Came here yesterday for happy hour after checking out Wailea. We had Brussels sprouts (which was delicious), black widow roll and the 69 roll, and a mango Maui drink. The drink was good as the Brussels sprouts were good but the sushi was gross (tasted like bait), especially when you compare it to miso phats. I'm sure their other menu items are probably better since the Brussels sprouts were REALLY good, soft and sautéed with bacon. The other thing that seemed off was my Diet Coke, it didn't taste like a normal Diet Coke, just an observation. The service was good, our waitress was friendly and accommodating. I am adding another review of Threes post COVID. Today was my birthday before covid shut everything down my husband and I were regulars at threes every weekend we would go and sit in Joes section and have breakfast or lunch like clockwork. I was so excited to find that Threes was open for my birthday. We booked the table as special occasion almost a week in advance. When we got to the restaurant the hostess asked if we still wanted outside dining we said yes. When she sat us outside she sat my husband and I at separate tables 6 feet apart. We should have left then. She asked what the problem was. I asked we can sleep together and live together but not eat together? She said oh do you want to go to another patio we said yes we'd like to sit together. She took us to the back patio. The waiter we got asked what we wanted I said before everything shut down there was a blue drink with a flower and pineapple in it was it still available the waiter said and this is a quote "you gotta role with the times" when my husband asked about a dark beer on the menu the waiter said again a quote "the guy behind you has it that's the color". My husband ordered a beer and I got a different drink. We ordered a CA roll a Salmon roll and Salmon sashimi. The CA roll was slimey the salmon roll was discolored and tough I couldn't bite through the salmon. Oh and it was old and probably premade. The only thing edible was the salmon sashimi which I don't care for. The waiter was pretty much a no show until time to pay. When leaving I was angry and disappointed we had just paid 50 dollars for garbage on my birthday. I asked to speak with a manager I got a waitress I told her the issues and got "I'm not sure how to fix this it's so sad it happened on a special occasion." I really enjoyed the ambiance sitting outside on their deck... we started off with the IPA Lahaina Haze. It was light, refreshing and icy cold.... it went perfect our line up of food.... Kalua pork nachos, Short Rib with shrimp tenpura and the Lava roll. The nachos were fabulous with shredded pork it was on the pupu menu and was just the right size for 2 to share. To top it off we had more shredded pork because I ordered the Jambalaya (local version ) with shredded pork and 3 grilled shrimp on top. I have been to New Orleans and have had jambalaya and this was in no way close to the original but it was a really good dish and very flavorful. The side sauce was not even spicy but added it anyway. The Lava roll was good and by the time I got half way through the roll by mouth had a good burn to it :) . This is the 2nd time I have been here. Last time we ordered the short rib but it came with pureed sweet potato... this time with the shrimp tempura. I was not a crazy about the beef... it was tender and fell apart but maybe it really needed more sauce but without it seemed rather dry. I should have asked for more sauce but the tempura was the show stopper... this was the crunchiest tempura I have ever had!!! I really enjoyed the crunch !!! Went in last night to grab a drink, Sat down at the bar and was immediately told to leave and show proof of vax card. I get it -rules & regulations I'm ok with that. It was the way that information was delivered that I have a problem with. After I showed proof that it was safe for me to be there. I went back and sat at the bar and ordered a drink & appetizer. The bartender acted like she didn't want to be there and with her attitude I also didn't want to be there as well. I understand the service industry can be hard however if you don't have your game-face on and act like you want to be there. We just decided to try this place out at the last minute and I made sure we could get in so I used Open Table to make reservations. I had this bookmarked and our kayak tour guide also recommended this place too. So Three's was it tonight. This place is very Hawaiian looking with a great outdoor patio and live music but we sat insider which was cool too. We were greeted quickly by our server Jason and our water cups were brought out too. When you check in you get a free appetizer for every two entrees. So we had four people and our server allowed us to get two free appetizers (two check-in). This also came with chips and salsa. So we got the appetizers of Kalua Pork Nachos and Bacon Fried Brussel Sprouts. Oh my goodness. The nachos were so good. It had fresh nachos with tons of shredded pork, guacamole, cheese, tomatoes and jalapeños. It was so good. I mean really good. Just loved it. The Brussel sprouts with bacon was just out of this world good. It was amazing. Just loved both appetizers. Oh yea. Before our meals, we also had the green dragon and rainbow rolls. Fish was so fresh. Melt in your mouth goodness. Really loved the sushi. Top notch. So I had the Hawaiian ranchers beef French dip. It had slices of prime rib cooked well done with sautéed onions on a really soft bun. It was so good. Dipping in the sauce was just out of this world. So tender. So fresh. It was great. My wife and daughter split the Three's traditional ramen. All I know is it had these really fresh thick noodles with pork and a hard boiled egg. Got a bite and it was so good. So fresh. Crazy good. My son got the Hawaiian styled ribs. He said they were so good. Not spicy at all but really good. He was so full and couldn't eat the last rib and I didn't try cause I was stuffed too. So the service was really good. Jason was on top of it. Refills, checking on us and just so friendly. Found out he's an surfer instructor for the same company that we went kayaking. Really nice guy. It was the perfect place for us. After further to the right they had a patio area. Food - Drinks - I had a Stone IPA, a classic IPA. As I said earlier Dale checked out the place beforehand. It was all about their wine list, and he surprised the ladies with a bottle of Turley's Cedarman and the followed up with a bottle of Turley's Dragon. The table was in heaven with those two bottles. Dinner - I had an excellent cut of prime rib. A nice thick cut cooked to order with great seasoning. I know there were other things on the plate but that was just clutter. Over priced mediocre food. I was shocked when the $15 shrimp tempura came out that was the equivalent to an $8 roll I could get at a local teriyaki joint. The coconut shrimp was no better than the frozen boxed kind with the sweet chili sauce you can get from an Asian market. Overpriced and over-rated! First of all they sat us on the patio by the outside a/c unit so I had hot air blowing on me the entire time we were eating! We were seated early so there's no reason we couldn't have had a better seat! I didn't know until after it kicked on and started blowing hot air on me or I would have requested another seat (by that time they were full on the patio). We ordered an appetizer since they give you a free one! It was the best part of the meal, but again very over priced and not as good as the reviews and ads claim it is! We had the pork quesadilla, I would give it a 3 star rating. If the pork wasn't so dry it would have been much better! We ordered the Hawaiian style ribs and the Opakapaka which was the fish special of the night. I love this fish and it really is wonderful, unless its overcooked...and ours was! If you decide to eat here, and order fish, try it first and send it back if its not tasty and juicy! If you are paying this kind of money I should be done right the first time! The ribs were good but I have had much better! Again they make a big deal about these and they weren't all that amazing! The slaw was okay but tasted old and the presentation was fairly awkward and not plated well. A better side and presentation would have made this plate much better, I would give it 3 stars for taste alone. The service can sometimes be the saving grace for poor food, but I am sorry to say that this was lacking as well! Our waitress was either tired or upset or just out of it, because she just didn't really care about us or our experience. I tried to talk to a manager or owner, but they "were off catering an event" so there was conveniently no one to complain to! We enjoyed eating here on 3 occasions in February 2021. This spot is a great option if you find yourself in Kihei. Plenty of outdoor seating for a more comfortable/safer dining experience during COVID. Staff were all great with COVID protocols. Food was consistently great. We came here for sushi so we didn't try the ramen and other entrees. The layout is interesting, with an outdoor patio (with live music), a surf lounge/bar (with another live music performance) and an in-between dining area (presumably for grinches who hate live music and fun). We sat in the in-between dining area because the surf lounge was a bit too loud and the patio was packed. We started out with the coconut shrimp. It was decent, but they really piled on the sweet chili sauce. For dinner, we had the salmon and unagi nigiris, one of their specialty rolls, and shoyu poke. Being a Seattleite, I'm fairly spoiled when it comes to salmon, so I wasn't impressed with the salmon nigiri (it was a bit too fishy). The winning dish was the shoyu poke, which was presented in a small bowl with seaweed salad at the bottom of the bowl. I think it would've looked more impressive if it was presented on a larger plate instead. We closed the meal with the Lilikoi (passionfruit) cheesecake, which was really good. I think my favorite was a toss-up between the shoyu poke and the green specialty roll. I'm all for Americanized sushi rolls, but this one was slathered in more sauce than necessary, just like the coconut shrimp. We walked away feeling full, but I didn't think the dining experience at Three's was that special. For the same price, we could've dined at Ka'ana at the Andaz (not that comparing the two would be comparing apples to apples). Service was okay, my water sat empty for a bit and when it was refilled, there was a moth floating on the surface. I'm not sure if the moth had been in the water jug or if it had just taken a dive into my glass when I wasn't looking, so I didn't make a big deal out of it. I didn't pay attention to the other dining areas, but our little dining area kind of felt like an afterthought, making the ambiance a bit depressing and divey. I thought service could be more attentive and seamless, and the dishes would be better if they don't pile on as much sauce, so as to highlight the high quality of their fish more. One of my favorite places to go for happy hour! Three's has a nice atmosphere and a chill kihei vibe. The outdoor seating is a must. Most evenings someone is out there with a guitar and a great voice, adding to the experience. My husband and I went out for our anniversary dinner. The margarita's were 1/2 off and so delicious. We got the kalua pork quesadillas and as usual, the plate was clean. My husband got sushi and said: "this is the best sushi I've ever had. I could eat this all day." He's a fan. He loves his sushi. More margaritas. Now I'm full. So I just order the hurricane fries because I know my husband will order a large meal and share some with me. Fries were bomblicious. This place is a must if you are in Kihei. They have great food and live nightly music. The atmosphere is great and really makes it feel like you're in paradise. There's always groups waiting outside so be sure to make a reservation. We chose to sit outside which was really nice because there was live music and really pretty lights outside. Previous Yelp reviews raved about the Kalua pork nachos and they are absolutely to die for. The truffle lime aioli is Amazing and it really made the dish stand out from any other nacho dish. We also got the French dip sandwich and the traditional ramen. Both were pretty good but nothing could beat the nachos. The sandwich was a bit dry and the noodles were really salty but other than that the food was pretty good and we will definitely be back to try other things on the menu! read more

Great experience the food was amazing very filling and worth going back to. The atmosphere was relaxed and very calm the appetizer excellent we had the AHI roll and the pork nachos both were big enough to be an entire meal. The drinks were good excellent flavors and a good price. The main entrees was the ramen bowl and the hamburger. The sweet potato fries were amazing! Some of the best ever had could make an entire meal out of them. Our waiter Tim was friendly kept us entertained and let us know what to order. First restaurant we went to since arriving on Maui since we were staying in the area. They told us there was a wait and they took my number so they can text me for update. We decided to just wait by the door since we we're tired and hungry. What irked me is that no way we were told in the text that our table is ready. All it said was that it'll be ready in a few minutes and to head back. We would have came up to the reception but we noticed the person in charge calling out people's names (people waiting with us). So I assumed that we just had to wait until they call out our name since the text told us to head back. Another thing that irked me was that we were right there visibly waiting but the two ladies in front never asked us if we were waiting or if we needed help. After waiting too long, my husband comes up and asked about our table. They told us that they texted us but like I said the text only said that our table will be ready soon and to head back. SMH.
