Please think twice before renting from Thrifty at the Columbus airport. We rented a car on April 1st for the Easter weekend and returned it on time Monday morning No one was available to check the car in. We left it parked in the returns lane. The car has still not been processed. (today is April 15!) We are getting charged $64 a day and can't reach a single person that can help. Hours have been spent holding for the "customer support" and all they can do is tell us to wait. There is no direct number available to call the location. The number given to us by customer service is for Hertz, who says they are not affiliated and are completely unhelpful. Its been 2 weeks and the charges keep racking up. Been years since I had to rent a car from Thrifty's and a lot has changed. I actually prefer Hertz when I travel for personal reasons, but when it's for business, my choices are down to where my Travel Department books me. My most recent visit here did not start good at all. It was basically me and their service rep arguing about insurance. Long story short, I got my rental and out of there once my issue was resolved. This Thrifty's is located in Ohio's airport. One plus is that it's actually located in the airport which means no additional waiting to be serviced, no shuttle to a satellite location, and really no wait. Once your get your documents in line, you have to take a trip upstairs to pick up your car. Pretty simple process in my opinion. Price at Thrifty's is one of the best. Car selection really depends on when you're traveling and what type of vehicle you're getting. Overall, even though my experience didn't start off good, it ended well. read more

This is the office that supports the airport in Columbus, OH. This office took a $40 rental for my wife and turned it into $120!! BUYER BEWARE of deceptive and aggressive rental tactics and POOR customer service. My wife approached the rental counter and told the person working the desk she wanted only the car - no extra anything. The worker led her through an electronic signature process and verbally said "sign here to decline" over and over. Apparently she either made a mistake or deceptively added acceptance for LDW and Tripsaver which is roadside assistance. Upon return of the car my wife told the person checking her in that the fees were incorrect. His basic response was tough - go inside and tell them. My wife went to a manager who said "Sorry, because the worker outside hit send I cannot change the fees but call out customer service line and they will reverse the charges." We called the 800 customer service line (which is not open on weekends) only to be told "Sorry, you should have fixed this at the location and no we wont give you their number." The agent on the phone also told us the Columbus, OH does not have an incoming phone and that she would not elevate the call to a manager. She offered 2 - $20 vouchers as compensation and chided us to understand the rental process next time. Upon 5 minutes of saying nothing but "I want to speak with a supervisor" one magically became available who also blamed my wife and told her doing anything now was only a show of their good will. 1. The number listed above in the Yelp address is a direct line to the Columbus location - (614) 237-5800 option 0 in case they try to change it. The Customer Service Rep at the 800 line lied about the phone line. 2. The manager knew the company would not refund the charges. He had the ability to refund the charges (according to the supervisor at headquarters). He has also so far refused to speak on the phone to explain himself. We actually have a witness to his claims in the office and the lies he told. 3. We travel a lot. My wife does not rent cars a bunch but knows we NEVER accept any of the rental counter BS. She has an AAA card in her wallet and would not agree to pay for that service. She also managed only to accept LDW which covers almost the square root of nothing but costs the most when we have insurance and affinity agreements with credit card companies to cover all those items. The representative at the desk was trying to pull a fast one. The lesson here. First, make sure you have printed copies of what you are paying BEFORE you leave the rental counter (not a receipt with a pickup location that they gave my wife with no total - an actual complete printed contract). Second, beware of the high pressure sales tactics of this particular location and the horrible customer service they provide from their 800 number. Drop off: they're always efficient and courteous Pick up: SLOWER THAN MOLASSES. And UNAPOLOGETICALLY slow which is infuriating. I'm currently waiting on my car and have been for 25 minutes and counting. It's supposed to be ready and waiting when you get off the shuttle - that's their schtik. It's not even busy. I went back in and told them I was in a rush and asked if there was any way to speed things up. Never again will I go to this location. This was my first time with Thrifty. This location was rather poor in radiating a "welcome feeling". Yes, I'm assuming this store gets a huge portion of their business from picking up people at the airport... but going in, I felt like I was entering immigration at a foreign airport -- not splendid at all. The lady behind the counter did it for me. Her attitude and demeanor was extremely rude, and she immediately talked down to me, like I was a 10 year old - not appropriate! If you book with them, make sure you book through a third party such as Hotwire or use Kayak, the insurance is insanely cheaper that way, about 150% lower rate. In the event you return the car early, they WILL charge you an extra fee on top of your initial agreed upon total!!!!! Before my return, I called ahead to make sure none of these shenanigans would happen. I was assured it was not going to; HOWEVER, that was a total fat lie. Thrifty didn't reimburse me for the days I didn't use the car, unlike I was told on the phone. I was also not allowed to use the car instead of returning it for the remaining days although I had already paid for it. I'm pissed, that's essentially stealing. Thifty, your customer service and communication sucks beyond belief! I spoke to a manager on site and all he did was try to twist my words and say I was looking for a lower rate. I've been parking at Thrifty for somewhere between 10 and 15 years and have been a loyal customer - recommending Thrifty to my coworkers. Recently, however, their service has deteroriated to the point that today was likely the last time I'll park at Thrifty. As other reviewers have commented -- the drop-off is always efficient and courteous. However, when returning to Columbus -- the shuttle back to Thrifty has been a bit of a "hit or miss" proposition. Sometimes it's prompt (like today), other times you wait forever. My biggest complaint however is that my car hasn't been ready the last few times I've parked there. Today, it was well over 10 minutes AFTER the shuttle bus dropped me off before my car was brought out front, The lady at the desk said they were "short-staffed: but I was the ONLY CUSTOMER waiting for a car. And -- in the past - they brushed your windows, etc. - today -- the front window was clear but I had to brush the back and side windows before I could drive off the lot. Sorry - Thrifty -- but I think it's time to find a new place to park. read more

Friendly staff with valet service They offer many service options including detailing, oil change and will even get your dry cleaning done while you are gone. I feel bad giving them the one star, we left my Jeep there over the weekend, came home to find out my jeep had been driven over 100 miles. The rude lady at the office told me there was no way someone took my jeep off the lot,the room with the keys is always locked, not true last night when we picked it up, I could see into the room where the keys were it was wide open. Very upset about this situation and I am contacting the corporate office to resolve this issue! read more

Poor service at the front desk. I was told I rented a "Smart Car" which ended up not being true. After I was upsold I went out to find my car. Several of the cars were dirty and looked like they never even cleaned them after the prior use. The car I ended up picking had the low tire pressure light on which I was assured by the ouside attendant was no big deal. Turned out that indeed there was a tire leak and I had to fill up the tire several times over the weekend. Tried to call and complain and the phone lines were down. Will pay a few extra bucks to avoid Thrifty in the future. Can't think of one good thing about this Thrifty location for that I would probably give 0 stars if I could. read more

I have used this location for parking many times over the last 5 years for both work and personal travel. I am also a member of their rewards program. I left my car here in August'14 for a three day business trip only to return to a flat tire. Upon getting out of my car I could visibly see a metal rod in the tire. After searching around for 10 minutes to find the "manager" I was finally able to get help. I filled out a damage claim and stated Thrifty was at fault and responsible for replacing the tire. I spoke with the service shop manger who also stated it was their fault and they would order a new tire and patch it in the mean time since I was in a hurry and would be back in 3 weeks. I have been burned before so I have a physical copy of all this to back everything up. They quickly patched my tire and I went on my way...... Two weeks prior to my next trip I exchanged emails with thrifty to make sure A) they ordered the tire and B) they scheduled it to get put on my car. I got a fairly quick response that it was still scheduled to get replaced Upon returning from my business trip I noticed the tire was never replaced. I went inside and directly asked if I could speak to a manger/supervisor. The attendant stated and I quote "they aren't in the office today". This was around 6:30pm on a Friday. I asked then who was in charge to which they responded "I'm not sure". After a few minutes of explaining why I wanted to talk to a supervisor the attendant said their might be someone that is currently working at the airport who could help. Unfortunately I was at their parking location and this does me no good. I asked the attendant if this was a one time thing or if they always have no one in charge on Friday nights. Which he said he wasn't sure. I left as nothing positive was going to come from trying to get help. I emailed the service manager a few days later asking why my tire wasn't replaced and he stated he was on vacation and his backup was supposed to do it but he was on "Jury Duty". I ceased trying to get my tire replaced at that point as they could care less and I'm not going to waste my time. Long story short, the customer does not come first at this Thrifty location. Been using Thrifty Airport Parking for years when my company had a corporate account with them. Always great valet service and car was ready when I returned. But I've been away for three years. Started using them again when I started traveling from Port Columbus Airport the past few months. First time, I didn't notice it after I got home from a trip. Just thought it was strange that my quarters were missing from my car change. Second time, I did notice it because half of my coin change in my car was gone including a old dollar coin and a fifty cent piece were missing. Reported it to the woman manager (Susie?) when I got home. She apologized, don't know what happened, would give me extra points on my account. (How about you have a thief or two on your staff!!!) Today I got home from a long trip and this time my new coin cup with lid was completely emptied out with several dollars of change missing. Screw this!! Nice of someone at Thrifty Airport Parking to feel entitled enough to brazeningly steal money from their customers. I keep my quarters in there so I can have some change to wash my car. Went to counter to get adjustment and they told me to call their corporate line, which I did while I was still there. Left my IPhone car charger on the counter and nobody thought to give it back while I was standing in front of them on hold with their corporate for 20 minutes. I made a reservation through Orbitz on March 2, 2017 for a car for July 2-8, 2017. Upon arrival at the Columbus desk I was informed that they had no cars for me, leaving my wife and I stranded at the airport and no car. No apologies, no manager to talk to, nothing. Contacted Thrifty website to address concerns, no reply. I WILL NEVER RENT FROM THRIFTY AGAIN!! No customer service. Enterprise will always have my business. But our last three experiences with them have been awful. What is the problem??? Two months ago, we pulled in and had to wait ten minutes for a valet. Today we waited 30 minutes for our car. I was going to actually give Thrifty a very good rating UNTIL I got my bill. The agent at the desk was very nice and offered to add my wife to the rental so she could drive the car if anything came up. What the agent DIDN'T MENTION was that there is a $104 fee associated by doing so. My wife never even sat in the drivers seat or drove the vehicle. I called Thrifty customer service and they refused to credit me the $104 because I signed the form. I didn't notice any increased price on the form I signed. I was tricked. This is is a total SCAM. I have contacted my credit card company to dispute the charge but they said that since my signature was on the form, there might not be anything they can do. SO WATCH OUT. I hope her commission was worth taking $104 out of this hard working family man's wallet. I will NEVER rent from Thrifty or any of their associated company's ever again. I'M DISGUSTED!!! read more

It is truly unfortunate that you cannot select zero stars. The level of shadiness exhibited by the staff at this Columbus, OH location is nothing short of miraculous. It is worthy of a short film. My wife travels for work, and rented a car here. Her online quote was $23.14. She arrived a bit late for her meeting, verbally declined the additional insurance coverage, and agreed to have the car topped off with fuel upon her return. When she returned the car 2 hours and 15 minutes later, she was charged $114 for the rental. She drove 25 miles total, which we have documented, and had the car for a handful of hours. They charged $46.50 for fuel.... for 25 miles! When my wife complained, the clerk said "you are supposed to drive as much as possible when you select the fuel purchase." My wife tried to argue, but had to catch a flight and ended up just paying so she didn't miss her plane. I have spoken with 3 UTTERLY USELESS Thrifty corporate representatives. We didn't mind paying for the things we used, including fuel for 25 miles. However, we don't feel that this was a fair amount for services rendered. We tried to have the fuel refunded, and were told that gas was "Not a refundable charge." ARE YOU KIDDING? It isn't like the federal government won't let you give me my money back....You just invented a policy to make yourselves feel better about being a terrible company. After much arguing, I gave up, and decided to dispute thru AMEX. At the end of the day, it will cost thrifty well more than the $50 we wanted back, and we will never rent from thrifty again. This is for my experience not including the shuttle since I didn't utilize it. Ordering was easy, once I was at the airport I was able to do an upgrade. The gentleman was very helpful, just wish that I had thought to ask more about the car. My fault. New Chevy, so when you're in idle the car "shuts off" to save gas, which is great since I had the Malibu for over a week, driver everywhere and use only 1/2 a tank. Wow! Wish that there was another trunk release which I had to ask the attendant. Again, he was very helpful. I didn't get his name. On my return Asia helped and she was fantastic. She was so helpful. She even found me a trolley for my cases and car seat which was super helpful since my tiddler of course needed to go potty IMMEDIATELY. if you have a toddler, you know what I mean! I am only leaving one star because I cant leave 0 stars. I rented a vehicle for a route 66 road trip for my honeymoon. When we got to California one of the tires went flat. So I unpacked the car to get to the spare and jacked the tire up to remove the flat. Right before I pulled the tire off the jack broke so we were stranded in the California desert just past the Arizona/California border. I called Thrifty's roadside assistance and was told I would only be charged a service fee if they felt I used the jack improperly. (I have pics that show I did not and that the pavement was so hot that it was too soft to support one side of the scissor jack which had caused the collapse.) They told me they would call Nissan and have a new jack brought to us. This was around 4:45 PM Pacific. I recieved a call at 5:06 PM saying we were out of range from Nissan so they would dispatch a tow vehical and it would take about 60 minutes. At 6:10 PM no one showed up and it was starting to get dark so I called back to get an ETA. The rep said it would be 60-90 minutes to get someone there from the time of the dispatch and the dispatch was called in at 5:36 pacific. Well I'm not sure what happened between 5:06 and 5:36 pacific as at 5:06 I was told 60 minutes. I decided to go for a plan B at this point as I felt I was getting the run around. So my wife was calling tow truck services to get someone out here with a jack. As the 90 minutes ETA was breached from the 5:36 point I called back and asked the name of the tow service that was to be dispatched. The company the rep gave me was actually the same company my wife had been on the phone with for the past 10 minutes to get someone out there. So I asked her to get an ETA from them while she was on the phone with them. They stated they had not recieved the dispatch to send someone out. Luckily, less than 2 minutes later a good samaritan stopped and let me use his jack to get out of the desert just before nightfall. I would still be stranded there if it was up to Thrifty. I went to return the vehicle today and they had a $70 towing fee on my final invoice for the dispatch. I got the run around from the rep at the counter (seems like Thrifty loves giving people the runaround) and was told I would have to call corporate. Apparently the rep did not know how to use a phone or he was unwilling to help me. I will never ever use Thrifty again and I will go out of my way to keep others from doing so. read more

Thrifty car rental just lost a life long customer over a $40 transaction. Reserved a car on the internet. Went to pick it up and tried to pay with an account for my living trust. Because the card said living trust and did not match the name on my driver's license they would not accept it but said they would change the payment when I returned the car the next day. However when I returned the car they still would not accept the card. This is a warning for anyone who carefully plans their financial future - don't try to do business with Thrifty! read more

NEVER AGAIN. Dropped my car off 4 days ago at the Port Columbus airport location. Picked it up last night, and had to wait for it to be brought around. My ashtray was open, so was the cover on my cup holders and stuff had been moved in my center console. The guy who brought it around didn't even know how to turn on the lights. Then he wouldn't give me my key, and turned the car off and I had to wait in line again to get me key. I noticed that my windshield wipers would not go all the way down, and in fact... they were screwed up like somebody yanked them up to break through the ice. they were 7" up above where they should rest in the off position. Much more to the story, but of course no management there for 3 more days so I had to fill out a damage report. I'm sure they will deny doing this, but fortunately it was raining the day before I left and now that the snow is gone it is very clear where the wipers should be when off from the past swipe marks. I know they will argue about this, but there is no way I am letting this go on my 430 Lexus.....I've got the time, and will very quickly become a HUGE pain for them if this is not fixed correctly by a dealer and not an ape. I also saw a worker mauling a beautiful 740 BMW next to me with an ice scraper while I was waiting. When that guy gets home, he's going to wonder how his finish got all hacked up around the back window. I certainly know! IF YOU COULD GIVE NEGATIVE STARS, I WOULD I agree that this facility has serously deteriorated over the past few years. Just moved back to town and started using them again. first time in May. Got my car back, seats were all readjusted, heater and blower were set on highest possible settings, both seat warmers were set on highest settings and radio station i always listen to had been changed. called the manager right away. he didn't seem the least bit interested. On my most recent visit on July 11, I was asked if i wanted t take advantage of a special exterior wash and detailing for $75.00 while the car was parked. i said ok, and when i got back, was charged $105.70 (told that only the interior detailing was $75, the car wash was an additional $25) too tired to argue so i got my keys and went to my car, which had still not been pulled around. exterior was already dirty because it had rained earlier in the week. I got in my car, noticed large black marks on the driver and passenger door armrests. upon inspection i saw that the color had been rubbed off of the faux leather upholstery in both instances. i called the attendant over to see. he called some service manager over, they took pictures, i filled out a claim form and was told someone would get back with me. 2 weeks lat a woman named Lori from Hertz claims left me a voice mail message to call her back. I called her back 3 times, left messages, never got a call back. the following week, i sent her an email, and got a reply saying that i had never sent any pictures of the damage. i told her that they had been taken by the thrifty people, but she said they never sent them, so i took more pictures and sent them to her. few weeks went by, never heard anything. sent an email last week asking her to confirm receipt of the pictures and advise of next steps. same deal, she called back, left message to call her, did several times, never got answer, then email pops up telling me i never gave her the year, make and model of the car. replied that she never asked for it and that it was on the claim form i filled out. sent her the information today i get a call from her telling me that they aren't going to take care of the damage done because they claim they don't use any abrasives when they detail, that the marks look like normal wear and tear, and, even if the damage was caused when they did the detailing, "it could have happened to anyone." I will never park at thrifty again, they can shove my blue chip rewards, will not rent a car from thrifty or hertz ever again. If you want your car to be well taken care of when you park it for a trip STAY AWAY FROM THE CMH THRIFTY. Was about to rent a car from Enterprise cos they have never let me down. I went to the counter and they wouldn't take my debit card, as I am not made of money and had to have my mother help [I do not have a major CC]. They told me which ones did take said card. I went to Thrifty/Dollar Rental Car and it was very fast and simple. The gentleman behind the counter was really nice, and even said he upgraded me to a mid-size for free. I thought that was great. I didn't realize what I was being charged, though, seeing as I was in a hurry, because my fiancee and I were in a huge hurry to get to Cleveland so she could have her important appointments at Cleveland Clinic. We didn't take a flight in. We just have an old car that wouldn't have made the trip, so we drove up to Columbus from Athens [Ohio] to rent a car on a Sunday. The car was nice, the drive was nice, and upon getting to our hotel, we had a good sleep. After she had her consult with her specialist at the hospital and had some tests done, she was scheduled more tests that made us need the car for extra days. Mind you, we aren't the ones with the money, as my mother is the one paying for everything except 70 dollars which was my own money. Everything was short notice, but this rental company swore to me that everything was alright. Even the valet being 5 dollars a day wasn't that bothersome. However, it is now getting to be more than ever bad. We still have the car. We still are in Cleveland. She now has one more appointment on Thursday [it's Tuesday right now...I had to extend to Wednesday which threw my account into the negative and upset my mother cos she had just put money in thinking we'd be covered, but instead we were thieved from by these guys....and NOW we need ANOTHER day! Oy vey!!!]. So now here we are trying to get a hold of supervisors, management, headquarters, human resources.....everyone is hanging up on me, and hardly anyone speaks good fluent English. No matter where I go, the number is the same for pretty much every location. Takes me to the same places every time. I'm in a bind now with my mother having to pay even more unfair rates, my fiancee is in incredible pain and needs these tests done, and my mother....bless her heart....she's having our burdens on her shoulders through all of this when she's trying to enjoy her time with family for the month because they are her in-laws that came in from overseas. Enterprise was really good last time I rented a car because the management worked with us and understood the situation. Therefore giving us cheaper rates/discounts, management overrides, and helpful accommodations that really aided our situation before. DO NOT GET ANYTHING FROM THRIFTY/DOLLAR RENTAL CARS!! They will scam you in a heartbeat. I wish I could do something, and I don't know what to do to fix any of this. My resources are pretty much exhausted except trying to report to the BBB about it.
