After seeing "Ho Made", I had to stop in for breakfast. I had no idea what to expect! It's not a stand alone restaurant, but rather inside a building that also has a souvenir shop. There was a sign by the entrance that said to please wait to be seated. So, we waited...and waited. We saw waitresses walk past several times without saying anything. A line started to form behind us and I thought maybe they were reaching the end of breakfast hours. After what seemed like 20 minutes of standing awkwardly by the door, a waitress finally took us to a booth. Everyone who tended to us was nice, but I must say, there was no hustling going on at all. Definitely not somewhere to go if you're in a hurry. Onto the good stuff. The menu is pretty standard - eggs, pancakes, skillets, etc. Nothing fancy, but sometimes simplicity is all you need. I got the two egg breakfast with my eggs over easy. It came with hash browns and toast. The eggs were cooked perfectly. My knife poked through the yolk smoothly and it ran beautifully. Delicious! Apparently this place is known for their pies, hence the ho-made. I ordered the strawberry rhubarb while my boyfriend ordered the thunderberry. My pie was good, but nothing mind boggling. Thunderberry is a mix of basically every berry, so it's hard to discern what flavor you're tasting. Nonetheless, they were yummy. We had roughly an hour wait for dinner, but that's to be expected so close to Zion. All of the food was amazing from our pastas to dessert. Our server, Lloyd, was also truly great. We watched him service 10 tables, some with demanding guests, all while maintaining an upbeat, friendly attitude. Once seated, all service was speedy and we had a great time. A fantastic stop after a long day of adventures in Zion! They had a wait on a Monday night, but we checked into our hotel up the street and then came back. Comfortable seating, and so much quieter than getting food in busy Springdale. We felt like we could recharge AND relax. Lloyd was a fantastic server- polite, fun, gave helpful (and delicious!) suggestions, and he really was hustling and giving attention to all his tables. Good, filling food. Our party got burgers and the bbq ribs. There is also a salad bar but we didn't try that. Highly recommend the sweet potatoes fries! We had to try the famous pie as well, and it did not disappoint (plus there's a great story behind the name). Definitely recommend! read more

So this is definitely a popular spot, especially on Sundays when everything else is pretty much closed. Expect a little bit of a wait. The food was really good and the actual restaurant itself is pretty cool. It reminds me of a classic American diner. We got the roast beef dinner, the bolognese, the blackened chicken Alfredo, chocolate cream pie, and a hot fudge Sunday. Everything was excellent and our waiter was great. read more

One of the few restaurants in the area, and a good place to grab a bite to eat after Zion (about 20min from east entrance). They seem to be a bit short staffed but our waitress was very friendly. Food was nothing special, typical diner style. The ranch however I could drink with a straw-WOW. We took a couple cups to go to use for sandwiches while hiking the next day and even came back just to grab more- it's that good and they make it on site. One of the few restaurants open late around the east side of Zion. It's a great place to grab a pick bite to eat after a day in the park. The food was nothing special, but the service is phenomenal and homemade pie was delicious. The old dinner/lodge theme is kinda cool. So, we decided to stop by for breakfast before Zion. The interior is lined with license plates from all over and old-times photos. It wasn't too loud, and had a diner feel. There was no wait time, and service was super fast. The breakfast was average, but I mean, I ordered something really average. Bacon was crisp, pancakes were fluffy and egg was good. It did the job! Bathrooms are clean, and about five hole medium golf course with real red orange sand traps. Great dune buggy and four wheel rentals nearby with some well carved trails. We were on the way to Zion & wanted to stop for a quick bite before heading into the park. As soon as I walked in, I knew I should've walked out. But I didn't because i was lazy, and proceeded anyway. We went on a weekday so it wasn't too busy, but there were randomly groups of people coming in, many of them decided to not wear masks. I don't want to ding this restaurant for the selfishness of their patrons, but restaurants should enforce their own policies. Their workers were wearing masks, though not entirely covering their noses, but some people just dgaf. I waited for my food in the store across the way, so I could avoid those disgusting people. As for the food, I got the southwest chicken wrap which was surprisingly quite good. The fries were so oily tho, and I'm not really someone who complains of oily ness haha. Not sure if we just got a bad batch, but we tossed the fries, I'm also not someone who has ever tossed away fries. We also got a slice of the Thunderbird pie. It was just okay, appreciated that it wasn't overly sweet. Nothing special tho, unfortunately. read more

My brothers and I pulled into town late and were initially headed to McDonalds 30 minutes away thinking that was the only place open. We had been on the road all day and were very hungry. On our way to McDonalds, we stumbled upon Thunderbird and saw that it was open. We were pleasantly surprised because we didn't feel like driving 30 minutes into town to get food. The server was great, very friendly and sold us on the food. He had convinced my brother to order the Roadhouse burger (Roadkill Burger), I went with a spicy chicken sandwich. From there, things took a turn for the worse. My brother's food came out speedily and was nothing to write home about. My food arrived a few minutes afterward, I ordered a spicy chicken sandwich and baked potato. Initially, I noticed the baked potato seemed a bit stiff. After tearing away the tin foil I realized the "baked potato" was more like a rock picked up from the nearby national park. Moving on from the potato I made my way to the main event. The presentation on the sandwich was very underwhelming, however I was starving and still felt like eating. After picking off the top bun I was greeted with what looked like a nice rattle-snake sized pubic hair baked into the cheese -- YUCK! I had been told to watch out for rattlesnakes under rocks, but never would gave imagined finding one under the top bun of my sandwich! I could hardly tell my brothers without letting out a few gags. My appetite was completely gone, I had to send it back. With such a distasteful presentation, I obviously expected the sandwich to be voided from the check, but to cause me to entirely lose my appetite, I would have expected a little more ease the trauma. Long story short waiter came back with a measly 15% military discount (whoopty doo) and tried to bribe us with some blackberry pie. Let's just say I wish we had drove the extra few miles and settled for a McChicken. read more

The cute "ho-made pie" sign lured me in. I love pie, so why not. You can get pie by the slice or the whole thing and other baked goods too: muffins, sweet rolls, etc. I wanted to try their pie so I got coconut cream(my favorite). The pie was pretty decent, but the crust was extremely HARD!! I got mine to-go and stabbed myself in the leg trying to break off the crust to have a bite! My plastic fork went straight through the styrofoam box into my leg! No major injuries, Haha. Those "ho"s maybe left that crust in the oven way too long! The Thunderbird Restaurant is a classic. We loved the environment and the options they offer. The price is a bit steeper than I would have liked, but you don't have a lot of options for food in the area, so I get it. Our waitress was super nice, but not very aware of your needs. Also, she only checked on us once or twice, so a time or two our cups sat empty. But, the place is really cool and definitely a must if you're passing through. The burger was actually really great! It's a bit of a novelty, so it's probably more expensive than it needs to be, but I'd still consider it a must-do if you're in the area. We'll be back! read more

Stayed across the street in their tiny (10 sites) RV park (which was quite, and shady!) Ate here 2 nights, because we kept getting back too late from our adventures in Zion to make dinner. Staff: Pleasant, funny, helpful. Ambiance: Retro diner vibe...but much better than "diner" food! TIP: They DO serve wine and beer...ask for that separate list. TIP: Expect to wait. They (along with every business these days) are short staffed, so they have a limited number of tables. Worth the wait!! First night, I had the Garlic and Herb Shrimp + Sweet Potato fries + veggies. Outstanding flavors. Took the leftover sweet potato fries with us, and snacked on them later. Hubby and Grandson both had the Roadhouse Burger. Thick, tasty burgers. Hubby had Onion Rings. Delicious. G. Son had had fries: my favorite type of fries, thin and tasty. Second Night: They brought us homemade bread. (that didn't happen the first night.) Obviously home-made, but was probably microwaved to heat up. It was still yummy. I had the Trout Almondine with same sides as above. Trout was perfectly cooked and seasoned. I ordered the taco salad. It looked like my high school lunch and tasted worse. They dumped an entire can of green chilies on top. There were around 7 pieces of lettuce, the chili was watery, and each bite had at least 5 pieces of tomato in it. It was horrible. I spent SIXTEEN DOLLARS ON THIS SALAD. When my friends and I exited the restaurant and got into our car, we laughed so hard we cried. I also had the hot fudge sundae and I could tell the hot fudge was just probably Smuckers from a jar. Staff was nice enough but it took forever for someone to put our name on the waitlist. Took longer to get a table (half the restaurant was empty) and then waiter never came back after giving us our check? Second time. Only came in to get desserts to-go. Lady at the counter refused to pay attention to us. We asked her for desserts and she was very short and snarky to us. Overall, food is good. This was a great stop for us!! We have vegetarians in our group, and there was a HUGE veggie/vegan menu. Highly suggest the impossible Philly cheesesteak. Great also for non-vegetarians. The consensus in our group was burgers are the way to go- all sides we ordered highly praised (onion rings, sweet potato fries, and the regular fries). Service was great- we went between lunch and dinner hours and were seated & fed quickly and service was great.
