Delicious breakfast with huge portions - you will not leave hungry! My breakfast sandwich and home fries were fresh, cooked well, and tasty. I was thankful for the large portion, because it was so good. The service was a bit slow and subpar, however this may not always be the case. I would definitely return here for a brunch, especially with a group!

This is the ULTIMATE place to get the Best food ever, watching these people enjoying what they do is part of the goodness. Food, service and the whole experience is top notch. The people of Willimantic should be proud of this place and support it as often as possible. Thanks for the awesome food and smiles

My 1st time here, out on a day trip and drove an hour before stopping for breakfast. I'm sad it's so far away , it's great . It would be my #1 breakfast joint . The service was quick and friendly , the meal was perfect and plentiful. My coffee was always full . My only advice would be if you want your hash browns or hash a little crunch , make sure you ask for well done . Good Job !

One day my boyfriend and I decided we wanted to try a new breakfast spot so after some searching we went here! It's a cute little spot with great staff. They sat us quickly, even though it was pretty busy. The portions are amazing and so are the prices. We both ordered the big willie which offers: three eggs, home fries, a meat, and pancakes/French toast, toast, and drink. The food was cooked fast and was hot!!! We both added strawberries and whip cream for our French toast. My second time going I ordered the big willie again except getting a chocolate chip pancake instead of French toast and it was HUGE !! The portions are so big we never finish could share if we could. Will definitely keep coming back, anytime I think about breakfast this place comes to mind

3 people & didn't leave a dent in the food!

PATTY MELT REVIEW…read more Iconic diner on the edge of Chinatown, a couple blocks east of the Expressway. It's been around for decades and it's open 24/7. More of an authentic this-place-has-aged feel than the typical diner attempt to evoke an earlier era. Went in the morning and went for a patty melt-- because I could. It's too elusive these days, so being able to not only find one but have it at breakfast, a double win. Double patty is standard, not an add-on, and fries (probably frozen, but lengthy, crisp and fluffy) are included. No onions, no rye, but lettuce and tomato-- a non-traditional configuration. Nicely browned patties that had juiciness. The ingredients weren't anything to write home about, but the execution was great all around and so was the cheerful service from a seasoned veteran. Sure, I've had better with the proper rye, griddled onions, and higher quality beef, but an easy 4 stars for the execution, value, vibe, and being able to even order a patty melt before 10 in the morning. Bonus points for a plastic ketchup squeeze bottle that was slightly warm. Breakfast items (eggs, crispy home fries, and pancakes) on a neighboring table looked good.

South Street Diner was one of the few places open that early, so I decided to give it a try. Parking was easy at that hour, and I thought it was kind of cool seeing a classic diner tucked in among all the large office buildings downtown. I was in the mood for pancakes and ended up ordering the diner special with eggs over medium, home fries, corned beef hash, bacon, and pancakes. Unfortunately, the food was mostly average to below average. The eggs were a little underdone, the home fries were slightly overcooked in spots, and the toast was pretty standard diner fare. The homemade salsa was actually a nice touch and added some flavor to the potatoes. The biggest disappointment was the corned beef hash. I was hoping for something homemade, but it reminded me of the canned version I grew up eating. The texture and flavor just weren't for me, and I ended up leaving most of it behind. The pancakes were okay but a little dense and doughy, nothing particularly memorable. On the positive side, the coffee was decent, the service was fine, and being open early is definitely a plus for travelers. Overall, I'd put this one close to 3 stars. It's convenient if you need breakfast before sunrise, but the food didn't quite live up to what I was hoping for.

A lot of reviews seem to harp on the interior, so I'll say it gave a double wide converted into a restaurant vibe. Ultimately, however, it was clean and comfortable, and that's what I want from a restaurant. Service was friendly, but I definitely sat without a coffee refill for a while, or any kind of attention, while the waitress chatted with her friends at the next table over. Food wise, the menu is classic diner, nothing too fancy, and a small enough variety of underlying ingredients that you can be confident they're doing the cooking. I got onion rings, along with two eggs and a ribeye. The onion rings were great, crispy but not burnt, good batter. The eggs were actually over easy, like I ordered, which is a huge positive. The ribeye didn't have much flavor, but they have A1, and it was a little undercooked, but I would rather that than overcooked. The coffee was brewed well, not burnt nor bitter. Other notes: the menu has an egg price modifier note, but the prices were as listed, so either they've updated the menu or the egg crisis is over enough that they stopped modifying the price. There's a sign at the register, but not in the menu, that paying with a card, debit or credit, will garner you a 4% fee, that you avoid by paying cash.

It looked really good and she mentioned her friend always got the buffalo chicken baked potato so I got that. Potato was a bit undercooked, basic buffalo sauce and a couple of frozen chicken fingers. It was topped with cheddar and sour cream - some blue cheese in there would have been nice. I wouldn't order this dish again. My son had the Mac and cheese which was good. Both my wife and daughter got the chicken penne vodka which was really really good. My son loved, even if he was a bit scared of, the cupcake with the sparkler. Would definitely come back, just ordering something different next time. Other people's burgers looked great.

He genuinely cares about his restaurant and the people he serves. A lot of owners would get defensive over something as minor as "the home fries weren't well done enough," but not Ari. We've been to Hamilton Diner many times and the food is consistently delicious. On this visit, our home fries weren't quite as crispy as we'd asked for. It was a small thing that honestly wouldn't have affected our rating at all -- we know how busy things can get. What impressed me most was Ari personally coming to our table to apologize and bringing out a fresh replacement. He didn't have to do that, but he did - and that's exactly why we'll keep coming back. Thank you, Ari, for your compassion, your humbleness, and the pride you take in your restaurant. You and your team are doing it right. Also sorry for the lack of photos, we dug right into our dishes.
