but the service by Erika was even more impressive. When my eggs weren't served as ordered, she not only took them back to the kitchen, but remained there to watch and make certain they were done properly. On our way out, I asked Ericka (another Ericka who worked at the front desk) if we could see a room to prepare for our next trip. She had the bellman ,who was very attentive and informative, to show us 2 rooms. On the spot we decided to stay another night. When Ericka saw my license, she noticed that I was celebrating my birthday. Jokingly I said,"so do you guys show birthday love?" She answered without hesitation, "yes. Let me see what I can do." She smiled and gave me an upgrade ! She walked us to the room to show us all the amenities that came with it. We then almost ran to the Hyatt to check out. When we returned we were welcomed by all the wonderful people we had met and a glass of wine. We changed our clothes went to both bars, and then both pools. The rest is blissful history.... Absolutely love this place. From the moment I walked in at the valet and all the way through the lounge, I felt welcomed. I took the elevator to the second floor which is considered the roof as the rooms are above that in bungalow form. Once the elevator doors open, your immediately whisked away to a gorgeous and welcoming and cozy and inviting lounge and bar with both an inside and outside lounge areas. The hostess was so welcoming and informative, she gave off such a great energy. The bartender attended to our table and recommended some of their more popular cocktails (at my request) and then went to immediate craft the drinks. This will be my new hangout.
