A friend and I were lucky to grab a reservation on a Friday afternoon, even though we reserved in 3 or 4 weeks advance, I would consider it as not bad. We are just excited to dine in Tiffany's! Yipee Food - it is pricy for the portion, but is flavorful. The items on the Tea set was very small and soo much space on the tiers, it would look so much better/nicer if the item portions be more porportional. The taste of the item in the tea set was okay, can't really taste the flavor, but they kept the scones warm which was nice. We also ordered Muchroom Soup and Ham and cheese sandwich. Those were delicious. As for the tea, they come with free hot water refill to the individual kettle. phew!! Service - it was superb! they have so many servers, very attentive, all very approachable and friendly. Even with so many staffing, but you will not feel overwhelm or crowded, their approach was just enough. Ambiance - its Tiffanys!! we arrive 30 minutes early, our table wasn't available, so we walk around the floors - always fun, lots of woo and Ahhs. Did ask if they can give us a windows seat, honored (yipee). LV building at the back, facing tiffanys tiny blue box at the front was just more "ahhs" the restuarant was pretty full, looks tight, but you wont feel overlapping or on top of each other. Trust Yelp, save yourself - truly an experience to SKIP. Go to the LV cafe instead. We were so excited to finally score a reservation at this famous café but the food quality, service and ambience were truly below par. We should've been grateful that they canceled our reservation a week before we arrived because they had their annual blue ball private event; we were annoyed because they cancelled the reservation so late and we were extra annoyed when we noticed the cafe was actually open for business when we happened to visit the store! Anyhow, eventually they were able to fit us in so we decided to try the famous blue box cafe. There was constant confusion during the entire experience including insisting that we ordered a birthday cake (!! #eyeroll as I tried to tell them we were not celebrating any birthdays and did not order the prepaid cake - and likely it belonged to another table. Very awkward as the couple who actually ordered the celebratory cake looked on) Eventually, our orders were delivered in the afternoon. Tea was surprisingly abysmal. It was presented in the strangest manner with tiny pieces on a gigantic tiered platter normally used for seafood display - see the picture. While I recognize that one attends these type of cafés for the ambience, I was truly shocked at the low quality of food and disorganized service - and the ambiance was just meh. This was such a magical experience! We arrived about 20 minutes before our reservation time, which gave us some time to shop. Shortly after making our purchase, we received a message that our table was ready. The hostess took our coats and escorted us to our table which overlooked the city. Our waiter promptly took our drink orders and brought us hot towels to wipe our hands with. We then ordered our food -- the ham sandwich and the ravioli. For something so simple, the ham sandwich was flavorful and absolutely delicious. I very much enjoyed it and would gladly order it again. It looks small but I was definitely full after eating it. The ravioli was also good with the right combination of sauce and pasta. The staff did a wonder job of taking care of us and ensuring we had an enjoyable experience. One mishap but otherwise a wonderful experience. We couldn't get reservations while we were in NY so we tried to do a walk-in. We got there 30 min before they opened on a Monday morning. We were 2nd in line for a walk-in. They let those with reservations in first then offered us seats either at the bar or at a private room off of the main dining area. It was still nice but we didn't get the full ambience with the decor. We ordered the Tiffany breakfast and Tiffany black tea. The Tiffany breakfast comes with various pastries, a parfait, small scrambled egg with caviar, a carrot/mango/pineapple juice. Everything was very yummy. I especially loved the Tiffany black tea. The Tiffany blue box cafe is beautiful, we were super happy to be able to get a reservation. The café is upstairs so we had to go through the lobby and take the elevators. Once we arrived to our reservation, we did have to wait a few minutes before our table was ready. Finally I am able to try this luxury in life that everybody who is into tea, breakfast and Tiffany or the book or the movie about it . The pricing is a bit high but worth the experience especially if going with your ( fancy dreamy) girlfriends. Two of us had the 3 tier Afternoon tea and 2 of us had the 2 tier Breakfast in Tiffany. The 3 tier tower comes with bite size sandwiches on bottom tier , bite size pastries on middle tier and bite size desserts sweets on top tier . A warm basket of sconces and hot tea were served prior serving the tower. Black tea as suggested was picked for the beverage. The 2 tier tower comes with parfait , fruits and carviar soufflé on lower tier and croissant, danish and Madeline on top tier. A mixed fresh fruit juice is included as beverage. We were delighted with the experience. Package serving portion is a bit much for what we could take so we asked to box out the left-overs . Family members at home was able to experience the joy of its goodness. The place is looks so fancy with all of its crafts, displays and decors all over the place. I was so happy to get a reservation as they are really hard to come by. Blue Box is a cute restaurant with the classic Tiffany blue all over including boxes hanging from the ceiling. I did afternoon tea - it's about $100 but for that price you shouldn't have cold scones. We had to send them back and ask for warm ones. The venue is a beautiful Tiffany blue filled decor with the iconic Tiffany blue boxes (hundreds) hanging from the ceiling. We decided to try a few things... 1. High tea set for two: served on a three tier silver platter. Bottom platter had finger sandwiches-12 total (lobster roll, quail egg toast, cucumber/dill/cream cheese sandwich, mini smoked salmon bagel, chicken curry sandwich, and corned beef/mustard/pickle sandwich), top & middle platter served pastries and cookies-/ each (chocolate marquise, vanilla Chou caramel, mango basil, noisette petite gateau, madeleine, canele, vanilla and raspberry pound cake). Each order comes with a choice of tea. We ordered the oolong tea and white tea which were both delicious. 2. Egg in a shell: scrambled egg topped with delicious caviar. My favorite! Had this at blue box cafe in Costa Mesa California which used egg soufflé. Honestly the version at cost Mesa was better, both were delicious. Highly recommend. 3. Salade Cesar: grilled chicken sandwich with Parmesan and bacon. Served with a side of g lettuce wedges. Was ok but nothing stellar. 4. I am Gluten Free & they were very accommodating, however the pastries are not GF & cannot be made GF. They do have GF toast, which they brought out for me. I ordered the Gluten Free celebration cake 48 hours in advance via email. (The GF cake only comes in the Chocolate Flavor) My food was great, the chicken was JUICY. Tiffany's Blue Box Cafe is a super fun spot! Ever heard of or seen the movie, Breakfast at Tiffany's? This is the spot that you can fulfill that movie idea for yourself. It's a small cafe, so you will need to make a reservation a day or two before your visit. Once inside, the staff is fun and they will help you to decide on what to order. They will ask you about any dietary restrictions too. I ordered one of their sandwiches, which was pressed as a panini, and it included some salad quarters in between (see photos). I knew what we were in for-a place that tourists go to, small portions, mediocre food. We had an 11:15 reservation, was sat in about 5-10 minutes. The ceiling is very pretty, the floor is not. I know eggs are expensive right now but that is crazy. Was a very small portion of scrambled eggs. I ordered the avocado toast-it was good but the avocado was just slices -and they were cold. I thought it would be the texture of guac. And at least room Temp. Silly me. One friend ordered something That looked like a croque madame-cut up into thirds. It was tiny. But he said he liked it. One ordered truffle eggs and the other one ordered the croissant with fruits. I'd say don't go here if you're very hungry-it could be ever expensive. The check was a little over $200 for 4 ppl. This is a cute little restaurant but heavily overpriced. It's Tiffanys so I expected that but unless you want to shell out a lot, expect to leave hungry. The cafe is located on the 6th floor all the way at the back after getting off the elevators. It's painted all Tiffany blue colors with little blue boxes hanging from the ceiling as decor. It such a pretty photo op. The menu has some prefix options as well as ala cart items including entrees, desserts, and teas. There were 4 of us and we ordered the Tea at Tiffany's which is $98 per person. This comes with 6 tea sandwiches, 2 scones, 4 pastries, 3 cookies, and 1 choice of tea. Now this all sounds like a lot, but it was by far not! Were were a bit confused at first when they set down the platter because the menu says $98 per person and were worried the bill was going to be $400 for practically nothing. After clarification, we found out it was per order of the tiered tray, not per person. A little relief but still pricey for the portion sizes. everything was so tiny, one bit maybe two at max. We all wanted to share a little so we cut them into even smaller pieces. The tea is such a small pot that really only serves 1-2 so between 4 of us, we got maybe 2-3 sips. The server suggested the Tiffany tea since its their most popular and only sold at that location. It was fine but nothing in that blew us away. We thought about ordering another platter but decided it wasn't worth it. we wouldn't fill up. As for cocktails, the blue cosmo was pretty good. it aas much lighter than a cosmo you'd get anywhere else since it was either white cranberry juice. It tasted more like juice and no boozy hints. The server was nice and friendly but I could tell she and other people in the room (maybe managers) wanted us to leave since we only ordered the 1 platter (again we thought it was a per person not per platter deal). Sadly, a dismal experience. Service was cursory at best, which was shocking given the association with Tiffany's, whose service is impeccable. We were greeted not once, not twice, but four times as we made our way from the front entrance up to the Blue Box Cafe. But after we were seated. . . crickets. My husband and I both opted for the afternoon tea. After initially dropping our food, there was a quick "everything good" type of check in, and then no other contact until we asked for our check at the end of the meal. After initially finishing his pot, we were not approached to see if my husband wanted another pot until after we requested the check - and even then, I was asked and subsequently declined another pot for myself (very specifically,) and he was not asked at all. Our water glasses were never refilled. The food was average at best. The sandwiches had the classic taste of toasted bread that was left out too long - a little crumbly at the edges and slightly stale. My lobster roll had a shell in it which was half the size of the sandwich itself, which seems unforgivable. A lot of the savory choices seemed gimmicky vs flavor focused. With proper execution, it could have been really good -- A NY style bagel and lox! A pastrami sandwich! But the bagel was really soft -- basically a piece of bread cut out in a bagel shape and the pastrami was overwhelmed by the more abundant strong cheese that it was served with. The scones were average, and the pastries were overall also just not good. I found myself wondering if Boulud is even involved with this venture anymore, because I could probably find better petit fours at the grocery store. One last nit-picky thing which in the grand scheme makes not a whit of difference, but the sugar cubes (in the sugar jar) were individually wrapped in plastic, which seemed not in line with the elegance of afternoon tea (not that it really lived up to it in general,) even plain loose sugar would have been nicer.
