distribute is for the live band open mic called "Sounds & Spirits" which is every third Sunday and has Ben Throw Social since the end of 2022. What more can you ask for with an open mic. They have a signed up list off to the side. They also have pre-registration for artist who want the band to learn their original music before the show and do not charge them to learn it. If you are a musician, they allow you to play on set as well. They have had some amazing guest celebrity and national recording artist. They have hookah now. The drinks are not expensive and the food is decent. This review was just for the experience alone.

My friends and I visited for the Super Bowl, and while the vibes were great, the experience was a miss. The chips, queso, and salsa tasted store-bought, and the queso was lukewarm. The Old Bay dry rub wings had good flavor but were overly seasoned. Nicole and Rain were great! Despite a drink order mix-up, they made up for it with a free round of shots. Our food arrived quickly, but drinks (2 shots, 1 Tropical Lemonade) took over an hour and a half which was a bit ridiculous. Tara (the manager) eventually expedited them and offered another free round, which was appreciated. There was a fun commercial bingo game, and great DJs, but the overall experience was frustrating. Audio/video issues caused us to miss pre-game highlights, though the issues were thankfully fixed by kickoff. Overall, if you're looking for drinks and entertainment definitely check them out, but I wouldn't recommend for food.

My family and I were here for a reunion and decided on Throw Social. It was such a fun experience! The service was prompt, the food was delicious and of course we played games and danced the entire time thanks to the DJ! We came earlier in the day because we had small kids with our group, and they enjoyed themselves as well! We had such a good time!

Food: I mean...they tried to kill us with how much sugar was on and the sugar cubes INSIDE those waffles. Chicken was good. It was seasoned. No one raved about the food. Service: the birthday girl wasn't pleased. Well, they brought me my waffles with no strawberries. I'm guessing bc everyone else got no strawberries. I did! Ambiance: the decor is beautiful. Well thought out. DJ: The DJ needs her own category! She was ahhhhmazzzing! She was a total vibe! I mean...I want to give 5 stars just because of her.

I went for my birthday brunch with my girls to keep the Miami vibes going and it was a miss. Elevator was broken so lots of stairs. I had Eventbrite tickets but no one checked or directed us. Bottomless brunch was advertised on Eventbrite but not available so everything was à la carte and the mimosa came in a solo cup (was way too much juice in the DMV) my fellow brunchers understand. Food was underwhelming (how do you mess up eggs), Staff appeared uninterested and disengaged but the DJ and bartender (guy) were highlights. We ended up leaving and going to Park on 14th...Seems like a night spot but brunch needs work. Let's collaborate and make brunch great again.

Throw Social is an entire VIBE! I was planning out a visit to D.C. last August and wanted to experience authentic go-go music. Many of the venues that were recommended to me were further out of the immediate D.C. area, which was a bit much for me as a solo traveler. Somehow I came across Throw Social and was made aware that they had live bands on the weekend. Going there was the best decision. I stopped by on a Friday night as they advertise live go-go bands specifically on that night. I arrived around 11:30pm and it was already bustling. In fact, a line had formed to get in. Admission is about $20 before 10pm and they accept cash or card. Upon walking in, I was thoroughly impressed. The venue is pretty big. There is a full service bar, stage and standing area, as well as cabanas for bottle service, and a whole area for games like jenga and ping pong. I purchased a drink and tried to find an area that I could post up and enjoy the music. The bar was very busy and the music was loud so it was a bit of an annoyance trying to tell the bartender what I wanted. Luckily, they have paper menus, so I pointed to my choice and she made it. I opted for the cucumber twist drink. It was refreshing and delicious. A bit sneaky though since it isn't strong. They also offer free tap water at the bar. Additionally, they serve food. There were a lot of great choices but unfortunately, I waited too late to request food and did not get a chance to try it out. In terms of the music, the live band was amazing! It seems they play in sets. I missed the first set however, they returned about 2 more times to play for a length of time. In-between that, the DJ would play a few tunes. The music had a lot of bass with a great groove. Lots of twerking going on as well and folks were cheering for more of the band. I loved it and it was exactly what I was looking for. In terms of service, it was limited to the bar. Pricing was decent, about $16 for my drink. The crowd was a mature mixture of what seemed to be late 20s to late 30s. It was packed but everyone seemed respectful of space. Overall, it was a great time. I can't wait to return and I'd definitely recommend to others. Seems like a great place to celebrate a special occasion or have a night out with friends.

I went to Throw Social on a Saturday morning for a birthday brunch. We rented an indoor cabana for about three (3) hours. The atmosphere is very colorful and the venue is huge with outdoor seating. There's a few bar stations and games throughout, live DJ and huge dance floor. The music was really good and the customer service was great. We had a large party and our waiter was very patient and attentive. For these reasons, I would come back. The day vibe was great so I'm curious to see how it is at night. Unfortunately, the food wasn't anything to brag about. Not bad, but not great. I got chicken & waffles and the waffle was very sweet, I didn't finish it. I did like that the chicken served with the dish was wings versus chicken breast. The drinks were really good and the prices overall were great as well. Overall, I'd recommend this spot. I think it's a good time for sure.

If you're looking for a place to have fun then this is it. The vibes are perfect for dancing and having a great time. The DJ played a variety of throwbacks and current hits that had us moving. When I arrived around 3 they were still doing the brunch menu but they switched over at 4 to the dinner food. It was pretty easy getting a drink in the beginning as it wasn't too busy but it did take a while to get the bartenders attention when it got crowded but they tried to move through people as fast as they could. The vibes are definitely lit and fun. It's great place to have bday celebrations and group events. I would definitely return and want to check their outdoor area next time too!

This whole place has the coolest overall vibe! Imagine the ultimate indoor BBQ vibe with sick drinks, a live DJ, rooftop, games, and wide open space! I came with friends early on a Sunday for brunch and we were the first ones there but folks started trickling in. Had we not have to catch a train I def would have stayed longer! I ordered the Caesar salad and it was quite filling, I actually couldn't finish it. You can rent cabanas on the "lawn" and I'd totally recommend it if you have a bigger group. With a group of 4 it's not necessarily worth it.

Please note that this review is solely based on the ambience and the games as we didn't eat or drink here. Throw social is such a vibe! If you are looking for an engaging, active outing, where you can "lay your hair down" and release that inner kid, this may be your jam! Not only is Throw Social beautifully decorated, the options of games are also super fun. The game options we saw were ping pong, beer pong, big Jenga, and the over sized tic tac toe. There is also a DJ that plays all the jams. Needless to say, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. One thing to note is that there isn't a cover charge until maybe 9pm. As for parking, there is an abundant amount of street parking and garage parking. If you are near by, I definitely recommend you visit.

So I decided to have my birthday here, and wow I was so disappointed. The music was way too loud for the type of venue. How can you be social if no one can hear you? Putting in orders was near impossible, because our poor waitress was working both UPSTAIRS and DOWNSTAIRS. I felt bad for her and hope they learn to manage staffing better. Everyone was confused on staff. No one knew the menu or where orders were going. They were running a birthday special, so my friends ordered it for me. They had to fight to get my dessert and I believe I was charged for the drink that was meant to be free. There was no sparklers or sign. We were thankful to at least get the dessert like nearly an hour later. It was so stressful for something so simple. It was also hot. SO HOT. There were barely people there, so I can't imagine if the place was crowded. The only thing I enjoyed were the drinks, and I wouldn't come back for just that. Overall, this was one of the worst experiences in the 7-8 years of living in the DMV. The margarita tree is fun, but with everything else, would never come back.

Whew let me tell you I had a time here! The atmosphere is definitely a vibe. It actually serves all generations if you ask my opinion. I came in on a Saturday & although I wasn't to thrilled on the cover charge b/c I've been on days where it's not required but the drinks & service makes up for it. The music is a hit or miss but the crowd definitely knows how to sway & find the rhythm. If you ever go take you and the girlies upstairs and find bartender Allie. She made the night for everyone. Never missed a beat, she made me bomb ass margaritas and kept them coming, my friends were on the shots and she was right on time, even gave us a lil dance impromptu. Her energy is unmatched & her genuine hospitality made us feel less embarrassed when one of our friends got a lil too wasted. She offered water and checked on us the entire night even when we moved from the bar. That goes for that whole little area. They clearly work effortlessly as a team. I enjoyed and love my time spent there. Definitely recommend 9/10. Drinks 10/10 , Bar Staff 10/10, Food 7/10. read more

My wife surprised me with a date to Kick Axe for our one month anniversary and we came upstairs to Throw Social to carry on the festivities. We only ordered wings and pizza, both were great (I recommend buffalo wings) but the service was better! Our bartender Nkechi truly mastered the art of mixology and conversation. We will definitely be coming back for the wings, pizza and company. It was a taste on Miami in DC. read more

Seems like a very cool place, but that is deceiving. I can't speak about upstairs, but the downstairs bar needs customer service training. I get that they're swamped but that doesn't give you the right to disrespect people. I may come back for the activities they offer, but I will never buy food or drinks from this place. Taco who works with the axe throwing is excellent on the other hand. read more

I rented a cabana for my birthday, expecting, at least to get a somewhat of a VIP experience. The waitress didn't come to our cabana until a half an hour after getting there and didn't take our drink orders until after an hour of being there. By the time we got our food, it was only 20 minutes left of the two hour rental. They did offer to extend the time, but overall the service was not what I expected for VIP the food was extremely spicy and underwhelming. The games were fun. Cabanas not worth the money. read more

Aesthetically it's a cute space and beautiful outdoor patio but that's about all this place really had going for it. We went on a Sunday for brunch at 12:30 and it was pretty empty so that was nice. Placed our orders for the bottomless mimosas and ordered some items off the menu. A few minutes later the server returned to let us know that the items we requested (pulled chicken sliders) were not available for that day. Okay, no problem. We ended up ordering breakfast tacos, some wings and another appetizer (some egg casserole). Without asking, the server returned with the food and said they were unable to make the breakfast tacos and have us a chicken burrito instead (not even remotely the same ingredients). In the spirit of not wanting to make their job any harder we settled and accepted the food. The rest of the items were brought out and they were lukewarm and not microwaved properly. Only the center of the casserole was lukewarm and the rest was cold. Now I understand it's a brunch place so didn't expect any amazing quality drinks or food but the drinks were terrible. The mimosas tasted like they had natural light beer mixed with orange juice and the margarita we had ordered tasted like limeade from a grocery store. In all honesty I don't think this place is even remotely worth the price with respect to food and drink quality. Overall the service was decent but that can only go so far when everything else fell short. Recommend trying other brunch areas around DC before considering this place. read more

This is really two reviews in one as the building has two different bars in one. I debated whether to give 2 stars, but I eventually decided on 4 because the service really was good and the staff are so friendly. The ax bar first. This is the good bit. Super nice atmosphere with a good range of drinks considering the small counter. Lots of staff but also lots of customers. A bit of a wait but everyone was super friendly so I didn't mind. I didn't eat but the food others where eating looked good. The axe throwing look amazing and I will definitely be back to try it out. Next. The beach bar. What can I say? Looks like it was designed by Barbie on PCP. Did they look at the ax bar and think We got that so nice, let's do the complete opposite upstairs. Music was awful. Good I suppose if this was 1995 but its not. Furniture is cheap and nasty and so are the games. Except they are not cheap. $20 to play curling on a plastic floor? I dont think so. The people playing looked like they were not enjoying themselves either despite the best efforts of the staff in beach shirts.. I would really like this place to work as I am often in the area and I will definitely be back to try ax throwing. The service is good and I would have given it 5 stars but for the horrible beach bar and it's terrible music. My dad would probably like it up there. Enough said. read more

The events team at Throw Social is a dream. Not only is the venue fun, lively and filled with spaces for any type of event, the team that works with you is super welcoming and accommodating. The new stage in the main room is perfect for any sort of presentation style meeting with the added fun of the bar and games afterward. Throw Social isn't your average wedding venue but it was perfect for us. We partied like rock stars. Staff treated us like family. Shout to Octavia - multiple guest raved about her bartending skills. Hands down the best night of our lives and choosing Throw Social was one of the best decisions that we made when planning our wedding. The website is a lie. There is no bottomless mimosa and Bloody Mary deal. The food menu on the website does not actually exist, they only have about 5 things to order (and the guacamole someone did order was disgusting). Even after emailing them and asking about making a reservation for bottomless a few days before we came they didn't correct me that the bottomless splashed all over their website is for FLORIDA and instead just responded that I don't need a reservation. We arrived at noon right when they opened and the staff was clearly not set up for the day. There was no DJ/good music until about 2:45 when our reservation was ending. I understand that probably majority of customers come in the middle of the day but I feel like we should've been able to have the same experience with the music and the DJ when we came in at noon. The place was visually amazing. The decoration's were great and it seemed like the vibe would be amazing. I had a big group so we rented a cabana and once we started to order food and drinks we were disappointed. The menu was very small so not a lot of food diversity and it didn't taste amazing. The food came out on these cardboard trays from like a football concession stand and since the place is so nice we expected better quality and presentation. Also, the restaurant had decided not to serve the patron towers which a lot of people in my group we're looking forward to. read more

This place is good for literally the atmosphere alone. Music is beyond trash, the games are chaotic and all over the place and very much overpriced. Food is garbage, just not worth the money you'll spend here. The games are too expensive for the small time limit, but I guess you can get some cute pics. Went here for my hubbys birthday and won't be returning. If you get a cabana you the service is great... if you don't it's trash. We had a cabana the time ended...we moved to the open area and the servers barely came around. You could see the servers literally standing around at the bar. You go to the bar to get a drink they are just rude... never again because of the shitty attitudes and service. read more

Great new and exciting venue in Ivy City! Brings experiential to a whole new level. The ambiance is Miami Chic, and doesn't disappoint. The vibrant pinks and blues with flamingos and cabanas transport you to Florida right here in DC. Half of the venue is dedicated to curling on indoor platforms and the other is Football Bowling, knocking down bowling pins with footballs and I have to say is much harder than it looks but we had a blast. The entire venue is immersive and so much more fun than sitting at a bar, but if that's your thing you can do that here too. Our party of 6, there for my wife's birthday enjoyed axe throwing and then curling and all the beverages and food. Service was great! Michael the manager and all the staff were most helpful. The gent who taught us to throw the axes (proud of his mustache!) is a real customer service gem. He made it really fun for all. We will be back! read more

I celebrated my birthday here last night and it was the best decision ever! I had an AMAZING time and all of my friends and family loved it. Frank and Shane were sooooo helpful and super friendly. They did an awesome job following the social distance protocols. I definitely understand the troubling times during Covid and recommended this venue to all of my guests that attended yesterday and some that didn't attend, for their future events. Reservations are required and you have to put down a $10 nonrefundable deposit that goes toward your bill, which makes sense because the space is small. Ideal for 1-3 people, not a group spot. The Salvadoran/Taiwanese flavor combo infused throughout this menu is its calling card. It's such a unique flavor combination and genuinely something I haven't seen before, and the menu does a beautiful job of letting both cuisines shine without one overpowering the other. The drinks are inventive but actually well-balanced, and the food does the same thing in small, snack-y portions perfect for pairing with tasty cocktails. My (kind of indulgent, but well-worth it) pre-dinner drinks order: - Lights of the Night Market (Ford's gin, Mal Bien mezcal, genepy, pandan, coconut). Loved it! This place for sure has to be on the top places to visit in DC. My sisters and I were visiting from Virginia for here 30th. She saw this place on TikTok... Needless to say we were fans from the moment we got off the elevator, being welcomed with such enthusiasm and bright smiles by the guy and the girl behind the bar waving " Hey Y'all welcome to throw social". Being that our reservation wasn't for another 30/45 mins the receptionist (shay) suggested we chill at the bar. It's was no shock that the moment we sat down and got comfortable the bartender introduced herself & her coworker If I'm not mistaken it was "Nena" and "Corey" - she suggested we scan the barcode and take a look at the menu. I ask what's her favorite drink her suggestion was a lullaby. Corey yelled "All her drinks are bomb". My husband and I ordered a lullaby, and bourbon bramble. We also had the stake satay with chips and guacamole. The guacamole wasn't the best, but after Corey squeezed some lime in for us it was just as good as the stake. I recently visited Throw Social with high hopes for a fun evening out, but unfortunately, my experience fell far short of expectations. Firstly, the food quality was abysmal. I ordered a few appetizers and was shocked by how bland and poorly prepared they were. It felt like they had been sitting out for hours before being served, and the taste was definitely lacking. For the price they charged, I expected much better quality. Secondly, the security staff were unprofessional and downright rude. Instead of making me feel safe and welcome, they made me feel uncomfortable with their abrasive attitudes and unnecessary aggression. It's unacceptable for a venue to employ such disrespectful individuals, especially when patrons are there to relax and enjoy themselves. And to top it all off, the prices were exorbitant. Not only did I pay way too much for subpar food and drinks, but I also felt like they were constantly trying to squeeze every last penny out of me with hidden fees and price gouging tactics. We brought our company (20 people) for an afternoon of axe throwing and games and it was fantastic. The vibe/decor really sets a great atmosphere from the second you enter. Everyone was taking group photos, laughing, etc. Perfect ice breaker. The staff on-site went out of their way to make sure we all had a great time. Octavia upstairs at Throw Social definitely made it fun. We started downstairs in their "lodge" throwing axes and then went upstairs to Throw Social to play games, have lunch and more drinks. i would not have expected a build your own taco bar, but that's what we got and it was perfect for our team. We attended a free social event over the weekend, and we had a great time. The main dance floor was open, and we had to walk up a staircase to get there. There was a bar when we entered and another bar on the side with a different DJ playing various music. They had tables set up for a game that was first come, first served, so we could play while dancing and drinking. We didn't eat any food, but the drinks were very good. Went here with some friends for my birthday and had more fun than I thought I would! The aesthetic is really cute and the bar moved pretty fast considering how many people were there. The staff was very accommodating to my group when we missed our reservation for football bowling due to a traffic accident on the way there. I just wish there was able to be more space for seating/tables. Our food also came out cold. Food/drinks are expensive. read more

I went to the Opening Night event with a few friends and we had a blast!! The decor is absolutely gorgeous and the vibe totally rocks!! We really enjoyed all the games---Axe Throwing, Football Bowling and Curling---and it was fun to see everyone else there laughing with their friends and people they just met. We were there for 2 hours, but could have easily stayed a whole lot longer. read more

This place is a wonderful environment. The waitress Erin is an amazing person. She went above and beyond for me and my friends. The ambiance is very nice and it passes vibe check. Hawaii blue is a great drink. Their steak satay was very delectable. Definitely recommend! read more

Great place. On the weekend. Opened late. Not a huge line. No cover charge. Great hip pop music. Dj is very engaging. Smaller but nice dance floor. Bar tender quick and attentive. They have couple of couches. You can chill. People watch or sit down enjoy your drink. read more

How awesome is this place. The colors and the self setups are great. It's so much fun. I accidentally dropped here after trivia and I'm so glad that I did. They had karaoke going on and all props to the DJ who kept the party going. read more
