I have to give this place another try! I ordered the Ultimate Seaside Breakfast. It comes with friend catfish, small order of shrimp & grits, biscuit (or toast) and the salmon egg scramble. The catfish was good! The first few bites of the scramble was good but I want a fan of the salmon & cream inside the eggs.. which was surprising because I love salmon! It was a bit much for me. The biscuit is more like an English muffin, it was seven. The shrimp & grits were also okay. I liked the herb seasonings they add to the shrimp & grits. It's a small local spot that plays good R&B music! I give this restaurant 3 starts because I like the vibe & the food wasn't terrible. My family seemed to enjoy their meals so that makes me want to go & try something else when I'm in town again. Ordered the Turkey bacon & pancakes for my daughter. She devoured the bacon lol. So my first time here and i can not believe the eggs are straight from the box. How can a diner serve box eggs lol like i want some freshly cracked eggs. Sat at the bar since it was a 20 minute wait for a table. Got the pancake platter. 2 pancakes that took up the entire plate. Let's just get it out there - the things that keep this location of Thumbs Up from a five star rating - it's noisy. The coffee creamer is in those to go tubs. The place is not venting well so you can feel like you are sitting in the kitchen. Especially if something burns or a plate drops. And the bathrooms could use better lighting and a coat of paint. It's awkward watching people watch you eat wishing you could finish so they can sit down. Since the pandemic- I've had to spend more time in charming East Point. I love this little town and Thumps Up fits right in. The wait staff is personable and always gets my order right. The size and style of the restaurant fits in the area well. The menu is extensive so everyone can find multiple things to eat. They always have a special. The food comes out rather quickly. This place has a nice diner charm. A little update, as I walked in the music wasn't playing and 5 minutes later it came on and it was loud. I don't understand why it has to be so loud. The food was decent, it's been better. It's something about their rolls that gives me a sick feeling, the spuds were good BUT $2 for extra onions, not even a spoon full, I can see .50 maybe a $1 but that is crazy. I've been to Thumbs Up many times but this was my first time going in a few years. I want to say they have the best breakfast potatoes called the spuds. I didn't have them this last time but I should have. I went when it wasn't super busy on a Thursday morning but it's usually packed. I didn't like how the music was kinda loud so I had to really lean in to listen to my date. Now to the food, the French toast is so fluffy and amazing. I think it's one of the best things on the menu. The sides disappointed me so much. The grits had no salt. You gotta add salt in the water when cooking grits and clearly they didn't do that. It was flavorless, despite having cheese in it. Same with the eggs, no salt or pepper. No flavor at all. I flew down to Georgia for a graduation ceremony and the graduate requested to dine at this restaurant and I can happily say I left satisfied. Our waitress was nice, friendly, and attentive. I have to get better at notating names so I can include them in my review. Our party of 7 sat at a booth and neighboring table around 1:40pm on a Thursday. Our food came out in a timely fashion and hot which I appreciated. I ordered the spicy chicken sausage grits and the Kav's omelette with a cup of hot green tea. I enjoyed the thickness and consistency of the grits and loved the blend of the spicy sausages and peppers. The omelette was topped with pico de gallo which added a nice touch. Thumbs up Dina in Eastpoint has some of the best diner food in Georgia. The pancakes are incredibly delicious. Light fluffy huge pancakes the size of a hubcap, lots of variety, pork chops, and eggs off the chain just delicious. I ordered some pork chops to take home so I could have them for my dinner. The portion sizes that they give you delicious huge everything is worth the amount of money that you pay and it's not expensive at all fish and grits good delicious French toast delicious and I guess you guys are wondering how little me sat down and ate all this food by myself. It has been awhile since I have visited Thumbs Up Diner...and I really regret it. This is such a popular place with the locals and I gotta tell you, they made me feel welcomed. I still remember the morning when I walked in and was greeted with warmth and a smile. This is the kind of place after you have gone through survival school. You will not leave hungry---in fact, bring a pillow and blanket----you will go through a glorious food coma. The food, coffee, and service was out of this world. I've eaten at the Edgewood location 3xs and was VERY pleased; however, the East Point location fell short! The food was just ok and the service was mediocre at best! The waitress brought my son cheese eggs. I told her I didn't order cheese in the eggs only in the grits. She insisted I ordered the cheese eggs and walked away. Not once bothering to take them away and have them prepared as he preferred and she even charged me for them. I was so outdone I just let it go cause the way my mouth is set up it would not have been pleasant! I won't be back to this location but I will continue to dine at the Edgewood restaurant! I did not enjoy my food, whatsoever. The shrimp n grits were no where near what I'm used to. It was all just slopped together and lacked any good flavor. The breakfast biscuit was dry and the eggs were gross. 12/24/19- I came here with friends for a birthday brunch. Very nice place. It was festive and busy and really put you in the Christmas spirit! About a 5 min wait time, which is not bad. I usually get the same thing everytime I come and then just eat off of other people's plates to try new things on the menu. I always get the sassy scramble with a side of bacon and cheese grits... w toast. ..... I always get a Lou's coffee and just keep topping it off with fresh coffee as I drink it down.... It was soooo good and the servings are HUGE here! No o way could I eat it all. I also had fresh baked challah bread topped with whipped cream and strawberries. This place serves a phenomenal breakfast. I don't live in East Point but each time I visit, I drop by this place for breakfast. They are lacking one star simply because they need to organize their waiting list better. Honestly we waited over an hour for a 4 top. I was ready to walk away when I decided to go in and ask how many people were still ahead of us. Once seated our server was super friendly and engaging. She explained the menu and portion sizes. We were famished and were excited that it didn't take more than 15 mins to get our food delivered to our table. Everyone enjoyed their meals, and almost all of us had leftover to take home. I have not been at this location in quite some time and decided to have breakfast there this morning. As I waited to be seated I noticed that the place did not appear to be as clean, organized and as efficient as I'm use to. I also noticed the original gentleman that I use to always see behind the counter along with a couple of others were no longer there.
