For my birthday, I bought a banana cake from Three Tarts Bakery. I loved the actual cake part, it had a great flavor. The reason for the 4 stars is because there was way too much buttercream. About half of the cake was buttercream frosting, it was too much. By the time I picked off the extra frosting, I realized there was barely any actual cake underneath. That being said, the cake tasted great and was beautifully decorated

Very cute bakery! They have some nice patio seating as well as indoor tables, but wow was it busy - you know it's good if it's that popular. The one thing I didn't really like was the set-up - having never been there before, I was asked to order before I could see even half of the display case options because of the line. They seemed to be out of a lot of baked goods since it was afternoon, so get there early if you have your heart set on something! I ended up going with a chai latte, which was very good, and tried a few of their cookies. The pistachio rugelach and apricot bar were particularly delicious. Unfortunately I was waiting around for the latte and it turns out they forgot the order but couldn't have been nicer about it. Overall, worth a stop if you're in the area!

Three Tarts Bakery makes every occasion sweeter with their speciality cakes! Their cakes are always beautifully decorated, moist, and delectable. I also love that they partner with local businesses for their produce! I have yet to try their cafe foods but looking forward to it on my next trip to Northfield. Thank you Three Tarts Bakery for your exceptional service and cakes!

Breakfast sandwich, but where is the cheese?

I went here on a whim after a dentist appointment because it was close by. It was a cute bakery in the middle of a small shopping mall. The people at the counter were super friendly. I ordered a breakfast sandwich, a cappuccino, and a piece of cake, which totaled $25. The breakfast sandwich was not overall good; however, the bread was. I can't say that the chocolate cake was impressive either. It was fine, as was the cappuccino. For the price point, I'd want to be impressed, but I was not. I would give the place another chance if I were in the area in the future.

I hadn't heard of this place but was nearby and stopped in to get a breakfast sandwich. The sandwich was ok. But luckily I didn't realize that you pick up online orders on the shelf in the hallway because I wouldn't have stopped inside the shop. Their gingerbread cookies are sooooo good! That was a nice little treat. Their ginger chocolate chip muffin was something I haven't really seen before and that was pretty good too. I would happily stop in again if I was nearby.

Even cuter a shop in person than online! Initially, I found this delightful bakery online when seeking special desserts for my cousins 98th birthday. Today is her 101st birthday, so I worked with three tarts bakery to coordinate a couple trays of delicious pastries. The staff was very friendly! They organized and coordinated, beautiful platters, even tying them with a beautiful red ribbon. The shop is adorable! It is small and located within the shops at Northfield Village Square with plenty of parking. The café has indoor seating aside from pastries and coffee, this café has a nice menu. Highly recommend.

A lemon raspberry muffin and a blueberry muffin.

Small little cafe, delicious but a bit expensive. It was frustrating that prices were not marked clearly for new customers. I ended up going to the register blind. The lemon raspberry muffin was ok, mostly raspberry flavor, very little lemon. But the blueberry muffin was fantastic. I'd be curious to try more of their items (especially the cookies!) but it's definitely going to be a rare treat at over $5 per muffin.

Came in early right when it opened and grabbed a Buttermilk shortcake, like a muffin to go. It was flavorful and dense and moist. At $3.25 not overly priced too compared to some other places. The staff was friendly and very willing to help. Will have to try some other bakery items here someday. The shortbread cookies are quite good here too.

High white ceilings, pale wood, and the indoor tree give the café an unusually polished presence, while excellent coffee keeps it grounded in daily life. Every visit I've made has found it buzzing, with the easy social energy of a true neighborhood gathering place. In some ways, it feels like the next-generation version of what Foodstuffs in Glencoe represented years ago: cosmopolitan taste translated convincingly to the North Shore. Its character becomes even more apparent in the way the space shifts naturally from café to event venue to community gathering place. Spin classes are a particularly clever touch, and the Home Alone decorations during the holidays are a wonderfully self-aware nod to Winnetka's place in popular culture. Something is appealing about a place this refined having enough confidence to be playful, especially when the humor is so specific to the town around it. If I lived nearby, this would be an easy regular meeting spot: elegant, useful, and unmistakably of its place.

Wife had their Farmer's Market Benedict for $16 and I had their traditional breakfast (two eggs over easy, bacon, and Harbor potatoes) for $15.50. The food came out pretty quickly and was tip-top fresh and delicious. Our server was Mariela G who was friendly and also busy but still attentive. I always opt for a savory brunch bite. The potato pancakes are thin and crisp and pair nicely with applesauce and smooth sour cream. A lovely addition is Dollop Coffee specialty drinks like tiramisu or chocolate orange cold brew and lavender vanilla lattes, all around $6.50. I ordered a small stack of pancakes with spicy hash browns and bacon, while my husband kept it classic with scrambled eggs and toast. And wow...the food absolutely knocked it out of the park. The hash browns were insanely good. I never realized hash browns could pair so perfectly with pico de gallo, but now I'm convinced. The pancakes were fluffy and delicious, and the bacon was thick-cut and cooked just right. This is definitely a spot we'd come back to. The vegan waffle was generously sized and made fresh in the kitchen. It had the perfect texture--a little crispy on the outside, yet warm and chewy on the inside. There was just a hint of sweetness, so I hardly needed any maple syrup. The decor is very cool--I absolutely love the color scheme! Even the restroom was charming. When I walked in, I noticed a sign on the wall that said, "Hello Beautiful." As expected, the restaurant was packed, both inside and in the beautiful courtyard. Families filled the dining room, with children of all ages at about 90% of the tables. The team at Pomeroy has been so consistent and professional, that all of our dishes were delivered at a perfect and steady pace, and qualities remained high. Although we got a different server each time we went, they were all very welcoming, friendly, and attentive.  This time, Carlisle did such a wonderful job even though she was super busy, and she wished me a happy Mother's Day several times to make sure that my day was special.  I must mention that the friendly hostess greeted me with well wishes too, and said happy Mother's day again when we left. We had noticed that they had replaced the couch in front of the courtyard fireplace with more tables.  Who could blame them when they had so many patrons to seat.  However, the courtyard still looked gorgeous. Now on to the food and drinks.  I had a mocktail Bleu 75 ($13) that's my favorite, my husband had a glass of chardonnay ($17), our daughter had a Le Spritz Strawberry ($16).  We shared an order of Sea Scallops ($23) and a Warm Tomato Tarte ($19).  I had my go-to dish which was the Mediterranean Sea Bass ($38), I loved the seared skin that was crispy on the edges. Husband and Daughter each ordered a Spring Halibut ($92 for 2) from the Mother's Day menu.  We ordered 2 Strawberry Crème Brulee ($28 for 2), and I shared 1 with my husband.  I also had a cappuccino ($6). The check came up to $283.05 before tips (they add a 3% surcharge to each guest check, which may be removed upon request, we didn't).  As always, our dinner was very enjoyable and it's worth the money.  I had a very happy Mother's Day dinner, and it ended a wonderful weekend with high notes!  We will keep returning!

When we got to Pomeroy for dinner, we were seated in the farthest back room, one that was open-air ... the staff never asked us, they just put us there. The room was nice as was the weather, but the open-air room had gnats all over the place. Now we realize that gnats or fruit flies oftentimes come with wine servings ... and the Pomeroy has a bunch of nice wines, but the gnats flying around your face all through dinner was not pleasant. We ordered drinks to start, and found it hit-or-miss. The Watermelon Margarita seemed tempting, so we tried one. It came with a big smear of Tajin powder on the rim, and was not appealing. Once again, we thought they should mention this kind of thing before it appears. They replaced the drink, but it kept us off on the wrong foot. All in all, they still put our good food. Our complaint was the seating, the gnats, and the Tajin powder ... all they had to do was ask for our preferences and these could have been avoided. But alas, they drop to four stars.
