I have been visiting Port Jefferson and eating at the Tiger Lily for about 4 years now. My daughter is vegan and Tiger Lily offers vegan and non-vegan food. I've had the veggie burger 3 times and tried the Southwestern wrap today in a spinach wrap. Chicken is in the wrap, as well as veggies. It was delicious and large, so bring your appetite with you. You won't go broke, because the prices are great! It's a comfortable, family oriented establishment and has lots of interesting rock and roll age memorabilia, and great old rock music playing. You can enjoy your meal at a table, counter, back deck or outside front tables. They have couches to relax on while you're eating as well. Makes you feel like you're in your living room. Even the cushions don't feel like you're sitting on anything but the hard steel frame. Like everywhere else the prices have gone up, but the quality has come down. I don't normally feel compelled to write a negative review, but I was genuinely disturbed by an interaction I had here with one of the employees behind the counter. While I was looking over the deli options with my CERTIFIED service dog, the employee abruptly and very loudly asked - within earshot of other customers - what service my dog provides. While businesses are legally allowed to ask limited questions, I answered immediately and appropriately. For context, my service dog is fully trained, certified, and had just flown on a plane with me. He's also 105 lbs, so he's a big boy. Despite this, the employee continued to question me, spoke to me in a condescending manner, and went as far as saying she herself has a service dog for her "actual" disability - clearly implying that I was lying or exaggerating. This was humiliating, dismissive, and completely inappropriate. I do not need to disclose my disability to anyone, nor should I be interrogated after already complying with the law. I was so taken aback that I decided to leave immediately. Neither my dog nor I felt welcome, and I was uncomfortable continuing the interaction. We were former customers, but after this experience, I can't bring myself to return. No one should be treated this way - ESPECIALLY over something that is legally protected and deeply personal. read more

i had just spent 33 dollars for a vege tuna wrap and a small pasta salad with an iced tea... i have going to this establishment for at least 18 years...always thought it was difficult to feel warmth from owners and staff... food quality is decent... nonetheless I went back to get a coffee and graham cracker (chocolate covered) and I saw a woman appearing to be waiting and when I was asked about ordering by Kelly (owner) i responded stating I believe the woman is before me.... Wow this place is so lovely! I stopped here with my best friend for a lovely lunch and was super impressed with this place. Staff was cool and man was the vibe here was excellent. This place has a 90s type vibe to it. I had a crab creole sandwich wrap and a mocha frappe. The wrap was incredible! So much flavor and zest. The frappe was equally fantastic, probably better than anyone I have had before because it was 't overly sweet. I love that they offer vegetarian and non vegetarian options! It's definitely a place where all feel comfortable. My bestie and I took our order and sat outside in their private deck area where you overlook the parking lot. We had such a great view and the atmosphere was perfect. My only criticism of this place would be the menu was super hard to read due to multiple colors and fonts. I've tried this place a few times and it just is not for me. The espresso-based lattes/cappuccinos are rather watery. I also tried the falafel wrap which was dry and lacking sauce (tahini and tzatziki). The prices are quite high for the products. Many cafes in PJ have fairer prices. Another thing to note is the cafe is not intended for studying - they have a no laptop policy for customers sitting at the tables. I tend to go to PJ Library so no issue but it is just something to be aware of. read more

Tiger Lily I was definitely impressed. You were whimsical, casual and just laid back. I really enjoyed the atmosphere. I like that you order your food and take a seat where ever you would like. My bestie and I chose be be on the deck outside and it was great. The food was absolutely delicious. I had the mushroom sandwich and it was perfect. My fruit shake was equally tasty and fresh. I can tell they use fresh ingredients. I took a falafel wrap to take to work and can't wait to eat it. My friend loved her creole crab cake which smelled so good. I will absolutely come back here. I also LOVE the chai amore here, which comes in a variety of flavors but I always get the east India spiced (can also have vanilla, wild raspberry, green tea...). You can have it as a frappe, or as a warm drink in the colder months. Plus, Tiger Lily has a little secret - they happen to have the BEST cookies too! Don't pass by these little morsels of goodness straight from heaven in the glass case. At .95 each, get two! I'm partial to the chocolate chip. Perfect way to top off your meal. Great place for vegetarians/vegans, but they also have non vegetarian lunch items as well. Check to see what the daily soup is - love when they have lentil soup and will always order it. Man I love this place. The ambiance is just so chill and the food is amazing. Every time I go here, I stare at the menu like I've never seen it before. It's so hard to pick what I want. Most recently I tried the crab cake sandwich on a wrap and it was divine. All the ingredients are so fresh. My boyfriend let me try his sweet potatoes which were also really good. I've been coming here for the last 20 years to get coffee drinks or crabcake sandwich. I've always liked the ambiance and eclectic decor. It's nice to have a place that has a bit healthier selections. I suppose in the last 20 years I've never encountered a situation that tests their customer service until today. I came here with my kids and got some smoothie, frappe and cookies. My husband then came in with burrito from salsa salsa. The place was empty sunday afternoon. Within 5 minutes of digging into the burrito, a lady came with the rudest tone said no outside food. I said I bought things from here she said doesn't matter and told us to leave. While taking all our drinks and walking out, I asked if I just had the drinks then I would be allowed to stay? She said Tiger Lily is a restaurant that if I went to Pasta Pasta they wouldn't allow outside food. I said this is not a sit down restaurant no one serves me. I said I've been coming here for 20 years and that was just rude. She replied have you ever brought in outside food in the last 20 years? I just walked away, clearly customer service is nonexistent here. Here's the bottomline, even if they want to be strict about not allowing outside food at all, I was still a long time paying customer and not aware of their strict policy. I was treated like I was some chronic violator of their store policy. And by the way, she's crazy if she thinks Tiger Lily is a like a sit down restaurant like Pasta Pasta. read more

I honestly really like this place. I stopped coming here for a while because they used to only take cash payments, I'm glad to see they finally upgraded to cashless payments. Currently they have outdoor seating available. This place is usually pretty packed but the service is always great. Takes about 10 minutes to receive your order. The food is always so good! You can tell the ingredients used are fresh! The vegetables in the wrap were so crunchy and they were definitely not stingy with the sauce which made it extra creamy! I love that there are so many vegan/vegetarian options! The coffee is delicious as well! I love in the are and never hesitate to stop by and grab some delicious food! Honestly people are nice. But very very expensive. I have been going to them ever since I moved to port Jefferson and all i ever see is their prices go up than the quality of the their food. Very disappointed with the fact even if I got substitutions or take things off they add extra for the sandwich. Just because We are dealing with inflation, doesn't mean they have to add extra. Also half the staff are very rude and didn't need to yell at me and my sister. The freshness of the ingredients has also suffered. All of this creates a warm and welcoming place (especially on a day when it was freezing outside!). My buddy and I came in for a healthier lunch a few weeks ago and that's what we found here. Food choices veer more towards "good for you" fare with plenty of wraps/sandwiches packed full of veggies and/or leaner meats. My item of choice was the grilled chicken and roasted veggie sandwich (that I asked to get as a wrap). Wowza! The chicken was super tender and complemented the roasted veggies. A great combo of flavors with awesome balsamic dressing. Just what I wanted (and might have to get again). Beyond the edibles, Tiger Lily gives you plenty of drinkables. Coffee (hot or cold), fresh-squeezed juices, shakes, and smoothies. I ventured into that final selection and got the Havana (peaches, banana, apple juice). Ya know, it wasn't that good. Maybe the apple juice didn't mix well with the other fruits or sips didn't jive with my wrap, but I wasn't a huge fan. It was a meal I still enjoyed so no worries, TL. Overall, Tiger Lily Café would make Peter Pan proud....or maybe a field of flowers? What I love most about this place (yes, I've been there many times!) is all the funky artwork, paintings, signs, and posters on the walls. This is a place where everyone feels welcome. Today I stopped in for a quick iced frappe (raspberry chocolate and India spice) with my girlfriend, but I usually eat lunch here and I'll order a wrap or something. They have such a huge menu of items: juices, sandwiches, wraps, tofu, etc. The only (major!) downside is that they are CASH-ONLY. Which should be advertised better... I always forget and it's such a bummer to get there, order, and be reminded that they don't accept cards. Ugh! There is an ATM inside, however, but who wants to pay a $2 fee to withdraw cash?!
