On this episode I felt a craving for a sandwich but I didn't want a basic sandwich. I remembered that "ThunderCloud Subs" offers a distinctive menu of subs. Well as you walk in your greeted and you can notice they have adequate seating inside and it appears a few spots outside. If you pre ordered you can walk up and pick up your order. The menu is right above the counter and around the counter. The staff was excellent, even though it was a little busy but they kept their cool and prepared outstanding subs to the people in line. Now the reason for going out to eat, how is the food. I ordered the Big Paul sub, it was a delicious meal. The sub is made up of various meats which gives a fulfilling feeling and an abundance of flavors. The ingredients had such a fresh flavor and great taste that make these subs a step up to others. This place has great service and has even better subs, this place has a nice vibe and easy to get to. I honestly approve this place for your sub craving. read more

We love sandwich businesses and wanted to try something new and stumbled upon this place. Once we arrived there was a good amount of parking since it's in a shopping center. The business is easy to find and in the corner. When arriving inside we were greeted by the employees and went over the menu. I ordered the California Club and my girlfriend ordered the NY Italian. The combo came with a drink and a bag of chips. The place also offered military discount, so that was a plus. Once ordered we sat down and dug right in. It's a small business, so there isn't too much seating inside, but the do have outside seating on the side. The sandwiches were decent and had good flavor, but in my honest opinion, nothing too special. Was a little disappointed in the taste and believe the subs lacked flavor. But then again maybe I need to try the other sandwiches. But until then my review is 3 stars. read more

If I could give less than 1 star I would. Upon walking into the shop, loud obnoxious music was playing and the staff all had scowls on their faces! They seemed really irritated to have to make our sandwiches!! The chips were not stocked (2 kinds to choose from that looked like they were just tossed on the rack! Staff just kept saying "we're out of chips" and when I asked if they had anymore pepsi for the soda machine, the frowny face girl just again said "We're out". I see several reviews from a month or more ago and the "Business Manager" replies and wants ti make it right, but clearly the same kids are still working there!! Do better Thundercloud!! I will never come to this location again and don't recommend it to anyone! Also the meat portion is pathetic. Paid $2.00 for what should've been a normal portion! Also, the store was open at 5:30pm on a Friday - a major advantage over their major competitor, sub-something or other. One improvement opportunity - not that anything was lacking: Raise awareness that sandwich bags should be carried horizontally. Some fun graphics might drive the message home. Having been a monthly customer since 2017. I have always felt like the sandwich fixings were very fresh and the staff very friendly. Last night my wife and I arrived 30 minutes before close and were met with a very cold and indifferent staff. We were not greeted and had to wait to have our presence acknowledged. Once our sandwiches were made and we began eating, we were informed that the restaurant would be closing in a few minutes. At 8:29 we were informed by both staff members that we had to leave as they were locking the door and we could not continue to eat in the dinning room. We were unceremoniously shown the door with part of one sandwich hastily wrapped up. We will not be returning. I miss my bi-weekly trips to New Braunfels Feed because it gave me an excuse to grab a sandwich here. Their meats are good, the vegetarian options are delicious, I love their wheat bread, the service is perfect 95% of the time. They edge out Erb & Gerb on every comparison but soup options. New review: After receiving a horrible hot pastrami sandwich I don't think I'll be coming back to this place. Pretty tasty sub sandwich at this Austin institution in New Braunfels. The restaurant has a local non chain feel to it. There are posters of the Austin music scene on the walls, and they play artists like Jimmy Ray Vaughn on the music system. All customers are greeted upon reaching the counter (many by name). This food is value-added (large portions with low prices) The bread is baked daily from a local bakery in Kyle. I got the 7 in Italian with real cappicola with thundersauce and mayo on a white roll, only $4.59. For only $1 more, you can get the 10 incher, which I recommend to you because these rolls are very narrow and very light. They are not like a dense french bread loaf. It doesn't seem like they weigh out their meats like Subway. You are given a great portion of meats, and all the vegetables are super fresh, especially notable is the way they micro shred the lettuce. Thunder sauce is a light oil and vinegar topping, which contains paprika and a number of other spices. Get extra and dip stuff in here. This will absolutely be my go to place for any kind of sandwich. read more

So one thing I hate about the DFW area is that they don't have a Thundercloud Subs. This place without a doubt has the BEST sandwiches anywhere and I have to visit this location every time I come to New Braunfels. The staff is super friendly and throw down an awesome sandwich while chatting and keeping it fun. The ingredients are so fresh and yummy!!
