Chinese restaurant at Princeton, NJ Their new location is much spacious than the old one. We had early dinner on weekend and seated right away. We ordered beef braised noodle soup, mapo tofu and pork with garlic sauce. The Beef was tender and soup was not salty and had a nice flavor. Mapo tofu was ok but would have been better with putting in some scallion or diced water chest nut to add a texture. The garlic pork was so salty that we couldn't eat. read more

In terms of how the food is made, I preferred the US Route 1 location (which is now permanently closed). They had some of the same dishes, but they cooked it differently (and I liked how the closed location prepared them). i.e. the Pork with Bean Curd & Pickle: At the US Route 1 location, they made it with just these three ingredients in a "clean" sauce-less way. The pork was also shredded very thin (and they gave you a lot more of it). At the Princeton location, they were skimpy with the pork, the dish was swimming in sauce, and they used a lot of celery as "filler". What I like most about this location is the option of dining outside. On a nice day, it's really relaxing to enjoy the weather while eating their delicious scallion pancakes (which I highly recommend). The service is fast and efficient. After your lunch or dinner, you can walk it off by strolling through scenic Princeton, and then enjoy some ice cream at Thomas Sweets! NOTE: They also have bubble tea here. If I could I would give this place 0 stars. We ordered Shrimp with Garlic sauce and Lo mein with shrimp. Lo mein had no flavor what so ever shrimp was boiled and tossed in. Shrimp with garlic sauce only had celery and bell peppers. On top of that the shrimp was not deveined and some even had the tails on them. I have never had an experience like this in the past. I stopped by for late lunch at around 2.30 PM on 4/20/2023 and the service I received made me wonder if all these reviews are 100% real. I patiently waited for my chicken fried rice and when it was ready, the guy put it on the counter without acknowledging me. I asked if this was my order and instead of responding, the guy ripped the receipt from my order and put it to my face without saying a word. I asked if everything was ok. Our family loves Tiger Noodles, and have ordered from there at least once a month for the past 20 years. The owner and staff are ALWAYS friendly and accommodating. I have one small issue, and it's with the sweet and sour chicken (which is a staple in our orders). Recently the chicken has been really hard to chew. I'm not sure why, but we have switched to General Tao's chicken b cause that chicken is very tender (like the sweet and sour used to be. We have been ordering at Tiger Noodles for a few months now. It was decent Chinese food - nothing to complain about and we thought we found our Chinese take-out in the area. Until this happened yesterday. We placed an order for 2 Veggie Lo Mein for pickup. It was around 7.50 last when we placed the phone order. And though the restaurant is supposed to be open until 8.30, a man called us at 8.15 that he was closing up. We were already on the way, and this didn't really bother us. When we brought the food home was the worst part - he had mixed up the orders and sent us a "House Lo Mein". And charged us for it as well. Yes, understand that it is an honest mistake, but that still help with the fact that we are vegetarians and ended up not having anything for dinner other than toast. We tried to call right away but they had already closed up. We left a message and are hoping they would correct the mistake. I am writing this as a hungry and disgruntled customer. What's not to like about Princeton. Quaint college town with loads of restaurants all on Nassau. Tiger Noodles is a good Chinese restaurant located on the main road. I DREAM of this place and it's Thai Silver Noodles. I have been going here ....... well....... for a really long time! This is hands down the BEST Chinese EVER! I even drive the 44 minutes there and back for take out. If you've never been here - they now have extended their menu to include sushi - which also is amazing. Their fried shrimp rolls with spicy chili sauce is a fave as is chicken/beef in black bean sauce. I've tried many dishes but nothing - is as yummy as their Shrimp Thai Silver Noodles . This is the best Chinese place to go to in the Princeton area. We've gotten take out here a handful of times and they never disappoint. I usually order the general tsos tofu which comes with a side of white rice. You can opt for brown rice instead if you want for an extra charge. We've also had their fried rice, vegetable lo mein and vegetable egg rolls. My husband likes to order the thai style tofu with rice. The food is always so tasty and not too oily or greasy. Their food is satisfying and filling. We always have some leftovers for the next day. Their prices are comparable to other Chinese places. Ive been coming to this place for over 15 years now and its just as delicious as it was the first time I came. Of all the Chinese restaurants in the Princeton area, this is the one to come to. The prices are very good, the food is great, they have outside seating and the service is lightning fast. I always go with the vegetable spring rolls and an order of General Tso's chicken. There WILL be the best spring rolls you'll ever have in your life. I don't know what they do to them, but they are amazing. Their always served piping hot and fresh out of the fryer so you're getting it as fresh as possible. I will always love Tiger Noodles. They introduced me to udon noodles, which I got again when I was in town in May. The outdoor seating was wonderful on a nice sunny day. The food is reasonable. They only take cash which does suck! So we had to run across the street to the grocery store to get some cash back with purchase. I read the reviews and for years avoided trying Tiger Noodles. Walking by the other day, I couldn't resist the smells coming out of that kitchen and decided to stop by. I am so glad I did! After ordering enough food for three people (I love how the number of fortune cookies you get indirectly tells me how much of a pig I'm being), I chowed down. The vegetable lo mein was solid- not the best I've had, but it was much better than some of the flavorless lo mien you get around town. The chicken and eggplant in garlic sauce was very good also; it was cooked perfectly and a had a nice balance of sweet and tangy. Best part? The people are really nice. Upon my entrance to pick-up our order, a woman behind the counter turned her back to me, without comment, and walked away to play on a different computer for a few minutes. A couple came in after me and this woman again ignored me and tried to help them. When I spoke up, the worker accused me of talking on my phone (which I wasn't) and told me to calm down! Was she kidding?! If it wasn't because I pre-paid for the food, I would have left. I WILL NEVER come here again! The condescending looks and disrespectful exchange I lived through was horrific. Not a local review since I'm an Idahoan just on annual visit to the east coast. This is my second time being here, the first was a few years ago. In comparison, both times were pleasant. I always go for the Singapore noodles because I'm a creature of habit. But I did try the sweet heart sushi roll today. Presentation was nice and each piece made a heart which made me smile. If you're into raw fish, I recommend this roll. They unfortunately ran out of something so I wasn't able to get the garden salad with the ginger dressing, but everything else was wonderful.
