A very small side of the road grill with limited outdoor seating and weird hours. The food is pretty good especially for the area and price. You'll need to watch the hours and most people order via the app instead of in person as they are limited in staff. The person taking our order (Megan/Meaghan) was very nice even though there were a TON of orders in front of us and it was hot in the kitchen. Burgers are a good selection and other items look good as well. It makes sense in any location like this to ask what is made there versus dropped into the fryer. We'll be stopping again on the way to the lake or back in the evening again. Limited parking as well. read more

For the price, both the mushroom Swiss chicken burger as well as the pesto chicken burger were both delicious. I had their Texas heat burger and it was a decent sized patty. You could make it a double if you want more meat. The star of the show was their onion rings! The best onion rings I ever had. I recommend those instead of the fries. To finish my meal I ordered a strawberry milkshake. It was a good shake but not strong in the strawberry flavor. I've never been to an eatery in Canyon Lake and the atmosphere on this day was something to note. Cooler temps, FRESH outside air AND a playground for the kiddos? YES PLEASE. It's been a while for me to be outside in nature like this, so obvs forgot to put on insect repellent and believe me, IT BITES -- the ants that is. The food was mediocre, we ordered the fish sandwich which my husband RAVED about, an order of the breaded mushrooms & a shrimp + fries combo basket. I think the best in this order was definitely the mushrooms, but you could probably get away with buying some at your wholesale market and deep frying them yourself. The heavy set kid with red curly hair working yesterday at the window has zero customer service ! Decided to take 2 ladies and 3 kids order before giving me my order that I had ordered online and was there only to pick up. These people took 10 mins to order while I watched my food sit there and get cold then proceeded to make all 10 drinks for them before I said no give me my order I've been standing here long enough he told me to wait I said no give me my order now. He finally does and I tell him he should have cashed me out before taking their order or at least after the 5 mins they were trying to decide what to order . It was just no reason for that I'm a loyal customer for over 9 years . Never been pushed off to the side like that while my order sat there. My food was cold . I've been wanting to try this food truck for a while and finally got there today for lunch. It was busy, since many restaurants in Canyon Lake are closed on Monday. Unfortunately, we had to wait 50 minutes for our 2 burgers, fries and onion rings. The food was good, though, and the burger was a nice size for the price. I tried calling in an order on a Monday evening only to get a message that says they no longer take phone in orders. They wanted you to make it an online order instead which I chose not to do. So I drove up the road to place an order, which was a mistake because in Canyon Lake many businesses are closed on Monday and/or Tuesday. This meant they were far busier than usual with a dozen folks standing around waiting on their orders. While I was standing in line, they said there was at least a half an hour wait. Heck with that. Very tasty! Service is quick and parking in the gravel parking lot makes it for easy in and out. Small town creamy feel that is great for visiting and grabbing a burger or a Reuben.... And even my favorite the chicken sandwich. My family and I often swing in here when we visit canyon lake and we head to Overlook Park or North Park to take the kids for a Sunday. Prices are good and there's a little park out back for the kids to play in a shaded area under the trees next to a creek that flows by the hillside. Roadside food stands can be some of the best places to eat - trust me on this one, and drop by Canyon City Grill if you are in the vicinity of Canyon Lake, TX. There's no indoor seating, but they have picnic tables outside, and some of them are covered by shade. Walk to the window, order your food, and they will bring it out to your table. Mostly young people running this joint, but they were very professional, polite, and even laughed at some of my lame jokes. They have a good choice of custom made burgers, sandwiches, salads, and wraps - even a vegetarian wrap. The Chicken Caesar Wrap contained grilled chicken, romaine lettuce, croutons, Caesar dressing, Parmesan cheese, and Asiago cheese. It was quite filling and was prepared to perfection. Canyon City Grill (CCG) is on our family's regular rotation of take-out spots on the north side of Canyon Lake. We tend to order burgers, sandwiches, chicken strips, fried fish, well... anything fried, or nachos, and all are usually pretty decent (although the nacho recipe is definitely... unique). French fries are *very* good. We especially like that the menu has enough variety to please all tastes, including some lighter fare like wraps, salads, turkey burgers, and salmon burgers. They also offer an extremely low price for their kids' meals and a la carte items, so it's one of the more wholesome, family-friendly menus in town for the quality of the food. The dining / seating area is all outdoors, with ordering at the walk-up window or via online form on Toast at https://www.toasttab.com/canyon-city-grill2-14601-fm-306 . There is a shaded playscape area for the kiddos and a cornhole game for all ages. Know-before-you-go: CCG is located at a busy intersection of 306 and South Access Road, and it tends to be packed at all times, so parking and leaving can be tricky. This also means that your wait time for food can be lengthy, so if you are starving or in a hurry, this may not be the best choice for you. We've had mistakes in our orders about 75% of the time we get food here when ordering at the walk-up window. I get the impression that CCG is just so well-loved that the kitchen has a hard time keeping orders straight. They're trying their best! We've had better luck with accuracy since they enabled online ordering (as opposed to only call-in or walk-up), so now we exclusively use this option. Came here while visiting Canyon Lake - The ordering process was easy at the window, and the food came out quickly and was very fresh. I tried the jalapeño poppers which have some great flavor, and had a jalapeño ranch with them. I also got the chicken pesto sandwich, which was okay. I honestly couldn't taste any pesto on it, it was very creamy which I wasn't expecting. I also tried the onion rings which were delicious! My friends got burgers and fries and they said they were great. I can't imagine you could go wrong with picking anything off the menu here. Lots of picnic tables to sit at, some are covered too.
