I was looking forward to trying this restaurant as my husband and I love seafood and steak and we have been to many of the "go-to's" in MB many times. Unfortunately, the food was just ok and DEFINITELY not worth the price when there are so many amazing restaurants in MB. Additionally, the atmosphere is so dark all the people at the tables were using cell phone flashlights to see the menu (yes, we are older, but we were not the only ones doing this). The walls are all wood which may be some people's preferred vibe, but I just found it to be like a dungeon. Additionally, our server spoke so softly I had to try and read her lips and guess what she was even saying (and no, I don't struggle with hearing loss yet). My scallops were small and I have had much better scallops in size and flavor at Hook n Barrel and Chive Blossom for less cost. My husband's steak was really good and there are no complaints there, but we've had the same elsewhere at a much better price. And if all of that wasn't bad enough, we love wine, and their wine list seemed to have mostly things you could find at the grocery store priced like it was straight out of Napa. Yes, there were some "higher end" wines listed; however, the price point was NOT commensurate with the label. Anyway, overall I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone that is a foodie or frequents the many MB amazing dining options, this one is definitely not worth your time nor $$. read more

My daughter and I went for my birthday in July and I was a bit disappointed. The decor is old school fine dining snd I was anticipating an amazing experience. I love prime rib and was so looking forward to this meal. My prime rib was an end cut so it had lots of the flavor due to the rub - and my daughter had a cut with almost no flavor and just too much gristle - not exaggerating when I say at least 1/4 of her cut or more. The waiter absolutely should have noted this The waiter pulled my plate while she was still eating which is just not done in fine dining We felt rushed even though it was early and they were not busy. The mashed potatoes side was delicious but just a minuscule serving They were aware it was my birthday and the table was covered in confetti - very cute so when ordered dessert I was surprised the server did not stick a candle in it. The rolls were stale, the ham I chose was prepackaged, and they served me the tail end, the sweet potatoes was purée, the green bean casserole was cold and congealed. My husband felt exactly the same with everything on his plate, including the turkey totally disappointing with the cornbread stuffing was anything but yummy. $275 later, we will not be returning. We made a reservation for 3 this week for early on Wednesday evening. Before going we shared the online menu among ourselves and we all were aware of the menu offerings and pricing. I was looking forward to the peach glazed pork chop. However---when we arrived we were given a menu substantially different than the one on the website. The waitress told us that the menu she gave us was their "seasonal" menu. Just a note....by seasonal I think they meant a menu with 50% of the standard website menu items available ...all marked up 100%. For example...Tomahawk Steak..$175 (?) and all side items are extra...most entrees were without sides and averaged $40..... I will say that I had a wedge salad $15, shrimp cocktail $20 and a French onion soup $15....unsweetened tea $4.75---total for my dinner $54.75 and all were good. I was let down by the fact that they didn't have the peach glazed pork chop as advertised on the website. I wonder when that is in season ....hmmm . It's a nice place, good service and I hope the tomahawk steak is outstanding. read more

Definitely a different atmosphere! Old, rustic type of feel. My wife had the filet and I had the ribeye. The filet was ordered medium. When it came out, half the steak was medium and the other half was rare. I ordered the ribeye medium well and it was cooked closer to well, which is okay with me. The steak is "coffee crusted" and is advertised as being so. I didn't care for it, but that's just my opinion. After the food was delivered, the waitress didn't come back to check until we were nearly done with our food. I had to ask for a refill on my drink. They have by my calculation 17 food items on the HH menu and a bunch of drink options. I compared their regular dinner menu to their HH menu and most if not all the HH items are half price; a great deal especially when you taste them. I ordered the soup & garden salad (is there anything other than a "garden" salad? Hydroponic?)The soup du jour was NE chowder which was very good and hot. The salad thankfully was not the standard iceberg lettuce but actual greenery with cherry tomatoes and cukes; also very good. I also ordered the Lowcountry crab cake over squash purée and spinach. We were looking for a restaurant that served a Thanksgiving meal on Thanksgiving Day and I came across Thoroughbreds Chophouse while checking into where we could go.....many 5 star ratings so my expectations were set for a good meal. I'm still stunned the day after as to how horrible the meal was. At $68 per person it was the most expensive meal we ever had (and we eat at many very good restaurants in the area) and it was the worst we've ever had. I was relieved to see someone else's post feeling the same. It took forever for dinner to be served and when it came we couldn't believe our eyes. The turkey was sliced thin as if for a sandwich. Then it was either fried to heated in a microwave.....it was dry and the edges were curled up. The sides were barely a tablespoon serving and worse than a TV dinner. The rolls were basically wonder bread. By the time we were served a couple of the desserts were no longer available so the three of us ordered pumpkin pie. It was basically a mini tart with a teaspoon of pumpkin and a squirt of whipped cream. Dinner took 3 hours. I'm still in shock that a restaurant with this high a rating had the nerve to charge $68/person for a meal this horrible. They certainly left an impression.....lesson learned...I think we won't be the only diners that won't be back. read more

The booth cushions were incredibly dusty along with everywhere we looked like the lighting on and above the table also the wall art. Their esthetic is unique but not when it's sacrificing cleanliness. The service for not being fine dining, but "refined"left a lot to be desired. It was 6pm and they were already out of the crab cake starter, which was not told to us before hand by the server. So we opted for the oysters, and they were terrible. Shell bits and grit galore. The french onion soup was delicious, but the side of mushrooms for the steak had zero seasoning. It was like the mushrooms were boiled in water and then they cracked pepper on them and presented to table. The steaks were cooked to our likings which is medium rare. My wife had the prime rib and an appetizer of scallops and both were just perfect. I had three appetizers that included escargot, tenderloin tips, and jumbo shrimp cocktail, as well as an order of Chardonnay mushrooms. So good!! The restaurant is absolutely beautiful and is very intimate and welcoming and perfectly situated for a spectacular dining experience. Special shout out to our servers, Suzy and Stacy. They suggested the best menu items and wow did they hit a home run. First white wine by the glass was sour and had turned. 2nd glass of same wine from a new bottle was ok. I can't recall ever getting wine by the glass that had already turned bad! First glass of red wine was flat. Second red wine wad vibrant and fresh. Salad was the best part of the meal. Lambchops were thin and tough. Crabcake was 25% filler, processed, boring, old and bland. Eggplant parmigiano was overspiced with oregano, and cheese had not sufficiently melted.Vegetables were overbuttered. Even dessert wasn't too good, and I'm a sucker for anything chocolaty and nutty.
