Very 1969-ish, psychedelic. Once inside the restaurant, you'll feel like you went back in time. If you are into the late 60's music, then go here dressed like Janis Joplin or Jim Hendrix. One advice I can make to anyone who's thinking of trying this eatery is, you have to be very open-minded because what they serve is vegan food and is not anything like the traditional food items you see at a typical/normal restaurant. After browsing some photos uploaded by other reviewers on Yelp, I kind of set my mind on Bakun Burger. Upon arrival (after being warmly greeted by a few workers inside), I was given the menu by one of the workers. To my surprise, the menu is extensive. Although some other items on the menu tantalized me (such was the Yellow Curry), I went with what I had originally planned: Bakun Burger. And to go along with it, I picked one of the cheesecakes (raspberry.) The total came to $24.25. The lady gave me my cheesecake right away; it was a good size. Now once my burger was ready, one of the guys in the kitchen came to me with a small to-go box. I opened the container immediately there was my burger sitting in the container looking quite small. It was (however) quite the weight; it looked dense inside. Once I got to my car, I started my little feast. Like I said, the burger was dense with all kind of ingredients inside; it's quite the weight although it's small for the kind of price they charge $13 with some change.)I couldn't quite make of it as to what the everything was to form and make the black burger patty in the middle. It tasted ok; it wasn't super impressive however. By the way, this burger is served cold. I took a bite out of the cheesecake. This was also an okay-ish; it tasted like Yakult a little bit. I still have to say that I enjoyed my first visit to this unique restaurant because it's not anything like other restaurants. Excellent quality of ingredients and taste. I had the raw pad Thai bowl and it was beautifully balanced. Every vegetable and garnish was fresh and thoughtfully cut and placed in the dish. After ordering 2 items off the menu I waited 30 mins for someone to say "who's working on this(my food I ordered)" and then they got to work only to realize they needed to make some things that come with what I ordered. I love the idea of this place. I love that they make raw vegan food as I have to eat this way for health reasons. I have limited choices to eat out and we were visiting with our kiddos. Took them 45+ mins to get my food out. The wrap was really tasty, except for the outside actual wrap that was made from coconut, which was very distracting from the Caesar flavor of the filling. The pesto salad actually didn't taste much like pesto. It just tasted like basil, and had too many pine nuts. I love Thrive! It's my favorite place to grab food in Boulder. And it's the only raw food restaurant in the area. They have everything from smoothies to sandwiches. They even have crepes (check out the photos I added). I love everything I've tried, but the bacun burger is definitely my favorite. My favorite smoothie is Pure Bliss. Not only does it taste good and chocolatey, but it makes me feel zen. I love all of the crystals and the whole vibe in the restaurant. I usually order ahead and take to go. A few times I've eaten at the restaurant and really enjoyed hanging out in there. It's nice to have a living foods restaurant so centrally located in boulder. They food taste amazing and I love knowing the amazing health benefits I'm getting from eating it. The owners are really cool people too. I first learned of this store when I ran into the owner who was also shopping the bulk section of Whole Foods. He was friendly, approachable and passionate about food. Flash forward a couple years and Thrive is definitely one of my favorite go to's for a nourishing, fresh, and delicious meal. The ingredients are lovingly prepared and it shows. Nearly everything is made from scratch in-house so be prepared for a short wait after placing your order. The Pad Thai is by far my most favorite dish (spiralized zucchini, marinated broccoli and mushrooms, carrot, red bell, purple cabbage, green onions, cilantro, sesame seed, kim chi). Not only beautiful to look at every bite is bursting with flavor. The serving is generous and can definitely span two meals. When I'm feeling sassy or find myself at Thrive with a friend who's not feeling quite like themselves I always go for the Egyptian Sunrise. It is sure to brighten event the darkest day. It all begins with sprouted almond Mylk, plump chia Seeds, avocado, orange, dates, cacao, mesquite, maca, coconut, cardamom, almond, coconuts crystals. Totally decadent. Totally a must try! It's always an adventure at Thrive as well. There's seating both inside and out. Beautiful crystals and interesting reading material sprinkle the counter tops and patrons are always fun and interesting to interact with. What an absolutely delightful place! Everything there felt so full of nourishing energy and high quality ingredients. My friend and I had the Ginjah Bere (ginger beer) and it was sooooo good. I ended up buying a bunch of drinks to bring home - they have convenient to-go bottles too. The food and smoothies looked incredible and I'm stoked to check those out next time! Where to begin??? Can I just live here??? Places like this is where food magic happens. Places like this is where the soul reconnects with the nourishment provided for us by this living planet. I had the chilleaze, nori wrap, green Gaia for lunch. I also got the InJoy kombucha, adaptogenic chocolate, and tacno salad to go for dinner. Because why not!? The chilleaze was a take on chili and it was delightful. The nut and mushroom combo gave it a meaty and crunchy bit texture, and the flavor was very good. The nori wrap was my highlight. I really enjoyed the fresh veggies and kraut combo - great texture and flavor. I could've easily crushed two of these. The green Gaia was lovely. So many places over-sweeten green smoothies to make them more appealing. This one was just right. One could say a perfect balance was struck on all the ingredients. Kombucha is great - cannot go wrong there. The peach flavored one is what I went with. I've been longing for a peach kombucha for ages - yesss! Also try the chocolate. It's magical! I have yet to dig into the tacno salad but I'm sure it's as amazing as the rest of the good food here. Raw, vegan, delicious, nutritious. This place is the pinnacle of healthy eating. I came to Colorado for 2 weeks for work and this place was, for the most part, my go to meals of choice. I ate here almost everyday. The bacon burger and kale chips were hands down my fav. It's unreal the flavors that they are able to achieve with a raw burger. Burger pattie is really dense and the buns had sort of a bread texture which was a pleasant surprise. I took a co worker there who is a meat eater and even she enjoyed the burger. They also nailed the cheesy flavor with the kale chips. I've tried quite a few things off of their menu and honestly, everything I tasted I enjoyed. The chocolate coconut kale chips are also amazing it almost taste like chocolate candy which is insane because it's kale. I also tried the nori wraps and they are also very tasty the sauce that they pair it with takes it over the top. I tried the coconut and spinach ceaser wrap and they were also really good as was the coconut crepes and a few other things. No matter what you try here, chances are you will love it. The employees there are also SUPER friendly which I loved and their customer service is on point. One time I went there and they sold out of the bacon burger and he gave me a free juice. I thought that was just the kindest thing. The ONE downside of it is that they are a bit pricey and the portion sizes may not always be filling (i.e the wraps aren't very filling at all) but because the flavors and the people are just so spot on I couldn't take a star off for that. Any time my husband and I can find a place that offers organic food with vegan and gluten-free options, we are already excited. Not only does Thrive offer those options, but their menu is focused on providing top-notch nutrition while not skimping on taste. We are big fans. We also cook quite a bit at home: when we go out, I love finding things which would NOT have been easy for us to make at home. Thrive also delivers in that respect as well: I am still trying to figure out how to reconstruct the burger my husband ordered from there on back to back visits. I have enjoyed their Tacno Salad and Notchos. I had an iced tea they make in house and my husband order their spirulina lemonade, which he loved. Food you can eat and feel amazing about afterwards. Thrive's prices are not cheap and the portions are small, but as someone who buys the ingredients they use to make this stuff when I shop at home myself, I know the raw materials are expensive. We visited in August 2020 and were able to enjoy outside seating during the warm summer weather, but I am not sure what the cafe is doing to provide outside seating (if anything) during the colder winter months while COVID restrictions remain in place. We heard a rumor while placing our last order that Thrive may open a location in RiNo: still no word on whether this will ever become a reality, but we would love to see Thrive come to Denver. read more

I've tried A LOT of dishes over the past few years and every one has been a legit EXPERIENCE. There's quite a bit of outdoor seating; indoor seating is a bit limited. Raw, vegan menu has a lot of great yummy options. Between my other half and me, we ordered two smoothies (golden spiral and tropical sunshine), the pad Thai salad, and the Egyptian sunrise chia pudding. Between the two smoothies, the tropical sunshine was my favorite though they were both great. I really enjoyed the pad Thai salad. I eat zoodles a lot so it was right up my alley. The chia pudding was awesome - rich, full of texture, flavorful, and not too sweet. Too bad we were already full, or we probably would have ordered more items to try. They say Boulder is one of the best places for vegans in the US, I couldn't agree more! We enjoy RAW vegan but always have a hard time finding restaurants and we have not *yet* mastered raw vegan cooking. We've eaten raw vegan in many cities like Austin, LA & San Fran and this place is by far exceeds our expectations! Today was our third time at Thrive because the salads are unmatched. They're incredibly filling, and so tasty! They toss the salad with dressing which breaks down the cell wall of the greens so that the dressing penetrates to ensure every bite is filled with flavor. Tried the burger today and was not disappointed. I have some pretty crazy food allergies like citrus and chocolate, they made sure to check all ingredients and even customized the burger for me due to my citrus allergy. I've been to plenty other restaurants where they just tell me to order something else (which I'm completely fine doing because my allergies are ridiculous).
