After a long day of driving and hiking at Zion National Park, this was the closest restaurant to us (we stayed at BW East Zion Thunderbird). We walked into the lobby and see a couple of groups, immediately I know there is a wait. As we're walking up to the front desk, the hostess is arriving as well. She greets us (without a smile and barely any eye contact) and I then inform her that we will be back in a few minutes (because we were trying to decide whether we should eat here or not - I did not say this to the hostess). A few mins later, we decide to stay. I walk back to the desk and wait for the hostess. Waited for a few mins and tell her that we'd like a table for 3. She then tells us the wait is half an hour, which is way longer than we hoped so we decided to order to go. Not sure if they were understaffed or not but there were plenty of open tables. So, we then have to step aside to select our orders. We take a few mins and we return to the desk. We're waiting again. The hostess arrives a few mins after and takes our order and we pay. She does not tell us how long our food will take or provide any information of when it would be done. After about 20 mins, my friend walks over to check on our order. A manager was there and asked if she had been helped. She informed him that she wanted to check in on our order and his response was that a waitress would be back to assist. How come he could not just check on the status of our order you might ask? I have no idea! So she ended up waiting about another 5 mins until a "waitress" returned. The food was okay. We ordered the spicy chicken sandwich, the house chicken club (I think that's the name), thunder wings and onion rings. Two stars because customer service NEEDS improvement. We saw signs everywhere about the homade pie, so when we needed to kill some time we went in to grab a slice. Got the chocolate cream pie and coconut cream pie, both were served to us beautifully but upon further inspection we realized that the pie shell was pre cut and then filled. Looked great but just tasted like pudding, not so special pudding. If a place is known for their pies then I expect greatness, this pie was lacking. read more

Ate here while on a road trip with my family. Don't let the kitschy tourist atmosphere throw you off, because it is amazing food. I had the Impossible Philly Cheesesteak, and it was actually better than most cheesesteaks I have had-and it wasn't greasy! The potato salad was nice as well. Came here as a stop on our way to Zion from Bryce Canyon and was excited to see the place because it had decent reviews. Food was wayyy over priced, vegetables were frozen and the portion sizes were SO Small considering how expensive it was! We had their 'famous ho-made' pie that was clearly frozen and then re-heated and were severely disappointed. Service was ok, don't want to take our disappointment out on the wait staff because I'm sure they're working hard. Food was very very very low quality, ingredients are bad, too much money. Stopped in here after visiting Zion. The food is not bad, as diner food goes. Coffee is not good, probably the same brew as the hotel it's attached serves. Hubby had a fish sandwich, with decent onion rings. Took some "ho-made" apple pie with rum butter sauce to go. Hubby said was good. I had the black bean veggie burger with fries, was ok. Could get salad bar for another $1.99, so I did. Chicken noodle soup was good. They even had huge homemade cheese balls you could get to go, almost got one. The real star here was our waiter, Lloyd. FRIED CHICKEN, mashed potatoes, pies, breakfast...It was all the best. How do they get their fried chicken so crispy? The mashed potatoes were the best we've had. Mine had chicken gravy and husbands had white gravy. He got ribs which were good too. Oh and the BREAD!!!! Could have made a meal from just eating bread and butter. Went back for breakfast the next morning. I had the Santa Fe skillet (think that was name). Could only eat half but I really didn't want to stop. He had stuffed biscuits - got the whole order so we'd have leftovers. Was good but he said mine was better - which is why he ate my leftovers later that evening. Apple pie and coconut cream was our choice of pies. Neither disappointed. This is a great stop after hiking Zion. Don't miss it. read more

We were told to eat here and on our way to Kanab so we stopped. Agreeing with previous posters this business apparently doesn't realize they have a sign on the doors and on the front counter saying masks required. Many people waiting as we were and only 50% wearing masks and no employee corrected them. Lady at counter rude and didn't acknowledge any customer standing waiting to be served. Then we realized she was also waitress on a very busy Sunday. Poor management from the beginning. Were told 30 mins for table, waited 45 no table and lots of others coming after us and were seated. We were waiting. when we saw the male waiter service plates of food with his mask on his chin! Walked out won't go back. Service was less than so-so. Food was even less impressive. Ordered/shared the patty melt, onion rings (I guess after hiking Angel's Landing, I was in the mood for some onions!) and a beer. Service was super friendly and fun. Breakfast was good diner breakfast and the pies are what they are most popular for.

Keep driving. This place isn't worth it. We stopped by for a moderately late evening meal (around 8:30 pm). The chili wasn't too bad, but the country fried stake was actually awful. The "ho-made" bread was disappointing. The atmosphere is most of the bad elements of a plastic 1950's diner, with few of the good parts. We would have been much happier at McDonalds. Presumably, this place survives on tourists who don't see another option nearby. Just keep driving. read more

Wow! Clean asa pin and friendly service... The Chili Size was outstanding... First class fries, zero trace of oil, crispy as they come... Sue's salad was beautiful.... We came on Election Day so they could not serve us wine... we asked "OK if we bring in our own?" They called the authorities and we enjoyed our own wine... Utah rules are interesting... On the way from Kanab UT to Bryce Canyon we stopped here for a for dinner around 830. I was not expecting too much as it was in the middle of no where. I asked the hostess if they have any Vegetarian options. She said wait, I thought she will point out a couple of dishes like Pasta marinara or Veggie sandwich as every other restaurant. WOW !! She pulled out a separate Vegan/Vegetarian menu with over a dozen different dishes. Even Kanab Ut restaurants didn't have many vegetarian options. Then came the second best part - Server Joany !! She was amazing. She was in pain as her right hand was in a cast. But that did not deter her from being enthusiastic, friendly and so cheerful. Usually in smaller places people are a little conservative, however we felt so comfortable and at ease that we didn't feel in Kanab. Also the owner has an interesting collection of car model, old cameras and photography equipment displayed in the sitting area. While you enjoy your meal don't forget to read the history of this place and the founders. read more

I had my birthday dinner here and it was just amazing. I had the blackened chicken alfredo pasta which was great. the chicken was soft and perfectly cooked. For desert, I ordered the hot fudge brownie sundae which put me into a food coma :) Must visit if you are in the area. read more
