I have other reviews to write; however, needed to get this one out before I forget. Hosted an event here and the experience was terrible. The food was horrible, service was even worse than the food. For one side of the venue (opposite where the DJ is) there was only one server. It took one of the guests over 30 minutes to get her order. My beef empanadas were cold as soon as I bit into them, and my onion rings were cold. My drink didn't come with the pineapples and was weak (I ordered the Hawaiian drink). Also, one of the guests was military, when asked about the 10% discount that is advertised on ALL of the tables the waiter told us this is only for cabanas. Now when I came here for the first time with Yelp, I had a great experience. I guess they pull out the red carpet for Yelp events. I will not come back to this place ever again. I've been here for a couple of different events, and I'd say that the staff at the axe-throwing counters are very professional. You'd have to finish axe-throwing before getting alcohol, which ensures that nothing crazy or dangerous happens during the event. They are nicely decorated, with LED light signs, karaoke stage that you can sing in, giant Jenga and connect four for you to play with, and sand throwing outside. I enjoy their pizza flatbreads, which has a good amount of crust-to-cheese and toppings ratio. Other than that, the food here is mediocre and nothing special, but if you are here for the events and not solely for the food, then this is the place for you. SUPER DISAPPOINTED!!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND doing BOTTLE SERVICE at this establishment !!! Two Fridays ago we made a reservations for a party of 10 to see our fave band for my friend's birthday & WASTED 1200 at this establishment. Upon arrival there was SOOO much confusion about our reservation that was made way in ADVANCE. As we are paired with the bottle girl the NEW owner whispers to her 3 bottle minimum... MIND you on the website we reserved a 10 person $600 minimum table RED FLAG #1. RED FLAG #2 happened immediately after ... as we walk over to our table the bottle girl says she's "holding" the LAST table available for another party ... WITHOUT cross referencing to see if we were in fact the party she was waiting on. After about 15 minutes of that we are finally shown to our seats. We arrived early so we walked around to mingle and wait for the rest of our party as there were only 4 out of 10 of us that had arrived at this time. RED FLAG #3 pissed me off the most!!! As we are standing at the bar a woman who I assume to be the manager walks over to us and says "hey are yall planning to go back to the table? ... I sat 2 people at yall's table." As someone in management what since did that make whatsoever ? We had only been in the establishment about 35 mins at this point and 30 of those minutes were spent trying to find RESERVED seating. Why would we not go back to the table ??? We just got here !!!!!! Of course, we respond we DO INTEND to go back to our reserved table... she then proceeds to say she needs to escort us over. Of course when we got back to our table there was about 6 people seated at our table. Why are we being escorted back to our table are we not allowed to mingle around the establishment if we have a reservation? Then the one mixed drink I did have had black residue in it and so did our bucket of ice for bottle service. I'm assuming there's something wrong with their ice maker We also did not receive any of the "Complimentary welcome shots" that we were supposed to get with the table. Overall, HIGHLY disappointed by this establishment. This was my second under whelming experience with this establish. The actual bottle service wasn't good either. Every time we wanted to order something she was nowhere to be found, she's also appeared to be on some type of substance or maybe drunk who knows. Lastly, the sections at throw social have horrible views and are just tacky lawn furniture. I was hoping the new ownership would really get this place in gear but I've lost faith. Nothing was worth $500 let alone the $1200 they made us spend that went against what their website says! P.S. PLEASE FIX YOUR ELVATOR !! If this place was just based off of looks it would be 5 starsss. But this isn't the case. Where do I start... Attentiveness is not a number 1 rule here.. we waited so long for someone to take our order. Also after the first time they took our order it was hard for them to return again to do a follow up.. Another thing that bothered me was my drink man!!! If you read my reviews you know I love my drinks.. I ordered a simple rum and coke.. thing tasted like flat coke with no rum... I was like oh hell nah lol so I got a beer cuz how could you go wrong with that right.. I guess everything is flat in there lol beer tasted flat.. my friend I was with had the little flashy drink tower which they complained that it was watered down and basically tasted like juice. Enjoyed my visit here for SAD Brunch on Mother's Day. The drag show was great, but we had a very unideal seating location. I also didn't realize that the menu was only the buffet. We paid for it but we're disappointed by the offerings so we wanted to order some other food off the menu but we weren't able to. They also need a few extra servers bc the drink situation was very slow. Somehow 3 buffets and 3 bottomless mimosas and tip cost $300+. Such a fun place for games & drinks in DC! Absolutely love the decor and overall vibe. Cute place to take photos with friends and just kick back & relax at the tables or the cabanas with some aesthetically pleasing drinks. They also have a lot of games like football bowling, axe throwing, etc. We played iceless curling (this was back in December 2021). Even though we didn't know the official rules, we had a blast. While we were there, we believe it was the owner (or someone who runs the place) who was talking to us and he was so friendly! He was giving us tips on how to play, as he was working on uninstalling the other curling play area because he was explaining to us that it will be replaced by new games and told us that we were the last two people to ever play iceless curling there sweeetttt! I believe it's been replaced by new games like darts and table ping pong since. Beware!! I was having a good time vibing to the dj. My jacket was stolen from my table but ironically the "waitress" recovered it way across the room near the food $200 was stolen from my wallet. But at least my wallet was recovered which contained my ID. Then when I saw the bill of course other things was added to it. Watch your surroundings some if the workers are sketchy. This place is LIT! I had a really good time. The bartenders were hype, the vibe was hype, all of that. I was there for a birthday celebration, and the first thing we did was sit at the bar. We had a reservation that wasn't starting for about an hour or so, so we hung out and had a couple of drinks. They have really good stuff! I had a tasty strong rum & pineapple to start, but then some fancy pineapple cups caught my attention. I inquired about them, and you can buy them, keep them, and refill with painkillers. They make a great painkiller! When it was time to football bowl, I was shocked and intrigued at the concept. It's basically corn hole, but with bowling pins and a football instead of bean bags and holes. It's REALLY fun. And on top of that my team one so heck yeah! After our game, we then proceeded to a cabana that was purchased, and we had a grand ol' time! This was also my first time getting a good look at the rest of the floor. There's a ping pong table, giant Jenga and some other cool things. The lighting and the decor is really something! All in all, this place is a blast and I really have no complaints about it. Visited THROW Social with my husband on a Friday night, date night. There was a $10-20 cover charge PP; I can't remember. The ambiance was nice. I loved the decorum! The concept is on point. While I wasn't expecting such a young crowd, everyone was polite and was having a good time. The DJ played a variety of genres of music. The food was good, but nothing to write home about. Service was good as the servers and bar backs were attentive. The drinks were extremely weak and overpriced and watered down. We went to Throw Social after our wedding to celebrate with a group of our friends. We reserved two cabanas, and were told that it would be a $750 minimum, or two bottles of an equivalent price, which was perfect. As we were seated the waitress (who I will get back to in a second) told us that there would now be a $1300 minimum, or 4 bottles of an equivalent price. This is not at all what we were told when we reserved, but this was not a problem, either, as we knew with the amount of people coming in and out (20-30), we would most likely order another bottle or two. We also were given a free round of shots, which was appreciated. However, the wait staff and bartenders were absolutely unprofessional, inattentive, and downright RUDE. We had one server for the two cabanas, and while she was not kind in any way, our party did not want to overwhelm her, so we ordered food and other drinks at one of the two inside bars. The front bar was not overly crowded, and I had no problem waiting for her to take my order. Once she did, she cut me off in the middle of my order (I had ordered wings, but also wanted a soda) and curtly stated "20", and walked away. When she came back, I handed her my card and began- AGAIN- to ask for a soda, at which point she immediately turned around as I was talking and went to the register. By this point, I gave up on the soda. About an hour later, a friend of mine arrived and I again went to the bar to get a drink for him. I asked for a lime and this bartender grabbed one, placed it in a napkin and TOSSED it onto the bar. I have no idea what was done prior to my arrival, but I assure you this is not how you want to treat paying customers. The second bar was even worse. I ordered a drink for a newly arriving group, and she told me she could not run my card because I didn't have a tab. Mind you, this is the same person I ordered the drinks from 3 minutes ago. Other people in my party had similar experiences, with a few leaving because of it. Throw Social is a nice enough spot, but they have got to tighten up in a lot of ways. There are way too many nicer, cheaper, and friendlier places to patronize, and it's disappointing such a special day was dampened however slightly because of a staff that seemed to intentionally try to make everyone feel unwelcome. It felt as if we caught the entire staff having a collectively bad day, and as much as I want to sympathize, there was no reason for the kind of treatment we received. read more

I do not recommend this place! The drinks are bad and the management there is the worst! Plus, the area is not safe to walk or park. I went there during happy hour and ordered 5 drinks because I was there with a group. One drink was so bad that we asked if we can exchange it for another drink. The waitress agreed and I got a margarita (which was cjeaper). Mind u, I paid happy hour for the nasty tasting Paloma, which the manager said was $15. When my bill came, the waitress said they comped my drink, that was bad (the paloma). But on the receipt, it showed the return of the bad drink (the paloma) and a charge for the margarita but at the price of the expensive paloma. When I explained to the manager that the waitress supposedly exchanged the paloma (expenside drink) for the cheaper, margarita but charged me an expensive drink, she asked me if I wanted a "free drink?" I told her no, I want to be charged the cheaper drink at the happy hour pricing because that's when I ordered it. She said no. At that point, I told her, I dont want the drink and told her I didn't even drink it. On top of that she removed an item and charged me more for it. In the end, I don't recommend this place! To be fair, we were visiting from out of state, so this review is purely based on our visit. We came on a Thursday night. It was dead. In my opinion. The ambience of the place was nice. I love the decor and the cabana style theme. I think a place like this would boom in Houston where I'm from. During our visit, though the service was terrible very slow and he overcharged us for gratuity and when we brought it to his attention, he just said oh my bad. The food wasn't good. The margarita pitcher tasted like syrup and tequila barely gave you a buzz would not recommend. The pizza was mediocre my friend ordered nachos she said they were good, but they looked nasty to me. Apparently it's more Poppin on Friday nights when they have a gogo band. I just personally wouldn't waste my time coming here my friend heard about this place from TikTok. I've came on two different occasions. I came for a gogo night and then for the activities. Both times were great but the music event was better. They have little board and card games everywhere but most are missing their pieces. If you wanna do axe throwing it's best to do a reservation on the weekends but overall it was fun. Overall, my friends and I had a good time. We went on a Saturday night, so no surprise that the place was busy. I do wish there were more game stations. We were only able to play connect 4 as all other game stations were occupied the entire time we were there. We really enjoyed the DJ. There was a mix of music for all to enjoy. Ambiance and decor are amazing. Service was good. Food was mediocre. This is definitely a place you come to after a meal. For the reasons stated above, I recommend getting there early. What a FUN place! I knew this place would be amazing just from looking at pictures online and they did not disappoint. First off, this place is the cutest with their floral walls, neon signs, cabanas, lounge areas, and tropical vibes! There were pink flamingos everywhere along with palm trees and other tropical plants. If having three bars, a rooftop deck, large backyard style games, a dance floor, and a DJ wasn't enough, you can do downstairs to Kick Axe, their sister venue to throw some axes. However, not sure how safe that may be after you consume some of their amazing cocktails beforehand. Maybe start at Kick Axe and end at Throw! I came here for a socially distant fun time with some friends. Upon walking in I noticed there were markers on the floor (at least on the first level) demonstrating the appropriate social distance. Also, the menu and ordering was done completely online from your phone. You would also check-in for your reservation online as well. I hadn't been to this place pre-covid so I cant speak to any differences between then and now. I don't know if you needed a reservation before, but it definitely seems like the only way to secure a spot nowadays. There was plenty of had sanitizer available as well. The only thing I cant speak to is if they wipe the footballs down after each group but it seems like they would. Now the actual fun part! football bowling takes the skill of aim in cornhole and bowling combined with the athleticism of a semi decent flag football quarterback. If you have all of those, you'll definitely have fun. If you're not as athletically inclined, you may have more difficulty actually hitting the pins. Throw Social is a great place to have some down right good throwing fun. For everyone that loves a good game and a nice dose of healthy competition this is the place for you. First time bowling with footballs and for someone that can't throw or catch, I had a ball and did my best. We had a great time and of course the ladies won. It's a little bit of a workout so come ready to play and work. It's all worth it though because it's guaranteed FUN. You have to make some COVID safe accommodations but it's worth it for your safety and fun. Eating and drinking is mandated for outside only so dress warm and stay under the heated lamps for comfort. The food was tasty and enjoyable. We will have to go back when I can try more options on the menu and eat inside. The staff is super friendly and nice. Amazing space! There's so many things to do-from axe throwing downstairs to an open space with plenty of fun games, cabanas, a bar, a DJ and an outdoor space with another bar you'll never be bored. The downstairs has a cabin feel with lots of plaid and matching decor-plenty of seating. For axe throwing you get a worker that gives you pointers and instructions on how to throw which is great for first timers. Drinks were yummy and I really enjoyed the playlist the night I was there. My company rented this place out for a retreat on a Tuesday and let me tell you we had a time! The decor is perfect for your Insta feed! There's so many great photo spots inside and on the patio. Throw Social... more like throw your money away. I had really high hopes about this place, especially after seeing other reviews. The place online looked exceptional with events like football bowling, ax throwing, and cabana lounges. My graduating class booked Throw Social to have an end-of-year celebration and prom. We were informed that we would be reserving a private room called "the Lodge" for this event which would include an appetizer and an entree to have a sit-down meal. We were sent a menu and were asked to pick the choices of what we wanted. When we arrived, there was no private room and instead, they had sectioned off a small part of the downstairs bar area for us. There was no private room, no seating where we could all sit together, and many of the event staff did not know what we were talking about. Additionally, while there were appetizers out for us, there were no entrees that our group could pick up and the dinner we were promised to have was never there. When we spoke to the event staff, we were told more food would be coming, however, after an hour (and speaking again with the staff), we realized the food was never coming. But let's talk about the food we did have. We had empanadas, mac n cheese bites, tomato and cheese skewers, and grilled kebabs. The food was something that reminded me of Gordon Ramsay's kitchen nightmares. The kebabs had the same consistency as the axes being thrown next to us, they were tough and inedible, the empanadas were bland, the mac n cheese bites were soggy, and the skewers were fine (but how hard can it be to mess up). The only downside is that the location is out of the normal DC path and doesn't have a nearby metro. Shoutout to the security guards at the entrance.
