I tried this place after reading the reviews, and I wasn't disappointed. Asha did a wonderful job keeping the natural shape of my brows but still making them look well cared for. I've been to a few other threading places in Chicago, and this was by far my best experience. Even on a busy Saturday, she took time to talk about what she was going to do and make sure I was happy with her work. If you're like me and never seem to have cash, she takes credit cards and you can charge the tip. It was only $14 for brow and lip. The current loyalty card is gets you the 8th one free. Just to set expectations, this appears to be a one-woman shop. When I got there on a Saturday around 2pm, she was waxing someone in back so I wasn't greeted by anyone. I just left Threading Plus after my second experience with them - the first time, I gave four stars and called them "Friendly, efficient, worth the price." My eyebrows had needed cleaning up the first time, and they did a fine job, leaving hair to grow in, as had I specifically said that I was trying to fill in formerly too-thin brows. When I came back today, I again told the woman threading me that I wanted to just clean them up, not touch the shape or the thickness. I was very, very clear. Unfortunately, my eyebrows are now way too thin for my liking, and have been shaped (arched) in a way that does not follow their natural shape or conform to my face. Dealing with eyebrows is mostly about listening to the customer - I have no issue with the quality of the hair removal (thread, pull, etc. fine). But I have been threaded enough times to know how to be very clear about what I want, and what not to touch. I felt she took liberties and did not listen. Worse still, when she finished, and I saw and I told her that this was not what I wanted, and that I was not pleased, and reiterated what I had said, she told me that one eyebrow was naturally thinner than the other and so she had tried to even them out, accompanying her defense with a shrug. No, no, no. Terrible customer retention plan. I will not be back - there are other places that I am willing to try rather than risk this again (before a wedding, no less). read more

At long last, my search for great brow grooming in the loop is over! For $10, you get great work and great customer service in a clean and comfortable place. My brows look fantastic. Asha took the time to tell me what she was doing as she was threading (why she took certain hairs and why she kept some), and even stopped to show me progress to see if I liked it so far. These people are truly unprofessional and I will make sure everyone i know stop going to them. Due to the carelessness of one of the ladies she accidentally wiped my nose ring which was real diamond and gold from india onto the floor and we could not find it after looking for a very long time. I called the owner ASHA several times she never returned my call and finally when i got a hold of her she didn't even know about this incident. I told her i felt bad as i know it was an honest mistake but after losing a $200 dollar nose ring she still made me pay for my eyebrow service-- that was super cheap and more than trying to get her money she should of tried to keep my business as i was so disappointed i will never go back. She is so CHEAP, when i told her she should try to keep my business and show a-little remorse for what happened she asked me do you know how much money it cost me to have a shop in downtown!!!! Damn stupid lady if its that expensive go back to india! I told her if and when she loses some gold and diamond she will understand my feelings. This is the worst salon I have ever been in my life. So I took an appointment with this salon for 3 in the afternoon on phone. On the phone I talked with lady name ASHA. I specfically told her I can't come before 3 she said ok but don't be late more than 15 mints. I reached there at 3 and the lady said sry we can't take you today we are really busy n you have to take facial appointment before 24 hrs but you didn't. The reason some people love this place and others hate it is that the service is incredibly inconsistent. The owner is terrific. The rest range from OK to awful. There was the woman who misshapes eyebrows. And the woman who cut me while threading. After the latter experience I vowed I'd only go in when the owner was there. Then I got desperate and went back. I've been here before and had a fairly good experience, but I unsuccessfully tried to get my eyebrows done here twice this past week, which prompted me to write this review. Earlier in the week, I walked in at 6:30 and was turned away because there were two people waiting. Now, I'm no threading novice, so I know that eyebrows/upper lip combined take under 10 minutes each, but I leave anyway. Today, I called ahead and was told on the phone that coming at 6:30 was fine. I came in and was told it'd be a 45 minute wait. When I asked if they didn't take appointments because I'd called in earlier, I simply got a blank stare. I have been going here for years! I was so disappointed with my henia this time and remember I have been going here for a long time.... My henia which I usually don't let dry in the past would still look great! Not this time my henia was blurred and faded within hours... I usually don't go back to places and make a fuss but I paid 20.00 dollars for this , I got some on my foot & hand, I went back told the owner and her assistant that it was blurry and smudged! She did not even say I'm sorry or anything she was yelling at me and said " It's only 10.00 Henia! " this was in front of her rich customers.... It seems like since she has gotten a more richer / money cliental she is no longer helping us lower nice middle income people... I remember when this place first started I helped pass out flyers for Columbia College, I remember when she didn't have hardly any customers.... Moving to Chicago was a scary ordeal for me. I was warned: scary people on buses and especially scary scary cold weather. Although this scared me a lot nothing scared me more than the thought of having to find a new place to get my facial hairs threaded. For the first three years I searched to no avail, settling for some small place on Devon Ave. run by two ladies who chattered a lot of nonsense and didn't clean the place well. I thought that was it until one day near my work I discovered Threading Plus Beauty Salon. Sure they are a small space located next to a Nepalese restaurant but theres no harm in exploring and I decided to give them a try. The place was small, yet clean with courteous people. Asha took care of me promptly and treated me well with a small conversation and caring about exactly how I wanted my brows to look, not what she recommended or thought. It was all about me but she did throw in her two cents which made me think twice about what I wanted and it turned out great. I had a few concerns she promptly took care of and now this is my little place to go to when I get all "bushy" up there. read more

Just want to say that if you are looking for an awesome threading experience you need to go with Asha. I have been getting my eyebrows threaded for a long time and have gone to many places and Asha by far still does the best job. I used to go Thread Away which is good, but lately their service has not been that great and it is way to expensive. I was so glad when I found this place. Just stopped by here this evening as a walk-in after over a month of letting my forehead bushes grow out. Waited just a few minutes while she finished with another customer. After less than 5 minutes of skillful threading and trimming, my eyebrows have never looked SO beautiful. And it cost $10! This woman does a fantastic job, period. I would never do my own eyebrows again...why bother? And why bother going to anyone else when she does such a great job for such a great price? The shop itself is quite lovely, too. I am so glad I stumbled upon this place (thanks Yelpers!). Asha, the owner is one of the sweetest people I have ever met, and she did a fantastic job on my difficult-to-groom brows. She would have me look in the mirror every few minutes to make sure she was giving me the look I was going for (which is awesome--many times I've just sat back and then been horrified at the finished product). Horrible service. The owner was less than polite and ripped my skin at two different spots. It still burns after almost half a day of getting it done. Felt like she was in a big hurry. Not enough time to even clean after threading. There were still a few strands left which I had to come home and use tweezers to remove. I usually go to Devon street where the ladies are polite with warm smiles. More than anything I never walked out of Devon st place with bloody spots around my brows. BIG NOOOOO!!!! There is one tall fat lady who is RUDE to the core. I did my eyebrows from her yesterday, got a bruise right in the middle of my forehead which even bleeded. In spite of that I was courteous to give her $2 as tip. Typically my eyebrows swell a lot after threading so I cannot really say if they look good or no. Since I stay in the same building as the salon, I went immediately the next day morning (my eyebrows were done at 6:55pm the earlier day) to get it fixed. Well that lady doesn't even look at my face and begins to yell that I should have told her after the eyebrows were done. Nobody can even make out that my eyebrows are shaped!! WASTE OF MONEY!!! Based on the reviews - I couldn't wait. My aesthetician (sp?) moved out of town and my brows are really hard to do right. Unfortunately, I didn't get the painstaking job that others describe - my brows ended up different lengths and I had to go home and fix them myself. No little massage either and there was no one waiting after me. It was fast and inexpensive, and she did pull up all the hair by the root, as another reviewer described. I've been coming here for a few years now for eyebrow threading and upper lip wax. Asha is about as sweet as they come and she takes a lot of pride in doing a great job. She has a colleague who also does a fantastic job (she snaps the thread a lot) but she always shapes my eyebrows beautifully. One time, however, she did break skin in a couple places around my eyebrow. She tends to thread a bit aggressively. read more

I had never done threading before, but Asha has converted me. This location is really convenient, and they are very accommodating to walk - ins - I dont think that I've ever made an appointment. It does still hurt but the eyebrow massage after takes out a lot of the sting. The price is great, its what I was used to paying in Cleveland and I dont think there is a cheaper place or comparable quality in the area. I came in last February after a HORRIBLE threading experience at a salon in the South Loop. I told Asha my situation and she was very understanding and explained to me that it will take some time for my eyebrows to grow in but she will be able to re-shape them and clean the area up each time I come in. After 6 months (seeing her 4 times) my eyebrows were pretty much back to normal!! I've continued to go to her and am still very very please with her work. Not to mention that she is very gentle and she gives you a nice eyebrow massage after the threading. And best of all she's only $10!!! read more

I came here upon the Yelp reviews and it is in my area. I was surprised there was no wait, and the woman who works there is very nice . The place feels nice too. I agree with the other posters, she goes the "extra mile" and asks "how you would like your eyebrows". My previous place in the state I moved from would just do everyone's eyebrows one way. At Threading Plus they gave me a more "natural look" than I am used to and I decided to try it out, she said it will be better than the really skinny eyebrows my other place used to do, but she was willing to do whatever I wanted with my eyebrows and goes "one step at a time" so as not to pluck more than you want. I have never written a review on yelp and I just had to write one on here about this place! After getting burned several times by several different waxing salons I decided I needed to try something else. I went onto yelp and found this place and just got back from there. I couldn't be happier and threading isn't really painful at all. It does feel similar to tweezing if not less painful. I'm pretty sure the lady that threaded my eyebrows and lip was the owner of the salon and she was super friendly and really took her time. There were other people waiting in there and I didn't feel rushed at all. I finally found a place that is inexpensive and not to mention great looking eyebrows! read more
