Everything was fresh and perfectly cooked, portion sizes were great (especially those drinks - massive, vibrant agua fresca for $6), and the service was beyond friendly and attentive. I still can't get over how good this pupusa was. The only downside to my experience was that I'm pretty sure my tip was added twice (there was an issue with my first payment attempt and we didn't think it had gone through - otherwise, I'm not sure how two breakfast plates and two drinks added up to $64). Unfortunately the wait was a little long for the amount of people there but it was worth it. It was just an horchata with a bit of coffee in it and the horchata itself is just a mix. For $8 it was a little bit of a let down. This restaurant overall is definitely a must visit. Wow. This felt like stepping into your family's kitchen and having a home cooked meal while catching up. Janita makes everything herself and uses only fresh ingredients. We were stuffed, the food was delicious, and, because we went on a slower day, we were able to talk to the staff and learn a bit about them and the history of their lovely restaurant. We waited 45 minutes and even still the entire order did not come out, we asked for a refund on the remaining food. The cashier was not very nice but offered us the refund in cash. Instead of to go order, sat down and ate a mean here with my step mother. She ordered the chicken soup which was a special item as it's not typically on the menu. But don't say it's going to be one price and then add $10 extra for no reason. I still gave them the benefit of the doubt. But $30 for one piece of meat ? First time here today and the food is insanely good. I ate inside and the service was as good as the food. I ordered a carnitas taco and two pupusas. The carnitas taco was very flavorful (loved the grilled onion in the meat!) and they included a big portion. The green salsa on the side was flavorful too. For the pupusas you can choose up to 3 ingredients. I did one with chorizo/potato/cheese and the other with carne asada/bean/cheese. They both were really good and I'll be trying more combos. Their agua fresca is very good and not overly sweet. I had the cucumber and it was a great compliment to the meal. They included a fried banana with the meal and I loved the flavor and texture. Insanely scrumptious foods, beautiful presentation, good portions, fair pricing, sweet service in a chill & happy colorful atmosphere. The hype is real, people! I was so torn between the Crazy Mañanero and El Volcán. Decided on the latter because I wanted to try their pupusa and it seemed like the more unique dish. (Although, doesn't seem like you can really go wrong here with any of their many options). It's a wonderful pile of Central American desayuno bombassss-ness on top of the best pupusa (revuelta) we've ever had, hands down. The ratio of masa to filling (which was piping HOT with yummy pork/ beans/ cheese) and the crisp shell was perfecto. The casamiento was another standout. The only thing I kinda regret was getting bacon for the meat. I thought it'd be strips from the photos I saw, but they were bits. Should've gone with the sausage or upgraded to the beef chorizo. Don't forget to ask for the spicy salsa. Also got the TBB Breakfast. Went with sausage for the meat option, and pancakes over French toast. The sausage is not your typical breakfast pork link. It's some kinda amazing (chicken?) spicy weiner (hehe) type of thang that they slice up into thin strips alongside fajita'd onions & peppers...and you just really can't tell by photos how delicious this will be until you try it. Also, their "scrambled eggs" are more of a perfectly fluffy omelette crepe thing. It works! Great hashbrowns. The pancakes were pretty big and very yummy. Also thoughtfully topped with powdered sugar. Not enough people do that. So good & so nice of them. Could only take down 1 so we happily took 2 home. Means the portions are just right. You can taste the genuine love they put into their foods. We were swooned by their highly creative fusion take on Latin cuisine. Super original and very delectable concoctions with fun names. We got the agua fresca mixed. Huge, hella refreshing, and just sweet enough. The cute owner lady kindly let us take one for the road when we headed out. She and her daughter were nothing but warm and accommodating during our whole experience. Gonna try the café chata next time. You must try their tamales. We took a chicken potato and pork bean one home and they reheated well in the banana leaf. So tender and delicious. Again, perfect ratio. Much prefer these to Mexican tamales. Could've been a leeeeetle bigger with more filling but for $4 each, no real complaints. My only complaint is that they close at 6. I get wanting to close on time but 90 minutes before you close?....ok I'll sit outside drove all the way over here to have French toast: was rock hard. Bananas cold. Asked for something to be done at the end of our visit. Was cordial the entire time because I didn't want to be rude. They refuse to make the situation better for me, not remaking or money back. Rushed us out and all just looked and didn't care. This is why people are Rude about their food. I'm too nice. Next time I'll tell you the cooking is trash and you should care about quality over cleaning up...you have a paying customer. And I recommended this place so many times . Never again.
