Okay... so did I get a silk press or did I get a silk press? My hair came out beautifully straight, silky, and smooth--almost too good. I'm a natural Black/AA woman, and after two weeks (plus workouts!), my hair still had that silky feel, which honestly shocked me. It made me wonder: was this truly just a wash, blow-dry, and flat iron--or was something else applied? Don't get me wrong, the results were impressive, but I value transparency, especially when it comes to natural hair. That's really my only hesitation and why I'm unsure about returning. Hello, I am a client at this salon but I am extremely concerned about the level of service provided by Jack-K. First of all she burnt off all my hair and damaged it past the point of repair. I was already ignoring my gut feeling in the chair and take accountability for not speaking up due to trusting the process. I also did not want to be confrontational because I am sensitive about my hair. My density and hair is already fine and she destroyed the progress Yehia and Sheryl made from my previous visits. These are the only two people I will ever let touch my hair again. Also I originally asked for a wash and blow dry because I was getting wig braids later that day , a press was not needed nor requested. Despite this request, a press was still given and she tried to up charge me. My wash and blow dry prices were $65-85, I was astonished she even said $105. Nevertheless I will never let this happen to me again, I feel played. I can't even discuss this at the salon because I was immediately gaslighted by her and another stylist saying that everyone has different pricing. I'm not able to find any consistent or standard price, thus again I will take accountability again and clarify this at each appointment moving forward. Again, my intent is not to slander this business, it is GREAT and a legendary salon. However, I stand on Jack-K is destroying your brand. If she is not qualified to handle all hair conditions, she must have the integrity to deny service or let someone qualified take the appointment. Thank you. I was recommended to see Yehia for a natural hair blowout, and I can honestly say he was wonderful--gentle, professional, and caring. Unfortunately, my experience before getting to his chair was extremely disappointing. I believe her name was Ms. Jack Kay or Jackie, and she handled my hair very roughly from the start. She shampooed my hair aggressively, then straightened it while repeatedly burning my scalp--at least ten times. At one point she told me that Yehia instructed her to style my hair, but it didn't feel truthful. She also said she "had to be that rough because natural hair fights back," which I did not find funny at all. By the time I reached Yehia's chair, my hair had already been damaged, and it is still coming out days later. I truly hate that he allowed her to work on my hair in that condition, because the difference between their care was night and day. When it came time to tip, I left one tip for Yehia, but she insisted I Cash App her husband for her tip, which felt very unprofessional and dishonest. I will return to Yehia because he was excellent, and I trust him to guide me on how to stop the breakage caused by the burns. But I sincerely hope that only he handles my hair going forward. I love Yehia & Co so much. I've went to them twice for a completely brand new look for the summer. I got a bob and dyed my hair blue. The process was so quick and easy. The owner Yehia, was my main stylist and he explained everything about the process and how to maintain my hair at home. They other stylists help too with detailing my badly tangled hair from the first visit because I had just taken out my braids I've had for a little over a year. Also, with the process of recoloring my hair for the second visit. Yehia even let me pay for my service even though I was short but he was so sweet and accommodating. He even gave me a free bottle of heat protector to help me at home because my hair wasn't staying flat with the heat and humidity. The vibe of the shop is so calm and peaceful. Everyone is so professional and really sweet. And they good music playlist. I've been looking for a salon that I can build a relationship with and keep going back to for anything with my hair. The people are relatively nice but no matter how many times you tell them NOT to cut your hair, they'll do it. And way more than you wanted. I just don't think that's very respectful of the client and their wishes at all! So I wouldn't suggest this place to a friend for that reason. read more

I asked for a trim and she cut off 5 inches of my hair and gave me a bob cut in the front. It is also such a choppy cut. I'm so sad I just wanted a basic trim before I got engagement photos done. Now I have to postpone the photo shoot by 6 months so that my hair can grow back. The people here were really nice but she clearly did not know what she was doing in terms of hair cutting. Fast forward three weeks I have contacted the salon a dozen times asking for a refund and every time I get a response that someone will call me back. I have asked to show me proof of the woman that cut my hair that she has a license and no one will get back to me. Went in for a 3inch trim. Came out with uneven layers (that I didn't ask for I like one length) and 5 inches shorter hair. Hair grows back so I'm not too upset that he didn't honor my 3 inch trim request but this can be a dealbreaker for many. I didn't want layers but again hair grows back. What I'm upset about is that my hair noticeably uneven by about half an inch. My left is longer about half an inch longer than my right. The layers are abrupt and are not blended in well with the hair. read more

I am never one to write reviews, but I would be remiss to not thank Yehia and Co for their exceptional service. First of all, I called for a same day appointment as I wanted to wash and blow dry my hair before a trip and didn't have the time to do it myself . Mind you, I haven't gotten my hair done at a salon for at least 4 years. When I arrive , I am met by a kind gentleman who told me to just relax and they would take care of me.. What!!!! I was like this can't be real. He takes my coat and gets me into a smock. I then go on to unleash my still braided up - 6 week old hair on them - I was a little embarrassed but not one snide comment from them - they made me feel at ease - a couple of the guys helped take down my cornrows and got me started . Altogether stellar service from start to finish - the gentleman I mentioned at the beginning ended up styling my hair - when I thanked him for his kindness and asked his name - It was Yehia! The owner of this successful business - he asked me to return in a week or so if my hair reverted from being away from the salon for so long. If you want your hair colored this salon is the best!! I have super long Asian self-dyed green hair that I wanted to make purple and they really cared about not using harsh chemicals to lift the green. They did a bunch of strand tests to see what would work and with a lot of effort eventually lifted the green and now I have the most amazing healthy purple hair! This is the only salon I know of in Chicago that uses Pulp Riot and it's been over 3 weeks now and still looks like it was dyed yesterday. I just had some extra highlights done in another shade of purple and the process felt very collaborative with Yehia genuinely caring that I love the result. My semiannual haircut is coming up and I can't wait to see what he does. I received three separate confirmations of my appointment with Ruby and was charged a small fee as insurance that I would not bail on her. Ruby texted me today, the morning of the insured and multi-confirmed appointment, to say that she would not do it today after all and suggested that I schedule another appointment on a different day for a "consultation," and a third appointment (the next available being a week from today) to actually do it. Even after I explained that I needed this hairstyle as scheduled for a special event, was losing an afternoon's wages for this (again, insured and multi-confirmed) appointment due to having taken time off of work especially for it, and was out of time to find an alternative because she waited until the last minute to take any action, her response was a blithe refusal to keep the appointment as scheduled. So, unfortunately, I guess I won't find out how my hair would have looked, but maybe you could try her services as long as you don't mind taking the risk of being left high and dry at a moment's notice. read more

A few weeks ago I was going to a party and wanted a shampoo and blow dry. I went to Yehia and saw Mohammad. I have very fine and thin hair and it always looks nice when a professional uses a round brush as it adds volume. After the shampoo, Mohammad quickly dried my hair (like I could do myself at home) and then informed me he was going to use a flat iron. I was very confused and concerned as this was not what I asked for. He turned the chair around so I couldn't see what was going on. I ended up with a head of curly hair. I was furious! He said he would "fix" it by straightening the curls with the dryer. It didn't work. Then he informed me it would be $50 (plus tip). He took my credit card and held it for awhile then informed me he was going to need cash. The entire experience was dreadful. Do NOT waste your time by going here. read more
