Trash food and trash service. Do not come here. The food was so bad and the server was awful.

The June Cork Pub - Scotch Egg

June cork used to be a fav but each visit we felt like the food quality kept dipping…read more We took our son and he had loved the place in the past. We only went because he requested it. We'd had too many disappointing meals and had written this place off. We ordered items that should have been easy. My son who will eat literally anything passed on his meal. He could not take more than two bites. We won't be back but sad about the decline. It used to be a really decent spot!

On a President's Day Monday at 1pm, the establishment seemed at just under half occupancy. I thought I needed to wait for seating, but staff said I could pick any table and they'd head over shortly. My friend and I ordered the sausage roll ($12) and scotch egg ($13) appetizers to share, and I ordered the bangers and mash ($19) entree for myself. The sausage roll, cut up into 6 slightly larger than bite-sized pieces, consisted of flaky and buttery pastry with herbal, earthy, and slightly crumbly sausage out of its casing. Imaging homemade breakfast sausage, but less sweet and more sharp. The accompanying brown mustard provided a nice contrast, yet remained relatively mellow. It also came with a bit of field greens so I could pretend to be healthy. The scotch egg arrived as a textbook example of a softboiled egg with a yammy yolk. The outer sausage shell tasted similar to that of the sausage roll. The accompanying chili jam cut down on the savoriness just a touch; it melded tart, spiciness, and sweetness yet also remained mellow, not overpowering the egg. My entree, the bangers and mash, proved exceptional. The peas were some of the brightest, most vibrant, juicy and crisp peas I'd ever had. Each one had just a slight burst at the bite. The caramelized onions adorning the mash had been browned down a long time, like what you'd expect in French onion soup. The mash itself, made from red potatoes, tasted robust and rich without being overly dense or overly reliant on butter (not shaming butter, but these potatoes deserve to shine, not drowned out). The bangers themselves possessed crisp, taunt casings with juicy interiors. I would almost describe it as "fresh" in the same way I would describe high-quality vegetables. Weird, but I don't know how else to express this sentiment. Service was a bit slow, probably from the Monday holiday. Since it was technically a weekday, I was able to order $4.5 bud lite drafts from the happy hour menu (Mon-Fri 1-230pm). Overall, I walked away quite impressed from what was me randomly picking a place to get lunch after being at White Birch Armories at opening to beat the range wait.

Important update edit: we got their "puppy ice cream" for our dog and he has been having explosive…read morediarrhea for 3 days. This has never happened to him before. They have hurt my dog. The bad : Service is terrible and nonexistent, you have to order at the bar and pick up your own food. Of course, they ask for a 25% tip anyway. They upsold a beer right before closing, and then told us we have clear off. With the full beer they just happily to sold us. Also, food prices are absolutely disgusting. See the photo with the menu - $13 for a pretzel. Just absolute cash grabbing nonsense. The good: the outdoor space is quite nice. Large lawn, lots of options between picnic tables and Adirondack chairs. Some little trails in a wooded area (for disc golf, but still little paths to walk). The beer is good, at least the farmhouse and Scottish ales.

Love the place. Ample, huge barn style building with awesome beers, a huge Biergarten for summer…read moreevenings, and a truly welcoming vibe. And they also have live music every so often. We came here after attending the massive Gunstock Ski sale. We now have an après ski place coming back home from skiing at Gunstock. Really awesome ambiance and even better service. Just superb service with knowledgeable and friendly bar tenders who explained the brews and the intricate flavors. We tried both their IPAs, the Palmer's Towm IPA and their Lake Cruiser. Both superb. Then a Pumpkin ale that was awesome and a Sour that made us pucker (for the good). Then we thought about food.... Their flat bread pizza, pepperoni and hot honey, is the only thing that beats the Ragged Mountain flatbreads.... And then we had their Bavarian Pretzels which were a wonderful compliment... Overall a superb late afternoon.

The food was incredible and blew away my expectations! Great views anywhere you sit! This place is a must if you are in the area!

There are a number of two-hour parking spaces around the area, and with a 1-2 minute walk, much more free options around. Located in the center of Berwick, you cannot miss it, and will probably be the standing-room-only spot when they complete the residential project across the street. Family friends came to visit and they love local brew pubs. So thought it was a natural choice. The layout is a bit odd, but once you figure it out, manageable. Whether you want to sit indoors or out, start as the bar in the back to order. They will page you when food is ready. Plenty of seating available and standing room for a large gathering. The menu was great and we all found something that worked for our tastebuds. We also had a young one with us and he was able to find something. You can keep the table open and try a flight or two or enjoy a full glass. Once you figure out your favorites for beer, you can grab a pack to go. Or as my friends did...a few to go. Thanks for a great afternoon. I apologize for not taking pictures which is unusual.
