a crowd of people at a bar

Last night was a true experience. First day post covid restrictions lifted and this place was so packed you actually couldn't move. After politely shoving our way to the bar between all the 22 year old chads and brads, we ordered 8 vodka sodas for five people. We politely asked for cran in two and he replied with "all or NONE." So no cran for us. After we got our drinks I wanted a fun picture so I stood on a chair. I know not a cute look but sorry for partying am I right? Well next thing I know I get PELTED IN THE HEAD WITH A SHARD OF ICE. when I turned to see who threw it, it was the all or none bartender screaming at me. I'm sorry but this reaction does not match the problem. Finally, at 9:42 pm the lights went on and everyone started screaming to leave. Mind you, we called that morning and they said they were open until ONE AM. They told the staff it was too crowded and they were just shutting it for the night, Jon Taffer style. The real crime here was they didn't even let the Nickelback song finish all the way through. The highlight of the event was Brooks! He was so sweet and an absolute delight. Give that man a raise.

We are a non-profit organization staffed completely by volunteers. Concerts are held twice each month throughout the year. First Encounter provides a rare opportunity to listen to a variety of fine music in a smoke and alcohol free environment. We offer home-baked treats and hot and cold beverages. Children are welcome and admitted free, so it's a great place to go as a family. Here at our website you can find a schedule of our upcoming concerts, information on mailings and memberships and directions so you can find us." this place is famous, seriously it has had some big names in blues and folk. Its very cheap considering that you will get TWO shows in a row. the building is beautiful with amazing stain glass windows. the acoustics of the room are wonderful for music, amplifying it and holding the sound to perfection. Its intimate, and inviting; the perfect date place. The signers often involve you in the music and have you sing along. It will fill up fast, because this is where the locals go for music on cape cod. Id recommend for bigger shows showing up 20 min ahead of time. Of course they will fit you in, as you can always stand. visit website http://www.firstencounter.org/ for info and to see if there is a concert

The formula is actually pretty simple: the food is excellent... the service is memorably bad. In fact, it's become a running family joke every summer. We always wonder, "How bad will the customer service be this time?" It's almost part of the experience. It starts before you even walk in. If you call to place an order, they answer the phone like they're genuinely annoyed that it rang. Then they tell you your order will be ready in, say, 20 minutes. My advice? Add another 15 minutes to whatever they tell you. It's almost automatic. When I say the service is bad, I don't mean the employees are overwhelmed or having an off day. They often talk to customers as if you're inconveniencing them simply by ordering. It's consistently curt and surprisingly rude. Then comes the twist... You slide your credit card into the machine. It asks if you'd like to leave a tip. You make your selection. Then--like someone flipped a switch--they smile, hand you your food, genuinely thank you, and wish you a nice day. And somehow... it works. Five minutes ago you were annoyed. Now you have your food, you're relieved the ordeal is over, and you're walking out smelling the pizza! It's like a customer-service Jedi mind trick. They don't convince you the service was good--they just make you so happy to finally have your food that you momentarily forget how you were treated. I've watched this happen to me--and to plenty of other customers--for years. And yet... I keep going back. Because the food really is that good.

I recommend arriving early since you will likely have to park farther away. The shows are held at the Whit Tileston Band Stand in Kate Gould Park on Chatham's Main Street. Who is Whit? He was the legendary band director here for decades and of my own childhood. You have to see the show here at least once if you are visiting Chatham, plus it's free. This is a great activity for the whole family! The band plays quite a variety of songs that appeal to all, plus you will hear a couple of tunes for the kids as well. You will also hear "It's band time in Chatham" and this catchy jingle might be in your head for the rest of the evening. Shows are on Friday nights in late June through the end of August. Bring your blanket or beach chair and arrive a bit early. Our tradition was always to stop at nearby Candy Manor for some treats! So come here for the night and step back in time into a scene that looks like it could be from a Norman Rockwell painting while you create some special memories!

We dined outdoors in the early July evening, and the atmosphere was perfect. Our server struck the perfect balance between friendly/casual and attentive. Spinnaker offers some fun cocktails, and a tight and focused wine list. A Greek salad (different, with a creamy dressing) was a nice, fresh starter. The bolognese was practically life-changing, and also a balm for my pasta soul, coming a few weeks after a very disappointing carbonara. I'd have a hard time ordering anything else on a return visit, though there are so many tempting items on this menu. The short ribs were also a standout here, with a variation from the typical takes. And then there was the bread pudding. Again, practically life-changing. Do not skip this dessert. We do not live anywhere near the Cape, but if we're ever back, I'll certainly make a return visit a priority. Just wow.

Standout dishes were the bolognese and the caramel bread pudding. The chickpea fritters were also excellent, and a special shoutout to the fresh complimentary bread served with olive oil; it was a great way to start. The Caesar salad was good, but nothing particularly memorable. We visited to celebrate my mom's birthday. They added a candle to the dessert we ordered, which was a nice touch, but there wasn't much additional acknowledgment of the occasion. If you're looking for a restaurant that goes above and beyond for special celebrations, this may not be the best choice.
