All was delicious. The naan was tasty and soft. Rice fluffy. I ordered dad's aloo gobi. It was delicious but different than what I'm used to. Although very tasty, the red sauce is more Italian than Indian. I'm used to cumin and other Indian spices. Sauce very soupy, delicious but again not what I'm used to. I highly recommend this place. We were there for lunch. This place has great decor with so many books, and the vibe is nice. They serve dishes kind of in a to-go box, but you can dine in here. On a nice Sunday afternoon, I dropped my fiance off at another restaurant in New Braunfels. I decided to walk to this restaurant. When I got to the restaurant I noticed they have a nice outdoor patio and their own parking. I could have drove and parked easily, but I was very grateful for the walk back after I ate. I went to the front register and ordered my food. The woman behind the counter was very nice. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala at spice level of Indian Hot with extra rice. I also asked for a coke with ice. The waitress gave me a cup of ice and let me know that I could get my coke from a refrigerator at front of the store. While I waited for my food, I took a few pictures of the store. They have a shelf at the front that had some ceramic monks and some books that you could read. The place was very quiet since I was the only one there. My food came out quickly. The rice was delivered in take out boxes, and the chicken Tikka masala was delivered in a plastic container with a lid. Some people might knock the presentation, but I actually like the way the food was delivered. It was very easy to pack up what left when I was full The chicken Tikka Masala was delicious and had a good amount of spice that complimented the flavor instead of overpowering it. With the extra rice that I ordered, I think my order could have fed two. The leftovers served as a good lunch the next day. I recommend this place for really good food. read more

Me and my girlfriend were excited to try Indian food around the area for the 1st time in New Braunfels area. The reviews were great and it was easy to find the business. Parking was decent and it was in the corner near the tubing business. Once you arrive there outside seating in the front and when walking through the front door you get a Mediterranean cafe vibe. We were greeted by the staff and showed the menu. The business had a variety of drinks (non-alcoholic & alcoholic) to choose from. We asked what he preferred and was recommended the Momma's Tikka Masala & the BIRVANI. We ordered both w/chicken, side of Falafel, side of Samosa, and garlic naan (I KNOW! IT'S A-LOT OF FOOD! LOL). Once ordered we asked if the had military discount and they did! That was a plus! We only waited a short while till our food came out. It was a little interesting, since all the food looked like it was a To-go order (all in lids and plastic cases) and even the naan was wrapped in foil. I would've thought the food would come out in plates and presented better, but since it was a cafe, I didn't pay too much concern over it. When taking the first bite of the Samosa I noticed it was a little cold and the seemed like they were microwaved. That or frozen and refried. The chicken in both the Masala & BIRVANI tasted old. There was flavor but the chicken just over powered the taste of both main dishes. The naan was soggy because it was in the foil and seemed like they're left in the foil and set aside till ordered. Tucked away in the corner of New Braunfels is this amazing restaurant run by an amazing woman named Neetha from Bombay, India. I have visited this place many times while I was staying with my best friend, I have only been ordering her Onion Pakoras, but I have moved and was craving that Onion Pakoras, granted there are so many Indian restaurants in every corner, but nothing compares to Ms.Neetha's, must be the batter is filled with her love! and it wasn't soaking with oil like most of the other restaurants. My best friend and I ordered the Onion Pakoras, with Sag Panner, and the Yellow curry with butter Nan, it was cooked with perfection, can't wait to go back. A friend bought me a Grubhub gift card, and that's how I discovered them. Thought I'd give it a try today. What I ordered was very good. I mostly eat prepackaged Indian food that I buy at Himalayan Bazar in San Antonio (see yelp for the review). It's nice in a pinch, but it's always better to have something that's freshly prepared. I ordered the chicken shawarma and also the samosa chaat. The shawarma was only about 4 oz of meat. Kinda pricy at $16.25. Probably won't order again because of the price. But it was yummy! It came with a piece of naan that had been sliced into quarters. Would've been better if it had been whole, or only cut in half--easier to make wraps that way. The samosa chaat was so good! I ate almost all of it in one sitting. Will definitely order this again. Looking forward to trying their other dishes, especially the aloo matar, and also the chana masala. I was meeting some friends from Austin one is is both vegan and gluten intolerant. Wanting to find somewhere between San Antonio and Austin I googled and found this gem. The food was delicious! My boyfriend got the chicken shawarma, he really liked the flavor and the portion size was great. We also got an order of samosas and hummus and pita, both I would definitely order again. To drink we had a chai and the spiced lemonade, both were great! When my boyfriend picked up the order he met the owner and he said she was so friendly and helpful. I wanted this place to be my favorite place but my last visit ruined it for me. My sauce tasted like pot pie filing rather than authentic Indian cuisine. The naan was not made there. The workers managing the register were very kind and helpful. I tolerated the food presentation the first time but over the hot curry sauce served in plastic and the white rice in Chinese food box. It's all serviced on a metal tray with a styrofoam plate to dump your food on. It definitely gives you a cafeteria food feel, but overpriced. read more

When we first moved to New Braunfels we were disappointed that there were no Indian food options. We were so glad when 7 Monks opened. At our most recent visit, we ordered Mama's Chicken Tikka Masala, Sag Paneer and Garlic Nan. The perfect size meal for 2 people. All of it came out steaming hot and delicious. A word of warning, I like spicy, but medium has plenty of heat. We ordered spicy in the past, and were a bit overwhelmed. This is a little family owned shop, that is great for takeout. If dining in, be prepared for paper plates, canned soda, plastic utensils, etc. We love it! read more

The onion pakoda is more like southern fried onion rings chopped up into inch and a half pieces and I'm not complaining! The bacon cheddar naan was kind of like a quesadilla. Okay so I only gave 3 stars because the food I've tried is as salty as the freakin ocean. My husband and I have gone multiple times and the first time we tried it .. it wasn't salty as sh*t... (back in June 2023) .. so then we moved to NB and we have had it two times since Aug 2023 and the first time we ate it (since moving) I thought maybe the salty issue was a fluke (ordered the potato pakoras and onion pakoras) ... and I just couldn't eat them- we even tried to dust off the salt. I was so bloated for 2 days. But again, first time around wasn't that way and so maybe thought the kitchen was just off that day ‍... So last week we went again and I ordered both pakoras, chicken Korma and my husband had the Biryanis. The pakoras were more salty than the last time and I ate none of them. The chicken Korma was even salty (which is all I have gotten so far). My husband has a high salt tolerance, but for me.. when it's more salty than my beta blocker can handle... that's something. Now positives: If you don't mind the ocean the food is made technically good. Like the consistency of the korma is just right... the version of food they make they do with love. They have a sign that the food isn't authentic to any region and their version of what they are making. The customer service is super sweet (except the employee who was in a bad mood last time- homegirl basically just dropped our food (literally) on our table and didn't say a word... bad day I guess ‍) ... for the New Braunfels market this is a much needed ethnic eatery. I have eaten much Indian, and Mediterranean food in my day (Austin has tons of these places) and so I know what to compare it too. Now price- pretty decent- but I say that with a $45 dollar plus tip meal. We had two entrees, 2 appetizers (each pakora separate) and 2 drinks. I say give it a shot and maybe they will fix the salt issue? I sure hope so, because at this point I can't go back.. the salt messes me up too much. read more

Since it was Diwali this weekend, of course I had to have Indian food for lunch! To heck if it was 2020 and it was Friday the 13th....Ok, so I was nervous. But it turns out I shouldn't have been. I ordered on-line and it was amazingly easy. Then the delivery was like CRAZY fast. It cost a lot, so not sure I want to upsell that much - but if time is money, I'm sure I would have charged more to drive. I started out with the Samosa's. These were two perfectly fried puffs of flaky pastry that were filled with spiced potatoes & peas. I enjoyed the taramind chutney with it, but didn't try the mint sauce. This really should be shared. I had the buttery naan as well. I can never eat Indian without Naan. I went with the Butter Naan and wasn't disappointed. Again, way too much for just me. Maybe I should have had the Naan OR the Samosa's. For the meal I went with the Chicken Swarma platter. That was a HUGE quantity of food. Like something I would get in Toronto. Aluminum foil pan filled with rice & chicken with some fresh lettuce, onions, and tomatoes. It was a LOT of food. It was good, filling, and fresh - but it was very plane. I could not taste any swarma nor did I have any hint of spice. Pouring some of the white (creamy?) and red (hot?) sauces on it and experimenting helped. Next time, I may try something else. Finished up with the Indian lemonade on a lark. It was very tasty and unique. Definitely would try that again if I didn't go with the Chai. read more

I came here for lunch on a Saturday with my friend and it wasn't busy at all! The food was great and the people working the register were very nice. The naan was delicious and perfectly complimented the chicken butter masala. The fries were also super good but we ended up not eating them all because everything was so filling! The food served here is the most flavorful food I've tasted in New Braunfels. The customer service is incredibly pleasant & impeccable. This restaurant is reason # 51234 that I am unable to successfully transition to a vegan diet. Most everything here tastes amazing! My family and I love the Indian hot spice level. Allow me to brag on the customer service. I ordered takeout in store. I got home and discovered I received the wrong order. It was 105 degrees. Outside felt like hades. The heat had caused a migraine to kick in. It was too hot to trek back to the restaurant. I decided to suck up the mix up and just deal with the wrong order. Although it wasn't the food I had been craving all day, it was delicious. I had no complaints because, I could have been a little more vigilant in checking my order prior to leaving. Anywho, this morning I saw that the restaurant provided me a full refund for the wrong meal. I never called to inform them that I received the wrong order. They figured out the issue and resolve it without request. I am super impressed by this act of customer service. They went above and beyond in ways I never expected them to perform. Was our first time visiting 7 Monk's and we were definitely pleased. Although the space itself is small, you can definitely tell that this is as authentic as it gets for the area. The staff was very friendly and helpful when it came to menu selections and explanations. Plenty of tables inside and outside to fit your groups. Let's talk about the food. We ordered the veggie samosas which were absolutely amazing. Not dry and the spicy and sweet sauce it comes with were both refreshing! The butter masala was so smooth but the lamb was definitely gamey. Not bad, but just a slight twist of flavors. The garlic naan was so puffy and by far was the best in town. Everything we tried was good and worth the price! I would definitely come here again. Parking was ample, but if you wanna float, I think they charge $2 bucks per hour or something (I overheard but don't quote me on that). Also restrooms are for paying customers only (so many people came in asking to use the restroom, but didn't want to pay). Great place for some great Indian/Mediterranean food! read more

Let me start off by attempting to qualify my experience with Indian food, so your confidence in my 1 star rating is reliable to you, because there are way too many 4 and 5 star reviews of this restaurant by people who have clearly never had quality Indian food. I've eaten my way through the Indian food scene, both table service and buffet styles, in Denver, Austin, San Antonio, and various other towns with a strong Indian and Nepalese community presence. I feel my Indian food radar is pretty calibrated, at least for Indian food in America. Let's dig in, my order was $54 for 3 entrees (spicy vegetable korma, butter chicken, saag paneer), an order of garlic naan, an order of butter naan, 8oz cup of raita, and one iced tea. I'd say $54 is on par for a sit down dinner with table service with quality food. Our food was brought out to us in to go containers, plasticware, and paper plates leftover from Christmas. Entrees: All three entrees were the BLANDEST tasting dishes of any cuisine I've ever had in my life. The portions were good size, but the flavor was worth zero points for me and my wife. The vegetable korma consisted mainly of large potato chunks, a million peas, and 2-3 pieces of cauliflower. The potato was undercooked as well. The saag literally looked like chopped spinach drowned in milk. Naan: Each naan order consisted of 1 piece of store bought naan that was warmed up in foil and cut into quarters. Each of these were $4...major rip off. For that price it should be made in store, like any other legitimate Indian restaurant. Raita: Please look at the picture I've uploaded - I'm completely baffled at the chunkiness. There were large chunks of tomato and onion with almost no yogurt to make it a dip or sauce. In my 10+ years of eating Indian, I've never experience raita to be chunky; it's always been a fairly smooth sauce you can dip bread in or pour over meat. Oddly enough, it was the only thing we purchased that had flavor. I encourage those who have given this place 4 and 5 star reviews to go try 2-3 different Indian spots in NW San Antonio to understand what you are really missing. Great spot for a quick easy lunch after a day of tubing! Looking for vegetarian options in San Marcos isn't easy, and while I'm not a vegetarian our friends are and we decided on 7 Monk's for lunch. Everything here was so good and fresh! I got the chicken shawarma wrap with hummus and it was perfect - tender pieces of spiced dark and white meat chicken served with a thick creamy tzatziki sauce. The pita was aMAZing: fluffy, chewy, light, and crisped on the outside. The masala fries are excellent - I wish the fries were thicker but the seasoning on them is savory and warm. The falafel is also quite good albeit a little salty but nothing to make me stop eating it. Our vegetarian friends had two curries with peas/potatoes/and cauliflower and both said they were some of the best curries they'd had in the Austin area. I highly recommend this spot! Ordered from this place the first time. Our order total was over $100. Went home and found part of the order missing. No problem. Called the restaurant to talk to someone. The manager on line was extremely rude and said he packed the order himself and nothing was missing. When told that we only wanted to let them know that the order was messed up. Note that we didn't ask for any refund because anyone can make an honest mistake. But the manager started cussing and calling us liars. I really hope it was a recorded line for their sake. As for the partial order that we got, the food was 3/10 at best. Definitely wouldn't return just for the sake of our tastebuds. read more
