Thundercloud subs is the best sandwich eatery in town.....I tutor math to many students in San Marcos and chose to meet my kids there 3-4 times a week. The guys there (Dillon, Jay, Andy, Alex, and Marcelo) are always so welcoming and kind to everyone. My kids all love coming to meet me there to work on math because they can order a great sandwich and catch some great tunes while we work. The food is fantastic, especially the potato salad! I would recommend Thundercloud subs to anyone in San Marcos....you won't be disappointed! Best place to eat and by far the best staff in the San Marcos area. read more

Just ate the roast beef and avocado sub. It was delicious and way better than anything Subway would offer me. And it was fresh avocado, not that yucky pre-packaged stuff. I will be coming back to this location. read more

My boyfriend and I always go to thundercloud when we want a healthy meal with good ingredients (we don't get those too often as college students). Service here is impeccable - every single time. I love getting the Austin club on wheat with jalapeños and thundersauce.

Been here at least 3 times, and each time has been excellent. Bathrooms clean, service fast, staff friendly. I just discovered this location has a drive thru, yay! This is always such a great option for mom with sleeping baby in a car seat! Not experienced any of the issues mentioned by other reviewers. I would say that of you are hungry, get the large. These sandwiches are smaller in diameter than a subway. I would compare their small sandwich to maybe a 4-5 inch Subway in terms of total sandwich. It's difficult for me to write a negative review of Thundercloud because they are usually quite good. I went on a Friday night at 8pm. They were out of bread, provolone, and chocolate chip cookies. They replaced their bread with small sandwich sized crusty almost stale HEB white bread hoagies. I told them they needed to get up to speed with demand. read more

So disappointed with my NY Italian sandwich which I placed to go via drive thru today 4-27-18. The sandwich was literally so soggy the bread was was not even edible. Thunder Cloud staff let's not make this a reoccurring thing. read more

Staff is too busy complaining about management, answering phones, and checking drive thru to properly make your sandwich. This all happened in the midst of making my meal which ended up being wrong... I was uncomfortable and won't be returning sad this was my first Thundercloud experience, and I really wanted to like them. read more

I love ThunderCloud subs and I am very happy that they finally brought one to San Marcos!! The staff is super friendly and nice. The lobby is cleaner than most, the booths, tables and Windows are always clean. For them having a drive thru they are exceptionally fast during lunch rush hours and latter dinner rushes. The sandwiches are up to my standards of a true ThunderCloud Sub and it makes me very happy. The addition of the new subs on the menu are truly a step up in the already spectacular sub shop!! The sandwich world has evolved and left poor Thundercloud in the dust. Limited meat, limited toppings, limited control over your sandwich and a personality that gets more diluted the further you get from Austin. No Swiss cheese and you can't get the sandwich toasted. Besides pretty great bread I don't see what sets Thundercloud apart. read more

One star for convenient location and being open on a Sunday afternoon. One star for fresh ingredients and a clean restaurant. That's where the stars stop being added. Customers service could be improved. It was my first time at thundercloud and feel I should've visited the local Austin location for a genuine experience from all I heard on the radio commercials and local word of mouth. San Marcos has much better restaurants to choose from in this price range and in this general area. One shouldn't feel like they are being ridiculed for asking a general soup of the day question, which is exactly how I felt. The bread didn't taste as fresh as others chains either. I feel like I'll be sticking to Jimmy John's or other local sandwich shoppes no matter how convenient locations are. Or just try another location in Austin for that matter. I didn't feel like the "Austin club" was anything to write home about. Tasted pretty mediocre to be honest. read more

Staff got flustered by 5 people being in line. Told customers to leave the drive thru and come inside. Never seen a business tell people they need to not use the drive thru. Sandwiches come out subpar for Subway standards let alone Thundercloud standards. Needs a staff overhaul before bad reviews get too staggering. read more
